High-rise Building 2018, Team wrok: Wei Fan, Xiaohan Qi, Haochuan Guo Software: Rhino / AutoCAD / ArchiCAD Applied Architecture Technology Course Work at The University of Melbourne
The building site on the corner of the La Trobe St and the Exhibition St. Two main entrances are designed on each side to achieve a easy accessibility. Podium volumn is cut inward at its ground floor level for a welcoming posture. People will in a sunlit atrium when entering through the either entrance, which is next to the core area and is surounded by floor plates of the podium, enabling people to have a feeling of openness and visual interaction with other floor levels. The site is overwhelmed by high-rise buildings on the south side, but have open perspective on the north side, which help us decide to put the main aesthetic feature, the “crack”, along the La Trobe Street to make it be more easily recognized. To maximize the Net Lettable Area and afficienby, the tower is made to be in a square plan. To obtain some senses of identity, two different kinds of glasses are used, creating a visual effect that corner of the tower is cut to be seperate from the main volumn.

MANUAL
Job warehouse, once a successful and iconic immigrant business model, as it stands today is bare and underutilised.Using street life scenarios and immigrant cultural value as an opportunity, my thesis aims to transform the site into a multicultural business platform. Inspired by ‘enacted environment’ (James Rojas, 1991), the project translated enacted space around Job Warehouse into architectural language to examine multicultural migrants as users and creators of space through their behavior patterns. While gaining new job and interaction opportunities, migrants can express their identity at the same time. Cultural boundaries are lost, while migrants will win diverse identities.

05 Zero Carbon Data Loop 2020, Semester 1, MSD Studio 21 Individual Academic Work Studio Leader:Toby Reed Location: Port Melbourne, Austrilia Site Area: 57000 ㎡ Software: Rhino / Revit /AutoCAD / Photoshop / Illustrator / Indisign / Lumion The site location is inner-city suburb, Port Melbourne. Undoubtedly, completing a giant data center between modern city and nature will be an aggression against the nature. This project explores the possibility of let green invade building reversely and achieve the zerocarbon goal. Green pop up in and between buildings, absorbing the exhaust from mechanical plants. The building is seem as a huge container where architecture and engineering mix happening, letting human, mechanical plants and nature coexist harmoniously. A surreal atmosphere is created for citizens who come for leisure and exercise to have possibility of dialogue with the future.Data center is not a daunting and closed military base any more. It becomes a free civic space, like a land art park. It participates in urban carbon cycle and play a role in building a sustainable future. Here, Some weightless, some symbolic. Some imagination has opened.

Energy master plan With 66 units generators ,this datacenter can generate 60MW to 80MW of electricity. At the same time, a huge amount of exhaust will be a big challenge for the community and natural environment. Instead of emitted directly to external environment, waste heat is designed to be re-consumed by fast-growing greenhouse and winter swimming pool first. This datacenter will participate in urban carbon cycle and play a role in building a sustainable future.

06 Abstract Revolution 2019, Semester 2, MSD Studio 36 Individual Academic Work Studio Leader:Anna Nervegna Location: 180 St Kilda Rd, Melbourne VIC 3006, Austrilia Software: Rhino /AutoCAD / Vray Photoshop / Illustrator / Indisign / Lumion Inspired by Carmen Herrera's abstract art, NGV_ C reinterpretates architecture into the form of fragmented space, resemblancing between abstract art and physical space. The design takes triangle as a clue in creating a piece of artwork for modern melbourne city. The form of building and interior architectural elements can remind people of a famous artwork, or this NGV itself is an artwork, like yellow peril, becoming an urban critical symbolic.

