says Anuj Wahi
www.businessconnectindia.in | Vol. 3 | Special Edition September 2020 INDIA
THE MOTIVATION BEHIND THE ENTREPRENEURSHIP After attaining his Bachelor’s degree in Commerce from University of Delhi, Anuj moved to USA at the age of 21 to pursue his MBA from Dhalkemper School of Business at Gannon University in Erie, Pennsylvania in Jan 2001. He performed brief stints in sales, marketing & strategy roles with increasing responsibility at GE and B. Braun Medical in Pennsylvania. Thereafter, he worked for approximately 2 years at Aesculap Inc, a division of B.Braun Medical who sponsored his H-1B work permit visa to work for them in USA as their Product Manager for their Neuro & Spine product segments for the American market. He admits that his work experience in the USA helped him build his sales, marketing and strategy skills and hone his critical thinking and operational understanding of business giving him immense international exposure to strategy, marketing & sales by working for these 2 great organizations in USA. His work was well appreciated by the management team he was reporting into and that is well evident from a series of recommendation letters he received from them. He had to return to India,
as he encountered immense pressure from his parents who wanted him back and pursue a career of his choice here in India. Anuj is a true Indian patriot at heart and soul, so, never planned to settle in the USA forever. Anuj enjoyed every bit of his 5 years of stay in USA by being in association with the extremely talented professional leaders. He was keen to spend another 5 years thereby, stepping up the corporate ladder at Aesculap Inc and thereafter return to India. But, his parents were adamant

to bring him back to India, being their only son. Anuj then put a condition to his father, who was the CEO of Wipro Biomed at that time, to make good use of his leadership experience in the healthcare industry in India. Anuj was finally able to convince his father by inspiring him to do something of their own in India and turn it into a professionally managed, scalable, sustainable & reputed healthcare organization in India. This instigated the need for starting a business venture in the respective domain.
Anuj aspired to capitalize on the diverse successful experience of his father, Mr Vinod Wahi and his vast professional relationship with the management teams of numerous leading healthcare clients across India. Vinod and Anuj then started scouting for global partnerships with the world renowned organizations in their own respective fields, under long-term & exclusive distribution agreements to represent them in India. Anuj returned to India in September 2005, and that concluded in setting up KanHealthcare on November 9th 2005.
A GLANCE AT THE LIFE OF MR VINOD WAHI Mr Vinod Wahi, the Chairman and CEO of KHC Healthcare India Private Limited & Founder and CEO of KanHealthcare, possesses enriched experience of being involved in 2 leadership roles for 2 well reckoned world-class organizations. He served as the CEO for Wipro Biomed for 17 years and was associated with Mr Azim Premji, the Founder Chairman of Wipro Limited. As a CEO, he played a pivotal role in the surging success of Wipro Biomed by leading a large workforce in India. Mr Vinod Wahi formed 3 divisions, Diagnostics System Group, Medical System Group & Life Science Group at Wipro Biomed & introduced in India leading foreign associates like Beckman Coulter, Bio-Rad, Becton Dickinson, Fujinon, Hewlett Packard, Agilent, Promega and others by having long-term & exclusive distribution agreements with all of them & scaled up profitable revenues for Wipro Biomed with a major focus on Beckman Coulter in India which is now part of Danaher Corporation, USA, a global USD 17 billion organization.
a long-term perspective keeping all investment decisions again in the interest of their customers, team and foreign associates. Under the unique business model of KHC, the investment made from their end started showing rapid growth, far above industry average, that also resulted in building up brand of KanHealthcare as well as of its foreign associates in India. KHC owns its Corporate Office and a Dedicated Application and Service Centre at a prime location in commercial DLF Towers in New Delhi. KHC has 7 warehouses and its 40 distributor offices located all across India to cover the entire nation, which is being supervised and managed by KHC National Sales Team who are also spread all over the country. Promoters vision was clear to take-off under Partnership Organisation, and once KanHealthcare brand is well established in about 5 years, enter in Corporate Sector and that is how KHC Healthcare India Private Limited was incorporated to become operational by taking over entire business and employees of KanHealthcare in line with promoters thinking in 2005. KanHealthcare, Brings Technology & Services became our registered brand very well known all over the country. It is important to note that KanHealthcare, our Partnership Organization, also continues to remain active by filing its quarterly and annual returns and taxes, as per legal norms applicable to Partnership organizations in India, says Anuj.
DIFFERENTIATING FACTOR The flourishing organization KHC has been associated with some of the world’s finest healthcare foreign brands who are world leaders in their respective fields. These organisations, with whom KHC continues to have a long-term and exclusive representation for the Indian market is anywhere between 11 years to 15 years and that itself speaks volumes of their commitment to each other and to the clients in India. These world class organizations with whom KHC is associated are:
Prior to this, he introduced the concept of advancement in Clinical Diagnostics in India and offered his services as the Country Head, India for Boehringer Mannheim Diagnostics, a German organization for many years, again leading a large work force in India. Now, it is known as Roche, a USD 57 billion global Pharmaceuticals and Diagnostics organization.
MINDFUL INVESTMENTS CONCLUDED IN SCALING BUSINESS VOLUMES
The insightful approach of Vinod and Anuj was to invest the resources extensively towards the betterment of the business from

