They were intellectual rivals but best friends, and their opposing views on knowledge quickly gained traction, resulting in one of the world’s most successful ventures. They started working on what would become one of the world’s most famous and informative websites in their dormitory.

Sergey Mikhaylovich Brin is a perfect example of the classic immigrant success story in world history, rising from modest beginnings in the Soviet Union to the pinnacle of greatest online success. Sergey Brin’s, Google’s cofounder, now on the board of directors and a majority shareholder of Alphabet Inc., net worth as of today is more than US $ 100 Billion.

He was born on August 21, 1973, into a strict soviet minority republic, where he spent his childhood. Brin’s father, Dr. Michael Brin, a mathematician who is now retired from the University of Maryland’s Department of Mathematics, wanted to be an astronomer but had to give up his dream due to the country’s anti-Semitic policies. Eugenia Brin, his mother, worked as a scientist at NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center.

Brin’s father realized that his children’s future would be jeopardized if they lived in Russia. After attending a science show in Moscow, he discovered that the west provides enough opportunities for himself and his children to realize their goals. As a result, he took a significant risk by deciding to relocate the family to the United States. He and his family immigrated to America, bringing one of the world’s most talented scientists with them.

In May 2007, Sergey Brin married Anne Wojcicki. In 1996, she graduated from Yale University with a Bachelor of Science in Biology. Anne is the CEO and co-founder of 23andMe, a genomics company that was funded by Google in 2007 for $3.9 million. Before the wedding, the pair had known each other for about 8 years. Benji Wojin (a combination of “Wojcicki” and “Brin”), their son, was born in December 2008, and a daughter was born in early 2012. They divorced on August 28, 2013, and they are still legally married even though they no longer live together. According to a spokeswoman, Brin and Wojcicki are good friends and partners.

Academic Life School Years Sergey first went to the Mishkan Torah Hebrew School. Later, he was transferred to Paint Branch Montessori School in Adelphi, Maryland, for elementary school. Eleanor Roosevelt High School in Greenbelt, Maryland, was his alma mater. The price per share rose to about $300 in 2005. A stock price reached $600 in 2007. Brin and Page became billionaires after attracting more than $3 billion in cash for the venture. 2001: Sergey Brin was appointed to the role of President of Technology. In Japan, Brin and Page founded their first foreign office. 1999: Brin and Page were able to persuade two rival venture capital companies, Sequoia Capital and Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers, to finance Google, resulting in a $25 million investment. 1998: On September 15, the project was renamed Google. Brin was elevated to the position of President. 1996-1998: Brin and Page agreed to form a company out of their idea. The pair borrowed money from family and friends to buy servers and rent a popular garage in Menlo Park, California, similar to Apple’s and Amazon’s. The room was owned by Susan Wojcicki, who later became a Google senior vice president and is now the CEO of YouTube. Andy Bechtolsheim, a co-founder of Sun Microsystems, provided funding for this venture by writing a $100,000 check. 1996: For a few months, the pair worked on “Black Rub,” a search engine that ran on Stanford’s google.stanford.edu servers. 1995: During his Ph.D., Sergey Brin collaborated with Page on search engine algorithm studies.

He then went on to Stanford University to pursue a PhD, which he placed on hold when he established Google later in life. He wrote and co-wrote a variety of papers on methods for extracting knowledge from unstructured sources and retrieving information from vast collections of texts and scientific evidence. He also created tools to translate experimental work created with the TeX word processor into HTML format. He met Larry Page, a student who was “equally as irritating as himself” during that period.

Revenue is the engine that funds all innovation.

Innovation is powerful, execution is worshipped – Idea Customer Education was the biggest uphill battle. Since this service was unheard at the time they started and many potential clients didn’t even know such a service existed, it took a long time to explain and convince the customers.

