Editor’s Note
Women leaders embodying creativity and confidence to bring an acme of excellence in the entrepreneurial space If we ask people to define women entrepreneurship, what possibly could be the answer? Some would say it is about a female population venturing in various industrial verticals or others could say it is all about self-employability and financial independence among the women folks. But, being a woman myself, I cannot resonate with such interpretations effectively, as there is something more to this whole cultural shift. Different mythological beliefs have always symbolized a woman as the one who harnesses the power of creation. And how I perceive women entrepreneurship, it is about pushing your boundaries and create something unique and valuable. Of all the quotes, I have ever come across to this context, Oprah Winfrey’s famous statement speaks to me the most- “On my own, I will just create, and if it works, it works, and if it doesn’t, I’ll create something else. I don’t have any limitations on what I think I could do or be.” Today, many of the women leaders across the business landscape have acknowledged the creative and nurturing aspects of the feminine energy with which they are single-handedly reshaping the entrepreneurial world. Our latest edition celebrates the success of such alpha women entrepreneurs who with their incredible insights are adding value to the society alongside ensuring a perfect work-life balance. While penning down the editorial note for our upcoming edition- ‘Women Entrepreneur of the year 2020’, I was awe-struck by reading through their career excursions filled with roadblocks and how with such great finesse they overcame those speed-breakers effectively. This time, Business Connect Magazine takes pride in offering you an issue enriched with stories that will make you want to introspect and of course, innovate! This brand new edition is about to serve as a platform to promote the stories that testify the indomitable spirits of feminism power alongside unveiling prowess, empathy, decisiveness and exclusive leadership mantras of some phenomenal women magnates. Making a mark in the business world, these women have become an epitome of confidence, creativity and empowerment. The matchless entrepreneurial competencies of these female leaders have grabbed the sheer attention of our editorial team and thereby, we have decided to bring forth an exclusive edition highlighting the rising stars from the women entrepreneurial space. Passion is an aspect that can be one’s guiding light even in the darkest times of desperation. Sophie Moochhalla has been a woman of invincible spirits who resonates with the same belief and aspires to encourage women entrepreneurship in every possible way. Being the daughter of Dr Moochhalla, she is carrying forward the legacy of his brainchild- Fluid Controls. Ever since its incorporation, the company has been immensely focused on delivering end-to-end solutions in engineering- manufacturing space. Recognizing Sophie’s commendable business acumen and vigorous zeal to reach the pinnacle of incomparable success, our editorial board has decided to feature her story on the cover page in this special edition. At last, I would like to take this opportunity to thank all our readers, for they are the driving force that allows us to push our boundaries and come up with more sophisticated editions every time. I hope our Magazine keeps you serving as a gateway to the latest innovations while elevating your spirits with enthusing inspiration.

MS. SOPHIE MOOCHHALA Revolutionizing The Manufacturing Space With Exemplary Efforts Kajal Dobhal | Business Connect
“Follow your passion — and if you don’t know what it is, realize that one reason for your existence on earth is to find it.”
As Oprah Winfrey states it, passion is one of the driving forces that showers light on the aspiration of an entrepreneur. But when it comes to women entrepreneurship, several other factors come into play. The life of a woman entrepreneur is faced with challenges and uncertainties - both in the corporate world and personal life as well.Women very often have to manage both a home and work environment, and support for women entrepreneurs should begin from family. With time, society has emerged from orthodox norms, and support for women empowerment has increased. Over the years, our country has seen a significant number of woman leaders, whose efforts have been instrumental in inspiring women to join the business fraternity. But there are challenges that aspiring minds still face. The current ‘subsidies’ that exist for businesses run, by women entrepreneurs are hard to access and don’t really achieve their purpose. Ms. Sophie Moochhala, abusiness leader in the engineering manufacturing space believes instead of broad schemes, access to funding and prioritization for licenses and approvalsshould be offered to women entrepreneurs as it would go a long way in encouraging women to set up businesses.

