18 www.businessconnectindia.in | Vol. 5 Special Edition March 2023 | INDIA
Early Life:
Pichai was born in Madurai, Tamilnadu, India. Lakshmi, his mother, worked as a stenographer, while Regunatha Pichai, his father, was an electrical engineer at the British multinational GEC. His father also owned a factory that made electrical components.
Pichai completed his education at Vana Vani School at IIT Madras and his senior year at Jawahar Vidyalaya Senior Secondary School in Ashok Nagar, Chennai. He is a prominent IIT Kharagpur alumnus who graduated with a degree in metallurgical engineering. He received his M.S. in materials science and engineering from Stanford University and his MBA from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, where he was recognised as a Siebel Scholar and a Palmer Scholar, respectively.
Career:
Initially, Pichai had the plan to do a PhD but instead decided to do a job. He started working in an Applied Materials firm as an engineer and product manager. Then he joined McKinsey & Company and worked as a management consultant. Pichai realised that switching to Google would be a good professional decision after attempting to persuade a McKinsey colleague not to do so. In 2004, on April Fool’s Day, Pichai joined Google. Surprisingly, it was on the same day that Gmail was released to the public.
How Did Sundar Pichai Become CEO of Google?
Pichai joined Google to work on the search toolbar as a manager. The toolbar was created to make it simple for users of Internet Explorer and Firefox to access Google search. Pichai was inspired by the toolbar’s popularity to consider Google creating its own web browser. Google’s former CEO Eric Schmidt said it wasn’t worth the expense.
Pichai, who firmly believed in the concept, eventually persuaded Google’s Larry Page and Sergey Brin to introduce their own web browser, Google Chrome. Pichai oversaw the introduction of Chrome, which later surpassed Firefox and Internet Explorer to claim the title of best web browser worldwide. In 2008, Pichai gained recognition on a global scale as a result of this, and he was appointed Google’s vice president of product development.
Later, he oversaw the developments of other programmes including Gmail and Google Maps. Pichai unveiled ChromeOS on November 19, 2009; the Chromebook was made available for testing and evaluation in 2011, and it was made available to the general public in 2012. He unveiled the new video format, WebM, and announced the opensourcing of the new video codec VP8 by Google on May 20, 2010. Pichai expanded the range of Google products he was responsible for adding Android on March 13, 2013. Prior to Google, Andy Rubin, the director of Jive Software, oversaw Android. He served from April 2011 to July 30, 2013.
Pichai was apparently vigorously chased for employment by microblogging site Twitter in 2011, and in 2014. He was also mentioned as a possible CEO for Microsoft, although in both cases he was given huge cash packages
to stay with Google. Eventually the position of CEO of Microsoft went to Satya Nadella. Pichai was also associated with Google’s $3.2 billion acquisition of Nest Labs in 2014. Consequently, when Google co-founders Larry Page and Sergey Brin declared the establishment of Alphabet Inc. in August 2015, it came as no surprise to industry insiders that Pichai was named CEO of Google, which was reorganised as a subsidiary. In December 2019, he was also named CEO of Alphabet, succeeding Page, who stepped down.
What People Say about Him:
In the words of Chris Beckmann, a former Google product manager, “He hired, mentored, and retained a superb team.” “Like the software engineers within Search Quality, Sundar’s team of product managers had a reputation for being among the best of the best.”
Keval Desai, a former co-worker, describes him as “a really strong opinionated person with distinct point of views about where product and initiative might go, but he’s extremely good at allowing other people’s perspectives emerge before he gives his own.”
Awards
The Government of India in 2022 awarded Pichai the Padma Bhushan Award, the country’s third-highest civilian honour.
Personal life
Pichai enjoys playing football and cricket. Anjali Pichai, a chemical engineer from Kota, Rajasthan, who was born into a middle-class family, is the wife of Sunder Pichai and frequently serves as the driving force behind all of his endeavours.
The couple met while they were in their first year of engineering at the Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur and quickly became close friends. The couple currently resides in San Francisco’s Bay Area with their two kids, a boy named Kiran Pichai and a girl named Kavya Pichai.