the aftereffects of the Coronavirus outbreak and many continuously getting infected and tragic loss of human life. It has impacted Businesses, Jobs, Financial Markets, and World Economies, everything is at stake. Anuj is a firm believer in the power of Science, Technology & Innovation which will help the world to beat this novel virus spread across the globe. He states that nothing is permanent in life and neither is Coronavirus. Soon, the world will find a way to bail out of these challenging times. Addressing the efforts of people in India while combating the virus with high spirits, he states, “I would like to express my sincere thanks with immense gratitude to our Frontline Healthcare workers, Doctors, Nurses, Phlebotomists and entire staff of all Hospitals, Laboratories & all healthcare professionals in India who are working 24/7 to help affected patients across the country. Anuj greatly values and appreciates the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare in India which has apex bodies like the ICMR, NIV and Drugs Controller General of India who are tirelessly working round the clock and regularly monitoring & controlling the spread of this highly infectious virus. Our Central and State Governments are also doing a phenomenal job by working hand in hand and implementing policies and procedures to combat the crisis. With a population size and demographics of our country, our Central Government is doing a praiseworthy job. Anuj firmly believes that India stands on a strong wicket with over 75% recovery rate, fatality rate down to less than 2% and proudly says that our Clinical Diagnostics industry in India is doing a phenomenal job and has now ramped up the testing capacity by performing at least 1 million COVID-19 diagnostics tests on a daily basis and for accuracy, authenticity and monitoring all data and records, testing is being carried out only at ICMR approved and NABL accredited Hospital Labs
in Private and Government sector, Reference Laboratories and Stand Alone Pathology Laboratories. He is sure that with this great Government & Private partnership, the testing capacity will continue to increase. Anuj cites that our Indian Pharmaceutical industry is at the forefront to combat this virus by ramping up production for COVID-19 drugs, for treatment of symptoms of this virus and also Indian Pharmaceutical companies and Vaccine Manufacturers are in different phases of Clinical Trials for the COVID-19 vaccine that he believes will be launched sometime in 2021. I salute to our Indian Army, All Forces , Police Personnel and all those who are working round the clock for the safety of our nation across the country amid these challenging times, but, together as a nation and united with the world, we will soon get rid of these tough times. I am sure that our Indian economy will bounce back once the vaccines are launched & the herd immunity concept comes in play, as that will show the exit door to this novel Coronavirus. Until then, we all need to continue to build our resilience in order to survive during these unprecedented times and strive to become experts of this new business environment, continues the exemplary business leader.

DODGING THE PANDEMIC OUTCOMES
KHC encountered major challenges in terms of Supply Chain Management & sluggish demand of their Diagnostics product portfolio post lockdown on March 23rd and the same trend also continued in Quarter 1 for them in India. Our Sales Team, Support Team, Warehouse Team as well as our Distributors performed praiseworthy job during this time and continue the same to ensure that none of KHC clients suffer at any point of time. Our Support Team facilitated each business operation by networking with all courier companies that were operational in April and May to get things moving. Our Sales Team went to the extent of supporting the clients by picking up shipments from the airports & courier offices all across the country in person and delivering those all by themselves to their adored client base by gearing up with COVID protection gear provided by KHC to its entire team in India. Health and safety of our team continues to be our top most priority. As our products & services offered by KHC are included under essential commodities, we kept the business operations functional amid nationwide lockdown under cautious and controlled manner complying with the law of the land. But while conducting these operations, the team kept pace with the precautionary measures to prevent the spread of COVID- 19, says Anuj.

FUTURE PLANS
Anuj explains that Customer Focus is the nucleus of all our activities at KHC Healthcare, so our customers and their delight will remain our foremost priority and we are passionate to continue running the extra miles to keep our existing customers growing and prospering with our comprehensive world class services. We are also working on improved customer mining by adding more products in our existing customers and also continue adding new clients for all our foreign associates with major cross-selling opportunities our unique business model offers across the country. Anuj says while their Diagnostics business is witnessing a temporary slowdown, because, public at large still has fear visiting hospitals and laboratories amid these crisis that they might get infected with COVID-19, he sees traction in their Pharmaceuticals & Life Science business. Even if we are able to do what we did last financial year in terms of sales revenues, that itself will be a big achievement.
Diagnostic Laboratories in leading Hospitals like AIIMS, SGPGI, PGI, CMC Vellore & Ludhiana, DMCH, Tata Memorial Cancer Hospital, Tata Medical Centre, AMRI Hospital, Kokilaben Hospital, HN Reliance Foundation Hospital, PD Hinduja Hospital, Care Hospital, Apollo Group of Hospitals, Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, MAX Healthcare, BLK and many more all over the country.
He proudly says that some of these companies who are working on COVID-19 Drugs and COVID-19 Vaccines are active clients of KHC like Bharat Biotech, Zydus Cadila, Biological E, Dr Reddy Labs, CIPLA, Aurobindo Pharma, Pfizer, Biocon, Lupin and many more all over the country. Anuj mentions that India is rightly known as Pharmacy and Vaccine capital of the world, in terms of scale and ramping up the production of Pharma Drugs and Vaccines for fulfilling the needs of our own country and also smooth supplies to cater the world market.
KHC has an active client base of over 2500 clients who use their products in Clinical Diagnostics, Pharmaceuticals and Life Science segment across the country.
He mentions that in their Diagnostics business, they serve to reference clients in India like Dr Lal PathLabs, Metropolis Healthcare, SRL Diagnostics, Dr Avinash Phadke Lab, Dr Dangs Lab, Anand Diagnostics Laboratory, Supratech Micropath Laboratory, Strand Life Sciences, Unipath Speciality Laboratory, Dr Tribedi & Roy, Vimta Labs, PathKind, Core Diagnostics, S Serum Analysis Centre, many more and also Clinical
Addressing this scenario, Anuj states, “Even during the prevailing crisis, we have inducted another innovation of Visual Field Working, under which our team has been in constant touch with all their clients, as they have been doing at ground level, to scale productivity and call effectiveness. As a result of all the measures, our business has started scaling to a reasonable level to stay committed to our respective role in our Organisation. We are now fully operational since onset of September month as the economy continues to open up and our office operations and field operations are live under strict precautions to avoid spread of COVID-19. Anuj adds, we have seen economic crisis in the past as well and says he is sure that this will also pass, and mankind and businesses will thrive again with new vibrant energy.

