Even after 9 yearsFounder of talking to the same client on an everyday basis, we pick the client calls with the same enthusiasm. Even today we pay attention to smaller details. Even today we respond and dedicate our time and resources to our older clients with the same passion. We cannot take our clients or us for granted. Being complacent in the execution will be the biggest pitfall one can face in Event Industry. Business Connect: In terms of the event sector, what do you feel the future holds for entrepreneurs? H&S SUPPLY CHAIN SERVICES PVT. LTD.
REDUCING GLOBAL CARBON FOOTPRINT THROUGH EFFICIENT SUPPLY CHAINS Yashasvi Khushu | Business Connect
In the B2B SCM space, H&S Supply Chain Services Pvt. Ltd. has created a profound and an enormous impact. With exemplary services to its clients, the company has made a mark for itself.
COMPANY PROFILE AND ITS OFFERINGS
H&S is a pioneer in 3.5PL services in India. The organization’s offerings are categorized into two phases: Consultative and Executional. In the Consultative phase, it works with companies and helps them to build an ideal supply chain model that is optimal for their business needs and environment. The company ideates through several models, and’ zero in’ on the model that best fits the client’s requirements. It also costs the model out for the client (how much will it cost the client to run this model). Once the model is finalized, the company goes ahead, and executes the model for the client – it actually runs warehouses and transportation services, inventory management, etc. – at predefined prices that are fixed right at the beginning of year. In other words, H&S Supply Chain Services are not mere consultants who build a model and leave it to the client to execute. The company works with the client and takes over the entire executional responsibility as well, insulating the client from any variance between what’s built in a theoretical model and what is actually executed on the ground. Selvam VMS, the Founder & CEO, states, “Through these offerings, we drive towards our vision of ‘Reducing Global Carbon Footprint through building Efficient Supply Chains.’” To ensure an unbreakable faith of clients in the company, H&S Supply Chain Services follows an indispensable mantra which says, “Don’t just meet, beat client expectations.” To deliver exemplary services, the company spends a significant amount of time with clients to understand their real underlying problems, and after a deep analysis, work overtime to solve them. As a principle, the venture builds product features that clients really require, and directly affects clients’ deep needs. This approach helps in accomplishing two essential things: it helps to address the biggest pain points of customers, and thereby ensuring highest levels of client satisfaction, and the company’s people are internally able to allocate resources (time, energy and money) to building solutions appropriately, thus avoiding wastage of resources on ‘low return’ areas.

I strongly believe that once people are oriented towards a worthy objective and make the fruits of their efforts, there is a very little governance or oversight required afterwards.

As this cycle (spending time with clients, understanding client requirements, building solution, delivering value) stabilizes, the organization experiences an enormous trust build-up with clients and appropriate use of the resources as well. The organization has been privileged to work with several industry leading clients. Over the past 4 years, it has worked with a multitude of several clients such as Butterfly Kitchen Appliances, one of the India’s topmost kitchen appliances brand, ITC Limited, Marico Limited, Medimix Soaps, Gold Winner Sunflower Oil, etc.
MATCHING UP WITH THE TECHNOLOGY
In today’s era of an advancing technology, H&S has invested a lot of resources in the domain. The company has classified its technology initiatives into two buckets – client facing and internal efficiency building. Client facing initiatives involve significant Research & Development. Through a subsidiary called DiscoveryIoT, H&S is working on several path-breaking technologies including Internet of Things (IoT), Artificial Intelligence (AI), and Blockchain Technology. H&S is India’s first and probably only Supply Chain Company to have piloted Blockchain and IoT technology in a warehouse setting. On the other hand, internal www.businessconnectindia.in | Vol. 1 | Issue 10 May 2019 INDIA
efficiency building tools provides an aid to achieve one or more of the three metrics of cost, quality, and time. It is the one and only start up in this space to work on superior Business Intelligence Tools that help H&S to gain tremendous visibility into daily operations. It is the availability of such tools that has helped its scale from a meager 10,000 square ft. of operations in 2015 to more than 5Lakh square ft. today. These tools have helped the company to govern and monitor operations with no or minimal loss of efficiencies. Vision based operations is another area of keen interest for the company, and it has invested a lot of resources in this direction. H&S foresees a time where operations will be completely controlled through vision based hardware like cameras, in conjunction with Machine Learning algorithms.
GREAT WORKFORCE
For a company to flourish there is a great team work involved. Selvam VMS, the founder, states, “Right from the beginning, I have been fortunate to have an exemplary team working alongside me. We are a bunch of young members (the average age of our team is less than 29 years).” As H&S expands, delegation and self-measurement have been two cornerstones of its evolution. [ 10 ]
H&S pays a great heed to transparency; a lot of strenuous efforts the organization is putting to achieve. As a tightly knit organization, the reputed organization operates on the basis of trust, where literally everyone has an access to most of the information about all the aspects of company - its operations, clients, pricing models, cost structure, pipeline etc. “Once these principles are established, the team basically becomes self-driven, with very little supervision requirement. This also has built a culture of ownership throughout the team, which helps us to navigate market challenges with minimal turbulence.” -Margaret Ignatius, Sr Manager - HR In every organization, there is a necessity to raise the energy levels of the employees through various interesting activities. On the same notion, H&S undertakes a host of employee engagement activities which include training sessions, team activities, annual employee conferences, family meet-ups, monthly outings, etc. At a professional level, ability to work independently without interference from the management side helps the team to maintain high levels of energy. H&S also runs several unique and strong ‘Entrepreneur Building’ programs, which groom employees to become self-reliant in the long run. Pre-qualified team members go through several modules of training which helps them to become standalone entrepreneurs.
CROSSES DURING COMMENCEMENT
Like other startups, H&S underwent through numerous obstacles during initial days of its inception. Each startup faces a three-pronged battle – customer, product and regulatory. The foremost challenge is whether the product fits a market requirement or not. When this organization was launched, the first thing that the company wanted to know was whether there are potential customers facing the problem that it set out to solve or not, and whether they were willing to pay for it. During the process, one very important learning was that in India, though there were numerous challenges faced by brands or companies in the SCM space, and
[ 11 ]
despite the fact that the company’s solutions actually made their lives easier, but their willingness to pay was very low. Either customers couldn’t visualize how its solutions benefited them, or were not valuing the benefits offered. And given that SCM is a highly cost conscious space, H&S faced a lot of financial issues during the initial stage. After a few customer meetings, the company decided to undertake a POC i.e. Proof of Concept approach. In this methodology, H&S took very small portions of the client’s SCM, and built solutions to optimize that portion. Once, the company was able to demonstrate the benefits to clients in the micro-environment, it turned out to be an ‘Aha! Moment’, resulting in increased acceptance of its solution. Through this approach, the H&S was able to quickly establish its product market fit, and focus on growing the client base. The CEO says, “The most indispensable learning in navigating through early challenges is to build a strong and trustworthy team that can support you during the initial turbulence. I would place a strong premium on candidates who are willing to stretch beyond regular job descriptions and beyond regular work hours. The key is to realize that one cannot navigate through early challenges alone, and needs support there.”

its core value system of reducing global carbon footprint. H&S refused to undertake such revenue opportunities, and in retrospect, these are some of the best decisions that the organization made.
Lacking this would severely handicap an early stage entrepreneur, and I would strongly urge novice entrepreneurs to build this support system in the initial days.”
ADAPTED TO THE LATEST NEEDS OF MARKET
Another prominent mistake that most entrepreneurs make is over engineering. In an effort to build something beautiful, companies end up adding extra features to the product that the customer does not value. At early stages, all companies face severe resource constraints. Hence this must be avoided at all costs. “Only build what the customer needs, and is willing to pay for.” - Selvam VMS At several times, H&S had a multitude of opportunities to achieve revenue traction at the cost of compromising
www.businessconnectindia.in | Vol. 1 | Issue 10 May 2019 INDIA
Over the years, the company has witnessed clients’ evolving from viewing SCM service providers as partners in business, rather than mere vendors. Clients’ expectations have moved from an Availability and Accuracy framework to a Partnership and Advice framework. Clients now look at their SCM partners to adapt quickly to the changing needs of their business environment, with minimal or zero disruption to operations. The company has been extremely proactive and been ahead of the curve in handling such market dynamics changes. It continues to keep a very open view towards market changes in the near future, and is making necessary investments in infrastructure and talent to handle these changes efficiently. One such case has been the growth of e-commerce as a channel for most of the clients. When the venture started in 2015, e-commerce as a channel represented less than 0.5% of the sales volume for clients. It has drastically increased to about 10-15% now. With this, all the associated complications in delivery requirements have also increased manifold. Prabhakaran Nambiar, the COO adds “We at H&S have built out exclusive verticals and talent pools to handle this requirement, and have consistently [ 12 ]
been delivering 99+% OTIF in the e-commerce vertical compared to 88-89% in the industry.”
