In The Aftermath Of Pandemic Leaders Are Rethinking Their Growth Focus After a year of hard graft and unexpected setbacks, CEOs are betting on new areas and increasing investment in digital strategies. For most of 2020, their sights and energies focused on addressing spontaneous business emergencies. But now, they are repurposing operations and shaping a trajectory malleable to the industrial changes. 60% of the CEOs are expecting a steady revenue growth by the end of this year. Another 30% expect a resurgence by the end of 2022, while the rest will probably need more time to recover. The majority, is driven by the optimism that new opportunities will come from new markets, i.e. adjacent fields. And making new geographical leaps is a concern as well, especially in developing nations like India. Digitization is fading the boundaries between nations, thus allowing companies and their leaders to increase global footfalls. Alongside, empowering the talent pool and creating new job opportunities has climbed up the priority list. 2020 taught leaders the value of compassion, generosity, and cooperation. Beginning 2021, there has been a steep rise in workforce expansion in both established enterprises and entrepreneurship, especially in the technology circuit. Over 24% of the CEOs are helping to build this momentum, naming it their top 3 priorities. The rapidity underlines the fact that CEOs are acknowledging the toll of the pandemic on people and the critical role skilled talent play in achieving success. It is also important to mention, a good proportion of CEOs are focusing on cutting down costs, especially the ones needing more time to recover. Lastly, Digital Initiatives have become the centre of attention. And it needs no statistical report to understand there is a lot of traction towards it. A visible proportion of companies are still working remotely or on the WFH model. And it has proved to be a cost-effective and connective mode to operate. Leveraging innovative technologies like AI, AR, IoT, etc., they are creating solutions for increasing automation and speed progress. With time, new technologies will emerge, and leaders of this new age will give progress a new direction. In this edition, “CEO of the year 2021,” our eminent magazine has set the scope on extraordinary CEOs who have battled and shaped growth even from dearth. To validate this, we are featuring the leadership journey of Mr. Prateek Gattani, CEO of IDC Technologies. We have always aimed to inspire our community, and we believe Mr. Gattani is an idol who inspires growth. While we cherish the efforts of leaders, one thing is for sure - the industrial space is undergoing metamorphosis. New challenges will emerge that’ll test our adaptability and perseverance. And leaders need to set priorities accordingly to impart a positive effect on their company, employees and the larger community.

It constantly strives to raise the bar of solutions and standards through integrity, quality and collaboration amongst teammates. IDC is accredited with 9001:2015, ISO 27001:2013, ISO 20000-1:2011 and CMMi Level 3 Complaint Certification. It has a colossal and multi-disciplinary team, whose constant endeavours reflects Reliability, Responsibility, Result and Work Ethics in every solution. It’s driven by ‘Service Attitude’, which helps in unveiling a wide spectrum of agile and qualified solutions at the right price.

IDC started its journey in India in 2008, and in a short time, earned a major reverence across prominent cities namely Noida with offices in Hyderabad, Bangalore, Lucknow, Gurgaon, Chennai, Pune, Mysore, Coimbatore, Trichy, Ahmedabad & Vizag. Under Prateek’s guidance, IDC has hit the stratosphere with a whopping 650 million dollars turnover (Approx.) in global operations with year on year 200—250% growth since 2010. HOW PRATEEK TURNED THE TIDE

When Prateek took over IDC in 2007, the Company was engulfed in losses and was about to surrender itself to a $ 50 Mn premier technology aggregator. But, Prateek was unwilling to give up. With a straight motivation, not only did he put the Company on a prolific track, he earned several laurels in terms of revenue, outreach and career prospects. With his advent, what was serving only the ERP domain expanded into other segments such as UI, database, infrastructure services and others. He welcomed people from diverse backgrounds, forming a dynamic team with knowledge of almost every domain. With time the team size grew into a fleet, and their collaboration is keeping the competitors at bay while contriving tailored real-time solutions. Nonetheless, the turn around wasn’t limited to this. He prioritized customer satisfaction and cost advantage over margins, which paved a way for faster growth.

“We are ready to push to every extent for customers, even if we have to incur losses”, remarks a confident Prateek. www.businessconnectindia.in | Vol. 4 | Special Edition December 2021 INDIA

It has worked in bulk resource management for particular projects having strict turnaround time (TAT) with equal risks among shareholders; thus keeping it flexible to all kinds of projects. Lastly, the business model keeps the Company steer clear of traditional challenges in staffing & IT outsourcing. Addressing these pain points not only ensures an

integrated staffing process but also gives IDC mileage over competitors. It has a team of 2000 dedicated professionals, who cater to the routine hiring of IT professionals across the globe. He step-down from Oracle’s CEO role after 37 years at the helm in 2014. HUNGER FOR SUCCESS

Larry Ellison saw many challenges and rejection, but there is a voice inside everyone that helps to obtain something bigger than your expectations. Larry Ellison was frequently changing his jobs. In 1977, with Bob Miner and Ed Oates (Larry co-workers), he started his 1st business Software Development Laboratories (SDL). Larry Ellison knows how to take advantage of the booming software industry, rapidly growing and raising challenges for competitors. In 1986, the company hit $55 million. In the 1990s-time, Larry Ellison’s company started selling databases to all the firms riding the wave, during the Dot-com buddle (massive growth in the use and adoption of the Internet). Marc Benioff, who used to work for Larry Ellison, expressed his desire to start his venture called Salesforce, Larry Ellison invested 2 million dollars in his start-up. Salesforce now generates a revenue of 10 billion dollars and ranks second on the Fortune 500 list. Becoming a billionaire was never his aim, he told the Smithsonian Institution. “When I started Oracle corporation, what I wanted to do was to create a place where I would enjoy working. That was my first goal. Sure, I wanted to make a

living. Larry Ellison said, “I certainly never expected to become rich, certainly not this rich.” He added “I mean; the rich do not even describe this. This is surreal “. What should we learn from Larry Ellison?