Their clients in the B2C segment have grown exponentially and in the B2B segment this year they have over 10 clients. Nemmadi has provided Home Inspection for over 1000 apartment owners. From the experience of having worked in over 1500 construction projects all over India in the past 30 odd years, as part of the CPMC, they understand the nuances and the various aspects of the field. They also know where things can go wrong and where to look for them and they provided Individual Home Inspection services at many projects all over South India –

The field of Civil Engineering is known to be technology averse, they wanted to change this by leveraging technology to improve not only the efficiency of the engineers but also collect copious amounts of data at the same time. This meant going against the tide and developing an app that would perform a factor of magnitude better than the existing tools. This meant developing an app that the bottom of the pyramid, could use on their Android phone with ease and minimal learning.

Subsequent Objectives They are working on improving their app, using Artificial Intelligence [AI] in such a manner that no human intervention is needed to take part in the visual inspection of workmanship. Since they already have a treasure trove of images labeled by humans [engineers at the site, while performing the Quality checks], they need only to build on it but it is their futuristic goal.

While working at the parent company, they came across many end-customers who came to them with requests to comment on the quality of work in the project where they were engaged as CPMC. They did not entertain these requests as this would be a conflict of interest. But when the inquiries came from across India and the numbers steadily increased it dawned on them, then Construction Quality Management was a service interest for them. Now that RERA [Real Estate Regulatory Act] has come into play and their services contribute to the underlying intention behind it, this conjunction with the fact that 100% FDI is allowed in Real Estate, which allowed them to come in and do what is required.

They positively assist Flat Owners’ associations before they take over common areas and amenities of the project from the builders to ensure snag-free operation in the future. The comprehensive inspection is using structured checklists, compiled out of years of experience in all types of projects.

Therefore, decades of professional experience is the backing future objective for Nemmadi. The quality plan is basic and subsequent goal for them, and later Quality assurance and Quality control processes are performed as per already drawn Quality plan to ensure that required quality levels are achieved at every stage of construction. Listening Ability

No one can simply manage a great team, or provide a great customer service. If the person is not an effective communicator then communication is a twoway street. Other thing that must be aware of, non-verbal cues, for example - body language. How it all started? Rewind the tape to 2015. Devina Coutinho, the CoFounder at DesignCoz was then working with Adobe Systems. After her 4-year stint in Bangalore, she wanted to relocate to Mumbai and was looking out for a UX Design job. The start-up scene was booming at the time and she received a couple of offers. While negotiating, one of the startups that was cash-strapped but keen on hiring her, made an interesting offer. They offered to pay within their budget, but reduced the working days in a week to 2. This gave a lot of flexibility and Devina decided to approach other start-ups with the same concept. To her pleasant surprise, the other start-ups also agreed and by the end of the 1st month there were 4 start-ups that she had to visit 1-2 times a week and work out of their offices.


Around the same time, her sister Althea Coutinho also graduated from Symbiosis Institute of Design and was contemplating her next step. Althea had worked previously with June Software for 2 years as a Game and UIUX Designer. As there was more than enough work coming from these 4 start-ups, the sister duo came together and DesignCoz was formed. At this point, they neither had a website nor any connections -Just the desire to do good work.

Good customer service is sales on autopilot DesignCoz have worked with many companies of different sizes, across different geographies and across varied domains. Coverfox, Aster Pharmacies, Timesaverz, Craftsvilla, Instarem, Adobe Systems, Edelweiss, Homelane, ICICI Securities, Oro wealth, etc. are some of their clients. They genuinely want the products designed to succeed in the market. The client notices this care and craftsmanship and in turn, rewards them with repeat business and client referrals. Their designers are tech savvy, detail oriented and ownership driven. They are a 12-member company and all 12 employees are designers only. They have managed to grow organically without any budget or resources allocated for sales or marketing. Their biggest achievement is that clients are happy with their work and have supported their growth.

As Devina puts it, “Maybe doing a regular job would have been easier than visiting different offices on different days. However, in a consulting role where one can be fired with no notice, no questions asked, you need to generate value for your clients and their business every day. You suddenly grow up overnight and become more accountable for your designs and decisions. It’s no longer just about how good your mock-ups are. The bottom line is that the product either gets shipped or not. And your payments are tied to the success of the product in the market.”