THE NOBLE VISION
The visionary states “Right at the commencement, I made a promise to my employees that we would strive to be a bootstrapped and self-funded organization. Despite the significant long term financial investments that we have made, we have successfully remained selffunded. While I personally do not have anything against raising VC/PE funds, my team and I would never do so at the cost of compromising on our core value systems. For us, the planet comes before profit, and our core vision of reducing global carbon footprint is non-negotiable. If our future course of action requires us to raise external funds, we would be open to partnering with like-minded VCs, who share our vision.”
TRANSFORMATION IN THE ENTREPRENEURIAL WORLD
There have been extremely significant changes in the entrepreneurial space over the past few years. One can eas-
[ 13 ]
ily correlate this with the volume of investment (Angel/ VC/PE) activity that has accompanied this dynamism. Though the initial fervor of buying sales has died down, strong business models have continued to sustain successfully. One of the biggest changes that the company witnessed, and have rode through, was the shift from a service approach to a product approach. There has been a surge in activity in spaces that have tried to replace services with automated interfaces or product interfaces. Also, the appetite for alliances and partnerships among players has seen a significant improvement.
INSPIRATIONAL BOOKS
Books are the portals to an immense knowledge and information. Two of the best and inspirational books that Selvam learnt a lot from are “First, Break All the Rules” from Gallup; and “Work Rules!” from Laszlo Bock of Google. The former book talks about creating great managers in the organizations who can inspire employees to deliver exemplary results for organizations. The second book is a great insight into how Google operates, and how smaller organizations can adapt to the learning and principles into their daily operations, and transform themselves.

The Rebounding of Microfinance Institutions What Young Entrepreneurs need to Know
• The ultimate objective of microfinance is to enhance easy accessibility, cost-effective and sustainable financial services or microloans to the budding entrepreneurs, unemployed youths, low earning individuals, a financially poor section of the society, or micro or small enterprises, resulting in raising their incomes or establishment of a profitable business. • According to the Global MPI report 2018, India has made remarkable progress by drastically reducing its poverty rate from 55% to 28% in the last 10 years. With the recent declaration of new ventures in different Start-up sectors, to set up the sustainable

entrepreneurship ecosystem driven by government’s financial inclusion agenda, the microfinance in India, with substantial opportunities, is emerging strongly and making a comeback after facing the challenges of demonetization. Sustainable rural development can be attained by focussing on microfinance because of its supportive and self-employment role. The overall GLP (Gross loan portfolio) of microfinance is expected to increase at a CAGR of 28% in 2022. In recent years, the era changer step taken by Prime Minister Narendra Modi towards e-government with a tag line “we move with the dream of electronic digital India....”, with an aim to “Transform India into digitally empowered society and knowledge economy”, has come up with e-Shakti (Apps also available) or digitisation of SHGs (Self Help Groups), an initiative of Micro Credit and Innovations Department of NABARD, and Digital India, to integrate the government departments, the people of the country (including villagers and farmers) and to ensure effective governance. Altogether these
[ 14 ]
steps have supported the concept of microfinance companies to raise funds, understanding the tremendous potential of the concept in eradicating poverty in developing nations. Entrepreneurs can’t take off in the absence of necessary funding. To dream of solving problems with innovations is good, but the ground realities need to be taken into consideration in this successful entrepreneurship journey. To face the financial burden along with the cut-throat competition of the business world is the usual problem faced in Start-ups businesses. Usually, most people have no or limited access to public financial services.
However, the obvious question arises is How to resolve the financial part of Start-ups?”
Monitoring the financial situation of clients and educating borrowers about better money management gives microfinance system an upper hand to the traditional loan offered by the banks. SIDBI (Small Industries Development Bank in India), HDFC Bank, Reliance, ICICI Bank, SBI Bank, etc. are the leading formal sector microfinance providers in India.
What is microfinance?
Microfinance offers financial and non-financial services to the budding entrepreneurs, (especially women) and men, including self-employed who are not accessible to the traditional banking system. A microfinance bank (or microfinance institute) is the organization which offers such services, it can be a credit union, commercial bank, financial NGOs, or a credit cooperative. Microfinance includes microcredit or microloan, “micro” means “small in scale”, the provision of small loans to underprivileged clients who have innovative business ideas but are not in a financial situation to execute the Start-up venture. The long history of indigenous banking and money lending dates back to Vedic times, around 2000 to 1400 B.C. Currently, there are three models prevalent in Indian microfinance sector-(1) JLG (Joint Liability Group) (2) SHG (Self Help Group) (3) SHG Bank Linkage
Microfinance services are programmed in order • • • •
To generate sustainable activities to enhance income To lessen external business upsets To raise the living conditions of entrepreneurs and their families To empower Budding Entrepreneurs and Women
What are microfinance banks?
Microfinance institutions or banks are playing a significant role in women empowerment in India. By offering financial services to the underprivileged women or men of the country, these institutions have opened the door for thousands of young women or men who are looking for their economic growth. Uneducated, poor and unemployed women or men usually face lots of issues to access loans from traditional lending organizations and this is where the microfinance banks have come to their rescue. They provide women or men access to finance services and offer them easy loans, savings accounts, insurance, and several others as per their eligibility and requirement. Maharastra and Bihar have the largest number of microfinance institutions operating under the JLG or SHG hybrid model.
Salient points of microfinance •
Creditors are from the low-income section • Loans comprise small amount – micro-credits or microloans • Loans are for Short duration • Loans given are without security or guarantee • Frequency of repayment is high • Loans are usually considered for income generation purpose
India is currently one of the most promising markets for microfinance in the world, by successfully running Microfinance institutions in lots, and having an outstanding market potential in the Microfinance Industry. An enormous number of the government and non-governmental organizations (NGOs) are running several projects to uplift the life of the unbanked and underbanked section with a significantly high success rate. Recent upsurge seen in the Start-up microfinance industry has given a green signal towards sustainable growth, with the expectation to create a miraculous impact by the union of Machine learning and Artificial Intelligence, to be the key driver in the Next generation sustainable microfinance distribution model. sis during the time of my internships with different companies, I came to an understanding that there is immense potential of event management in tier 2 and tier 3 cities, and while I was in Mumbai and doing my degree in event management, after working in metro cities I realized, this venture would be a risk worth taking.

Initially, this started as a seasonal business, but we realized that working seasonally is not going to help us grow, so we started working on other verticals as well, which helped us with business all through the year and not just seasonally.
Business Connect: What part of your success do you credit to your co-workers? Mr. Rughani: 110%, this is completely a team game, they make the impossible possible, they are on foot for long working hours, they sacrifice a lot of family time and holidays that otherwise people enjoy because when the world is celebrating, we are busy making the celebration possible. There are times when the working hours are stretched to sometimes 48 hours as well, they are still working, and my team is making everything possible.