BELIEVED IN YOUR IDEAS

Sometimes small ideas work very effectively, sometimes great ideas fail, Larry Ellison believes that Oracle clients no longer need convincing to use their products but just need a better software upgrade.

19

BE ADDICTED TO WINNING

Larry Ellison faced so many challenges in his personal and professional life, Larry was influenced by Genghis Khan who said that “Everyone should suffer and I should win”. Degree can’t decide your Future Education is a powerful weapon that will help you to face the world, but it doesn’t mean if you don’t have this weapon, you will lose your rounds. Larry Ellison, 2 times dropped out of two consecutive universities, even most of the top entrepreneurs in Silicon Valley, don’t have a degree but still, they are leaders in the industry.

7 TOP TIPS TO BOOST YOUR STARTUP BUSINESS Here are 7 valuable tips to give your fledgling company a boost: CASH FLOW FORECASTING

As Sir Richard Branson says “The cash flow of a company is the life and blood of a business, so never take your eyes off it.” Budgets that are long-term must provide reasonable estimates of potential revenue and expenditures. Start-up costs vary, but when they do, entrepreneurs should be prepared for the worst-case scenario. Since anything can happen over a business’s lifecycle, it’s best to build longterm budgets and financial estimates. Forecasting aids company owners in putting aside money for potential expenditures. These expenses can be both personal and business-related.

CUSTOMER SATISFACTION SHOULD BE PRIORITIZED

Plan to continue reinforcing your brand and strengthening your image by focusing on customer service and satisfaction. The brand of a business is simply how it is viewed. A happy customer is more than a recommendation; it’s a powerful branding statement.

ENHANCE YOUR SOCIAL MEDIA PROFILES

The advent of social media has altered how companies operate and how the general public interacts with them. While it used to be much more difficult for a customer to share their questions or experiences after a brand encounter, it is now easier than ever for the two to communicate and share details. The best websites are LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter, AngelList, and Pinterest accounts. If you want to reach a larger audience, being more engaged with social media will help. It’s important to remember that social media is a two-way platform that allows people to communicate and share information. Rather than simply posting ads on your platform, try to engage with your potential and current customers by answering questions and providing opportunities for them to communicate with you further. Your customers will appreciate the effort, and you will appreciate the outcome.

PROVIDE THE AUDIENCE WITH USEFUL KNOWLEDGE

Many people, on the other hand, make the popular mistake of believing that marketing consists solely of commercials and promotional material. In reality, it’s a way of better communicating with your audience by getting a better understanding of their desires and needs, as well as demonstrating your importance to them. Sharing valuable and insightful content with your audience is a perfect way to do this. This will demonstrate to them that your goods or services are important to their needs and that you have the expertise and knowledge necessary to provide accurate information. An e-book or guide, case studies, infographics, blog posts can be a powerful tool for disseminating material, it’s worth taking the time to learn how to write one.

TAKE EXPERT ASSISTANCE WHEN REQUIRED, DON’T HESITATE TO CONTACT It’s tempting for new business owners to try to do everything themselves because it’s a good way to save money. However, this can sometimes stifle a company’s growth, and in some cases, relying on the experts is more effective. Take new ideas from experts to improve your business. Paying an expert will also save you time and allow you to concentrate more on the tasks you are better able to do if you are attempting something you are unfamiliar with, particularly if you are taking on a task that needs a highly specific skill set.

MAKE GOOD FRIENDS

Make an effort to form new friendships. Meet new people, strike up a conversation, and build meaningful relationships that will enhance your life and well-being.

BUILD AN ADVISORY BOARD

Business advisory boards can be extremely beneficial to a company’s growth. People with connections to top professionals with a variety of skills may be brought in as low-cost advisors to help the company expand.

Marketing is one of the best means of successful business promotion, and it can be a powerful way to expose the company to a wider audience.

Running a company necessitates a high level of organization and adherence to a strategic plan. It’s important to strike a balance between all of your focus areas, as this will help you better manage your resources and coordinate your finances. The best part for Indian businesses is that the country has been declared the world’s third-largest tech start-up hub. Furthermore, India’s Ease of Doing Business index has risen significantly from 130 in 2016 to 63 in 2020. According to the most recent reports in India, start-ups come from 54 different sectors, with IT services and Healthcare & Lifesciences registering the most start-ups, followed by education. Thousands of young entrepreneurs have taken the plunge into starting their own businesses in the last few years as a way to gain leverage over their professional careers or raise their profits.

Entrepreneurship can be described as recognizing change, seeking opportunity, accepting risk and obligation, innovating, bettering resource use, generating new value that is meaningful to customers, and repeating the process. Budget 2021 has recognized the importance of start-ups and small and medium-sized businesses (MSMEs) in India’s future, which includes growth in technology-driven and manufacturing businesses, which will help India achieve its goal of a $5 trillion economy.