He signs off by saying that despite the immediate challenges posed by COVID-19 and economic slowdown which he feels will pass soon, I have no doubt that KHC and we all Kanians will emerge stronger and become more valuable partner for our customers in India and our foreign associates globally. Our revised strategic and operational plan which is in momentum with these major disruptions, is aimed to drive improvement across all spheres in our quest to retain our leadership position for all our foreign associates. -Anuj Wahi

Success Story
Iffat Khan
The One Behind Building a Safe and Supportive Ecosystem for Women
Iffat Khan, a TEDx Speaker, Author, and a Breakfree Coach. She has been inspiring and transforming thousands of individuals to kick start and unleash the entrepreneur in them. A woman who founded Femipreneur and Breakfree Millions had her first stint with entrepreneurship at the age of six by her viable thought of selling things, the time when at school her friends admired her stationery and toys that were brought by her uncle from abroad. As Iffat’s uncle helped her by sourcing more imported stationery and toys, she continued to do the sales as her business was bringing around 200 percent profit until was told that, “Children of your age don’t do business, you must study”. She had to put a stop to her first entrepreneurship as she remembers failing her first standard exams.
“Once, I was the only woman in a group of 20
“
people selected for a trip to several countries, my company informed me they would like to hold me back for safety as I was the only woman in the group. They said it was for my security but it was unfair as I was looking forward to the trip ~Iffat recalls
Adding that was when she decided to quit in 2015 as she did not see any scope for growth.

After so many years that have passed, she has not let her passion for entrepreneurship go like that. Iffat is now a successful entrepreneur and a break free coach who is helping thousands of individuals and companies with her startup Femipreneur which is a YouTube channel that is named after herself, a podcast that is titled Breakfree Millions with Iffat Khan.
for handmade goods. She instructed them on having a positive and entrepreneurial mindset.
Last year, a book was published by Iffat, Break-Free – 30 ways to Break-Free into a life and business you want, in the book she shares the strategies to become an entrepreneur, describing it with her own experiences. Now she is into writing her second book which is focused on the role of failure in life.
Iffat didn’t actually face many challenges in running and managing the company but building the right team who shares the same vision as hers was difficult.
THE MOMENT OF HITTING THE RESTART BUTTON
After the completion of her Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce from the University of Calcutta in 2010, Iffat walked through a comfortable corporate life where she was performing well professionally, handling major global projects, but there came a moment when she felt like she was not meant for corporate life. In the year 2014, she founded Eccellente Solutions which is a side hustle that provided consulting-related services to young startups.
Till date, Iffat has been successful in expanding the service to everyone, Breakfree Millions Academy has mentored over 100,000 people across five countries.
CHALLENGES AND THE PATH AHEAD
Currently, Bengaluru-based Femipreneur is a team that consists of 10 employees who are working on sales, branding, and marketing. For the future, Iffat plans on expanding her social networking that can reach a million followers. Working with nearly 100 businesses and individuals so far, she is hoping to impact 10,000 businesses by working closely with entrepreneurs and coaching them.
In the same year, her first startup that provided consulting services to the young startups and entrepreneurs hit the ground. “I was left high and dry and didn’t know what to do. I had put in my time, my energy, everything into it, and lost all my money. I was under severe depression,” she shares. For Iffat, this was a turning point in her life. She stayed at home in Kolkata for less than a week, then she returned to Bengaluru and decided to set up Femipreneur. The experience she faced being treated differently as a woman made her think of building a safe and supportive ecosystem for women. She started Femipreneur despite all the odds and she was extremely satisfied with the idea as it showed results. Femipreneur was able to help the women entrepreneurs in setting up cafes and online stores