We now take care of everything from conferences, seminars, training programs to private functions and parties. We also started to think of the upcoming competition that was anticipated, and we ensured that we keep bringing in new concepts and trends without looking repetitive. So even if now it is a highly competitive market, we introduce the experts to the field and ensure the best comes out. Today we have successfully bagged ample titles to cherish our hard work that crushed our obstacles like; ES Hospitality Pvt. Ltd. got the best upcoming banquet award. Entertainment Sportz got the India leadership award 2018 for Best Event Management Company in Gujarat. Entertainment Sportz also won India 5000 MSME Award for quality excellence. Entertainment Sports is also the top 10 most promising Event Management companies in India. Business Connect: How do you ensure the unbreakable faith of the client? Mr. Rughani: ‘WE NEVER SAY NEVER’ and give our customers an experience that they cherish for a lifetime. Execution is the key to the complete aspect and the experience that we cater to our clients, it’s about how flawless and personal can you get with the event. Business Connect: Why do you believe will the client come to you and not go somewhere else? Mr. Rughani: In events, the concept is the key, how far can you go from their imagination, and providing them with something that they would only have dreamt of but not actually expected. So, we are always serving a challenge that we must over live the expectations of the clients. Today the bandwidth and the spending capacity of people are far more than we think it is, and they are willing to [ 17 ]
Business Connect: Do you believe R&D is necessary for the growth of the business? Mr. Rughani: Yes, very much, the whole differentiation factor for us is dependent on the R&D and the creativity that we do before meeting the client and showcasing them what best we got.
Business Connect: How have you ensured a smooth infusion of technology in your business? Mr. Rughani: Technology plays a very important role for us, even if you look at the trends in the future; technology is going to be a very game-changing aspect. We create digital albums, all the functions as they are happening in the present are being fed live to people sitting across any part of the world, now there is no hassle of making physical albums, everything has gone digital, you can just forward links and you’re sorted. Business Connect: What does the future hold for the company? Mr. Rughani: In future, we are looking for collaborations, you are judged by the kind of brands you collaborate with, and currently collaborations are the trends, a lot of business will be lost if there are no good collaborations happening for your venture. Business Connect: How are you giving back to society? Mr. Rughani: We work hand in hand with rotary international, no food goes waste from our events, and it is always ensured that it is distributed among the needy. We do a lot of events in government schools, we reuse the resources in these school events that had been used for our high profile clients, it’s better than wasting them off. The event industry is thriving right now and this can be witnessed in the popularity of the sector. And with companies like Entertainment Sportz coming into the picture, the need to fret over making arrangements has saturated to zero. They have single-handedly ensured the entire process to be smooth by delivering experiences to their customers that they will cherish for a lifetime. “I like photography, traveling, sports, so I basically have put together all my interests and made a business out of it”, Mr. Karan Rughani www.businessconnectindia.in | Vol. 1 | Issue 10 May 2019 INDIA
Event U Rox
Crafting a Niche by Making Your Events the Talk of the Town
Nithin Nagaraja
Group Business Head, Event U Rox
Vikas Jha | Business Connect he present scenario for events today is just the right illustration of how transition works in the industry. It is filled with eye-catching innovations, enthusiastic creative heads and instagrammable moments. The whole concept of making the guests or attendees of any kind engage in activities and give them a chance to gain momentary popularity is spreading like jungle fire. But on the basics, it always will remain about originality, crafting the best experience and not about formulating blueprints that eventually just remain on papers. Now that being said, established in 2011, Mr. Nithin Nagaraja, CEO, placed the stepping stone for Event U Rox with organizing birthday parties, of course, organizing being the most pivotal part till date, they have expanded. They started to plan corporate events by the end of the same year. And today the corporate event share stands at a staggering 90% in comparison to all the other events that they do. Though they proudly boast of tapping more than 30 active clients, till 2014-15 they were struggling as a startup. Mr. Nithin, with respect to the client and gaining their confidence, faced a lot of exertion in convincing them. He believed in incorporating quality and standards, he never took up the event just for the sake of business. Originally Event U Rox started when he was in college, as a club that organized events. Later after finishing his MBA, he started this company with the same name and

today they are associated with big names like TCS, Airbus, Oracle, Walmart and more. Business Connect: Like you mentioned your phase of struggle, what were they? Mr. Nithin: Professionally, our industry faces huge competition. Competition in terms that there are companies that quote really less and maintain really low standards. We do not believe in compromising with the standards and we charge accordingly, we ensure that we provide the best and it is a win-win situation for both the parties. Then there is a lot of demotivation that you have to face, you give length presentations to clients, they might not like it and pick someone else over you. A lot of people feel that the event industry is a gala in itself, what they don’t realize is what happens behind the scenes. The amount of planning, ideation, and implementation it takes is a lot. Business Connect: Do you believe in healthy competition? Mr. Nithin: Yes, I do, I believe competition and parity in competition, both are necessary if there is no competition we will saturate to monopoly. And if monopoly comes into the picture we will be at the lack of choices and at some point learning will end. Today if we lose onto a client, we go back to our workplaces and discuss where did we go wrong and come back with better ideas, but if there was no competition, we would not get better, because there would be no rejection. [ 18 ]
Business Connect: How smoothly do you believe you have infused technology? Mr. Nithin: It is very important to understand technology and the changing trends in the market. We have to keep ourselves updated. We have to keep technologically updated all the time, given the kind of field we are in. All your corporate clients will expect you to be updated with the latest technology at hand because when we are conduction live conferences or visual mapping, it has to be with the best internet connections and trained technicians to handle it. Business Connect: Do you ever face difficulty in remaining relevant to the market? Mr. Nithin: In the present scenario I feel, whatever events that I am conduction, it is out of sheer passion. I am not looking through the aspects of competition or relevance honestly. There aren’t any strict targets to follow either, I just ensure that no matter how many shows I am taking care of, I have to give my best. I ensure that the client entrusts their faith in me in regard to the quality of the work and for the fact that they receive everything that we promised them. Business Connect: Why would a client come to you and not go to someone else, what are you providing different? Mr. Nithin: What way we are different from our competitors is that we come up with concepts that are unmatched. We boast of a really proficient creative team with brilliant designers backing them. We curate the whole theme, the complete concept based on the client’s expectations and event. And when we create a concept for a client, we make sure that concept is restricted to only that client and not repeated with some other. It is very important to have good backend support because we don’t just do an event and finish it off, we create experiences for our clients and that experience is what counts. Business Connect: How important do you feel is R&D for your company? Mr. Nithin: 200%, it is necessary. R&D is absolutely important, I would say because we are not just putting sound, light, LED etc. all the time. Whenever we have time off the events we ensure there are would be a dedicated team who are only taking care of the research part. They keep a track of what is trending in the market, what new concepts and bends have been introduced. From the biggest of technology changes to the smallest of things like ‘photo booths’, they are updating themselves on everything. And all this is necessary because the client is smart, they are updated about things, they will demand the latest trends and it is best to know about them beforehand for the best of the experience.