OF THE YEAR 2021

BRUCE T DUGAN: A Daredevil Technopreneur

Bruce T. Dugan CEO, Incognito Worldwide

Indranil Roy | Business Connect

Digitization and its explosive opportunities have inspired entrepreneurs and business leaders to step beyond the fence. They have actuated digital interaction with business and people, automation, and much more; in short, our way of life. Based on these innovative inputs, it’s safe to say that they’re continually demonstrating their ingenuity. Being innovative is the need of this era. We are living at the edge of transformations, and it is important for leaders to adapt to grow. Bruce T. Dugan, the founder of Incognito Worldwide and several other tech-enabled enterprises, is a native New Yorker with imaginative and experienced leadership. It’s unusual for an entrepreneur to go to a country on a short-term project, then meet a few locals and form a business around them. He did, and the result was Incognito Worldwide. Let’s dive into this dignitary’s entrepreneurial journey to know more about him and him and his company.

An Unbridled Passion For Entrepreneurship

AN UNORTHODOX INCEPTION In 2012, Bruce visited Bangalore to hire a friend’s firm to complete a project he was involved in. His sole intent was to stay for a month to design the project, then fly to Thailand while that team completed coding, before returning to Bangalore for the final phase of the project. But fate had something else in store for him. He found a group of young people and decided to launch an offshore digital service company built around them. Two years later it was selected ‘Startup of the Year’ and quickly went from 3 people to 20. Incognito Worldwide has evolved from a web development company to a full-fledged digital services firm, offering branding & design, website development, online marketing, and automated platform solutions. Another Inicia subsidiary, I2MEDIALAB, provides high-level custom software, and platform development, while the parent company, Inicia Incorporated, manages operations of these and other brands. while also offering additional services to startups, SBEs, and large corporations alike, including accounting, investment materials development. and specific industry consulting. The group of companies forms an end-to-end provider with a single point of contact. www.businessconnectindia.in | Vol. 4 | Special Edition December 2021 INDIA

Bruce is a serial entrepreneur who has conceived, launched, and operated several innovative startups over the years, beginning with Worldway Freight Systems in 1982. He was a thought-leader in that industry with innovative accounting and bookkeeping systems, and a service leader of point-to-point LTL long haul delivery. He exec-produced and secured distribution for two films, and launched two nationally distributed record labels. before finding his way into technology and media in 2005. But it was during his logistics years working closely with Fortune-100 manufacturers and branded consumer product companies that he gained eclectic insights -across a broad range of industry sectors -- from his client’s operations that he would later use in his career to recognize operational pain points and choke points, and then develop strategies to increase productivity and/or reducing redundancy. While Bruce learned how the big corporations were structured and operated, as an SME he had to be able to adapt to changing conditions much faster and combine the two, or in his words “be nimble enough to dance between the elephant’s legs.” Recognizing the need to share and channel values, visions, plans, and strategies with his team and team leaders, his operating philosophy had been to identify the company and team goals, and then allow the team leaders the freedom to (A) pursue their own strategies, (B) learn from those successes, and (C) rinse and repeat. With the overall company and subsidiaries integrated but sprawled out over three continents, the company has been a remote-based operation long before anyone knew the word COVID-19. Bruce and the executives invested extensive time and energy into building the company processes and infrastructure on technology that could transcend time and distance barriers. They hold regular virtual meetings, oversee and manage projects, layout long/shortterm goals, and action plans, utilizing that technology with each department communicating in real-time to fulfill client needs. 28

As an American, Bruce, also focused on teaching his India-based team how to adapt to a U.S. client mindset, during his 6-year residency in India. Those efforts have seen stellar client reviews, affording them the luxury to pick and choose which customers they work with, with nearly 100% client satisfaction. To date. most new customers are acquired via referrals. He had his share of failures but used each to learn and adapt. His team endured setbacks and challenges but emerged stronger and more resilient from each, Today they operate several brands, including i2Medialab, Incognito, I2Webservices, First Drum Films, Intech Creative LLC, Dinevite, and several online magazines and resource directories. UNABASHED BY TECHNOLOGY IMPEDIMENTS Incognito Worldwide avoids tech-speak and maintains clear communications with clients to meet expectations. Whether it’s as simple as making an appealing logo, developing websites, web or mobile apps and/or marketing them, or helping clients streamline their operations. the team’s track-record has been impressive.

AN ADRENALINE PUNCHED PERSONA While Bruce had deep knowledge and experience in startups. logistics, production, marketing, and distribution, he approaches projects with an abstract vision combined with a linear process and excels at industry trend recognition, strategic and planning & development. The result is his ability in deep market research and to convert client’s vision into practical reality. In 2020 he and his co-founder & CTO, Mario Delfino, along with the Incognito directors. Kiran K, Nihanth K, and creative directors Shalini V and Ruby Gonsalez, , successfully designed, built, and published Dinevite.me, both now available in the Apple and Google app stores, and oversee the marketing roll-out.