India’s
UNIQUE LOCATIONS YOU MUST VISIT BEFORE THEY
DISAPPEAR
India is rich with prominent history, culture and nature and doesn’t disappoint those who are craving for some jaw-dropping places. From north to south and east to west you find great places here to satisfy your wanderlust. However, some of these great places are on the verge of disappearing. If you don’t plan to see them soon, you will probably miss them forever.
LET’S GET INFORMED ABOUT SUCH ENCHANTING BUT ENDANGERED PLACES
1. Rakhigarhi, Haryana
The biggest Indus Valley Civilization, known as Rakhigarhi, is situated in the Ghaggar-Hakra River plain. It has now developed into a small village in Haryana. It is 150 kilometres northwest of Delhi and 27 kilometres from the seasonal Ghaggar River. There are 11 excavation mounds there, numbered RGR1 to RGR11. The mounds RGR1 through RGR6 at Rakhigarhi, which has a total size of 550 hectares, are used as homes. In Rakhigarhi, work is now being done on the Indus Valley Civilization Museum. In addition, Rakhigarhi is 60 kilometres from the Haryana Rural Antique Museum. The lack of adequate protection for the site, according to the research, exposes it to several hazards of loss and destruction, including soil erosion, illicit sand lifting, artefact theft, illegal sale, and encroachment by locals.
3. RamaSethu, Rameshwaram
A group of limestone shoals known as Rama Sethu connects the Indian island of Dhanushkodi with Sri Lanka’s Mannar Island. It is also referred to as Adam’s Bridge According to legend, Rama constructed the bridge with the aid of his monkey army. While it is still only speculation, the sad fact is that
2. Taj Mahal, Agra
Tourists from all over the world visit the Taj Mahal, one of the seven wonders of the world, and it could be about to shut its doors forever. Yes, it is right. The spectacular monument often sees 3 to 4 million visitors enter through its doors, and this enormous amount of tourism is to blame for the structure’s demise. The maintenance staff of this mausoleum claims that a number of things, including air pollution, river pollution, and the rot of the wood supporting the building, are harming this World Heritage Site. It is anticipated that tourists won’t have more than four years to see this incredible architectural marvel.
4. The largest river island is Majuli, Assam Majuli, which is located in upper Assam, is one of India’s most diversified wildlife zones. This river island is home to many different species of birds and animals, including elephants, tigers, deer, and rabbits. Tragically, the island is getting smaller— from 483 km to 421 km—
all because of deforestation, which causes severe erosion. According to certain studies, Majuli will be gone in 15 to 20 years if things continue as they are.

the government of India’s proposed Sethusamudram Shipping Canal Project poses a serious danger to the continued survival of this natural treasure.
Travel
5. Shimla Civic Center, Himachal Pradesh
The British were interested in Shimla as a possible summer retreat and built a number of colonialstyle structures that gave the town its distinctive appearance. As the years passed and the British departed India, the colonial hill town was destroyed by unplanned urbanisation due to lack of upkeep and uncontrolled expansion. One of the four Indian structures that are listed as being “at risk” by the World Monuments Fund is the Civic Center.
6. Meghalaya’s Balpakram Forest
The native Garo tribe resides in Meghalaya’s Balpakram National Park, which is in the southern region of the state. According to folklore, this is the location where the spirits of the deceased repose. This location is a haven for those who enjoy nature and photography because of the abundance of beautiful foliage and fauna.
However, the forest area is shrinking nearly daily as a result of coal mines and water dams, which in the near future will certainly pose a threat to the survival of all creatures in the area.
7. Wular Lake, Jammu & Kashmir
One of the 46 wetlands in India that have been classified as Ramsar sites is Wular Lake. It is also one of Asia’s biggest freshwater lakes. In Jammu and Kashmir, it is situated in the Bandipora district. The seasonal area of Wular Lake ranges from 30 to 189 square kilometres. The majority of locals in that area, as well
as many terrestrial birds, make their livelihood by fishing. The water body may become smaller or even disappear in the future as a result of environmental hazards such as weed infestation, animal waste contamination, hunting of migrating birds, and conversion of catchment regions into agricultural land.
8. Sunderbans, West Bengal
The mangrove environment of Sunderbans is regarded as the biggest in the world. In the Bay of Bengal, the rivers Meghna, Brahmaputra, and Ganges combine to create it. Sundarbans National Park, Sundarbans West, Sundarbans South, and Sundarbans East Wildlife Sanctuaries are the four UNESCO World Heritage Sites that make up this region. In the future, the entire region might be submerged under water due to both natural and human-caused factors like cyclones, sea level rise, and declining biodiversity.
9. The majestic Jaisalmer Fort in Rajasthan
A prominent example of a huge fortress is the Jaisalmer Fort in Rajasthan. In India, the Rajputs are extremely proud of it. The fort, which is a popular tourist destination, has the unusual characteristic that numerous families still reside there. The WMF has added this 12th-century
fort on its watch list because of the deteriorating condition of the fort and the addition of modern plumbing and plumbing fixtures.
10. Coral Reef, Lakshadweep
One of India’s four coral reef zones is Lakshadweep. Tourists find the place to be appealing thanks to the corals. With the exception of one platform that possesses Androth, most of the reefs in the Lakshadweep are atolls. The Lakshadweep atolls typically include Kalpeni, Kadmat, Kiltan, and Chetlat. Blast fishing, coral mining,
and altering of navigational paths are some of the dangers to its survival. In addition to these dangers, global warming also poses a threat to coral reefs.