05 Index: the partial figures and residual events always already home 2019, Semester 1, MSD Studio 26 Individual Academic Work Studio Leader:Colby and Pricilla
Inspired by Derrida, the HOUSE can be seen as a machine that works uninterruptedly, always already an ‘INDEX’ system. Information including human and materials are input in from all direction. Content enters the home along with the human. Human distribute and use objects by their consciousness but disposed in a natural but unconscious way. After that, these information can be identified and redefined because of human efforts. The home, is totally human-oriented, flowing and plastic, wrapped by serve routes. While Objects in home are just the agent of human. Water coming in home but waste coming out, the changing situation and form of materials happened in domesticity daily life. Instead of just composed by basic architecture elements to provide a shelter for human, users actions make effects on home all the time.in this house, these effects be enlarged in architecture scale, the result of index become building elements such as floor, wall and table. Home is a human oriented home and layout is natural result of events, which make it difference from other building forms. The basic steps of ‘INDEX’ is Collect - Display - Disposal, and the only thing this home claims to do is to retrace and display this indexing process.
FE
Edge Moment At the edge moment, domesticity enters the site with information. When outside information can be indexed by home, they come in through the openings. Light, dust, water, food, they all go through the edge and come in home. At the same time, some information, like social rules, strong wind, junk mail, are refused at the edge of site. The edges sometimes are invisible, like what the images show. Water come in home from pipes everyday but people seldom notice these under kitchen sinks. Only when people need to fix some problems, they will squat and zoom in this tiny edge.
Center Moment
EDGE MOMENT _ SECTION
0m
At the center moment, domesticity enters the site with trace. ‘to live is to live trace’. In the center of home, user imprint the traces on objects of everyday uses. The traces can be,for example, coffee stains, used plates, leftover or rust stains on the legs of chairs. Traces are always left along with time and events. In center image, the still warm food imply that people would not be away for long . In additionally, the movements of chairs in section image, may record a wonderful family dinner. Center is the ‘heart’ of the home and here comfort is an important psychological dimension. People will have a sense of security when they live in a space filled with their traces. As the result, in a home, where has the most trace, where is the center of home.

Entry Moment - Entrance door and Shower
The entry of home is considered a prominade between front door, plaster boardwalls and staircase to the back left. The plasterboard wall at the rear conceals a bathroom with shower, which is too considered part of the entry. These programs and elements reflect Human oriented needs or pragmatics. Elements used by the conscious body that constructs the notion of domesticity, the desire for an ideal home and the a particular lifestyle. However, the conscious body becomes an object too. While the human’s consciousness control home in the form of desire, acts and ritual conducted in parts of the home designated as specific programs - like having a shower in the bathroom. During this conscious act, an unconscious detachment occurs where a part of the human’s body , such as hair and skin are stripped from the conscious body and flow away through the drain channel embedded into underfloor. In the entry guests or other residents walk above or see the residual trace and flow of such detachment via the glazing exposing the drain channel, through the entry and out the front door. At this moment, the unconscious fragments of the human body leave from the point where the conscious whole entered.
Edge Moment - Kitchen
For a home, edges can be blurred, like windows and doors; can be fixed, like walls and floors ; be invisible ,like water pipes.Different types of edges identity the home edge together but human often overlook these invisible edge. Kitchen water come into home daily controlled by human’s consciousness when they turn on the tap. Instead of simply flowing away, the water can be indexed into objects still staying in home, like soil in bent pipes or withered leaves stuck in the sink drain. On the roof level, the glass rooftop drain shows how rain is collected clearly and display rain in a long glass square pipe embedded in the wall. Above the sink, a glass rain gauge with large scale numbers deeply engraved is embedded in another wall. How water in and out this home is how information exchanged on the edge of home. Users in kitchen can see this process clearly with these enlarged containers and feel about the edge of home strongly.

CENTER MOMENT _ PLAN 1:30
Center Moment - Dining area
In contemporary culture, the frequency of mass gatherings are less frequently conducted in the home, and the use of a formal dining room decreased. The preparation of food is also reduced, due to convience culture like premade meals and delivery services. Here the kitchen is folded into the wall and excess chairs used for the dining table be stored underneath. In the rare occasional of a dinner part or formal event, the chairs are pulled out, the connecting rod drives the brush to the edge of the table, and then top surface of the brush becomes edge to prevent food falling. When people have finished eating, they take the dishes into the sink push the chair to put away. Brush is moved to the center of table and collect small food residue into several bacteria degradation tank below table. People can obverse the process of degradation which can be completed within 24 hours. The index process here is: the traces of eating are indexed as pieces of food and then food waste are collected and be displayed and then a new round indexing start again to convert waste into food ingredient again.