According to Mr. Dugan, “the goal of the company isn’t making money; that is merely the result of a job well done, and my co-founding partner Mario and Incognito directors have contributed to make that a reality: I could not have achieved it without their passionate commitment and efforts. We’ve been blessed to have been able to help so many SMEs achieve their own success, to developing complex custom projects for the city of Buenos Aires, banks, and industry leading brands.” JOURNEY OF AN ACHIEVER Bruce’s efforts in business and leadership is quite significant and has attracted major attention. Some of the recent accolades include: • 25 most valuable CEO’s in India ( profiled Bruce T. Dugan ) • Entrepreneurs to Watch, 2018 ( profiled Kiran Kumar R ) • Technology 50 Emerging Company, 2020 ( profiled Mario Delfino )

Bruce has been a maverick throughout his career, often proving naysayers wrong to foresee coming trends, but also embodies the concept of being a digital nomad and adventurer. At the age of 60, along with Nihanth, they took motorcycles and set out on a 30-day motorcycle adventure from Bangalore to Kardung La (https:// rideofyourlife.in/), the highest road in the world located in the Indian Himalayas. He and team would often spend weeks each year in huts on the beach of South Goa where they’d decompress, working a few hours each day. He is well-traveled and lived in Buenos Aires, Cannes France, and San Pedro, Mexico. currently running the company from Cancun, Mexico.

However, Bruce says his greatest achievements have been the ability to work with creative people and interesting projects of choice. amassing a multi-dimensional multi-cultural client base, and robust team of friends. who have become more like family. 29

MR SHEETAL PAKNIKAR

A LEADER OF IMMENSE CLARITY, WILL AND PERSEVERANCE - CREATING A DISTINCT IDENTITY IN MEDIA, COMMUNICATION & SPORTS CONSULTING Indranil Roy

I Business Connect Mr Paknikar explains it in his words, “The man pushing the globe is a powerful visual that has been designed to mean a lot of different things. First, it communicates the modern predicament of us wanting to use the earth’s resources sustainably. Second, it is meant to remind us of how powerful we want to be. Lastly, it is our interpretation of mankind’s obsession for power to control the planet; which is a comment on our reverence for nature.”

SHEETAL S PAKNIKAR

Founder, Managing Director & CEO

T

he course of leadership has taken a dramatic turn in the last few years. Transitions and disruptions have provoked a dire need for new ways, which is not limited to innovative practices. Business leaders need to focus on sustaining relations with stakeholders as they are the ones that really matter. Empowered by this simple understanding, Mr Sheetal Paknikar, Founder, MD & CEO of Seven Twenty Ten Network, has spent the last 28 years garnering substantial knowledge on diverse verticals while building a sustainable network of professionals. Academically, he is a Masters in Design from the Industrial Design Centre at IIT, Mumbai with an extensive background in the media & communication consulting space. Over the last 6 years, he has added his passion in Sports Consulting to develop Analytics & Education as key focus areas.

A VISIONARY LEADER

At the outset of Seven Twenty Ten, Mr Paknikar’s vision was to create a network of conscious and diversely qualified professionals, collectively working together to add value to the world. The inception came at a time the world was beginning to shrink, at the end of the first decade (2010) when the internet was about to boom. As technology influenced the global economy, drove automation and brought new advancements like AI, IoT, etc. Seven Twenty Ten strategically built their base into diverse segments that would require their expertise. This has enabled the Company to build their presence across several business domains ranging from Communication Consulting, Integrated Marketing, Brand Building, Films & Audio Visual, Content Development, Digital Solutions, Educational Initiatives & Skill Development. Although the Company is a onestop shop for varied marketing and communication concepts, at the heart, it continues building a robust & sensitive network in the communications market. A prominent illustration of the long term company vision can be interpreted in its ‘Picon’ (Pictogram + Icon). www.businessconnectindia.in | Vol. 4 | Special Edition December 2021 INDIA

30

Mr Paknikar has always been a doer in both corporate and personal life. He is a firm believer in the importance of pursuing new ideas and concepts while reflecting on how the world works and how challenges affect our everyday lives. He has explored various domains and built expertise around graphic art & design, including print, digital & video/film. His handson and amazingly diverse knowledge has helped him execute many turnkey projects in the advertising and communication space. Walking a different path has helped him build an experienced team, while crossing significant milestones along the way.

FLEXIBLE TO THE PANDEMIC DISRUPTIONS

Leaders and challenges always have had a dynamic relationship. Over the last decade, the business fraternity has been through several disruptions, bringing a multifold of challenges. Moving beyond them, COVID-19 has tested the might of every individual and business alike. Now, in the aftermath of the pandemic, businesses have reconfigured their framework to sustain and set new directions. In other words, businesses are realigning their goals while building sustainable, new age business models. Keeping up with such changes, Mr Paknikar is creating an ecosystem that will uphold his future vision with on-ground reality. The Company’s acclivity over digital inclusions has also helped them tread confidently amid the mayhem. Digital

tools have become an integral part of businesses, helping them become more automated, streamlined and agile. For sustainable growth, Seven Twenty Ten is currently developing interactive digital platforms driven by AI in the sports & education space. Furthermore, Mr. Paknikar feels that it is extremely important for businesses to study the changing legalities at the policy level – being aware and sensitive to data privacy, intellectual property rights and digital enhancement.

SUSTAINABLE FLAGSHIPS BUILT ON R&D

Since the Company was founded on the vision of how to develop a sustainable organization; there was great importance given to R&D across verticals. The first success came with the setting up of an education & skill-building vertical of Indian Classical Music for the younger generation. Sur Sanskaar Academy of Music, based in Mumbai, is now in the process of consolidation and digital transformation. In 2015, the Company added Sports Consulting, concentrating on the growing need for physical education in children, which has become increasingly important as the world becomes more digital. And true to the diverse nature of projects handled, the team at Seven Twenty Ten is presently working on a Flagship Project for Dementia Patients in the area of multisensory therapy – with one of India’s leading Foundations.