AN ENTRPRENEURIAL WORK CULTURE
To build a successful organization, a committed team is essential, as is a team who believes in the core values of Integrity, Reliability and Innovation. Fluid Controls® maintains a culture of entrepreneurship where each member of the team functions relatively independently within broad parameters of expectations. The leadership team clearly establishes expectations and deliverables from each member and reviews individual performance yearly. Delegation of responsibility and an innovative approach to problems and opportunities are encouraged. Sophie’s leadership is focused on upholding the Fluid Controls®work culture. She believes in ‘Leading by example’ as it helps in battling challenges and builds confidence among everyone. She also believes that every business has cycles – and hard times are never forever! Instead of spontaneous reactions to unprecedented challenges, she strategically evaluates the needs required to address them. This approach has helped the company stand-up to uncertainties. During the pandemic, she and the leadership team took a decision to compensate the team as before, to equip them with proper infrastructure to work from home as required and to provide a safe environment to the team working in the manufacturing facility.
ENGAGEMENT WITH SOCIETY

The company offers multi-year support to three NGOs - Snehwan, Universe Simplified and UGAM, all of which work towards children and education. Third, they are aiming to grow global business, especially in the Middle East and Saudi Arabia.

LESSON FROM Kylie Jenner’s Success Story
Kylie Jenner has authoritatively become the most youthful individual to arrive at a very rich person status, there’s been no deficiency of individuals “getting down on her” about web-based life for her not exactly humble beginnings.
SS E C SUCor y St
We should make one thing clear as it so happens. That sort of conduct is terrible. At whatever point anybody makes any small amount of progress, there will consistently be twelve others disclosing to them that they don’t merit it.

18
WE SHOULD DO SOME MATH Kylie was worth roughly $5 million of every 2015 when she turned 18. In almost a long time from that point forward, her total assets have soared to $1 billion, making her the most youthful extremely rich person on the planet. That is a 19,900% percent expansion. That would resemble having $10k today and transforming it into $2 million by 2023. All right, so your next analysis is most likely that that Kylie originated from a rich family, that she had focal points that all of us could just dream about. On the off chance that that is the situation, for what reason isn’t each Kardashian/ Jenner worth $1 billion? The following top worker in the family is Kim, who is worth around $350 million, the path not exactly 50% of what Kylie’s worth in spite of being the impetus for Kardashian distinction. Kendall, the kin nearest the Kylie in age who teamed up with her on many brand bargains, is just worth $30 million. The most youthful individual from the family makes more than every one of her sisters consolidated. How Kylie become a very rich person? It was by a progression of savvy business choices that utilized developing patterns and advances to make her realm into what it is today. HOW KYLIE MADE HER MONEY The Kardashian faction made their presentation in 2007 with Keeping Up with the Kardashians. Aficionados of the show were in a split second enchanted by the family’s sumptuous way of life, delicious dramatization, and sweet family minutes. Kylie was 9 years of age when the show debuted, and in spite of the fact that she didn’t show up regularly in the show’s initial years, she fired taking up increasingly more of the spotlight as she became more established. By 2014, she was making a detailed $500,000 per scene. That is a great deal of cash, yet it’s not even close to $1 billion. That is the thing that her faultfinders neglect to recognize. Kylie didn’t simply show up on her family’s network program, working up dramatization swinging on
stripper shafts or absently looking on her telephone. She’s been hustling since she was an adolescent. At age 11, Kylie made 100,000 on an underwriting bargain for Kardashianthemed nail shines. From that point forward, she’s displayed and embraced endless brands like Puma and Topshop. She additionally worked together with top apparel brands to make their own style and magnificence assortment called “Kendall + Kylie.”
Also, perhaps that is the reason individuals are so threatened by Kylie’s prosperity. This is on the grounds that they understand that their own reasons are all B.S. You needn’t bother with a director or a PR individual to assist you with getting your foot in the entryway. It’s everything on you. In the event that you come up short, this is a direct result of something you did, not on the grounds that you didn’t have the chance.
Kylie’s endeavored to construct an after and a brand that most computerized advertisers can just dream about. She has direct access to more than 128 million individuals’ Instagram takes care of, and endless individuals set out to duplicate her tasteful decisions — from her body-cognizant design style to her out of control hair hues to even her broadly plumped lips. Her life is her image.
Does having a renowned family help? Correct. Is it essential for progress? Not under any condition. Your life is what you think about it. Presently, like never before, there is an open door for any individual who needs it to get their cut of the pie.
That is the eventual fate of expert life. Individual marking through online life is everything.
Thus, in case you’re one of those console warriors whimpering about Kylie’s “benefit” and never helping to promote your own prosperity, it’s an ideal opportunity to get genuine about what’s truly keeping you down.
In her meeting with Forbes, Kylie recognized the enormous job that online life has had in her prosperity. Social media life is a level playing field. Dislike the film or music industry where you have to have associations or sit tight for another person to give you a possibility. There’s no guardian revealing to you that you can’t pursue your opportunity at fame. Social media life has given every one of us a once in a blue moon opportunity to develop our own brands and show them to the world.

