EARLY LIFE Arianna Huffington was born as Ariadne-Anna Stasinopoulou in Athens, Greece, on July 15, 1950. She moved to the United Kingdom to study Economics at GIRTON College, Cambridge, at the age of 16. She was the first foreigner and the third female President of the Cambridge Union
CAREER Arianna began her career as a writer when, in 1973, she published a book called ‘The Female Woman’. In her write-ups, she has criticized the drive for Women’s Liberation. She has written articles and biographies of Maria Callas named‘Maria Callas - The Woman Behind the Legend’, and a life story of Pablo Picasso, ‘Picasso: Creator and Destroyer’, for the National Review. Arianna dipped her toes into acting. She starred in shows such as Roseanne and How I Met Your Mother. The path of her career was full of ups and downs. Despite the success of her first book, she had to face 36 rejections for her second book. Rather than sitting back and getting upset, Arianna decided to gain confidence and wisdom with each failure to take up even greater obstacles that she can tackle. The rejections only strengthened her determination in future pursuits. She stood up and together with her business partner Ken Lerer, launched The Huffington Post. Today, as HuffPost is continuing to dominate Internet media, sustainability has been achieved and traffic is currently five times higher than its new media opponents.
In the 2003 California recall election for the post of Governor, Arianna took part but withdrew her nomination. Hosted by Arianna Ariannaonline. com. For her novel, “Maria Callas”, Arianna was charged with plagiarism, but the case was settled out of court. Spiritually inclined, she studied the philosophy of Rajneesh. Recognition – In the first-ever ranking of the “Most Prominent Women in the Media” and Forbes’ 52nd “Most Popular Woman” in the World, Arianna was 12th. In the ranking of “The Guardian’s Top 100 in Media,” she is ranked in 42nd place.
CLIMBING TO THE HEIGHTS Arianna oversees a public interest organization, The Detroit Project. This project encourages automobile manufacturers to develop cars that can be operated on renewable fuels. With Huffington and Matalin, a combined radio show was broadcasted over the weekends, Arianna was on the panel of Both Sides Now. As a Young World Counsellor, who is blessed with exceptional speechmaking abilities, she addressed representatives at summits held in Johannesburg, South Africa, Dublin and Ireland. She took part in the 24th annual “Distinguished Speaker Series” that was held at the University at Buffalo, New York. As a panel member for the BBC Radio 4 political debate show that aired regularly and Call My Bluff and Face the Music, a television panel game, Arianna was affiliated with the BBC. She co-hosted the nationally-consolidated “Both Sides Now” public radio show.

The Woman who built The Bear House Indranil Roy | Business Connect Ms. Tanvi Somaiya, Director at The Bear House, started the company as a hobby. The response to the launch was extraordinary & that motivated her to take a leap of faith. She then decided to expand it into a full-fledged brand. Tanvi started manufacturing 15,000 units and has now moved into producing garments in lakhs. The team has successfully grown in all facets. In about 3 years, The Bear House is present on over 10 E-commerce platforms. It has a profitable and independent e-commerce website too. Looking to the yesteryears, Tanvi recalls “When I look back, I certainly feel proud. I have done everything in my power to make The Bear House grow, it’s made me believe that if you work hard for it, nothing is impossible. Some circumstances completely shook me but made me strong as a person. We all sometimes hit a rock bottom, but being an entrepreneur has taught me to push beyond my limits to accomplish things that I never thought I could. ” As design and fashion always interested her, she upscaled herself through Fashion & Clothing Technology course at NIFT, Kharghar. Moving forward she assisted reputed fashion designers as a stylist for various magazines, ad films & fashion shows. She garnered knowledge in the manufacturing field & understood the production aspect due to her experience in an export house which specialized in shirts for 2 years. As a result of which, she was able to simultaneously work with 7-8 factories as on today.
“The journey has been quite interesting”, says Tanvi. “There is always so much to learn & discover. The fact that it taught me to learn every aspect of the trade, be it registering on e-commerce platforms, listing, marketing, dispatching has been an enriching experience.”