A MILIEU OF PASSIONATE PEOPLE

Mr Sheetal Paknikar has forged his road to glory with an unending passion. He has a dispassionate view about success & failure and believes both are obvious ingredients to growth. Maintaining a balance between both, he has contributed to building an organizational culture that stems from a core team striving to achieve the desired outcome through hard work & perseverance. Much like him, his team inculcates risks and challenges as keystones of growth. Thus ensuring an equivalent collaboration where they push one another and work with resources in hand. The culture eventually breeds success, as all stakeholders are treated with equal importance. Their client list encompasses both National & International brands, with repeat business springing from various verticals. “Our clients agree that we work more like partners and not just service providers”, opines Mr Paknikar

Client satisfaction is paramount and the Company highly values its associations - both at a professional & personal level. This holistic approach has enabled Seven Twenty Ten to build a trusted name for itself in the Global Market of Media and Communications. In 2015, the Company won an IMC contract to promote football in India by presenting a long term vision to former Technical Director of the Croatian Football Federation, Dr. Romeo Jozak – who is a celebrated UEFA Administrator & a renowned International Football Coach. Since then, Dr Jozak has been integral to the Company’s long term plans to scale up its sports vertical with the setting up of a JV between Seven Twenty Ten & Romeo Jozak & Associates in October 2018. While these business developments have been crucial in brand excellence, Seven Twenty Ten has also been part of several CSR Initiatives with their corporate partners. This Collaboration for collective social responsibility also spreads to its partners.

ACCOMPLISHMENT AND PROSPECTS THAT MARK THEIR EXCELLENCE

Mr Paknikar and the team’s collaborative efforts haven’t gone unseen. Last year, the founder was conferred with the ‘Man Of Excellence Award 2020’ at the Indian Achiever’s Forum for his outstanding performance and social contributions. Call it his foresight or long term vision for Seven Twenty Ten to be a responsible & self sustainable network: it is now even more in sync with rising global concerns like upskilling, new age employment, sustainability & climate change. He 31

has fostered a sense of spiritual well being while motivating his team to thrive in limitation, have gratitude, respect everyday challenges and stay on toes with realistic goals. These have contributed to sustained employment, employee loyalty and a collective work culture with a decentralized approach. As for the future, Seven Twenty Ten is collaborating with a few of its key associates to address the global crisis and economic challenges by way of awareness campaigns, videos & curating some of the World’s brilliant initiatives on how to make a better world. Apart from all of the above, the company is consolidating its expertise in areas where it creates a difference, like Corporate Communication, Employee Engagement, Education, Digital Products and Video Content. Mr Paknikar finally hopes to develop his dream - a major International IP in Sports Education, by 2025.

WORDS OF WISDOM

“Have a Vision; have a Goal. Be accountable to yourself. Though experience is the biggest teacher, it is the willing student who decides how, where and when to use it to the larger benefit of society.”

Culture

The Rise of Rap Culture in India Meet top 10 Indian rappers India has long been recognized for its diverse cultural legacy, incredible music and dance forms, and a cultural melting pot unlike any other. However, as generations have passed, changes and evolution have occurred that no one could have predicted. New dance forms, art forms, and music styles continue to enter the market, and while the old will always be gold, people are updating their ways by seeking to adapt to other cultures! Rap music has become one of the most popular and fastest developing music cultures in the twenty-first century. First Indian Rapper Baba Sehgal, a Punjabi rapper, brought hiphop to India in 1990. Harjeet Singh Sehgal (Baba Sehgal) with successful songs like “Thanda Thanda Paani” and “Dil Dhadke,” established the hip-hop and rap genres. Following that, Bohemia (Roger David), a Pakistani American rapper based in California, ignited the Indian Hip-Hop scene in the early 2000s. Bohemia launched his debut album “Vich Pardesan De” with the help of Hip-Hop producer Sha One (Seth Agress). He rose to prominence quickly with the launch of his debut full-length Punjabi rap album, “Pesa Nasha Pyar,” which was a smash hit in India. THE BIRTH OF RAP CULTURE

A groupof five individuals, Yo Yo Honey Singh, Lil Golu, Badshah, Raftaar, and Ikka, together known as “Mafia Mundeer,” came crashing into the Punjabi rap industry, influenced by Bohemia’s popularity. Throughout their history, the trio has released a slew of popular Punjabi rap songs. Alfaaz and J Star, two additional performers, joined the group after some time. Unfortunately, this group’s glory was fleeting. Several members of the group eventually split away to work on their own. Then, in the early 2010s, Punjabi rappers had a lot of success as they quickly soared to stardom and began writing Bollywood songs. Yo-Yo Honey Singh got paid a whopping 70 lakh for a single song at the height of his popularity.

GULLY BOY; INDIA’S FIRST HIP-HOP BASED MOVIE

A youngster named Naved Shaikh (Naezy) came from the streets of Mumbai. “Aafat!” was Naezy’s debut single track. Because of Naezy’s variety, excellent talents, and constructive narrative, the song became viral. Divine’s popularity grew to the point that he was signed to Sony Music Entertainment as an artist. Divine and Naezy collaborated on the song “Mere Gully Mein” in 2015. www.businessconnectindia.in | Vol. 4 | Special Edition December 2021 INDIA

32

Gully Boy, a movie by Zoya Akhtar that was greatly influenced by DIVINE and Naezy, was released in February 2019. The low-key gully rap culture reached a tipping point at this moment. The soundtrack for the film had outstanding poetry and regional music. Many rap artists were included, including MC Altaf, Spitfire, and Kaam Bhari. The voices of the streets gained notoriety and popularity as a result of Gully Boy. From being a small subculture with only a few musicians, India’s rap culture has evolved into a large community. Even college festivals have begun to feature rap battles, which attract a large number of young people. Rap culture is slowly but steadily becoming one of the most significant aspects of young culture, and it is expanding at a rapid rate.