Of The Year-2020
Nandhini Priya N
.
A Unyeilding Persona With Unparalleled Qualities Indranil Roy | Business Connect “I don’t believe in failure. It is not a failure if you enjoyed the process”, Oprah Winfrey. The above statement undoubtedly explains the incredible zeal an entrepreneur carries to succeed. With the flow of time, the prominence of a woman in society has seen a paradigm shift. In the last decade, women have become more self-aware and have come out of their comfort zone to achieve feats that were deemed impossible. Nandhini Priya N. is one such woman, who stepped out of the conventional zone and created a prolific foundation that empowers women, especially homemakers to be strong self-sufficient. Nandhini was fundamentally driven by, the thirst to be a changemaker in the society. Whether it’s her profession as an advocate, repeated failures in cracking the Indian Civil Services or the struggle to get her products on the shelves, Nadhini has been “A force to reckon with”. Her robust motivation has always been a benefactor in turning challenges to opportunities. Her brainchild AEKA Herbal Cosmetics Pvt. Ltd. is an epitome of remarkable quality and is pioneering the national market with natural cosmetic products. INCEPTION STORY Brought under the spotlight in 2017, AEKA is an innovative business; floating on an online platform and is run by a team of women. As mentioned before, AEKA was established with Nandhini’s focus to bring transition in people’s lives. Nandhini endeavoured a stint of 10 years in cracking the Indian Civil Services examination; but, always faced a simultaneous failure. However, this stretch gave her extensive knowledge and experience to conceptualize a revolutionary platform.

Nandhini was very enlightened with the significance of selfcare & skincare. Being a potential buyer of cosmetic products, she introspected that skincare products were mostly chemical dumped and wasn’t able to procure satisfying results even for simple anomalies like pimples/acne. Adding to this, the few natural/herbal products available in the market are not very affordable; this is why AEKA came into the picture! By combining the goodness of nature and an urge to create something wholesome, Nadhini established AEKA Herbal Cosmetics Pvt. Ltd. FOR BUDDING ENTREPRENEURS
“Do Business On Paper First! Before starting any business, we need to plan every minute part as well. Try foreseeing problems that may arise and come up with a solution, accordingly. Also, try to find a good mentor and discuss your plan and take calculated risks if required. Furthermore, be aware of finances, accounting, people management, logistics, administration, etc. along with, product development. Above all, Don’t get demotivated by failures, treat them as lessons and don’t give up till the end”, concludes Nandhini.