larger mass is comparatively far easier with digital media incorporating the picture, there are hitech solutions now like augmented/virtual reality, social media and more. Today the process of hiring and building a team has become so easy because of the virtual presence, it saves time and money both. Today, with the whole online presence of anything to everything, the toiling has reduced and the competition has amplified. Business Connect: What part of your success do you credit to your co-workers? Mr. Nithin: I will first give the credit to my family because they were immensely supportive and understanding. Second is my team, the kind of team I have, I can’t thank them enough for standing by me and the decisions I take. They play a major role because without the team there would be no leader. Third the vendors and the clients, both play a crucial role for me. The business comes from the clients and the execution of products come from vendors. Business Connect: Are you involved in any CSR activities? Mr. Nithin: Yes, we are involved in a couple of CSR activities. During the time of Christmas or at the time of anniversary in March, we provide food to the needy. For this anniversary we have planned to adopt two kids, ensuring their basic necessities and education. We bring kids (differently abled) from NGOs to perform at our events so that whosoever is interested can connect with them and make their donations. We serve as a healthy platform for them as well. Post the increased digitization of India and the growing market, the industry for events has been booming at a rapid rate and sees no halt any time soon. The mature population has been exposed to a completely new technologically advanced world of making memories and customizing them at their fancy and a certain well deserved cost. So the exploitation of the idea is obvious and harmless, so why not, and there are planners like Event U Rox at the large to make your day special with your favourite theme to add, there’s nothing else better sounding than that. It is very important to have good backend support because we don’t just do an event and finish it off, we create experiences for our clients and that experience is what counts. Nithin Nagaraja Group Business Head, Event U Rox
Business Connect: Do you feel transformations have happened since you started as an entrepreneur? Mr. Nithin: Transformations have happened at quite an impactful scale. When we started, the process of communication was quite dawdling, but today the technology has advanced in altogether a different level. The reach to a [ 19 ]

Helios Event Productions MODERNIZING THE REALM OF EVENTS INTO ETERNAL MEMOIRS Dr. Amit Mishra | Business Connect The event industry in India has grown massively over the years and this vertical brings opportunities quite flourishing in the near future. The thrill and glamour filled the form of marketing and advertising are not all about celebration, it demands a fairly high investment of planning and hard work. With the growing number of events taking place each day, these occasions have become an essential part of our lives and the need for them being organized well is a priority we just cannot ignore. Balachander Pitchai, Founder and CEO, Helios Event Productions, understand this dire need of the changing market and ensures the services match of to the demands. Helios Event comes with existence of 9 years in the market and 18 years of experience in the industry. They have the excellence of handling events in 9 different countries other than India managing everything from Sales Conferences, Knowledge Seminars, Dealer Meets, Anniversary & Family day celebrations, Press meets, Influencer meets, Get-together and Parties, Brand & Promotional campaigns, Exhibition Designer Stalls, Family functions and Weddings. With offices in Chennai, Mumbai and Delhi, their client base boasts of a number of big MNC’s and corporate clients. In a conversation with Business Connect Magazine, Mr Balachander Pitchai talks about his eye for detail, the innovations that are used, the never-say-die attitude of his team, and their strong belief in service delivery beyond excuses and more. Business Connect: The event industry is quite a competitive one, why would your client choose you over others? Balachander: The client would prefer choosing us over our competitors for the transparency that we bring in our processes and the quality we deliver. We make sure that each event that we conduct makes an impact fruitful enough for us to maintain a strong client base that will further bring in references. Business Connect: Did you see any transformation happening for event startups, over the years? Balachander: Of course, transformations have happened, now there are a number of event suppliers that claim to www.businessconnectindia.in | Vol. 1 | Issue 10 May 2019 INDIA
be event organizers because of the sheer reason that there is no entry barrier and exit loss. Each day more and more youngsters are gaining experience for a few years and starting their own event agency. Business Connect: Did everything come easy, or you have your story of struggle? Balachander: Nothing comes easy, everything has its own set of efforts involved. When we started, we, me and my 2nd in line, operated from a crude instant office of less than 10ftx10ft and had worked for more than 1215 hours in a day. We kept working hard and started building a trained team. But after approximately 3 years, the team parted and started their agency. This happened almost 3-4 times now. It is a difficult task to maintain and retain a good team because each team we trained, they learned the trade well and left to start their own set-up to competing against us by reaching out to the same clients we serve. Business Connect: What kind of clients do you serve any special mentions? Balachander: There are a number of clients with a big brand presence in the market that are associated with us like Building and construction material companies -SAINT-GOBAIN GLASS, SAINT-GOBAIN GYPROCK, NIPPON PAINTS, ASIAN PAINTS, Glazing Society of India; Automotive industry - Johnson Electric, Isuzu [ 22 ]
Motors, Visteon, Nexteer Automotive, Wabco; IT companies - Tata Consultancy Services, Worldbank IT, Mphasis; Other companies like Indian Express and Serdia Pharma etc to name a few. Business Connect: How do you ensure unbreakable faith of clients in your company? Balachander: We keep adding value to our services and we believe in a never-say-die attitude towards our work. We make sure that the services of paramount quality are provided to the customer beyond any excuse. Business Connect: How do you keep pace with the changing market trends? Balachander: We as a team constantly experiment with new and innovative ideas and ensure that modern technological mending is always encouraged. The need for experimenting and bringing in new ideas is inevitable in an industry like ours, it becomes a key differentiator for us because of the growing demand of the clients for something new and innovative every season. Business Connect: Do you still come back to work with the same zeal, like you did when you started? Balachander: Yes. Even after 9 years of talking to the same client on an everyday basis, we pick the client calls with the same enthusiasm. Balachander: A lot of opportunities are available in bringing technology into creating Event experience. The event industry is going to be more and more organized and more technologically demanding in the coming years, as a growing number of Indian companies are going global for their day to day meetings, the global network is going to be a major difference-making point.
Balachander: Role models are everywhere around us. You learn from so many aspects of life and business from so many people around you. I’m an ongoing learner. Today what I am, is a collective character developed out of what I have learnt from different people in different times in a day to day life, and from different forums like BNI Networking and Marketing training, Life training at Landmark, sales techniques and marketing skills from Brian Tracy-Grant Cardone-Tony Robbins books or podcasts and inspiring such videos, Money Blueprint from the Harv Eker courses and the list goes on. While one inspires you to ‘Keep your word’ no matter what, the other inspires you to ‘Add 1% every day’. Someone teaches you ‘Financial Freedom’ while the other teaches you ‘Take the Risk’. Business Connect: How are you giving back to society (CSR)? Balachander: Recently we volunteer to do a cost-to-cost event for Nethra Foundation’s CYCLOTHON for Empowering the Visually challenged student. This year we also have decided that we will use some percentage of our earning in CSR activities. In an age where the industry is moving towards being organized and getting extremely professional with time, the categories to cater have broadened and so have the demands. And drawing parallels to these demands with revolutionary ideas and creativity, Helios Event Productions after a decade down the line sees itself as a business house that has achieved the status of an e-commerce company with a long-lasting healthy association with its clients around the country and globally. “Business is about making more customers, keeping each of them satisfied, and making them give you repeated business over a long period of time. Without keeping your word, without adding value, without going beyond your ordinary self, you can’t achieve that” Balachander Pitchai.
Business Connect: How necessary do you feel is it to keep your employees content, how do you ensure it? Balachander: The event industry is highly manpower oriented. It is like a football game. There is no time limit for preparations but there is strict play time in the form of deadline and event duration. The team has to be in the best of form every time. The final game calls for the highest teamwork. The outcome is unpredictable until the last moment. To keep your team inspired and motivated and keep playing as a team is the biggest challenge. We keep ourselves charged up by celebrating successes, incentivizing performances, recognizing contributions, group planning meetings, group medical insurances, etc. Business Connect: Who is your role model in the business/entrepreneurial world and what have you learned from the person? THE
LOOPHOLES
IN OUR
EDUCATION SYSTEM Business Connect Team
After seven decades of independence from the British Government, we have progressed on many fronts be it Science & Technology, Agriculture, Economics, Culture and Education. As far as Education is concerned, there are still many loopholes in the system. There are many causes responsible for the menace. When we say loopholes, it means a whole lot of things. It involves many institutions and more specifically the coaching center culture widespread all across the nation. Today, we are going to talk more about the coaching culture or tuition culture that has gripped most part of the country. We know that despite having schools with good infrastructure, we have become compelled to send our kids to private coaching centers. The question is why? What is such compulsion that every stratum, from rich to middles class and even lower-middle class depend upon the coaching centers?