They have a team of experienced, innovative and collaborative people having 20+ years of expertise in building enterprise solutions. Their technical team consist of passionate and diligent technical experts and engineers who are experienced in research, design, technology and engineering. A brief account of their portfolio: • • • • • • • •

Product Conceptualization and Prototyping. User Experience Engineering. Product Design and Development. Product Modernisation. Product Re-Engineering. Data Engineering. Analytics and Reporting. Enterprise Mobility.

VISION AND VALUES “When we craft solutions for our customers, we cannot forget our employees as they reflect our core brand value. “It is of utmost importance that we ensure everyone is on the same page. Ensuring two-way communication is eminent when we want everyone to be on the same page,” stresses Tanveer. WHAT MAKES THEM DIFFERENT? Bluebenz genuinely asserts themselves as the leaders in their trade. They enable customers to see their problems churn into solutions via the proprietary method and use the same methodology to ideate solutions. This modus operandi makes them distinct and makes a strong impact on customer satisfaction. BUSINESS MODEL Talking about the business model, they follow something called Ideative Product Engineering. They start with consulting and finish it with building solutions, thereby ensuring that they cover the end-toend needs of their consumers through tailor-made solutions. Based on time-honoured principles of enhanced sustainability, reusability, cost-reduction, scalability and efficiency of enterprises, they have customized offerings to handle the product engineering ops of businesses. They have created quite a good number of blueprints of various ideas in building products and solutions for their clients merely by getting inside the skin of the idea. They nurtured product ideation by conditioning it and transforming it into a reality by measuring feasibility and identifying business opportunities that proved beneficial for its partner. Tanveer asserts, “We have a 360 degrees validation approach which has helped us emerge with the best product concept at an early age of product life cycle”. ROLE OF R&D IN GROWTH “When a company takes the time to invest in R&D, they get a huge influx of knowledge. This is what makes Intel so amazingly successful: Their R&D all boils down to useful knowledge that the company can use - to further develop its main product lines. R&D exists to gain knowledge, not as an entity in itself” Tanveer Patel WORK CULTURE At BLUEBENZ, they believe in upskilling themselves all the time and never losing the curiosity to learn new things. Therefore, they ensure that everyone who works at Bluebenz has skill-based training that they can choose from every financial year. Employees get involved from product ideating to the development stage to grasp the entire product life cycle. They try to inculcate the decision-making spirit and the spirit of entrepreneurship within 37

their employees. There is no concept of hierarchy or any glass cabins to keep them apart. “I have noticed that this kind of culture inculcates a sense of responsibility within the employees, and they want to work because of the trust you show in them, and not for anything else,” opines Tanveer. CHANGING SCENARIO “Technology is fast-moving and is either adapting or disrupting industries. So, if you are not on board, then you have already started sinking. 5 Easy Ways to go from Ordinary Life to Extraordinary “I think it’s possible for ordinary people to choose to be extraordinary.” - once Elon Musk said. Now, whether you see him as the real-life Iron Man, most of us view him as an exceptional man on the planet. But even Elon believes that any ordinary person – including you – can become extraordinary. Before going to have the extra, first, let’s have a chit-chat about ordinary! by ordinary, I mean, you are into something which you don’t like, but you don’t have any choice, except keep doing that. You are one of a crowded people -who is not fully living their life by doing what they love to do. On the other flip side, an extraordinary life is one you make. A life that you live on your terms & condition and do what you are passionate about. Basically, you have command of your own life. Even some people pay you for what you like to do. Most importantly, what matters is that what makes you happy.

Today, we are sharing with you 5 easy tips to turn your ordinary life into an extraordinary one. So, without wasting any time, let’s dive into it.

#1

Understand yourself, what you really like and want in your life. You need to find out what you really want in your life, what really excites you to do? If you cannot find these answers, then spare time with yourself and keep your eyes on every moment that makes you happy, who you want to be. Once Chalmers Brothers said, “Observing yourself is the necessary starting point for any real change.” After that, you will have more clarity.

#2

Get Paid for The Thing you Love to Do. Getting to know yourself is not enough. You must start selling your loveable works. In this way, you cannot just make money, but you will also understand values. Earning values and making money through passion will give you confidence. There must be a goal to earn and live by doing things in your own way.

#3

Consider Long Term Investment in Learning. In order to turn ordinary life into extra, you have to keep educating yourself every day. It could be a skill that you know nothing about it right now, but after six or seven or at the end of the year, you know them. Keep growing yourself wherever you get a chance to learn something, do not let those chances go away. Keep challenging your brain to try new things.

#4

Become Financially Independent Credit Cards, Loans, and other EMIs allow people to live certain quality of life instantly -this life is chosen by ordinary people. Over time, debt impacts people’s financial stability in the near and long term. To become financially independent, you must stay away from debt. You need to prioritize saving and investment as well. Read some financial education books, it will give you more clarity to manage cash flow, tax, and more. That’s what extraordinary people do. Always dream big but also be ready to face difficulties.