WALKING THE CX PATH TO EFFICIENT DIGITAL TRANSFORMATION Kajal Dobhal | Business Connect
AN OVERLAY OF THE BORN STORY Engaging user experience is the key to effective digital transformation today. Unfortunately, most digital agencies follow a dated approach to digital transformation. A number of legacy brands have failed to adapt in this era of constant disruption. Advertising agencies can sell a brand story quite well but face challenges with technology & integrations. Technology companies, on the other hand, face challenges in selling a brand story well. In our latest
edition “Company in focus – 2020”, we’re featuring the story of BORN GROUP - A brand transforming digital experiences across the globe. Incepted in 2011, BORN recognized the opportunities that firms can leverage, sitting at the intersection of art (creative design) and science (technology). BORN centred on “digital economy” - with a distinct emphasis on commerce. Its aspiration: to create big brand experiences through a combination of Enterprise
Commerce and Customer Experience Management. UNFOLDING THE EXEMPLARY STRATEGIES FOR ENSURING NEWFANGLED DIGITAL TRANSFORMATION With BORN’s digital approach, every marketing decision is data-driven through effective instrumentation. They have conceptualized many strategic frameworks and platform accelerators like Arctic Fox, Bulldog, Bison & Eagle on top of leading platform providers to
help their clients with a faster go-to-market on the pivots of time & cost. BORN has conceptualized digital transformation (for B2B and B2C businesses) through a signature framework: CxSxPxOxDx; where Customer Experience (Cx) dictates the consumer’s experience of the brand, Service Experience (Sx) helps the brand optimize the product/service-market fit, Physical Experience(Px) recognizes the importance of brick-andmortar stores, Operational Experience (Ox) maps the experience and efficiency of the CxSxPx value drivers to revenues, All of these drivers are underpinned by a foundation of data, which is Data Experience (Dx). BORN achieves the science of CX management through their proprietary framework, Stella. Stella incorporates three key elements: Brand Experience(BE) covers how a brand attracts and engages clients, Behavioural Experience(BE) deals with customer transactions across channels, and Book-of-Record Experience(BR) captures essential data and analyzes it through data science and back-office systems. This validates BORN’s thinking on storytelling, omnichannel, and sales for their brands, customers, and their internal team.
“
Prakash Gurumoorthy, MD APAC at BORN Group, explains: “The customer sits at the centre of all the work we do. Brands universally aspire to provide their premium offerings to delight customers, surpass their expectations, and establish new brand experience standards. Stella seeks to elevate customer engagement and conversion across connected channels.”

CONSOCIA ADVISORY Providing integrated solutions with Reputation Management, Public Affairs and Advocacy
Ashwathy Nair | Business Connect
Consocia Advisory has fast emerged as the consultancy of choice for several firms in India. When Deepak Jolly, Dr. Praveen Aggarwal, and Dr. M. Murthy co-founded the Consultancy on 20th April 2017, the calling was a body of work that will be powered by knowledge, insights, work ethic, passion, humility and respect, complemented by a vibrant dream where transparency and candor are the cornerstones of doing business. Consequently, the master thesis was born. An Advisory that practices a higher form of building and protecting brands through dialogue with the consumers, stakeholders, and opinion leaders. Our thesis is manifested through 3 converging practice areas namely – Reputation Management, Public Affairs, and Advocacy which includes GR and Public Policy and Responsible Business that is sustainability and community Development says Dr. Murthy. The vision is further expressed through the brand logo representing a source of energy for its clients to help them drive to a higher purpose and impact for their business. The disjointed lines of various lengths in their logo represent scattered ideas in a VUCA world. Consocia Advisory takes pride in being able to join these lines which stand for holistic strategic solutions to the clients. The red dot at the center of the logo symbolizes the energy and passion of Consocia, as well as the 360-degree engagement of the firm.
In words of Dr. Aggarwal - the co-founder & director “The story of Consocia is in many ways the story of the future of Brand Reputation and we take a lot of pride in being different from the current cohort of PR and Reputation Management advisory firms. What fuels our vision are value-creation, ethics, co-creation, passion, innovation, and breakthrough ideas that result in measurable top-line and bottom-line impact for clients.” The clientele includes Startups and VCs, small & medium enterprises, large Indian enterprises, global companies, and firms from the development sector, industry associations, foundations & NGOs. The sectoral spread includes the Food & Beverage sector, Retails, Consumer, Industrial, Venture Capitalists, Artificial Intelligence & IoT, FinTech, FoodTech, SportsTech,