girl. Education inspires me because without that power it would have been hardest for me to break the glass ceilings. YOUR THOUGHTS ON WOMEN’S PARTICIPATION IN THE ENTREPRENEURIAL WORLD: Women entrepreneurs have several qualities like perseverance, hard work, patience, optimism, intelligence, and are great at multitasking. Their success is attributed to their untiring hard work, perseverance, tenaciousness, determination, confidence in them, and most importantly, their compelling urge of wanting to do something positive in their lives. Of late, women have tried to break their mold. Also, there have been significant social, political, and economic changes that have created opportunities for women as well as given them greater acceptance and recognition in the corporate world
YOUR JOURNEY AS A WOMAN, AS AN ENTREPRENEUR: Five years back, when I lost a job that I loved, and couldn’t see myself working again for any other organization, my role as an entrepreneur started. Backed with learning from my prior experiences and achievements in education which were like a fire in my heart reminding me that I have a strong purpose that surpasses the reality of being an employee. So began a tough entrepreneurial voyage as I laid the foundation for my brand Ascribe Healthcare Solutions. I crafted a work culture based on my values and providing the best environment for success and excellence in my organization.
FEW CENTS TO READERS AND FUTURE ENTREPRENEURS: Be passionate and honest about doing the right things even in the most inopportune circumstances. A grateful heart receives bigger rewards. I am always thankful for every little opportunity and for my people who work in my company. An entrepreneur’s dream will always stay as a dream not reality without the efforts of the people who work for the organization. While I grow I ensure my people also grow along with me. Together we flourish.
YOUR INSPIRATION: My Dad Mr. Padmanabhan is my most inspirational person. He has supported me endlessly, believing in my dreams and cheering for me as they become a reality. I also found my inspiration not from the positives but the negative situations in my life. The hardships and failures inspired me to come out of those situations and make life better for me and others. People nowadays are so busy with moving in this fast-paced life that they hardly find time to cook. The easiest solution they end up with is to order food from restaurants that would satisfy their taste buds. But have you ever thought that you can cook your food by yourself according to your satisfaction? The consumption of food is safest and healthier when it is cooked at home. Yes! AVONTEC AUTOMATION A Story Of Perseverance Dr. Amit Mishra | Business Connect
THE ENTREPRENEURIAL JOURNEY
“Success and learning come from the worst experiences.” Carrying a legacy is as much of a challenge as creating one. Uma Nidmarty has taken that challenge head on, and has come through as an entrepreneur of tremendous merit. Uma came back from the US in 2016, as the CEO of Lectrotek Systems Pvt. Ltd., now known as Avontec Automation. She has transformed the outlook of her parents’ enterprise and is responsible for its introduction to the world of industrial Internet of Things and beyond. Uma’s diverse and cross-functional experience spans Strategy & Business Planning, Sales Transformation, Brand Marketing, New Product Innovation & Commercialization, Technology, Leadership Development, Program Execution, Industrial Automation, Startup Ecosystem & Portfolio Management, Manufacturing and Supply Chain Management. As an internal entrepreneur at organizations like PepsiCo, IncEMC2, Mercedes Benz and Altria Group (Formerly Philip Morris), Uma drove strategy and execution across large, international, multi-million-dollar projects aligned with organizational goals. As she took over the working of the company, Avontec saw an increase in its revenues by no less than 40%. She helped streamline the company’s products from 270 to 75, increasing production efficiency and profitability. It was in 2018 that the company changed its name from Lectrotek to “Avontec Automation”, to better reflect its capabilities. In addition to her current role as the Director at Avontec, Uma serves on the board of 5F World (A Ganesh Natarajan company) as well as HIIT80 Fitness, a unique tech fitness brand to hit the Indian market.
UMA NIDMARTY | Director
No entrepreneur can truthfully say that their journey of running an organization has been smooth. Like every entre-
preneur, Uma had to face obstacles in her path, too. Two years after she took the reins of Avontec in her hands, the company fell into a situation where under the influence of malicious outsiders, the partners moved money out of the company, engaged in activities without disclosure, demoralized employees, and disenfranchised the company’s supply chain. Never one to back down in the face of challenges, Uma turned this setback into an opportunity for learning, and began to work through it with the help of her brother. www.businessconnectindia.in | Vol. 3 | Special Edition December 2020 INDIA

Avontec has begun to overcome this hurdle already and is starting to see the successes it had reached prior to it. The greatest support amidst this have been the company’s ferociously loyal customers, employees and a supply chain that has supported it through the toughest of times. The team at Avontec has taken on the challenge to rise from the ashes and are already seeing the results of this unflinching dedication.
Uma says,
“
I wanted to highlight this experience because the life of an entrepreneur is fraught with peril, but also creates the highest learning. Anyone who has found themselves in a similar situation should know that most learning in life comes from negative experiences. And even when you are going through your worst times, you should know that, this too, shall pass.
“

