After deep research on the SARS-Cov-2 virus, Aarti’s R&D team came to three major conclusions – High antibody levels help in fighting Covid – 19, Antibodies doesn’t need to be SARS-Cov-2 specific and an uninfected with a good antibody level can resist the virus. Based on this understanding, the Company aimed to build a dietary supplement having two crucial micronutrients – Vitamin C & D and Zinc. Vitamin D empower immune-related genes whereas, Vitamin C creates oxygen radicals, helping to fight pathogens. Zinc, on the other hand, provides essential minerals for cell functions – division and growth, and production of white blood cells to fight diseases. Many doctors treating COVID patients have recommended the insertion of these micronutrients, despite the patient being at any level of infection. How can we forget this ad dialogue? Of course, we are going to do a case study of Fevicol success story. A one-time peon created Asia’s biggest adhesive company. Nowadays, the company has turnover around 6332 Crores INR/year, isn’t it surprising? Let’s just deep dive in to know about it.

INTRODUCTION Fevicol is India’s biggest leading Adhesives company. The company was founded by Indian entrepreneur Balwant Parekh known as the Fevicol man. It was 1959 when the Fevicol was first marketed in India as an easy-to-use and replace another fat-based adhesive which consumed a lot of time for boiling prior to the application. This brand innovation has transformed the way carpentry trade operates in India.

FOUNDER & FEVICOL Balwant Parekh was born in Gujrat who participated in a movement called “Bharat Chhodo Andolan”, launched by Mahatma Gandhi. He had finished a law degree from Mumbai, but he was reluctant to practice law. Living in Mumbai was difficult for him, so he had to work at dyeing and printing press. He ended up working as a peon at a wood trader’s office. During those days, He lived in a warehouse along with his wife.

Over the years, Fevicol built a monopoly in the adhesive industry. In 2002, The Pidilite created another product called FeviQucik and acquired company M-seal too. Later, the company expanded products by acquiring many adhesive companies.

Apart from product quality, Fevicol focuses on maintaining a close relationship with the customers. The company has introduced different kinds of products at a very different price to meet customer demand. In this way, the customer cannot be missed.

In 2006, the company focused on international expansion. Factories have been set up in many different countries such as the US, Thailand, Dubai, Egypt, and Bangladesh. The brand also built a research center in Singapore.

The company follows a different SKU strategy, has launched Fevicol in a very different quantity, meaning the customer can buy ad per their needs. The products are available from pack 22.5gm to 50Kg. The Fevicol is OTC (over the counter) product that is available from the grocery store to hardware.

He researched and found that 80% of carpenters were decisionmakers. In such a case, educating carpenters about Fevicol’s benefits and direct marketing approach was a key factor for the company. THE MERGING OF INDUSIND BANK AND KOTAK MAHINDRA BANK IS TERMED AS “PURELY SPECULATIVE” The fiscal second-quarter profit of IndusInd Bank exceeded the ₹611.5 crore estimate in a poll of 15 analysts. Quarterly profit was hit by a more than doubling of overall provisions to around ₹1,964 crores. In the fiscal second quarter, Net Interest Income (NII), the difference between interest received and spent, rose 12.6 per cent y-o-y to ₹3,278 crores. A primary indicator of profitability, the bank’s Net Interest Margin (NIM) stood at 4.16 per cent, down 12 basis points (bps) sequentially and up 6 bps y-o - y. Rest of the income or non-interest income fell 10 per cent to ₹1,554 crores.

The merger of a private lender, IndusInd Bank Ltd with bigger rival Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd was called “purely speculative”. The comments on the merger came forward on the day when IndusInd Bank posted a 53 per cent (y-o-y) year-on-year drop in its net profit in the September quarter to 647 crores, while the figure exceeded street expectations. Sumant Kathpalia, the chief executive (CEO) of IndusInd Bank said, “I will not comment on speculations, but it can be assured that there are no such talks with the promoter, who have themselves clarified”. All this came after a report that stated, Kotak Mahindra Bank is in talks to acquire IndusInd Bank. The bank’ promoter, IndusInd International Holdings Ltd, said that it “totally denies about the said rumour and it is considered malicious, untrue, and baseless”. “IIHL is the one that the Hindujas and a wide-ranging base of other successful nonresident Indians are supporting. The Pro-forma gross Non-Performing Asset (NPA) and net NPA ratio of the bank would have been 2.32 per cent and 0.61 per cent, respectively, it had such an order that has not been passed. “The degree to which the bank’s activities and financial results would be impacted by covid-19 depends on potential developments, which are highly uncertain”, the bank said. 46