DefenceTech, Electronics & IT, Media, Development sector, Drugs & Pharmaceuticals, and many others. Mr. Jolly says “Our Passion and ability to provide clients with an integrated solution keeping their business bottom-line in sharp focus are the two most powerful assets we bring to the table. Having been on the client-side for most of our lives, we not only comprehend what a client means when he/she asks for something; we are also able to provide them with workable, outcome-based solutions, something that we found to be missing in many of the agencies we have worked in the past. Those learnings of over three decades are coming quite handy now.” Speaking on that front, Dr. Aggarwal opines “We believe that building
in an amplified outreach. We also demonstrate value creation through measurement tools and analytics to help clients realize their business goals.” Consocia’s Research and Knowledge Insights play a pivotal role in complementing the project management team. Within Public Advocacy, research helps in mining data and information to support a case in point and create intensity around advocacy of a clients’ project. The Research and Knowledge Insights team develops in-house research data and information for purposes spanning data analysis, information gathering, and background intelligence. This enables informed business development support and robust decision making. deep relationships, insightful research and top-level engagement are more essential than paid investments. This requires a deep understanding of several sectors, the ability to create purposeful engagements and conversations with clients and deliver results consistently. A passionate team with strategic thinking and deep regard for processes are our fundamental building blocks and clients do not hesitate to endorse our capabilities at every opportunity.” Consocia’s proprietary approach integrates strategies and solutions from the realms of reputation management, public affairs, and sustainability / CSR for core building and social license strengthening as per the needs of the clients. Talking about a proactive approach Mr. Bhattacharya, Chief Partner Officer of the firm believes, “The company is far ahead in identifying issues and preparing our clients well in advance, preventing a crisis from occurring and if they do happen, mitigate the negative consequences to every possible extent. At the same time, our ability to create a confluence of earned, shared, paid, and owned media across traditional engagement channels makes our campaigns wide-spread resulting
“Illustrations of deep data mining for developing a database to provide solid and verified data-driven narratives to enhance case building and ensuring registration of gravity among stakeholders on a prevalent issue in a Central and State Government liaison project is testimony to the impact of research in project success,” says Mr. Jolly. In three years Consocia has also earned the distinction of being a specialist in handling sectoral issues and business continuity issues for industry associations – be it the shopping centers (malls), solar manufacturers, multiplexes, hotel industry, or even waste management and recycling of beverage cartons. Within this short period, the company has also won several accolades; the most recent one being recognized as the Emerging Agency of the Year in ET Brand Equity Kaleido Awards 2020 for exemplary work in Reputation Advisory, Reputational Risk and Crisis Management, Public Affairs, Public Policy and Responsible Business (encompassing Sustainability and Community Development). Mr. Jolly believes, “In the time to come, our only aim is to be recognized among the top 5 reputed ad25
visories in India and we are working relentlessly to achieve that aim. As a start-up, our biggest achievement has been to serve some of the most distinguished MNCs, Indian Companies, and the largest NGOs. Therefore, we have achieved quite a few milestones already (and counting) and at this run rate, we will be able to achieve our goal within the timelines we have set for ourselves, clocking a CAPGR of 50% year-on-year.” When we asked the Leadership Team if they still come back to work with the same zeal, like they did when they started, Mr. Bhattacharya smiled and replied “Oh! More than we ever. The excitement is just the same as it was when we first started our careers. We are a start-up and if there is something that keeps us going – it is the never say never attitude and the constant hunger to deliver one successful campaign after another.” Consocia Advisory also strives to give back to society. Some of the campaigns that Consocia has supported are to create a more responsible society including large mass media campaigns on responsible road behavior and responsible drinking. With over 10% of Indians suffering from respiratory diseases, the team has taken on a very important mandate to foster dialogue and interventions for Asthma and COPD across several States in the country. They worked to determine how to bring a shift in government policies to help those patients. Currently, the company is working in aiding the burden of disease on hearing impairment, which affects over 21% of Indians. The team is also supporting a national campaign to safeguard senior citizens from the Covid-19 pandemic. “We have also contributed towards digitization of India through a campaign which was specifically aimed at promoting inclusive growth as a part of the Government’s “Digital India” program and it was extremely well-received by all stakeholders,” says Mr. Jolly.

Health
A Dynamic Relationship Between Health And Economy
The performance of your health is completely reflected on the economy as well as on the health systems. Investing upon health is not just a desirable, but also an essential priority for most societies. Though, our health systems often face challenges that are tough as well as complex, in some part derived from new pressures like aging populations, growing prevalence of chronic illnesses, and intensive use of expensive yet vital health technologies. Additionally, we must deal with higher expectations of citizens and resolving persistent inequities in access and in health conditions among different groups. Wondering about the issue of how to ensure the financial sustainability of health systems, while creating a positive contribution towards the macroeconomic performance, it has moved to the top of the policy agenda that is across the OECD area. The ample work undertaken in the OECD Health Product has intended at providing policymakers with the evidence that they are needed to promote more value for money in the health sector while confirming universal access, equity along with raising the quality of care. There is a lot that has been learned even though there is more to discover.

In order to brief about the relationship between health and economic growth, it is necessary to understand the concept of health in a broad sense. When we talk about health, it is not only the absence of illnesses but also the ability of people to develop to their potential during their entire lives. In accordance with that health is an asset that individuals possess, which has an important source of well-being as well as instrumental value. In terms of instrumental, health impacts economic growth in a number of ways. For instance, it reduces the production losses due to worker illness, it also increases the productivity of adults as a result of better nutrition and its lower absenteeism rates and improves learning among school children. Health also agrees for the usage of natural resources that might normally be destined for the treatment of ill health. Health has its effects on economic growth directly through the productivity of labor and the economic burden of illnesses. Health also has an impact on economic growth indirectly since aspects such as child health affect the future income of people through the impact that health has on education. This kind of indirect impact is way easier to understand if it is observed on a family level. When a family is healthy, both the father and mother can hold a job and earn money that allows them in feeding, protecting, and sending their children to school. When children are healthy and well-nourished, they will perform better in school and this would lead to a positive impact on their future income. Also, the health loss affects the poor to a great level, as at times the only asset they acquire to have is their body.