‘Stewardship’ cultivating a vibrant work culture
For both the co-founders, a quote from Ronald Reagan speaks the most, “The greatest leader is not necessarily the one who does the greatest things. He is the one that gets the people to do the greatest things.” And to keep in touch with this saying, they are always into acting strategically, gathering, organizing, and putting ideas into practice, sharing knowledge, and building platforms. Improving the values, dependability, honesty, and trust in the work culture. Fostering a better working and learning environment through teamwork has always been under their radar.
Maintaining engineering ethics is required at ENG VB. They are doing well on every level, from developing dependable, trustworthy, modern, and efficient designs to achieving work-life balance. By giving everyone the equal opportunity and treating everyone with respect and decency, they cooperate. They value the ideas, creativity, and concepts that engineers contribute to the development of our company. Here, ENG VB not only discusses culture but also incorporates it into daily life.
Milestones and accomplishments so far
ENG VB has come a long way in terms of success. A few of the worthy accolades include the following mentions-

• It has developed the team strength from 25 to 65 employees in the last 7 months.
• Expanded boundaries of design consultancy to big commercials, warehouses & industrial projects.
The future endeavors
When questioned to share their future roadmap for the growth of the company, the leaders responded, “We are well recognized and utilized in the Indian AEC sector. We now have plans to engage with clients outside of India in the UK, the Middle East, and the US to create an infrastructure that is more effective and sustainable. Plans for market expansion on a global scale. Soon, we will be establishing a global, powerful network in the AEC sector.”
The signing-off note
Before putting an end to the conversation, the co-founders shared the words to be conveyed to the readers, “Develop trust via your job and with your staff. Always be open to learning new things, assimilating them, and sharing them with others. Organize your entrepreneurial path into learning, earning, and giving categories. We at ENG VB are becoming a leader in the field of virtual-built construction. The addition of millions of square feet of BUA to our inventory demonstrates the value we uphold via our work, the confidence we have earned from our customers, and the effectiveness we demand from our workers. We’re glad to have you and encourage you to come to see our headquarters and the work we’re doing. Through our efficient method of operation, we are dedicated to providing 100% client satisfaction.”

All about Halloween-when and why It is celebrated
One of the most eagerly awaited holidays in the west is Halloween, particularly among Christians. In addition to dressing up in spooky attire, trickor-treating, attending costume parties, watching scary movies, and carving pumpkins into jack-o’-lanterns are some of the enjoyable activities that people engage in.
Halloween is a singular tradition that is enthusiastically observed by both adults and children alike and is full of excitement and horror. However, why is Halloween observed, and why only on October 31?
Halloween has a long history, which most people are unaware of. It’s not merely for entertainment purposes. On that topic, we present to you this thorough article on Halloween, its history, significance, and customs.
30 www.businessconnectindia.in | Vol. 5 Special Edition March 2023 | INDIA
What Does Halloween Mean?
Modern English name Halloween first appeared in Medieval Christianity. The word hallow derives from Middle and Old English roots that mean holy. It can also be used as a saint as a noun. All Hallows Eve, the Christian holiday we now know as All Saints Day, was the day before All Hallows Eve, when an evening mass was celebrated. The three-word terms were eventually turned into Halloween.
Why is Halloween Celebrated?
Halloween is a more than a thousand-year-old Christian religious tradition. Although it started as a tradition to honour the night before All Hallows’ Day, or All Saints’ Day, on November 1, it has since become increasingly secular.
In Christianity, All Saints’ Day, Halloween, and All Souls’ Day (2 November) are all a part of the Allhallowtide season. It is devoted to remembering all the deceased, including saints and martyrs.
Samhain and other Celtic harvest celebrations have inspired some Halloween traditions as well (held on November 1). On this day, it was said, the souls of the deceased made their way back to the world of the living. To fend off the spirits, people donned costumes and built bonfires. Halloween’s association with ghosts, witches, and other bad creatures stems from this.
What Happens on Halloween?
Halloween, which is still widely celebrated in America today, almost never made it over the Atlantic. The Puritans refrained from celebrating the feast because of its pagan origins. The American colonial Halloween celebrations that did occur included large public gatherings when ghost stories, music, dancing, and singing were all performed.
The holiday did not become ingrained in the national spirit until the second half of the 19th century, when Irish and Scottish immigrants started to immigrate to America in greater numbers. The large number of (candy-loving, costume-wearing) people in North America are considered to have observed Halloween by the early 20th century.
Halloween customs are still developing today. Some people dress up their cars in frightening tailgate fashion for community trick-or-treat events, which are frequently organised in school or church parking lots. This is an