www.businessconnectindia.in | Vol. 1 | Issue 10 May 2019 INDIA
[ 26 ]
Have our schools failed to deliver quality education? Is it just a kind of insecurity or the lack of satisfaction that tempt them to look out for a safe zone for their kids? In last couple of decades, tuitions have become such important that it becomes tough to imagine education without coaching. Are we at a loss of good educational institutions or are we under the notion that school education is not that relevant? Apart from this, we see that even after getting best faculty members, people send their kids to bloodsucking coaching centers. Rather than focusing on the school curriculum, every kid is made to aspire for IITs, PMTs or such competitive exams. Many times, it has been found that school teachers compel students to take private tuitions else they frighten students to fail in exams. We know that not every student can become and IITian or can crack PMT. Still, the race is on. We are fortunate to have millions of school going kids but unfortunately all their creativity or innovation is being replaced by the rat race. Many motivational movies have been made on this topic such as Taare Zameen Par, 3 Idiots among others but we are just not able to fathom the gist of the topic. We need to focus on the development of individual traits that every student is uniquely bestowed with. Every student is unique and could have different aspirations and goals. We need to help them nurture their characteristics and life goals. Moreover, when the humongous task to get kids admitted to kindergarten takes place, thousands of parents can be seen in queues in early mornings to fight for the complex procedure of enrolment. There are certain schools in which every parent dreams to send their kids in hope of a bright future ahead. This makes such schools beyond the reach of a number of parents. Whenever there is high demand and less supply, it leads to faulty practices. Same stands true for education system too. What begins with kindergarten, continues till higher education. Seeing parents burning their lakhs of money on a single course is not something seen rarely. It has become a common phenomenon these days. Not only courses, the mushrooming of a number of competitive coaching classes for the preparation of government jobs is also playing with the career of millions of students across the entire country. These institutes advertise in such a tempting way that make one believe that he or she will crack the exams in one shot. But it happens once in a blue moon. Students waste years just to secure a seat rather than investing those crucial years on the development of skills. In every state, there are some places which are widely famous for being a student hub. We can see students ranging from early 20s to mid-30s, just for the sake of a government job. The question again is – what makes them waste their important years of creativity and innovation. In a large part of our society, there has always been the demand of job security. People in such part hardly care about the new culture of startups or innovative ideas. This is mostly visible in the northern parts of the country especially in Bihar and UP (Uttar Pradesh). A very common proverb reflecting the mindset of the people of the regions is – “A government peon is better than a private manager”. One can easily verify this statement by visiting some places in the above mentioned states. Though startup culture is visible in India for last several years, it is yet to make a solid transformation. More and more youngsters have to come forward to give shape to their ideas and visions rather than wasting their crucial years for the sake of a job in lieu of a permanent and secure status. We have to become and support risk takers. [ 27 ]

Ensuring a Sustainable Future through Renewable Energy Solutions Dr. Amit Mishra | Business Connect wing to the innovative technology and the initiatives taken by the government the scenario of renewable energy has favorably transformed tremendously. Targeting a $100 billion industry by 2022, the expansion is on the cards by the government and hence venturing into the solar business is just the ideal thing to do.
O
And with India becoming the hotspot for investors globally, a number of companies are rapidly working towards empowering the nation’s solar transformation, and one of these is Ace Solarr. Established in 2016, Ace Solarr deals in a number of solar on-grid systems, hybrid systems, water heaters, streetlights, solar water pumps, solar Cookers etc. Mr. Gopal, in conversation with the Business Connect Magazine, talking about his venture, future plans and more. Business Connect: What do you believe is the market situation right now for renewable energy? Mr. Gopal: The market situation currently is very good, it is growing and the demand is amplifying as well. In the next 5 years, I believe there will not be any other option than opting for renewable energy.
Gopal Tibrewal Founder, Ace Solarr
“I treat my staff as my co-owners, this company is as much theirs as it is mine, regardless of the fact that I stand at the position of an owner, this company is what it is because of the people working with us”. Gopal Tibrewal, Founder, Ace Solarr
www.businessconnectindia.in | Vol. 1 | Issue 10 May 2019 INDIA
Business Connect: What is in the future for the company? Mr. Gopal: Till 2022, there is a major scope in the market due to the government taking an interest, in the next few years there will be no looking back for the solar industry. Unless some new technology emerges in the market, then the scenario may change, otherwise, we will see a major boom and dependency on solar energy in the future. Also, by the nest financial year, we will have our offices in Delhi and Mumbai and by 2022 we are looking to expand our offices Pan India. We also are looking forward to adding all the big fishes And State Government in the list of clients that we would like to serve. Business Connect: What do you offer differently than your competitors? Mr. Gopal: We focus on quality, we don’t give a lot of stress on the pricing as yet. Our main motto is to maintain the fineness of the quality, and that is the reason our company witnessed a growth of 400% in the previous years. And this also gives us a major edge over our peers who prioritize pricing and quantity a lot. And I personally believe that in the long run quality has to be maintained if you are looking to grow. People will pull back their trust and it can backfire if you do not maintain the same. [ 30 ]
Business Connect: What do you feel is the future of an entrepreneur? Mr. Gopal: If you are a technically sound person, and if you believe in quality and believe in serving your products at the right cost, the scope in this business vertical is ample in that case. But if you are only entering the field to earn money, this is not the right field for you then. In this field, no matter what product you install, its life is going to be at least for 20-30 years, which means that you are responsible for that product of yours for the same period of time. And if you are looking to generate such services for long periods, you will have to stick to quality and that is the only way to survive in this business. To be precise, after sale services play a very major role in this business and a good after sale service helps you further survive and find more business. Business Connect: What kind of obstacles did you face? Mr. Gopal: No matter what business you start, there will be struggles in it for bagging the right client. So there has been a struggle of the same kind for us as well. But currently we are happy with our growth, we are happy with the way we have been able to convince our clients, and there are certain targets we are looking forward to and are hopeful we will achieve them successfully. Business Connect: How do you ensure the faith of your clients? Mr. Gopal: Each and every installation that we do is a model installation. It’s not a self-service installation, so each time the client asks us how can we trust you, we show them the model, make them talk to our team and the other clients who have availed the same service. Then there also is the word of mouth that we believe in, our clients refer us to others after they experience the satisfactory services that also works in favor for us in terms of convincing. Business Connect: What are your thoughts about technology and R&D? Mr. Gopal: We have a team of engineers, who rely a lot on R&D, we constantly upgrade our technology each day. If you do not have a team dedicated to R&D, growth is very difficult. It should be a major part of your business, to avoid lacking behind in the race. Business Connect: What share of credit do you give your staff for your achievements? Mr. Gopal: All of it, this is teamwork. Each person from the team is working hard towards doing their job perfectly. I can only work with two of my hands and one mind, and there is only so much I can do. It’s our staff that works nonstop and ensures we get as many orders possible and that the quality is maintained as well. I believe in co-existing and growing together, the company will grow when we grow and we will grow when the company does. [ 31 ]
Business Connect: What is your motivating factor? Mr. Gopal: Your biggest motivation would be seeing your company grow by your sweat and toil. If you have a target to achieve and you are willing to take your venture to successful heights, it will keep pushing you to come back pumped up and work towards it. Business Connect: When did the idea pop in your head? Mr. Gopal: My growing years were in a boarding school, and even in my graduation years, I lived away from home. In my early 20s, my father suffered a heart attack and that was the time of homecoming for me. I am from a remote village in Bihar, where I joined my father’s business post his medical condition. But I was not satisfied with the kind of place I was living in, mostly because my growing years were away from this place. Hence in 2015, I decided I should start my own business. I got a lot of support from my wife and my father as well. And after enough brainstorming, I realized that there are a number of businesses that will bring in a lot of money, but this is one that will serve the nature and bring about a change as well. Business Connect: Are you involved in CSR activities? Mr. Gopal: Given that I come from a rural background, I understand the scenario here and I try to give back to society in all possible ways I can. We are planning to set up a solar plant in Bihar to try and make life a bit easier for the locals out there. Business Connect: What do you feel is the government doing and is there anything that you feel should change? Mr. Gopal: The central government is very supportive, I would also like to request the state government to buy the extra energy as well. Say, for example, I have installed a power plant and by the March end, I am left with extra energy to use, the government does not pay for it. I would like to raise a request to the government to start buying the surplus energy. There are a few small states that bought changes in the same but not all. I would also like to raise a request that the government should allow MSMEs in the bidding process of the credentials of the government. This will help the MSMEs to grow faster and better in the field of renewable energy. Ace Solarr is working hard towards reducing the consumption of energy with a wide range of product management and consultancy services to the customers. They are making the transition to solar as easy as it could ever be. Through provisions of renewable energy by their products, the future of sustainable living seems brighter. “I would like to convey, if there is anyone out there who are looking to do anything in regard to the field of renewable energy, we are here, come to us and we will ensure your requirements are met in our best capacity”. Artificial Intelligence
Top Five Myths about Artificial Intelligence that newbies have We hear myth all around us. Take for example ‘bulls hate red’ or ‘bats are blind’. These are just two out of thousands of myth which we hear in our daily life. As and when things become popular topic of discussion, its bound to be interpreted differently by different people. Thus myths originate. The pace of technological advancements is seemingly at the speed of light. Artificial Intelligence or more commonly called as AI is knowledge developed in technology to perform work which humans do. Isn’t it truly fascinating? With such a fascinating thing around it is bound to be one of the hottest topic which demands global attention. Facebook and Google for example aim at becoming our personal assistant. So as the entire world is debating the outcome of AI and how these technological advancements will shape our future, rule of the world welcomes AI in the family of myth. In this article we talk about 5 common myth associated with Artificial Intelligence.