Ground-breaking Business Trends for FOOD & BEVERAGE Companies There is always a change of preference, that’s a human nature where people often get bored with choosing the same kind of meal every day. Bold flavors and meal-replacing snacks are always at the lead when it comes to food preferences, health, and wellness, immunity-boosting food. Consumers are more often nowadays, looking forward to nutrition-packed foods. An increase in the demand for healthier, quality frozen food products to fit in with changing lifestyle, more importantly for the maturing millennial generation who are busy in making a balance between a healthy family and career. The millennial consumers are more “clean eaters” than any other generation and intend to have a strong interest in what they are eating, how is it made, and by whom. Today is a generation that lives in a world where they can instantly access to information and if the consumer is unable to understand or find out about how a product is made and what is it inside it, they simply choose to leave it behind and switches to alternative products made by companies that have a more convincing and genuine commitment to sustainability and improvement of the environment.
Safety, Sustainability, and Transparency is all that matters Consumers are more into demanding information about the food they eat, food safety is the main thing food and beverage industries focus on and it is now costing billions each year. The industry finds it more important to pinpoint safety issues immediately; from the people who are growing to the manufacturer, distributor, and beyond. The food companies need to be more focused on waste reductions as the consumers are more into demanding sustainable, transparent production and packaging in the products they purchase. As per the customer’s demand, the quality control and safety of the food products must be at the top.

The innovative way to automate repetitive processes that provide good opportunities for businesses in the matter of improving production, back-office processes, supply management, fulfillment, and delivery. Adding to that, using acquired consumers and business data for better business decision-making will be implementing a comprehensive digital strategy.
Merger and Acquisitions Companies looking forward to spreading their investments across smaller brand acquisitions in accordance to round out product and geographic portfolios versus investing in their own research and development to help in saving time as well as money and reaching new customers. Private Equity (PE) companies that have operated in the consumer brand space will have a need to adjust their strategy along with looking for deals further down the market. The companies will even take on acquisitions in segments that have better prospects as a salty snack food, snack bars, cookies, and ready-to-eat meals, even if they are outside their traditional business.

IN TERMS OF YOUR MARKET, WHAT DO YOU FEEL THE FUTURE HOLDS FOR ENTREPRENEURS? Understanding its position in the market, we derive the scale needed to cut costs and remain competitive. We believe that the oil and gas sector is likely to be dynamic over the next few years. Hence, the ability to assess and accurately value potential targets faster than the competition will be critical. In this sector, prices are said to be on the recovering stage. Still, most oil giants are cautious about new initiatives with major capital expenditures. Many MNCs are still figuring out the essence of the cost issue. Likewise, this has proven difficult for the firm to distinguish real threats from – new competition, challenging bidding procedures and risk-sharing arrangements. We realize that the industry has dramatically changed and looking for cost-effective solutions. Hence, we are better equipped to compete. HOW NECESSARY DO YOU FEEL IS IT TO KEEP YOUR EMPLOYEES CONTENT, HOW DO YOU ENSURE It? We started small with two people. Still, we are growing, along with growth, challenges are also growing. However, every day we think about how we can serve our clients the best way. Our team is passionate about the work and that keeps us moving. We are adding our client base every month and repeat orders are also motivating us to excel further. We have created an employee-friendly environment for our staff. We provide equal opportunity to everyone and always welcome suggestions. We conduct various training programs to hone their technical as well as soft skills. HOW ARE YOU GIVING BACK TO SOCIETY? Education
Education Has Put off Physical Classrooms and Shifted to Online Classes The best days were when schools and colleges were open and students were seen rushing to school in neat and tidy uniforms with bags in their shoulders and sometimes running with those heavy bags to not get late. After reaching school, to stand for morning prayers and then some physical activities, after that straight to the classrooms filled with our classmates. The same way for college, when students were always confused with what to wear today, what period to bunk and go to the canteen, etc. Those days now seem to be just a memory to cherish. An education center is the best public policy tool available to raise skills. While school/college time can be fun along with raising social skills and social awareness if we look from an economic point of view the primary point of being in school/college was that it helped in increasing a child’s ability. But the arrival of COVID-19 has led to the departure of students going to education centers. Well! we say a coin has its two sides, the same way this too has both good and bad impressions but let’s just go for a positive version because 2020 has brought us enough negative things. Whatever the condition comes, one should never stop learning, and if one way of going to an educational center is closed than open another way of e-learning. The arrival of Covid-19 has forced schools and universities across the world to put off physical classrooms and shifted to online classes. While the faculty deals with the new ways of managing this sudden transition to online education, students are left clinging on to their mobile phones and computer screens.
FUTURE EDUCATION SYSTEM
The new way of learning where courses are conducted online, examinations are conducted online, assignments are submitted through email. For India, this seems to be a good opportunity to strengthen internet connectivity across rural India. It will help every village and town to be digitally connected for the better interaction between the students and teachers. When it comes to the students some are quick at adapting this system and some take a little longer time to acquaint with this system. Fundamental structural changes should be made in the curriculum/syllabi and programs should be a part of the curriculum in engineering and science degree programs. This will help in creating future entrepreneurs and this can be one way to help beat unemployment and increase business skills amongst the youth. The business community should play a foremost role in this new educational system. Higher education in India needs to be more international but more locally connected and socially responsible, more flexible(curriculum), should be innovative and open for more collaboration. Innovative models should be introduced, Universities/institutes could be online that would provide internet-based flexible offerings. The Post Covid-19 is an opportunity we look forward to transforming the higher education system. Institutes/Universities should definitely utilize this opportunity to transform itself. the focus should be more on internationalizing higher education as today we are facing Covid-19 but no one knows what lies ahead in the future for millions of youngsters.