Celebration
alternative to trick-or-treating throughout the neighbourhood. In response to a popular campaign to shift Halloween, National Trick-or-Treat Day was established on the final Saturday in October in 2019. However, Halloween continues to be observed on October 31, and local organisers determine whether and how towns will observe the new National Trickor-Treat Day.
Halloween is undoubtedly the world’s most enjoyable holiday. Every year on October 31, both adults and kids joyfully participate in numerous Halloween rituals. Following is a list of some of them:
• Making Pumpkin Jack-O’-Lanterns
• Donning Frightful Costumes
• Going Trick or Treat
• Candle Care and Lighting Bonfires
• “Apple bob”
• Consuming a Lot of Candy
• Visiting spooky locations
• Playing Jokes
• Watching horror films
Halloween Activities Throughout History
As the Celts practised polytheism, the early pagan feast of Samhain included a great deal of ritualistic activities to establish a connection with spirits. Although little is known about these festivities, many people think the Celts celebrated by dressing up (granted, costumes were probably as primitive as animal hides), participating in special feasts, and creating lanterns by hollowing out gourds (thus the origin of jack-o’lanterns). The fundamental customs of the holiday have persisted in popular culture year after year, simply evolving and becoming more contemporary as Christianity has grown and the event’s pagan overtones have become less significant. More cheerful sports and joy replaced the ancient
mysterious practices. For example, the scary and serious idea of connecting to the dead was replaced with the more light-hearted idea of telling the future. For instance, “bob for apples” became a common game on All Hallows’ Eve and was used as a type of fate telling. The guy—er, apple— that the woman eventually bit into was thought to represent her future husband. Apples were chosen to stand in for all of a woman’s potential suitors. In fact, young women had a great—though somewhat superstitious—opportunity to meet men around Halloween in the 19th century.
Another popular All Hallows Eve tradition was mirror gazing, in which individuals looked into mirrors in an effort to see their future selves. There are also suggestions that gifts resembling fortune cookies were given out in earlier times. After being scribbled on sheets of paper in milk, the letters were folded and placed inside of walnut shells. After the shells were heated over a fire, giving the milk the perfect colour of brown, the messages would appear miraculously on the recipient’s paper.
Why is Halloween on the 31st of October?
The Celts, who inhabited what is now mostly northern France, the United Kingdom, and Ireland 2,000 years ago, held the view that the line separating this season’s summer and winter was hazy on the night that marked the transition. It later became a convenient time for the festival because the Celts celebrated their new year on November 1. They thought that during the night of October 31, the ghosts of the deceased returned to the world.
Why are pumpkins carved on Halloween?
Turnips were traditionally carved on Halloween because of the legend of Stingy Jack, who is said to have caught the Devil and only let him go on the condition that he would never go to hell. When Irish immigrants brought the concept to America, they began substituting pumpkins for turnips.
Halloween costumes and trick-or-treating history
A lot of people were rumoured to go door to door dressed as saints and perform hymns or poetry. As a delicacy resembling biscuits, “soul cakes,” kids would also knock on doors and ask for them. Technical note: Soul cakes were originally served on November 2 as part of the All Souls’ Day holiday (yeah, there’s a third holiday after Halloween and All Saints’ Day!), but when trick-or-treating took hold, they gradually migrated to Halloween night. In the early to mid-1900s, families would give treats to kids in the hopes that they would be resistant to any holiday pranks, which is when the candy-grabbing concept also became popular in the U.S.
The costumes also underwent evolution. The practice of dressing up in spooky attire to scare unaware neighbours may have started out as sincere honours to saints, but it is likely that it eventually lost popularity. This is when teenage Scots and Irish pranksters came up with the idea. And just like that, Halloween costumes became terrifying, eerie, amusing, and imaginative all at the same time, all thanks to these neighbourhood thugs.

GVFL PREPS UP TO MAKE A BIGGER IMPACT ON THE STARTUP ECOSYSTEM
GVFL, formerly known as Gujarat Venture Finance Limited, is the pioneer of venture capital in India. Founded in 1990 at the initiative of the World Bank and managed by an independent and autonomous board, GVFL ushered in the dawn of venture capital in India. Over the past three decades, Ahmedabad-based GVFL has supported several ventures working on cutting-edge technology as well as encouraged entrepreneurs with innovative ideas.
GVFL has carved out a niche for itself by making marquee investments in early-stage to growth-stage startups and companies across sectors through various funds. GVFL has raised eight venture capital funds that have supported close to 100 companies.
Leveraging on decades of full investment lifecycle experience in startup investing, GVFL launched its 9th Fund - GVFL Emerging Enterprises Fund in June 2022. This Fund looks to invest in early to growth-stage, tech-enabled, sector-agnostic and asset-light startups and MSMEs with a ticket size of Rs. 5 crore to Rs. 20 crore. GVFL had invested Rs. 50 crore in seven early-stage companies in 2022. It was the first institutional investor in four of the seven companies, reflecting its commitment to supporting new and exciting business ideas.
GVFL’s most recent investment was in the country’s fastest-growing K-12 (kindergarten to 12th) pedagogy company Saarthi Pedagogy. The Ahmedabad-based B2B EdTech startup currently covers 1,500 schools across India and has onboarded two lakh students. GVFL’s investment will help it expand its reach to over 5,000 schools and onboard 8 lakh students.
In its endeavour to make a bigger contribution to the startup ecosystem, GVFL has chalked out plans to scale up its investments and plans to invest around Rs. 100 crore in 2023 in a wide variety of startups. GVFL is also set to launch “GVFL Prarambh Fund” – a Seed Stage Fund with a target corpus of Rs. 200 crore. The Fund will invest Rs. 50 lakh to Rs. 2 crore in seed-stage, early-stage, proof of concept, or product prototype-ready startups. The fund will invest in startups and MSMEs in EdTech, D2C, HealthTech, Agritech, BioTech, Software as a Service (SaaS), DeepTech, AI & ML and Consumer brands.
Kamal Bansal Managing Director
For the Seed Fund, GVFL will raise Rs. 100 crore from various Institutions, Family Offices and HNIs in addition to investment of Rs. 100 crore from the Government of Gujarat, which has committed Rs. 1,000 for the next five years for Venture Capital investments in sectoragnostic tech startups in Gujarat.
A unique feature of GVFL’s approach has been its broad-spectrum support to its funded entities which ranges from strategic direction to governance support. Some of the ventures GVFL has invested from previous Fund include Clientjoy, Ecotrail Personal Care, Optimised Electrotech, Sequretek, Petpooja, Qarmatek and India INX, etc.