A WOMAN’S JOURNEY
Women have been entrepreneurs alongside men since the dawn of time. It is only now that society and women themselves have started seeing them as such. Today, women have limitless opportunities to grow and prosper in most places. With the internet as omnipresent as it is, any woman can tell her story and if done well enough, can open doors further for herself and for other women. Uma hopes to see the heavily male-dominated start27
up industry of India make place for its women entrepreneurs, and would love to mentor any woman through the process. Her own experience as a woman entrepreneur has been distinguished. Entrepreneurship does not differentiate between men and women, it just grows with the person. Uma’s experience has been undoubtedly overwhelming, going through its own ups and downs in managing to find a work-life balance, but she has always found a way out. The key is to keep your eyes on the bigger picture and keep moving ahead. Good business practices, genuine interpersonal skills, and solid time management practices are qualities that can be embraced regardless of a person’s gender.
“When you can clearly communicate the WIIFY (What’s In It For You) to your customer, employee, supplier or family, the battle ceases to be one.” Having come from a family where women are recognized for their prowess and not for their gender, Uma has been fortunate to be at the receiving end of opportunities that contributed to her success. It is her commitment and hard work that helped her rise beyond people’s expectations.
LOOKING TO THE FUTURE
Avontec Automation has a fifty-year legacy to stand up to. In these five decades, the company manufactured over three hundred and fifty world-class products indigenously and was showered with innumerable accolades. With such a glorious past behind it, the future cannot be, but brighter. Avontec has ambitious plans for its growth and that of its people. They plan to scale exponentially, building collaborations with foreign establishments to manufacture machinery in India. Uma claims that just as the PMO has helped reduce corruption and red-tape in the processes of running MSMEs, if the government could enable real liquidity and credit for them, there is no stopping Avontec Automation and countless others like it in India. This year has turned over a new chapter in the history of Avontec, and in this changing outer landscape, the world is its oyster. www.businessconnectindia.in | Vol. 3 | Special Edition December 2020 INDIA

TOURISM
Trekkers Adapting to COVID-19 Norms, are Exploring New Tracks Trekking is a social sport, loved by wanderers. Just imagine yourself climbing up to the Himalayas. The satisfaction of reaching to the top and sitting on a cliff, enjoying the enormous surrounding from the top will take away, all your stress. The more realistic way would be to imagine yourself there with a hot cup of tea along with a bowl of Maggi in the chilly weather! Climbing through the Himalayas will assure an experience that can never be forgotten. The willpower to start and finish the trek is a motivation in itself. But trekking was forced to be at a halt for some time due to the Coronavirus pandemic that has taken the world by a storm.

The most difficult days faced by trekkers were the time of lockdown when they were forced to lock themselves down at home for a long period. It is extremely difficult for trekkers to live in four-cornered rooms, who are used to live in tents on the lap of nature. No air condition can provide the cool breeze that nature can give. A pure freshness of tropical forest is everything that a wanderer needs. The pandemic hit hard like a termite who ripped through the layers and made its presence felt. When the entire country was in lockdown, train journeys were on hold and trek routes were forbidden territories. When the lockdown was unfolding slowly, the paths for trekkers were gradually opening too but just like other guidelines, the trekkers also have to get adapted to the new COVID norms. It seems like after a long time, the trekkers are reconciled with their backpacks and jackets filled with dust. Three months back, when the coronavirus was calmly unfolding, a pastor and trekker from Mohali, Daniel Francis looked forward at the journeys to several Himalayan treks. He picked one to Bhrigu Lake, which is one of the well-known routes along Manali’s Himalayan trekking trail. “I plunged into action, as I enjoyed a trek to Hatu Peak. It’s easy if you can drive to Barog from Chandigarh and then take the next stop at Narkanda, which is the beginning of a seven-kilometer trail to the artistic Hatu temple,” shares Francis. Surrendering to nature is what trekkers love to do and by inhaling the much-needed dose of oxygen and embracing the world of nature with a walk on the wild side. A Chandigarh-based trekker, Jashan Chatwal states that whenever a trek in the Himalayas is planned, he not only looks forward to climbing, tent stays, make-shift bathrooms, or the delicious meat curries but also the break from all the noises that exist in the urban lives. “I have been exploring local urban hikes and forgotten parts of the city, discovering gorgeous dead ends and pretty houses around where I live,” says Chatwal.
“
“ Everyone wants to live on top of the mountain, but all
the happiness and growth occurs while you are climbing it.
– Andy Rooney
It is said that walking in nature is something where you can be lucky to witness a thousand miracles. A passionate hiker, Sheena Singh emphasizes the view, “You have to be super present and that’s what trekking is, it’s being in the moment. It’s not being somewhere else. It’s being in the right now. With COVID-19 numbers going up, I am concerned about the possibility that trails may close again which is why it’s sensible to follow the local guidelines and maintain a physical distance. That means, for instance, avoiding popular trails or peak times.” When one decides to do something, nothing can come in their way. Just like the world has resumed with the guidelines being followed, trekking has also resumed, adapting itself to new COVID norms. The most common challenges that can be faced when you are on trekking will be interacting and adjusting with locals, evening camaraderie, sharing stories with people around, and then the warm hugs. A lot might have been changed when you go for trekking next time but in the end, you will be mesmerized with the beauty of nature anyhow. The world might have changed but still, the sky will be the same as always.