#5

Equally, Deal with The Success and Failure Failure and success both are part of our lives, most certainly part of the business. As an extraordinary, you keep trying new things in life, either you will see lots of success and failures. There will be sunny and stormy days. In that case, you should be ready to deal with the situation. Create situations where you are able to make it through financially, emotionally, physically, and mentally.

Succeeding in life and being an extraordinary person is not that easy task. It takes effort and time to become one. However, as you become extraordinary, people will start following you. One of the most important things is that extraordinary people care for others.

CEOs

OF THE YEAR 2021

Aquavit Pharmaceuticals

A Sophisticated Name In Personalized Medicine & Healthcare

SOBIN CHANG CEO

Should a youngster be treated the same as an adult in terms of medical care? Probably not. They will, however, most likely receive the same treatment if they become ill. And the rest of the world will follow suit. Despite advances in medical science, doctors don’t fully understand how patients respond to different therapies. The ‘One-size-fits-all’ approach is exclusively used, but it often results in undesirable side effects. Nonetheless, the use of precision/personalized medication can change this for the better. The growing study and research into human genetics and genomes, as well as how they influence health, disease, and drug reactions, has enabled doctors and scientists all around the world to provide more precise diagnosis, drug prescriptions, and effective therapies. Eventually, this keeps the patient off the ‘trial-and-error’ approach, ensuring an optimal therapy from the start. Despite its efficacy, the complete democratization of personalized healthcare is yet to happen. Tailoring individualized health care to improve patients’ lives – it’s a mission. A mission, which can become widely possible because of advanced healthcare companies, like Aquavit Pharmaceuticals. Headquartered in New York, the Company offers personalized healthcare through innovative drug and biologics delivery systems.

ATTUNED TO INNOVATIVE CARE Founded in 2010, Aquavit is constantly setting benchmarks in medical aesthetics through multiple pipelines, including Neuroscience, Oncology, Medical Dermatology and immunology (COVID-19). Its uniqueness stems from its patented microchannel technology, which permits intradermal delivery of any medicine or therapeutic agent administered topically or by patch. This novel route of administration makes them a pioneer in the domain. Aquavit is also one of the largest manufacturers of microchannel technology and among the top 3 medical aesthetics companies in the US. With a mission to modernize and personalize healthcare, the Company has made great strides, developing formulations, prototypes and much more. Recently, it acquired an exclusive license to market and commercialize Botulinum toxin (BOTOX) in the United States and Canada. This will enable it to work on conditions where the neurotoxic protein has been approved, such as Chronic Migraine, Blepharospasm, Cerebral Palsy, Spasticity, Overactive Bladder, Depression, Plantar Fasciitis, Osteoarthritis, etc. Aquavit also has a defined IP portfolio, including 30 + patents and over 25 trademarks. TETHERED TO CHANGING SCENARIOS Time is changing, and with that - diseases are mutating, attaching themselves with additional properties. For instance, COVID-19 basically inflicted respiratory tract infections - both mild and lethal at a fast rate. Its Delta variant, on the other hand, transmits faster - and more efficiently. The rapid spread of the virus across 96 nations demonstrates the level of chaos it can bring. And it is not just COVID-19! There are many concerns in medical aesthetics that have evolved; these are best addressed through personalized medicine. The cognizance propels paradigm awareness as it has proven to optimize healthcare at reduced time, cost and rate of failure in clinical trials. Aquavit supports this and has customized products assertive to individual channels. The portfolio includes: •

AQT: These are microinjection devices to help practitioners administer therapeutic agents to address skin conditions using drugs of their choice. The series includes AQT-001, an acclaimed product used by renowned plastic surgeons. Very soon, it will introduce AQT – 004, a low-dose microchannel microinjector, particularly to deliver Botulinum toxin as Botulinum Toxin Asset known as DTX will prove to be quite revolutionary in aesthetics and therapeutic implications.

Micro-channel® technology- As a transformative innovation, Aquavit’s patented micro-channel® technology is said to be a novel route of administration (RoA) for drugs and biologics. This unique technology will allow inter-dermal delivery at greater efficacy and speed of delivery for any drug or therapeutic agent currently delivered either topically or via a patch form. It will prove to be a revolutionary breakthrough in Aquavit’s mission to modernize and customize healthcare for all.

Aquavit’s products have proved to be an integral asset to improve and optimize patient care. Its microchannel technologies are offering customizable skincare options to physicians and individuals. And since these products have a range of applications, it meets client satisfaction evidently. Over the years, Aquavit’s clients have used its technology to treat hundreds and thousands of patients and haven’t received any major complications so far. The Company has subsidiaries in the USA and South Korea to develop, manufacture and distribute its