It may sound so simple but this Sanskrit classic by Veda Vyāsa is full of deep meanings. The Mahabharata was written in Dvapara Yuga and each adhaya of it consists of understanding beyond the story, character, and the war. The history of Mahabharata brings forward the complex interpretation of wealth, life, death, ideas, perspective, humanity, success, expectations, and a lot more. Since our childhood, we often have heard from our mother or grandmother about Dharma (right way of living), Karma (deed or action), rebirth, soul, moksha (liberation). The Mahabharata brings forward some good lessons that can reconstruct one’s personal as well as professional lives in Kalyug. The lessons of sacrifice, pledge, and devotions might seem to us like the easiest one to follow but they are the greatest asset one can hold on their lives especially in the World of Business. Devavrata, who is also known as BhishmaPitamaha had taken the pledge of celibacy by sacrificing his ‘crownprince’ for the sake of his father Shantanu who was the Kuru king of Hastinapur.

HERE ARE THE LESSONS FROM MAHABHARATA THAT WOULD LEAD YOU IN RESHAPING YOUR LIFE AS AN ENTREPRENEUR: 1. Play along by the rules In Ramayan, king Ram who is an avatar of Lord Vishnu is the central character who follows the rules. Whereas, in Mahabharata Lord Krishna is seen playing along by the rules. In Business, the life of a businessman is similar to that at times you are supposed to make rules and make sure that your fellow members follow it. And there are times when you need to be one of them and play along as it would increase productivity. 2. SIMPLE SOLUTIONS ARE ENOUGH TO HANDLE CRISIS When Arjun entered Yudhisthira(the eldest Pandav) and Draupadi’schamber searching for his bow, she didn’t like the interruption and in anger, she took an extreme step. When in a company someone fails to perform, it is not necessary to take tough steps but can be compensated by simple logical measures.
5. THE TRUE WORTH OF POWER IS WHEN USED FOR OTHERS An incident in Mahabharata teaches you that Dharma is thinking about others. An incident where Yudhishtira was at a point where he can save only one of his siblings and he chose Nakul, the one who was born to Madri another wife of Pandu. When asked why? He explained, “I Kunti’s son is alive, one of Madri’s son should live too”. How you apply to have a theoretical understanding of Dharma practically describes what kind of figurehead you can be.
3. CONSEQUENCES OF HURT AND EGO Time passes but some things have not changed in all these years! Draupadimade a mistake by making fun of Duryodhana (eldest of the Kauravas) by calling him a blind son of blind parents, not realizing what one comment could do. The journey of entrepreneurship is stood upon testing our patience. There are times when the company rises to the cloud of success that leaves a negative imprint by making partners, employees stand against each other. A successful business is more in need of friends rather than enemies. Support from both big and small associates are needed.
When you are running a company, you are required to take decisions at a time that might not be best for you but it would make others gratified. Although, it may not look like a wise decision at a time, but you will get the fruits of it. It is said that a man of integrity goes a long way in entrepreneurship. When it’s a matter of sustaining the business, knowledge, skill, and merit is what matters. However, for most of them, it’s the linage that holds extreme importance. The company you are running is your responsibility, not your property. Each person from the ground level is responsible for its creation. Your employees require a good leader that would lead and help them in growing up the company to the highest.
4. CONTROL YOUR DEMONS NOT TO DESTROY EVERYTHING The famous saying, the one who gamble, lose all! It reminds us of a famous game of dice from Mahabharata where Yudhishtira places everything at stake which includes his Kingdom, wealth, brother, and wife Draupadi. This gives a lesson that even the virtuous king couldn’t think of the failure and lost everything. In business, sometimes even the smartest men in the office, just for the sake of winning puts everything at risk and loses them in a moment that took years to build.