Talent wins games, but teamwork wins championships. Today many designers are quitting conventional jobs to work independently for themselves and only do work they enjoy. Thus it’s important to encourage intrapreneurship within a company to ensure that a designer learns and grows constantly. At DesignCoz, there is a firm belief that the only way to grow is to grow together. They know the strengths and weaknesses of every employee in the company and a customized growth path is defined for everyone. Apart from that, they have weekly workshops and talks from industry experts to ensure that they are constantly upgrading their skill sets and awareness on market trends.

Working with clients in-house as their extended team in a cross-functional environment helps improve business thinking. It wasn’t only about user needs anymore, it is about everyone’s needs - marketing, sales, business development, product management and technology. Everyone had to be satisfied to run the business and execute strategies successfully. Since they visited their client’s office only once a week and had to make the best use of time, they got better organized, efficiency and improved their communication skills. The soft skills learned in dealing with almost 60-90 people at a time across companies helped them develop techniques that fueled future growth.

The key to success is to focus on goals and not on obstacles DesignCoz has been 100% bootstrapped and self-sufficient since its inception. During the initial years, the focus was on mastering the trade. This year the focus is on operational efficiency and automating the project delivery pipeline. Other functions like sales, marketing, project delivery, accounts, HR, etc. are being set up to take DesignCoz to the next level. The CoFounders are determined to transfer their passion into a full-fledged digital service provider with global focus. So every day is a new challenge with new milestones to achieve.

The sister duo worked as consultants to start-ups for over a year. They eventually decided to stop working on-site to free up their bandwidth to take up more projects. After that, they moved into their own office space in 2016 and recruited their first batch of full-time employees. Since then, they have grown rapidly and never looked back. The difference between delivering merely good design mock-ups, and actually shipping successful products is Accountability. In 2011 when Devina passed out of IDC, IIT Bombay, designers were recruited at engineering designations in companies. The word UI or UX Design was not commonly used. There were only 3 institutes in India offering UI-UX Design courses. Now, the number has almost increased 10 times in 8 years. Learning and practising design has become very easy. However, the accountability is still missing somewhere. Just submitting design mockups to developers is not enough. Designers need to take complete ownership until their designs reach the market and real users actually use the products. 25

Jaipur is the capital of Rajasthan, where you are going to find many exquisite forts like Amer Fort, City Palace, Hawa Mahal, Jal Mahal, etc. Udaipur is also the lovely tourist spot which is also known as the city of the lakes. It’s in Rajasthan but when you go there you will not feel that you are in Rajasthan, there is a feeling of some hill station and cool place.

Nainital and Mussorie

Nainital is a city of Taals, it’s a wonderful, natural and exotic vacation spot. Beautiful mountains, lakes, and valleys will not let your soul to leave this place.

Recently, Mr. Khandelwal was interviewed by Business Connect Magazine for their upcoming edition, “The Leader Behind an Admirable Company 2022.” The following article is a holistic summary of the discussion.

India is one of the frontiers of fusion clothing, with a market worth of 3.4 billion in 2020. However, foreign fashion giants dominate the majority of this market, and it often becomes difficult for the masses to have access to high-end brands. Mr. Khandelwal says, “These casual clothes with stylish embroidery in cotton, although suited for daily use, are relatively expensive.” He wanted to democratize it and make it available for daily use. With a concrete vision, in 2017, he launched mukul.net.in, an online fusion clothing market with a wide range of fusion wear. Within a brief period, the brand gained fame among the Indian masses for providing style at an affordable price. Many retailers now prefer them because of their growing reputation, and they also exhibit frequently at major trade shows.

Although they have a limited collection, their colors, fabrics, and styles adhere to the comfort of Indian women.

Transparency has long been a source of contention in the apparel industry. Consumers need to know what they are wearing, how their garments are created and how they affect the environment. In India, where foreign brands govern most of the market, they design clothing according to their native region. Ultimately, this hinders accountability because the apparel isn’t 100% tailored for the Indian customer. mukul.net.in adheres to strict quality control standards and the changing trends in women’s fashion. In a market where many e-commerce firms dominate trial and order, mukul.net.in is carving a niche, offering excellence and trust that leads to customer satisfaction.