technologies. Due to its focus on customer satisfaction and product quality, Aquavit is welcomed with open arms and valued in the evolving market. AN INTEGRAL ROLE AMID COVID-19 Interestingly, the pandemic has spurred numerous challenges in terms of healthcare, particularly skincare. Nowadays, everyone on the road has to wear masks all the time. While it plays a vital role in reducing the spread, it can often be hard on the skin and cause a range of skin problems (Acne, Peeling Skin, Rashes, etc.). Aquavit made a significant contribution to this scenario. With its breakthrough product Inner B System®, the Health-Tech Company is helping people hydrate, cool and prevent breakouts. The product combines Salicylic Acid and Allantoin for blemish control, and comes in a hydrogel form that can be worn under the skin discreetly. And not to mention, the product is patented! It has proven to be very useful for healthcare professionals who are wearing PPE Kits day-in and day-out. In addition, Aquavit has developed a microchannel delivery apparatus for epidermal vaccinations. When vaccinations are administered to the epidermis of the skin, an immune inductive site rich in antigen cells is activated. This allows vaccines to be delivered through the skin. Aquavit’s invention is painless, user-friendly, and requires little knowledge. And it is applicable in the current scenario, based on the restrictions to access healthcare. THE ONE BEHIND THE DYNAMICS Every successful innovation has a visionary behind it who has the experience and motivation to create something worthwhile. Sobin Chang is the brains and visionary of Aquavit. She has a wealth of knowledge in pharmaceuticals, devices, and biologics, spanning from the wellknown brand BOTOX® to a $7.5 billion oncology portfolio. She has extensive experience in management, marketing, and research, having worked for pharma MNCs such as Pfizer, Bayer, ScheringPlough (Merck), Novartis, and Allergan. She has also served the US Department of Health and Human Services, the Division of Drug Marketing, Advertising and Communications of the Food and Drug Administration (FDA DDMAC), guiding the FDA Modernization Act. Besides Aquavit, she also chairs as a Director of the Board at AYAPH (Association of Yale Alumni in Public Health). On the other hand, she is a Pharmacoeconomist with over 60 publications to her credit. She was the keynote speaker at the Big Data 41

in Pharma conference in Philadelphia recently. Her astute leadership is helping Aquavit democratize the need for personalized healthcare over the conventional. Her therapeutic experience spans Neuroscience, Dermatology, Infectious Disease, Allergy & Immunology, and Oncology, and she has over 25 patents to her name. A ZESTFUL MILIEU Having a leader of strong acumen, it’s no doubt Aquavit has a very dynamic culture. Sobin has over 20+ years of industrial experience, which has helped her create a fun yet challenging environment. However, she’s not alone. Her leadership panel includes Timothy Sherwood (SVP, Finance & Human Resources), Sai Sankar (Chief Biomedical Engineer), Chrissie Dipasquale (Customer Relations) and Vishruth Cavale (Project Manager). They collaborate and often take on multiple roles to create a model culture that helps Aquavit to thrive. The cohesiveness was very helpful during the Pandemic outbreak. Sobin speaks on this, “We were able to overcome the pandemic through lean operations management and focusing on the important matters.” They swiftly switched to online communications and a remote work model, which helped them adapt and overcome the chaos. INCESSANT TOWARDS PATIENT CARE Over the last decade, Aquavit has created a robust IP portfolio that speaks volumes about its achievements in the healthcare realm. The AQT-001 is a Class-I FDA listed medical device and a proud milestone of Aquavit. The Company is also witnessing rising opportunities in personalized treatment regimens. And to grow on them, it aims to develop the PITO series that’ll allow in creating a niche in the market as well as people’s lives.

Education

Education

Education Has Put off Physical Classrooms and Shifted to ONLINE CLASSES The best days were when schools and colleges were open and students were seen rushing to school in neat and tidy uniforms with bags in their shoulders and sometimes running with those heavy bags to not get late. After reaching school, to stand for morning prayers and then some physical activities, after that straight to the classrooms filled with our classmates. The same way for college, when students were always confused with what to wear today, what period to bunk and go to the canteen, etc. Those days now seem to be just a memory to cherish. An education center is the best public policy tool available to raise skills. While school/college time can be fun along with raising social skills and social awareness if we look from an economic point of view the primary point of being in school/ college was that it helped in increasing a child’s ability. But the arrival of COVID-19 has led to the departure of students going to education centers. Well! we say a coin has its two sides, the same way this too has both good and bad impressions but let’s just go for a positive version because 2020 has brought us enough negative things.

www.businessconnectindia.in | Vol. 4 | Special Edition December 2021 INDIA

44

Whatever the condition comes, one should never stop learning, and if one way of going to an educational center is closed than open another way of e-learning. The arrival of Covid-19 has forced schools and universities across the world to put off physical classrooms and shifted to online classes. While the faculty deals with the new ways of managing this sudden transition to online education, students are left clinging on to their mobile phones and computer screens.

FUTURE EDUCATION SYSTEM The new way of learning where courses are conducted online, examinations are conducted online, assignments are submitted through email. For India, this seems to be a good opportunity to strengthen internet connectivity across rural India. It will help every village and town to be digitally connected for the better interaction between the students and teachers. When it comes to the students some are quick at adapting this system and some take a little longer time to acquaint with this system. Fundamental structural changes should be made in the curriculum/syllabi and programs should be a part of the curriculum in engineering and science degree programs. This will help in creating future entrepreneurs and this can be one way to help beat unemployment and increase business skills amongst the youth. The business community should play a foremost role in this new educational system.

Higher education in India needs to be more international but more locally connected and socially responsible, more flexible(curriculum), should be innovative and open for more collaboration. Innovative models should be introduced, Universities/institutes could be online that would provide internet-based flexible offerings. The Post Covid-19 is an opportunity we look forward to transforming the higher education system. Institutes/Universities should definitely utilize this opportunity to transform itself. the focus should be more on internationalizing higher education as today we are facing Covid-19 but no one knows what lies ahead in the future for millions of youngsters.

Learning is more effective when it is active rather than a passive process