SCHWITZ BIOTECH
PIONEERING THE GLOBAL MARKET IN PHARMACEUTICAL FORMULATIONS Dr. Amit Mishra | Business Connect Pharmaceuticals is one of the prominent and rapidly growing industries in India. With the advent of globalization, Pharmaceutical Companies in India have seen radical growth, with respect to exports and domestic business. Indian pharma companies are the biggest international suppliers of Generic Medicines. They occupy a 20% share of the global supply volume and facilitate up to 62% of the global demand, for vaccines. On the other hand, the expertise to reverse-engineer and other innovative methodologies has helped in devising cost-effective medicines and create a niche in both the national and international market. Schwitz Biotech is a global pioneer of the pharmaceutical arena with more than 2 decades of stellar business.
AT A GLANCE
O tacharjee | CE Rakesh Bhat
Schwitz Biotech is a WHO–GMP, ISO-9001:2008 certified, D&B & Crisil Rated Pharmaceutical Manufacturing unit, leading the arena on exceptional quality and commitment to delivery. Headquartered in Ahmedabad, the company manufactures and exports a wide range of pharmaceutical formulations like tablets, capsules, syrup, Injections, ointment, soft gels, and parenteral on a large volume. Alternatively, they also curate products for Nutraceuticals, Homeopathy, herbal preparations, Disposable surgical equipment and innovative APIs as well. Schwitz Biotech follows the guidelines of WHO, GMP and FDA, helping it to maintain the best quality standard in the market.
INCEPTION & GROWTH
Schwitz Biotech was born from the ingenious mind of Mr Rakesh Bhattacharjee. Rakesh is a seasoned personage of the pharmaceutical arena having around 3 decades of experience. Rakesh is an ideal example of unorthodox Leadership. During his professional stint, his innovative ideas had attributed the growth of many companies. However, this was not enough for Rakesh, as he wanted to thrive as an entrepreneur. As such, during his last employment in 1994, Rakesh made up his mind to utilize his professional experience and available resources. This motivation eventually led him to conceive Schwitz Biotech in 1998. However, starting in an early era of innovation, Schiwitz Biotech lacked the appropriate infrastructure/ facility to manufacture its own merchandise. But, emerging technologies helped them establish a state-of-the-art production facility, that can meet the sizeable demand of the market. Schwitz Biotech produces more than 700 varieties of medicines. On another note, maintaining a multicontinental export pipeline has been a significant challenge. As such, Schwitz Biotech had to complete all the regulatory compliances against every nation, which assisted them in maintaining a global presence. They started their exports in 2004 and flourished across three continents and 18-19 countries namely • Africa:Nigeria, Sierra Leone, Liberia, Rep-De-Guinea, Benin Togo, Ghana, Mozambique & Malawi, Kenya, Swaziland, Botswana, Angola and Chad. • CIS Countries: Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan and Moldova. • Central American Countries: Dominican Republic, Guatemala, El-Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua, etc. • Asian Countries: India, Bangladesh & Sri Lanka, Bhutan, Cambodia, Myanmar and East Timor. • Arabian countries: Kuwait, Iraq and Yemen. www.businessconnectindia.in | Vol. 3 | Special Edition September 2020 INDIA

EXCEPTIONAL QUALITY STANDARDS
Pharmaceuticals is one of the most volatile spaces in the industry. During its inception, Schwitz Biotech faced a meagre competition, helping them grow exponentially. However, The ever-changing preferences of the customers have stimulated the arrival of innovative players, making the sphere exceedingly competitive. Nowadays, customers take note of every detail from packaging to the quality, which qualifies the image of the brand. Henceforth, to be a gamechanger in this lot, Schwitz biotech emphasized on 100% quality assurance.“For us, quality is not a departmental obligation, it is significant for everything and everyone, in the organization”, says Mr. Bhattacharjee. Schwitz Biotech follows the SOPs as per the WHO-GMP norms further specified in the US, British & Indian Pharmacopoeia, for each of the operations. Schwitz Biotech also has an in-built research lab, for the study and examination of drug components. They also conduct demonstrations to measure product quality and curate solutions in case of complications.
THE PANDEMIC & ITS CHALLENGES
The Novel Coronavirus has made a significant impact on the Indian Pharma Industry on many aspects. Indian Pharma companies heavily rely on China for their imports on APIs. The outbreak and the lockdown subsequently slowed the production of API, affecting the availability and prices of key ingredients, which skyrocketed the prices of essential medicines.Theprices of vitamins and penicillin tablets have also increased substantially. Schwitz Biotech had taken a significant hit in the domestic venture. Since a limited number of doctors were functioning externally, the supply of their medicines went downhill. But on the other hand, the outbreak has significantly amplified its exports. Due to the boycott China initiative, a significant number of demands shifted to Schwitz Biotech. Rakesh proudly asserts, “Many Countries who imported pharma products from China have turned to us, this has given us a competitive advantage”.

After Two Years of Voda Idea Merge, It Integrates to Create a New Identity It has been two years now since the biggest merger in India’s telecoms market between Vodafone and Idea have been completed to form the country’s largest telecom operator. But it found itself in the unenviable position and was fighting a desperate battle for survival. The whole telecom value chain- from Vodafone Idea’s employees to its consumers have been waiting for some resolution. Now, just when Vodafone Idea got off in India, its joint venture telecom business in the country has sent out a strong signal that it is back to the field and will continue to be around for the years to come. It plans to rebrand itself as the debt-ridden telecom’s carrier after it has been losing customers, has planned to change its image. Vodafone Idea announced a combined brand identity that would strengthen its position as a major telecom provider in India. The comeback of Vodafone Idea with rebranding
itself now will be known as ‘Vi’ (pronounced as We) and will also be coming up with a new logo. The managing director and chief executive officer of Vodafone Idea Ravinder Takkar said on the significance of the new brand ‘Vi’ by addressing the media that, “Vodafone Idea came together as a merged entity two years ago. We have, since then focused on integrating the two large networks, our people, and processes. And today, I am delighted to present Vi.” The unified brand will be focusing on improving digital services for the customers in India. In its fashion business, the company aims to onboard 50 brands and over 250 local manufacturers in the first phase, across Gurugram, Delhi, and Bengaluru.

Differentiating Flipkart from its wider competitors, the online retailer’s wholesale unit plans to use insights from its parent’s business-toconsumer segment. Adarsh Menon, Senior Vice-President and Head of Flipkart Wholesale said that “Because of all the data that we have of customers on Flipkart and Myntra, we understand what customers are buying specific to the catchment in which the Kirana (corner store) is located. So, if you are a Kirana in Koramangala in Bengaluru or in Patel Nagar in Delhi, Flipkart Wholesale will serve you a curated assortment based on what customers in the same catchment are shopping and browsing for”.

The logistics will be taken care of by the company’s own unit, Ekart.