Myth # 1 Artificial Intelligence will replace human jobs AI is supposed to be working in addition to and not in substitution of what we humans bring to the table.History has witnessed that with any revolutionary technological advancements people have always feared that AI will eventually replace them at workplace. Many years ago when ATM machine was invented, many feared that it would result in so many being unemployed. However, we later realised that such advancements create more jobs and improve quality of life.
Myth # 2 Artificial Intelligence has all human features including its ability to learn on its own AI’s are wired to perform certain tasks. There are number of times where AI has proved to be really clever but it would be wrong to say that it’s an exact parallel human brain What it lacks is emotion.Life would be dull without happiness, laughter, sorrow and disappointment. Emotions certainly adds spice to life. Moreover artificial intelligence certainly can not learn on its own.
www.businessconnectindia.in | Vol. 1 | Issue 10 May 2019 INDIA
[ 32 ]
Myth # 3 Artificial Intelligence is only for big companies with huge investments. AI has a lot of potential to transform any organisation. Since the technology used for AI is complex, there is a common myth that it is only meant for big companies. If you have ever received a bank notification of fraud transaction, or purchase predication shown while online shopping or clear navigation which directs you to your destination while travelling, everything is a result of AI monitoring activity. Thus it plays a vital role in the development of all companies.
Myth # 4 Artificial Intelligence is bias free
Computer systems are developed by humans. If the creator has biases, the product is bound to have the same. There are no ways that AI can be free of biases. Only thing we can do is make a system with minimum biases. If the data collected and loaded into the system has bias, the end result would certainly not be bias free.
Myth # 5 Artificial Intelligence will take over humans one day
Humans tend to be afraid of what they don’t understand. Human catastrophe in a Hollywood style is unlikely. We have programmed a machine by feeding in enormous amount of data yet we are nowhere close to developing a computer model of human brain.
Stephen Hawking in one of the interviews with BBC told “The development of full artificial intelligence could spell the end of human race. It would take off on its own, and redesign itself at an ever increasing rate. Humans, who are limited by slow biological evolution, couldn’t compete, and would be superseded.” There is lot to debate on what artificial intelligence has in store for us. Only time will reveal the truth. Its going to be very interesting how the world deals with it. [ 33 ]

lack of awareness. For future entrepreneurs, the sector is full of opportunities not just in Tier-1 cities but in Tier-2 and Tier-3 towns. With government supporting rooftop solar power plants, it would open up doors for investments and thus business opportunities. Business Connect: How necessary do you feel is it to keep your employees content, how do you ensure it? Mayur: Human Resource in our opinion is more important than Capital Resource. They are the builders of the company and hold great importance. They carry our brand and build a reputation in society. Their contentment is important for the growth and stability of the company. Business Connect: How do you see the initiatives of present government with respect to your industry? Have they helped you in any sense? Mayur: The biggest initiative taken in the sector is the International Solar Alliance. This would allow India to shape the future policy direction in the sector and attract investment for R&D. Apart from this, the government has increasingly allocated more money for rooftop plants and more projects are being taken up by government bodies. This opens up opportunities and also helps build confidence in the customers that this is the right technology. In the near future, Mayur is positively looking forward to Corrit, a growing venture to collaborate with flourishing businesses of innovative manufacturing technologies and pushing the EPC business ahead. www.businessconnectindia.in | Vol. 1 | Issue 10 May 2019 INDIA

Business Connect: How are you giving back to society (CSR, if any)? Dr. Kushant: Our business model is unique in the sense that every system we deploy leads to a triple impact. As of today, we have impacted 2.5million lives, saved over 30mega tonnes of Co2 and reduced electricity consumption by over 20 millionunits.
[ 37 ]
Business Connect: Apart from work, what else do you like to spend your time doing? Dr. Kushant: I love spending time with the family watching movies or discussing local or global events. I also love reading books on a variety of subjects ranging from philosophy, fiction, world events, technology, business etc. Business Connect: How do you see the initiatives of present government with respect to your industry? Have they helped you in any sense? Dr. Kushant: The government has focused on solar in a big way which has helped create awareness. However, the involvement in creating specs and the tender process ( for ex: matching L1) needs improvement to enable quality products for the users. The segment would benefit greatly if the government focuses on policies which enable commercialization of feature driven and reliable solar products. Business Connect: What are the achievements and milestones of the company? Dr. Kushant: The triple impact in terms of social, environmental and economic gains is an achievement we are proud of and a huge motivator. Apart from that, we have established ourselves as one of the most reliable suppliers of solar streetlights and home lighting systems. To date, we have sold over 1 lakh home systems and over 30000 streetlights. We have received recognition in terms of articles and awards from various agencies globally and locally which speaks to our work. Business Connect: What does the future hold for the company? Dr. Kushant: Intelizon has set a platform with innovative products as well as proven reliability and quality. We will continue to set benchmarks for innovation and expand globally over the next few years. Intelizon energy is working on a mission that promotes reliable and quality electricity for all. They are creating a platform for the world that will enable productivity gains for people living in rural areas worldwide, which will further prove as beneficial features for the developed economies. A number of companies out there will leave the customers to design their own systems with piecemeal solutions on offer, but they work on a different ideology. They channel their focus on eco-friendly energy sources and provide the finest system efficiency through the source and load management and combine it with reliable electronics. They have successfully created advanced outdoor and indoor solar and grid-based platforms and provided their customers with best in class sales and services. “Business connect is playing a great role in highlighting innovations and entrepreneurs. The articles on entrepreneur experiences serve to motivate new and upcoming businesses. This serves as a platform for growth of innovation in the country, Dr. Kushant Uppal. www.businessconnectindia.in | Vol. 1 | Issue 10 May 2019 INDIA

I
n the past decade and more, the healthcare industry has seen a massive transformation in terms of technology and awareness. People have only gotten better in the comprehension of this sector and become additionally conscious of keeping themselves updated with what happening around them.
At Diet Clinic®, they have tried to cope up and meet the customer demands and lest needs in the market, the research, and development team works on various strategies. They have introduced a Mobile Application and utilized technology to make good health and wellness more accessible to people.
In return, the sector also has improved itself on the front of delivering better customer services and reaching out to people far accurately. They look for the best, need the best and demands the best.