The conventional wisdom about investing has mostly changed over the past year, but one thing hasn’t: The finest value stocks on Wall Street are still a popular choice for long-term investors. And that’s probably going to continue as 2023 approaches. The S&P 500 is in a bear market and has lost almost 17% so far this year. Markets for energy are being disrupted by the ongoing conflict in Ukraine. Furthermore, substantial changes in interest-rate policy continue to undermine investment methods that have been successful for a number of years.
But investing has this drawback. Thinking beyond the obvious chances and using a holistic approach that will produce results in even the most difficult settings are crucial if you want to advance in life. This entails looking beyond the formerly popular growth investments to value stocks that, despite recent turbulence, still have long-term upside.

to buy before 2023
Companies with strong balance sheets that consistently return cash to shareholders through dividend payments rather than making aggressive investments in business expansion make up the less-flashy value stocks. Here are the top five value stocks to purchase right now in light of that. The stocks included here all have above-market dividend yields and are trading at significantly lower share prices or at significantly lower valuations than they were at the beginning of the year. As we get ready for the new year, it would be wise to take a closer look at the high-quality value investments of this type.
1. Occidental Petroleum Stock
According to MarketSmith analysis, the Warren Buffett stock is now in a buy zone after earlier crossing the 72.14 buy threshold from a cup-and-handle base. The shares are trading substantially above their 200-day moving average and above their 50-day line, both bullish indicators.
The relative strength line is also close to highs, which strengthens the positive picture. This contrasts the performance of a stock with the S&P 500. The stock has increased by around 133% so far this year, far outpacing the general stock market.
Even if price performance is exceptional, earnings are also rising. The stock now has an EPS Rating of 81, and the company revealed last week that earnings increased by 18% in the most recent quarter. The oil producer also revealed that while output was largely flat in the third quarter, it returned over $2 billion to investors. OXY said that thus far in 2022, it had given $2.6 billion in dividends to its stockholders. In the third quarter, Occidental Petroleum reported capital expenditures of $1.1 billion and output of 1.18 million barrels of oil equivalent per day, an increase of less than 1% from Q3 2021.
Warren Buffett is a big Occidental lover. According to SEC filings, his company Berkshire Hathaway has grown its OXY investment to 20.9%, with warrants that could increase the stake to more than 25% of outstanding shares. This comes after Berkshire was given permission on August 19 by the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) to acquire up to 50%
of the energy giant. Given Berkshire Hathaway’s value-driven DNA, though, it “could require a huge decrease in oil prices to motivate an acquisition of that scale,” according to a Wall Street Journal story.
Occidental Petroleum, situated in Houston, is one of the top S&P 500 performers, and oil and gas companies have routinely outperformed the 2022 market. Fuel costs have increased as a result of inflation and Russia’s invasion of Ukraine in February, which has benefited the economy. However, since reaching a high in June, crude oil prices have fallen sharply, with a recent low of $85 per barrel.
The company’s main operations in oil, natural gas liquids, and natural gas have not yet been affected. The heavyweight, on the other hand, has a petrochemicals division that has had trouble ever since the collapse of home sales.
One of the top three suppliers is the branch of Oxychem that manufactures PVC pipe. This chlorinated hydrocarbon is manufactured from salt and natural gas, and it is used in plumbing.
2. Teladoc Health
This year, the stock price of Teladoc Health (NYSE: TDOC) fell 63%. With two-billion-dollar non-cash goodwill impairment charges, the pioneer in telemedicine let investors down. Investors’ worries about the business’s lack of profitability increased as a result.
37 www.businessconnectindia.in | Vol. 5 Special Edition March 2023 | INDIA
However, Teladoc may have passed through its most challenging period. Teladoc’s net loss decreased in the third quarter. Revenue and customer visits increased by double digits. Additionally, Teladoc reported that the average deal size today is around 50% larger than it was a year ago. Companies hampered by the current economic climate and coronavirus disruptions have taken longer than anticipated to complete their Teladoc initiatives. These problems are transitory. Teladoc can have a noticeable recovery when things get better. As of right now, the business has succeeded in growing the number of American members.
3.
Vertex Pharmaceuticals
One of the year’s top stock market performers is Vertex Pharmaceuticals (NASDAQ: VRTX). The shares have increased 38%. Vertex, however, might only be getting warmed up. That’s because the business is going through a significant shift right now. The biotech company already holds a commanding position in the cystic fibrosis (CF) therapy industry. Each year, the CF portfolio generates billions of dollars in sales and profit. However, Vertex is set to diversify into yet another important therapeutic field.
Regulators in the US, EU, and UK will get the beta thalassemia and sickle cell disease candidate that Vertex and partner CRISPR Therapeutics are filing this month. The product could launch soon if everything goes according to plan. Vertex therefore faces a clear catalyst.
4.
General Motors
After dropping below a cup-with-handle base optimum entry point of 40.20, MarketSmith research reveals that GM stock is now barely below the purchase zone. Even if a large portion of the base formed below the crucial 50-day moving average, the GM stock is once again above it. Around the 200-day line, GM precisely constructed the handle. After taking a recent drop, the RS line is now moving forward once more. However, it is down from year highs.
Earnings growth and stock market success are roughly parallel. Despite recent gains, the stock still needs to recover its losses from the year before. In the most recent quarter, General Motors ended a four-quarter streak of dropping earnings. Earnings at GM increased by 48% to $2.25 per share, exceeding analyst expectations. Although revenue increased by 56% to $41.889 billion, it fell short of Wall Street projections.
General Motors still expects full-year EPS of $6.50 to $7.50 despite the significant Q3 beat. Continued expectations include automotive free cash flow of $7 billion to $9 billion and wholesale volumes that are 25% to 30% higher. GM’s full-year profits per share are now projected by Wall Street to be $7.10,
up 0.4%. The stock has recently seen large-scale purchases, as seen by its B- Accumulation/Distribution Rating. Funds hold a total of 48% of its stock.
The N, which stands for New Products, is an important component of the CAN SLIM formula that GM is pursuing. By 2035, GM has stated that it intends to gradually stop selling ICE light vehicles. According to CEO Mary Barra’s latest letter to shareholders, GM will talk about the “rapid scaling of our EV portfolio” at an investor day on Nov. 17. An EV ramp is essential for General Motors as it competes with Tesla (TSLA).
Through 2024, GM plans to sell 400,000 electric vehicles in North America. However, its expensive new Hummer and Lyriq EV vehicles sold fewer than 500 units combined last quarter, with the majority of its EV sales coming from an older but updated Chevrolet Bolt model. The car manufacturer wants to roughly 60% expand Bolt EV output the next year.
The first all-electric Silverado truck, Blazer SUV, and Equinox SUV crossover will all go on sale in 2023 under GM’s Chevrolet brand, which is renowned for its affordability. The auto industry’s expectations are closely watched, along with earnings. Due to rising interest rates and growing recessionary fears, investors and industry observers are on the lookout for any indications of lower demand. Demand is still robust, according to GM CEO Mary Barra, who echoed past assertions made by GM and Ford management.
5. Moldtek Packaging
In terms of rigid plastic packaging, the business dominates the Indian market. It creates containers for food, paint, lubricants, and other items that are injection moulded. ITC, HUL, Asian Paints, Nestle, Britannia, and other notable companies are among the company’s major clients. This month, Vertex and partner CRISPR Therapeutics are submitting their potential treatment for the blood disorders beta thalassemia and sickle cell disease to regulators in the United States, Europe, and the United Kingdom. The product may launch soon if everything goes according to plan. Thus, Vertex will soon experience a definite catalyst. By the start of the financial year 2024, the company will expand its Daman facility by building a second one to meet the expanding food and FMCG demand in the Western region.
The Sultanpur, India, facility that will produce IBM products as well as injection-blow-molded pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, and over-the-counter (OTC) goods will be operating at the same time. In addition, its pilot facility will begin operating in September–October 2023 to make over-the-counter (OTC) products. A significant order for the OTC product has already been placed with the company by an FMCG company.