With this on growing movement and flow of the company we decided to develop our dimensions and reach the market overseas where we expanded our business in the market of Turkey, USA, Bangladesh, Brazil and UK. We also established our office in the city of Coventry, UK. In 2017, we decided to focus our business to specific segment and hospitality industry became our source of focus. We decided to be the only digital marketing company focusing completely on the requirements of Hospitality section.

In current scenario, companies provide services in digital marketing which are sometimes not so honest and inorganic… There are so many agencies or freelancers who are just creating some creatives with the help of some tools and posting them on social media. Client believe that this is all about the digital marketing, they are. I believe in providing the services stratigaically and with transparency which is impacting directly to their business in terms of revenue & better PR. to the customers.

What is your definition of leadership as the key person of the company?

Leadership is the accomplishment of a goal through the direction of human assistants. The man who successfully marshals his human collaborators to achieve particular ends is a leader. A great leader is one who can do so day after day, and year after year, in a wide variety of circumstances. He may not possess or display power; force or the threat of harm may never enter into his dealings. He may not be popular; his followers may never do what he wishes out of love or admiration for him. He may not ever be a colorful person; he may never use memorable devices to dramatize the purposes of his group or to focus attention on his leadership. As for the important matter of setting goals, he may actually be a man of little influence, or even of little skill; as a leader he may merely carry out the plans of others.

What are your values, vision, plans and strategies that contribute to your growth as a leader? I believe in keeping my staff satisfied with the work environment. The core strategy to contribute to the growth of company is to say Yes to customers always…. A customer/ client must not feel that their digital marketing teamI is not doing enough for them. They must feel that they has their own inhouse team who can plan the plenty of things and are very practical.

How are you making an influential mark in your respective industry with your exclusive offerings?

Yes. Entering into Educations as well now. Started from Agrawal Shiksha Samiti. The organization has Agrwala PG college, Agrawal Institute of hotel Management, Agrasen Civil Services academy, Agrasen Public School & a B.Ed college. I have joined them as Marketing Head. I believe will win the trust, management has shown in me. Apart from it launching a hospitality app 1 Reception.

As I have good knowledge of hotel/restaurant operations, They trust me & my team. Team is very honest towards every aspect of promises which they do. I believe in being budget & result centered quality services. Through Prevoir, I always try to make sure to keep them trending and aheed in the current market.

What kind of work culture exists in your organization?

Define your company’s response to the covid-19 crisis in brief. See we are marketing people. Clients believe that we have strategy to deal with each situation. Some of them putted their business on hold and some of them discussed with us and yes strategies worked. It had been little tough in starting days of covid 19 but later we have learnt how to deal with the situation. Our job was to create a new market for each of our client. Yes the support from them was also very outstanding and we all won together.

The work culture in my organization includes being punctual, giving perks to employees, celebrating their achievements, appreciating each employee for the tremendous work they perform and giving the best training to each and every employee so as to you generate more productivity.

What are your motivation strategies? How do you inspire your workforce amid difficult times?

There is a learning for every one during the difficult times. We are not the teachers, time is the best teacher. In difficult situations, everyone learns how to cope up with it and how to come out of it. In such situations, I motivate the staff to learn and just perform their best whatever the result be. The one who performs under those situation is thus the outstanding one.

Do you believe R&D is significant for the growth of your company? If yes, provide us with a brief of it.

Yes, Ofcourse R&D plays very important role in every organization’s growth. Through research employees and employers comes to know about various requirements and situations of industry. We gather information about new technology, new trends in market which helps us to grow in the industry through research. Thus, I happily suggest Research and Development for all employees to grow.

Lastly, is there a message you would like to give to our readers?

If you have a clear picture of what you are looking for your future in your mind, and you work hard enough to achieve it, nothing can stop you to achieve it and soon you will get all what you always wanted to have. Determination, Passion and Innovation are the key to success. Never be afraid of failures as every failure is a source of learning for us.