“ Let your Diet Work for you ” Sheela Seharawat, Founder & Mentor Diet Clinic ® Sheela, a nationally acclaimed Dietician, supervises a team of professional dieticians at Diet Clinic. She started the organization in 2006. Her mission is to help people to lose weight in the simplest and healthiest manner. Ltd, that are designed after her utmost efforts, dedication and hard work. www.businessconnectindia.in | Vol. 1 | Issue 10 May 2019 INDIA
Business Connect:What gives you an edge over your peers? Sheela:It is of extreme importance to stay updated of all that peers are doing – their services, products, marketing strategies and all. A clear USP with an assurance of the result is what we aim at. It is what entices people to come to Diet Clinic. Our health and diet plans are entirely custom[ 42 ]
ized. We pay attention to the needs of our clients, understand their problems and guide them the way forward. It is here our job does not end. We move ahead with them in their every move, providing them with all the support that they require to stay motivated on their goals. Business Connect: Did you face any obstacle during the initial days? How did you sail through them? Sheela: It was never easy for me and us. Less reliability, hardly any trust from people around you and fear of repulsions from the market was some of the factors that came as obstacles at the initial stages. Moreover, it was a huge challenge around 12 to 15 years back that food and diet is the only solution for a healthy life, a life full of wellness and happiness. The only thing that kept me moving was belief. The belief that what we are doing will give results. Slowly with the world getting educated with diet and we also constantly educating and communicating people the benefits of eating and staying healthy, our belief started paying off. People who trusted us experienced positive results and they became our first brand ambassadors. Business Connect: What was your learning during struggling days so that our readers could prepare themselves for upcoming challenges? Sheela: Patience, trust in self and belief that, yes you can do it, are some factors that will always keep you moving ahead. There is an age-old adobe: “keep doing your job and do not count on the results”. It held true in my case. I had aimed to see a healthy society and have strived hard to spread the message through my endeavors. This kept me motivated and moving always and even in difficult times.Challenges are bound to come, the ones who have trust in themselves, sail through. Business Connect: How do you ensure the unbreakable faith of patients in your organization? Sheela: The word ‘faith’ hold a lot of importance to me. Over the years when people say that they are able to achieve what they have expected with Diet Clinic, they became our brand ambassador. Today, we have thousands of people who are happy living a healthier and happy life. These people are our role models now who speak about their route to healthy living and their success stories to others. Today we have more than 35 clinics in the country and have been possible through those who have shown trust and faith in us. Business Connect: What are the efforts made by you not to lag behind in the race of having latest technology? Rajiv: We at Diet Clinic acknowledge the use growth of technology in pour field as well. One way we have tried to make good health more approachable in by introducing our newly launched mobile app- the Diet Clinic App. People stay connected to us at all time and they feel that losing weight or dieting or any other wellness approach is now much easier. People can chat real time with our health advisor and dieticians, take health and diet tips from them, read and download healthy menus and recipes, make a booking and renew their packages and make [ 43 ]
payments and more. Moreover, our online platform has made life and health so easy that people find it easy and approachable. Business Connect: How much do you rely upon Research and Development? What is the role of research in the growth of the Company? Sheela: I believe research and development is a continuous process. It helps us dig deep into what is already there and input new innovations to already existing scientific principles. This one is more helpful today as it aids us with new and innovative ideas to keep people healthy and improve their quality of life. Business Connect: How difficult it is to remain relevant in this competitive world? How do you keep yourself motivated during tough times? Rajiv: It gives me a boost to see around and find that people who have associated with Diet Clinic live a changed life that is more healthy and happy. The road to success is not easy, but it is not all that difficult also if your intentions are honest and your approach positive. Business Connect: What are your contributions to CSR activities? Sheela: Businesses which think differently in today’s time, are the one that sustains in the long run. People these days and also corporates and businesses are more sensitive towards social issues. Including us, all businesses are trying to improve and increase the value they provide to their customers. As a part of CSR activities, I and my team in regular intervals conduct camps for the society where we try and educate people on the need of staying healthy, conduct blood donation and other health camps, etc. Diet Clinic was started as an initiative and the intention of improving the lives of people. One common characteristic shared by all of us is the desire to be happy and healthy and for Sheela creating, value as a part of her corporate social responsibility simply means providing services that help people improve their lives and become happier. “I believe that you might be the best or the most talented person in your field, but if you are not created value for the society, it isn’t of any use.” www.businessconnectindia.in | Vol. 1 | Issue 10 May 2019 INDIA

Now days looking good is the most important matter of self-esteem. Hair Plays an Important Ornamental Role in One’s Life. Hair transplant is a procedure which can give exceptional results with the well handed artistically and scientifically known surgeon. The success of your F.U.E treatment depends upon the experience of your surgeon. Dr. Nilesh Pund, Founder, New Roots Hair Transplant clinic brings for the ease of people, solutions to look forward to and a team of trained and skilled surgeons.
Dr. Nilesh Pund He completed post graduate diploma in medical trichology after completion of masters in surgery. He is the founder and director of new roots hair transplant centre which was started in Jan-2011. In initial days he started with F.U.T. technique and now very expert in both F.U.T & F.U.E procedures. He is acclaimed to be very well known in surgical skills along with the passion of serving mankind. In a conversation with Business Connect Magazine, Dr. Nilesh Pund taking us on a tour of the company essentials and ideologies, Business Connect: How do you feel you are different from your competitors? Dr. Nilesh: Only our centre offers the assurance because we work to the full satisfaction of the patient and our goal is to achieve the optimum beauty level of their hair related to their customers. The reason for assuring our patients is that we avoid bruising and mishandling every step involved in the hair transplant process. We have a habit of augmented and improved graft handling which is possible due to the standard quality of imported materials, equipment. We have been working since 2011 and we have not gone through any situation, we corruption has not developed, we satisfy all our customers to satisfy them. We do not offer rates depending on grafts as we work till the whole bald scalp is covered to appreciable & required density, which is the specialty of our work. Business Connect: Did you see any transformation happening for start-ups, over the years in your field? Dr. Nilesh: Yes, 2011 was an era where people only knew about hair transplant but unaware of the technique and the knowledge required to the patient. After 2013 we saw a drastic change and awareness in the knowledge of people regarding hair transplant due to simplification and understanding the technique. From the day the social network included A to Z about hair transplant and continued till today. Business Connect: Did everything come easy, or you have your story of struggle? Dr. Nilesh: When we started there was a tremendous lack [ 45 ]
of knowledge and awareness in the minds of people. Day by day we struggled and gain faith in the minds of people regarding us. Result oriented and safety-ness regarding the treatments of hair transplant was the main issue in target audience but now our result in the previous patient proved that we gave a result with safety. Business Connect: What kind of clients do you serve, any special mentions? Dr. Nilesh: Previously it was a belief that hair transplant could be done only by a celebrity or rich people. But now we have achieved to serve even the middle-class group which are lacking social issues in society due to baldness with the help of the finance system. We emphasize creative approach to hair restoration and New Roots hair transplant gives you not just hair but style to make you look & feel a million dollars which gives the confidence to achieve your personal goal. Business Connect: How do you keep pace with the changing market trends? Dr. Nilesh: We understand our reach to target audience one step ahead and reach through multiple channels we are standing successfully till date only due to R & D. And of course we do change every day to become outstanding with help of extraordinary results. Business Connect: Do you still come back to work with the same zeal, like you did when you started? Dr. Nilesh: Our zeal increases day by day by the motivation of our satisfied patient. I think only entrepreneurs hold the capability to feel the future and obviously future will garland with the success. It is very necessary to hold on and build a staff with time that helps you grow and at each step affirms your belief in the fact that the company is not made up of machine or buildings only, it is the group of employees who are the heart of the company as well. Business Connect: What are the achievements and milestones of the company? Dr. Nilesh: We have received best hair transplant clinic award in 2018 from ABP NEWS AND WORLD HEALTH CONGRESS. To serve globally and make The India hub for hair transplant. We also serve our patients the complete emotional satisfaction and confidence which they lack when they come to us at first. We also have created employment to various channels to the needy people. The eventual fate of hair restoration looks very promising, given the same number of new, therapeutic and careful medications ought to hit the market soon. Hair culture looks to be a refreshing choice if your hair strand can be recreated in the research centre to make numerous new hair strands and after that embedded in your scalp. “I follow the likes of Richard Branson, founder of Virgin group who believes that you don’t learn to walk by following rules, you learn by doing and falling over”. Gujarat’s First Residential & Rehabilitation Seniors Care Home “We need to continue to make improvements to the system of care recipients to respond to the needs of older people and their families and to support our dedicated, caring staff in their important good work.” Amit Limbachiya
Vikas Jha | Business Connect hen your health is deteriorating with every passing day, it becomes of utmost importance to stay by the side of your loved ones. A patient receives maximum comfort in a familiar environment rather than shifting from one bed to another. Swarg Community Care (SCC) in Gujarat was established considering the fact that millions of senior citizens across the globe are facing health problems. By 2025, there will about 1200 million people aged 65 years according to UN estimates. Failure to address old age health needs today could develop into a costly problem tomorrow. Seven percent of the 1.1 billion Indian population is today over the age of 60. They too wish to have better access to health care, look forward to a fun, health, dignity, economic independence, and peaceful death. Founded in 2012 by Mr. Amit Limbachiya, it is a specialized care home where bedridden, terminally ill, immobile, required assistant for daily living or permanently disabled elders can stay and be looked after under the supervision of a professional team, which consist of 24/7 Nurses, Personal care assistant, Physiotherapist, Psychologists, Behavior therapist and Consulting doctors. It is one of the healthiest and happiest places in Gujarat with 100 multiple beds & rooms’ capacity and the central theme of “Healthcare with a human touch”. It essentially is a residence for rehabilitation & 24/7 Care with excellent in-house facilities and an independent organization which helps the community, for fast and happy recovery of its guardian.