Changing issues into opportunities
Covid-19 posed serious challenges to the survival of each business venture. Leaf Craft also faced intense challenges in the curation of developing health-assisting apps to address issues of the statements thriving in society. Numerous No code and Low code solutions assisted groups and organizations in addressing particular problems, but they also introduced holes in process management. The original concept of Leaf Craft was to speed up the development process while maintaining a standard degree of product robustness. They have created internal products in a variety of industries, including health, SaaS, and finance, and little and no code. The goal is to help startups and individuals with technology from 0 to 10. They firmly think of Time as well as Product Cost. Obviously, when the time is shortened, the cost is reduced.
The founder’s differentiation
As the founder, Khoushik Ananth has been part of IIIT Hyderabad which always pushed him forward to work and pull in likeminded people. Facilitating peer-to-peer team development, everyone ensures a lot of encouragement to each other that enables swift learning and compassion. What is even more important is to build a team on peer-to-peer references. Similarly, during the covid-19 crisis, they acknowledged the problem gaps like rapid building and POC that made a huge difference to everyone. There are numerous key factors that allow identifying the above problems and bringing in reasonable solutions without disturbing the existing flow of development.
“As things are ever-evolving, we do the same with our code base to get going. We understand the client’s needs and the space where things are going out in the market. Building on MSP(Minimum support price) would be our ideal way to Go! With ever-changing clients and tech, we have an update process to keep our code bases up to date,” claims Khoushik.
Inclusive Project Management
For ensuring the best-in-class project management facility, they are assigning a product manager that ensures follow-up on the clients regarding the design, development, change and adoption. Analyzing the time expenditure and money spent in the building process, they ensure to establish an inclusive project management process. Moreover, the most considerable and significant aspect of building quality products is a well-established pipeline that facilitates better functioning. From building products with well-tested and already production-utilized and ready code modules, they have always managed to stay ahead of the curve so far.
“We cater to the individuals, small businesses, and medium businesses looking for SaaS products to drive their needs. We are currently associated with Bring your own belly (BYOB), Instonomy & P2E Pro. Faith comes from the Delivery of the product and support and we succeed in doing these things right,” remarked Khoushik regarding his inclusive project management.
R&D implementation
R&D is not just a mere formal process but a key factor to keep up to date on the codebase for seamless workflow at the company. Their exemplary outstanding work on the applications and products that ease product development for customers and internal staff. R&D has become necessary to improve the provision for customers. It should also enable ease to the company’s team and help them experience effortlessness in the process of holistic growth.
From networking to tech utilization, they have been taking major steps to create the distinction with the R & D process, addressing the problem statements. They have worked in the past to provide the end customers with different sorts of examples and perceptions towards product building. Till now, they have been blessed to be with inbound calls for making a better product line.
Achievements and accolades
Since its inception, the company has been known to build applications to assist clients to build their product ideas with one click approach only. They have been looking forward to building next-generation applications/ proof of concept for the end customers in the coming years. So far, they have successfully built 450+ code modules delivering 3 projects in less than a year with an accelerated code base pipeline. Also, Leaf Craft has built 4 shelf products that grabbed eyeballs across the industry. Assisting more and more customers to build accelerated pipelines in more affordable packages, it has become one of the promising companies in its niche market.
Words to convey…
“Products are very specific in nature and the team’s understanding of the products is based on in-depth study. Well, we have our own understanding of our thought process in comprehending things surrounding us from requirements to features and user stories. Sometimes, you’re just on the Idea Verse of a building. So, there you need a bunch of people who can diversify thinking and contemplation. Team building becomes an essential pillar to be laid down. Yet comes another one, bringing everyone onto the same page. This becomes organizational goals to be acknowledged by the team. Having sorted all these, bringing product in time is enabled by good planning, having tons of people won’t accelerate builds. Sticking to what has been planned is a good dream come true. So far so good. Now the hurdle of the millennium go to market, “try it out” that’s a big ask from users making the best use of timing when do you ask? All these pass through and you see acceptance. Maintaining trust is what companies thrive for.”
- Khoushik Ananth, the CEO