ENTREPRENEUR
Of The Year-2020
AN EXTRAORDINARY ENTREPRENEUR
Meet Aditi Khanna, Co-Founder & Partner at FutureSkomp LLP. Sugandh Bahl | Business Connect
Aditi Khanna Co-Founder & Partner
Times are changing; advocates for equality are starting to fight more for gender balance in the workplace and toleration for sexism is reducing significantly. If you look at entrepreneurs around the world you may still find that there are overwhelmingly men. That’s because traditionally women have a significantly tougher ladder to climb than her counterpart to reach the top rung of their career. Over the years, mistaken gender stereotypes have implied that there’s only a certain level of success that women can achieve. The fixed mindset approach, lack of education, and similar other deep-rooted societal approaches have significantly impacted women from growing. But women in India, whether in farming communities or city centers, are taking steps toward becoming fully integrated and valued members of society. As a nation, we are witnessing a shift in their status, with more and more women working in the political, business, and social arenas. It is now common to see women working in business or as lawyers, journalists, even as entrepreneurs. When entering a male-dominated workplace, women are not worried about the theory that they will need to adapt their personality and characteristics or behave like a man to get recognition. Ms. Aditi Khanna, a partner at FutureSkomp is a true example of one such belief change. Coming from an upper-middle - service class family, having strong traditions and Indian values – growing up for Aditi was a blend of being open and conservative in the right contexts. She was an independent airline professional for over a decade and took a break at the right time to nurture her family. She gradually turned her innate strengths and learning to nurture a passion bringing forth three organizations – FutureSkomp LLP and its two suborganizations/platforms of Image Stilista and The Trainers’ Consortium.