The Visionary! Mr. Amit Limbachiya, who is B. Pharmacy Qualified from L. M. College of Pharmacy, Ahmedabad, India. Additionally, He has accomplished Community Welfare from King’s International College, Gold Coast, Australia. He also has completed multiple connected courses and certificates from Brisbane, Australia like PBST (Positive Behavior Support Therapy), BLST (Basic Lifestyle Support Therapy), DSP (Disability Support Practice), Certificate of www.businessconnectindia.in | Vol. 1 | Issue 10 May 2019 INDIA
Amit Limbachiya Founder & Chairman Swarg Community Care OHS (Occupational Health & Safety), Certificate of Manual Handling, Certificate of Managing Challenging Behavior, Certificate of First Aid & CPR and Certificate of Understanding of Body Systems. Indian Ministry estimates say the number of people in the 60-plus age group in India will increase to 100 million in 2013, and 198 million in 2030. The elderly population will increase to 12% of the total population by 2025, 10% of whom would be bedridden, requiring utmost care. The ministry’s revised National Program for the Healthcare of the Elderly (NPHCE) expects to have 20 institutions with the capacity to produce 40 post-graduates in MD in geriatric medicine per year. Additionally, 6,400 beds in district hospitals and 1,000 beds in medical colleges for the elderly by 2017. The Operational Module These concerns encourage the team at Swarg to start a facility where bedridden, terminally ill, paralyzed, and disabled and other severe medical condition where a family member has difficulties to look after seniors 24/7. It is a challenge for them to provide round the clock medical care for the elderly. Old age homes won’t be able to give admission to bedridden people. Moreover, hospitals won’t keep them for a longer time and at home, round the clock medical treatment may not be possible. This way we were born where we can provide 24x7 nursing care, doctors, physiotherapy, psychotherapy, dietician, recreational activities, accommodation, laundry care, surgical tools and homely like environment. All service provides in under one roof. And setting the standard of residential care, Swarg Community Care is emphasizing on ensuring the optimal quality of life for all the residents by valuing their individuality and holistic needs. With a facility for bedridden and terminally ill seniors, it is a very unique care model which will help family members to provide a healthy option to keep their bedridden family member with them. Here they intend to recover the care recipients from their fragile bedridden condition towards an in-dependency.
[ 50 ]
Amit further states that “Swarg Community Care has a long vision, ourstrategic plan is to conduct different branches in different cities with a modern and supportive care model for the elderly in the near future in India. We have high-quality solutions for people living with paralysis, immobile, neurological disorders, terminally ills and those elderly who are unable to look after themselves at home in India, societal, policy and sector reform that directly benefits residents and a strong, developing and sustainable organization”. The Provisions Made Available The high-level of care residences have been designed to ensure comfort and quality nursing care in a pleasant homelike environment. • Nurse/attendant Calling System: The facility has highly advanced including in nurse/attendant calling and monitoring systems. • Accommodation: We offer a range of accommodation for every budget including General (8 beds), Economic (4 beds), Twin (2 beds) and Deluxe Rooms (1 bed) with attached toilet bathrooms. Achieving New Heights Swarg has to its credits three national awards in the year 2018 for the best aged care Homein Inida by Mrs. Soha Ali Khan, providing an innovative elderly care services in India and the best elderly CareHome in India by Mr. Sunil Shetty. Initially started from 10 beds service to facilitate the Senior Citizen and continuously delivering successful results in Vadodara Swarg has expanded their services to 100 beds and it’s still growing.
[ 51 ]
The next big plan is to open new center in Ahmedabad-Gandhinagar with the goal of Bigger, Modern Facilities and latest Technology Care center. Assessing the outgrowing needs, and more demand for elderly care home, they have decided to build bigger center in Ahmedabad, for senior citizens where they’ll be provided with high-quality Food, equipment and Services. They will be taken care of in our safe and caring hands in a challenging and busy environment. Giving Back To Society “We continually work to understand the needs of our residents and strive to provide the highest level of care possible. We receive invaluable assistance from trained volunteers who donate their time and talents for the support of our residents. They may include social contact, assistance with feeding, spiritual activities, recreational activities, and many other activities. Any support you or your family and friends may be able to give will be greatly appreciated” adds Mr. Amit. A new concept Swarg Community Care arises first time in Vadodara, Gujarat India. Swarg is a Gujarat’s first 100 bedded Swarg Rehabilitation & Residential Age Care Centre. Care facility for bedridden is a very unique care model which will help family members to provide a healthy option to keep their bedridden family member. They intend to recover care recipients from their fragile bedridden condition towards an in-dependency. Tips for Setting Goals to Become a Successful Entrepreneur
To get anywhere in life, you need to know how to get there, but more importantly, you need to know the “where”. A goal-oriented approach not only minimizes digressions and frustration, it helps you achieve your ends faster. It is not without reason that setting achievable, shortterm goals is considered one of the best ways to reach desired outcomes. [ 52 ]
“I have failed over and over and over again in my life. And that is why I succeed.” –Michael Jordan But is there a universal formula for setting up goals? Unfortunately, no. Every idea needs specific implementation to achieve its full potential. Every person needs an individualistic method to work at his or her full potential. It is not only about setting goals, it is about knowing what sort of goals to set. A broad, overarching method works well in some areas, but entrepreneurship isn’t one of those. Being an entrepreneur is a high-risk, high-reward position. Entrepreneurship requires more of an ability to tolerate failure than an obsession for winning. It requires you to have the passion, the patience and discipline, and the hunger for knowledge, to invest thousands of hours of hard work, to overcome your fears, and surround yourself with the right people to build a great business and make a profit out of it. And along with all of this, it requires you to have a practical approach toward the aims you have set for yourself and your start-up. To set up tangible goals for yourself allows you to know what you have to do next and to keep track of what you have done. Here are some tips, on how to set goals and achieve them in order to become a successful entrepreneur: • Brainstorm Ideas and its Target Market. Your idea does not have to be new and entirely original, but it has to be compelling. It can be a service that people need, or a source of comfort, or both, but it has to be something that would have or create a market of its own. • Prioritize. Before you set your goals, it is important to make a list of your priorities. Once you have an idea what your start-up is based on, you’ll need to prioritize your finances, advertising and so on. • Be Specific. Your goals need to be as detailed as possible. Research shows that setting specific goals makes it easier to achieve them. You may need to break your goals into larger agendas and smaller sub-goals. • Be Realistic. The goals you set should be realistic and achievable. It is okay to have high aspirations, but you need to have a realistic idea of how to get there. • Make Deadlines. In your goals, include numerous deadlines. It is a part of our nature as human beings to procrastinate, and deadlines help keeping that in control. • Measurable Outcomes. It often so happens that we get demotivated mid-way after taking such a huge enterprise as an entrepreneurship. Keep track of your progress. Progress is the greatest motivator. [ 53 ]
• Identify Possible Obstacles. Before finalizing goals for your start-up, pre-analyse what hindrances could come in your way. That will keep you prepared for them, and make them easier to overcome. • Find a Community of Like-Minded People. The goals you set need you to be informed about the market space, potential customers, and sources of help. Finding people who share similar interests will keep you updated about these. • Ask for Guidance. When needed, ask for help. Be it setting your goals or running your business, proper guidance from a knowledgeable source can do wonders. • Revise, Recalibrate. Your goals cannot be fixed and inflexible. They will need tempering every now and then. Keep that in mind when you start penning them down. • Determine Risks. Your goals need to accommodate for “acceptable loss”. Entrepreneurship does not bring with it a guarantee of success, but if you can work with your losses, you can acquire that success eventually. • Create A Business Plan. In your goal, include what your company does, whom does it serve and what does it provide. Be concrete and specific, and describe what makes it superior to the other ventures of its kind. Your goals are what will keep your company on track. They need to be strictly specific, not just to your company but to you. Entrepreneurship is about “creating customers”. You need to know how to build a business model around a product or service and take it to the market. Your goals need to reflect this attitude. And your goals need to be suited to you, your strong points, and your potentials.