The Beginning
Sometime in the middle of 2021, Aasheesh his partners were consulting a foreign startup looking to setup shop in India. They needed assistance in starting their business in India. Not only did they advise them on potential markets, but also helped them plan their Go-to-Market strategy and assisted them in hiring tech resources keeping in mind the HR compliance in India. At this point, they saw the enormous potential of the EOR model and their ability to take advantage of India’s abundant pool of tech-skilled people resources.
From here on began their journey with their first employee who joined in January of last year. They have since expanded exponentially in a short span of little over a year.

The USPs
Since it relieves businesses of the burden of the hiring procedure and of complying with local government laws for human resources, SpeedMart® TechHire’s integrated approach to recruiting and payroll administration is innovative and well-liked by its clients.

For instance, during its rigorous hiring process, SpeedMart TechHire transparently shares candidate profiles, including candidate contact information and skill and project-specific experience. The company takes pride in providing such in-depth skill details about the shortlisted candidates.
Tech utilization space
In spite of the fact that the IT sector has experienced more than three decades of stability and growth, including the
2008 financial crisis, the pandemic that followed, and the current slowdown brought on by the conflict in Ukraine, the demand for its products continues to rise. Furthermore, because startups present the use of technology as a USP, they continue to rely heavily on it to flourish. Even traditional industries are continuing to invest in technology due to the development of AI and big data as well as the global legal environment’s constant change. Furthermore, there has been an increasing desire for technology to better take advantage of the expanding social media. Given this, an EOR partner is both a lucrative and win-win proposition for global companies.
The Team
Aasheesh leads a team of the corporate professionals hailing from different backgrounds contributing to different aspects of the company. Let’s meet his team leads-
An experienced educator, Vrinda Verma has worked at India’s top institution, The Shri Ram School for over 25 years. She is adept in people management and has strong organizational abilities and a good understanding of tech tools. She leads the recruitment, payroll and backend operations.
Stephen Cherian is a seasoned enterprise professional with over 24 years of sales, marketing & business operations experience having worked with Tata Tele, Idea Cellular, MTS & Global Tele. He specializes in business development and channel management and manages the same wings in the company.

The Future Roadmap
Before signing off from the conversation, Aasheesh shares his plan for the next five years, “We are on a solid footing and plan to expand in the coming years. We plan to reach a three-digit employee count in this calendar year as we add a few more client partners, on way to tripling in the coming few years. We remain steadfast on our growth plans and would add up direct tech development as a next step to growth.”

48 www.businessconnectindia.in | Vol. 5 Special Edition March 2023 | INDIA Desserts You Won’t Believe Are Actually HEALTHY Healthy is boring. But it’s not. In fact, when done right, healthy eating can be delicious and satisfying. There are countless dessert recipes that are healthier than most people think. This will be one of the helpful posts on desserts that are actually healthy. So, here we go! Dark Chocolate Orange Pineapple Oat Balls Peanut Butter Mug Cake Peanut Butter Frozen Yogurt 01 02 03 04 05 Cuisine
01 - Dark Chocolate Mocha Mousse
Dark Chocolate Mocha Mousse is a delicious and healthy snack or dessert. It tastes like mocha but with the flavor of chocolate, it is not too sweet. The texture of this mousse is smooth and creamy, similar to a pudding. When you eat it, the chocolate flavor comes out first, followed by a slight hint of coffee. The mocha’s taste isn’t overpowering, so you can enjoy this treat without having to worry about feeling sick afterwards.
The best part about Dark Chocolate Mocha Mousse is that it’s low in calories and sugar! Each serving has only 150 calories and 2 grams of sugar per serving (about 1/4 cup). That means you can indulge without worrying about gaining weight or putting on unwanted pounds after eating something tasty like this! If you’re looking for something sweet that won’t make you regret your decision later on down the road, try out Dark Chocolate Mocha Mousse next time you’re craving something sweet!
02 - Orange Pineapple Squares
Orange Pineapple Squares are a delicious treat that’s both healthy and easy to make. The taste of Orange Pineapple Squares is like a cross between pineapple and orange, with a hint of coconut in there as well. They’re sweet and refreshing, but they don’t leave you feeling like you’re eating an orange. They’re light and fruity, which is why they make such a good snack or dessert!
And did we mention how healthy they are? Eating this snack will help you stay energized throughout the day—and if you have one at lunchtime, you’ll have more energy for school than if you had something less healthy. And if it’s after dinner time? You’ll feel so good that you won’t even have time to feel guilty after eating them. So, whether it’s morning or night time: go ahead and give these squares a try.
03 - Brownie Batter Healthy Oat Balls
Brownie Batter Healthy Oat Balls are the perfect dessert for any occasion. They’re a delicious and healthy treat that can be made in just minutes, so you’ll never have to wait for them to bake. The combination of brownie batter, oats, and chia seeds makes these balls incredibly moist and delicious—and they’re also packed with protein.
They taste like a brownie baked with oatmeal and chia seeds, but they’re much lighter than your usual brownie and don’t contain any oil or sugar. They’re made with just three ingredients: brownie batter, rolled oats and chia seeds!
These healthy oat balls are perfect for anyone who wants to make healthier food choices without sacrificing taste or quality. They’re just as delicious as traditional brownies, too— you won’t even miss the added sugar!
04 - 2-Minute Chocolate Peanut Butter Mug Cake
Oh, the sweet taste of a 2-Minute Chocolate Peanut Butter Mug Cake! It’s like a chocolate cupcake, but in mug form. It’s super moist and fudgy: the perfect combination of brownie and cake. This recipe is also super healthy, with only half a tablespoon of butter and no oil. The peanut butter adds just enough moisture to keep this recipe from being dry, but it doesn’t make it too heavy—you’ll still be able to enjoy every bite without getting uncomfortably full.
You can make your own peanut butter or buy it from the store, but if you can’t find any in your area then I recommend grabbing some at Costco or Sam’s Club. They have great prices and are always stocked up on bulk items like nuts and candies!
05 - Peanut Butter Swirl Frozen Yogurt
Peanut Butter Swirl Frozen Yogurt is a delicious treat that’s full of healthy fats and protein. It’s also low in sugar, making it an ideal snack for anyone looking to curb their cravings without going overboard. The taste is amazing—it’s like biting into a peanut butter ball on your tongue. Plus, it has a ton of protein and healthy fats that help keep you full and satisfied.
We love Peanut Butter Swirl Frozen Yogurt because it’s fun, delicious, and easy to make at home with just a few ingredients!
06 - Vanilla “sugar” cookies
Vanilla “sugar” cookies are a delicious cookie that is both delicious and healthy. If you’ve ever had the chance to try a vanilla “sugar” cookie, then you know exactly what I’m talking about. They taste like the best kind of sugar cookie, but they’re also very healthy. Vanilla “sugar” cookies are made with whole wheat flour and have no added sugars. They’re also low in calories, so they’re perfect for anyone who wants to lose weight or maintain a healthy diet.
If you’re looking for something sweet to have during the holidays, or if you just want to treat yourself every once and a while, then try making some vanilla “sugar” cookies!
07 - Applesauce
Applesauce is a dessert that is made by mixing apples and sugar together, which results in a sweet, tangy flavor. It’s also very nutritious, because it contains antioxidants that help your body fight off disease and keep your immune system healthy. When you eat applesauce, your taste buds will be able to detect the sweetness of the fruit without any added sugar. The antioxidants in applesauce help lower the risk of heart disease and cancer, so eating it regularly can help keep you healthy. It’s hard to believe that desserts are actually healthy, but they are. So, take a break from your daily routine and enjoy some of these treats with a glass of water—you’ll be surprised at how good they taste.