Today through the umbrella company FutureSkomp LLP and its subsidiaries stated above, the team is extensively focusing on developing future relevant skills and competencies. “Given the future focus and business plans, this might quite be a company to watch out for.” Aditi believes “The opportunities and challenges today are pretty similar for all, at least in relatively mature cities. Rather it has been a positive push as women in most cases are naturally inclined to be able to take a larger set of people together which has been my biggest enabling factor. I think with the internet and scalability getting easier, the field is getting increasingly leveled if you have the passion and dedication.” As an organization, FutureSkomp has been designed to build industryrelevant capability and future skills, which may not get covered in an individual’s standard education and learning journey. Aditi says, “AI holds the future. Everything we saw in sci-fi movies just a couple of decades back is all turning to reality. The only way for humans to be relevant is to continue to build on the humane skills to upgrade and that is the fundamental motto of FutureSkomp – “Keeping You Relevant for Tomorrow” Currently, the company operates as a training organization to build early skills for students in schools and colleges, programs for corporates, and image management solutions The team has partnered with a leading start-up in the field of competency assessment on the back of psychometric assessment providing career guidance and competency assessment to students and working professionals. Additionally, they have also partnered with an education agency that enables admissions for universities across the US, Canada, UK, Larger Europe,
Australia, New Zealand. Thus, in the current form, the model is to assess skill levels, provide training to enhance capabilities, and further support functional capabilities by enabling functional education in global universities. The team is just on the move and plans to go big in the field of education for both the teacher and the learners. “It’s been an interesting journey with its fair share of ups and downs – but every moment has been a treasured gem, to say the least, either as a blessing or to learn from it,” says Aditi
a shift from quick in and quick out approach.” Here’s a short excerpt from a conversation with Ms. Aditi. Business perspective: I think there is enough and more of information all around – you just need to stay alert and keep a tab on both the traditional magazine and reading ways or being more tech adept by leveraging the right source of regular nuggets on your industry and the complementing ones as well
There’s a lot of unpredictability about how the working style will change. AI has begun to rapidly reshape the industry. One should develop the habit of learn-unlearn and relearn to stay in the race as most industries are likely to witness dramatic changes.
Role of R&D: R&D and innovation need to be in the fundamental design of the company. Given the pace of change, if you are not reinventing and bringing something differentiated all the time, you may just be out of the game way sooner than you can imagine.
“There is a degree of maturity that seems to be coming up,’’ believes Aditi about the changing business environment. There is a focus on the core, content, and value which is heartening to see. The focus on value and providing sustainable solutions seems to be picking pace which is
Employee Satisfaction: Having read a plethora of theories, I think it is only a sense of purpose and achievement that can keep someone truly engaged and productive. That is what we focus and will continue to do the same – every achievement is the team achievement
Role model: For me, someone like Indra Nooyi and Michelle Obama is someone who I continually look up to for the unique perspectives that they have created for themselves. Message to the readers: All I would say is being a woman itself is a symbol of strength and creator. Just remember that and go for that leap small of big, it’s your leap & it can only take you ahead. I have had my fair share of challenges and at times getting lost or written off, but just the sheer determination and thought to build your place is the only way to up your game and get to where you want 33

A TOKEN OF ADVICE FROM THE PHENOMENAL WOMEN DIGNITARY To all the women out there, here is a reminder ‘to be yourself’ in any scenario. As the world is transitioning for women, it is time toshed- the ideologies and restrictions that have acted as speed-breakers in the past. Women empowerment is a boulevard of support in terms of infrastructure and societal structure for women to achieve milestones that are of significance to them. The holistic development and progress of our country is a staggered and compromised effort without empowering our women and enforcing gender equality norms. The hope is for combined efforts to ensure an ecosystem to women where there is no fear of oppression, discrimination and exploitation. With regard to the Real-Estate Industry, the domain is thriving with opportunity; having the appetite for the whole gamut of professionals. I believe that hard work and enthusiasm is all the driving force you need; the industry is opening up to talent and ability without age old gender biases. Today the real estate industry is poised and ready for more women in key and leadership positions.
Amanda was instrumental in the organizational restructure the company under went, in line with the strategy of being a lean well-run organization. Currently she is involved in the end-to-end product development life cycle, right from land acquisition, concept & design and market strategies. Under her aegis, Provident Housing has emerged out as a premium affordable real-estate brand in India. Remising upon her initial entrepreneurial journey, Amanda elucidates, “As an individual, I like to push my boundaries when it comes to learning. My upbringing has included many dinner discussions about the business and opportunities. I have inherited my entrepreneurial ways from my passionate and visionary father; who is my mentor, continually helping me recognize my potential and prove myself.”
Amanda Puravankara (Director Provident Housing Limited)
Amanda’s personal efforts are focussed to expand the horizons of the organisation while maintaining its reputation as a gender-neutral organisation. She ensures equality without any gender-biases by proffering equal employment opportunities to talented individuals. To her, it is quite heartening to witness today’s women break all the stereotypes regarding the career prospects in the real estate industry. Gradually, women are rising to the senior leadership positions not just in real-estate industry but other male-dominated arenas as well and being influential by serving the organisations with their heart and soul. In this respect, Amanda conveys, “When you find the power within yourself to pursue your joy or passion; the courage to continue in that journey despite challenges; you are empowered. It is encouraging to witness the world reorient itself with regard to the empowerment of women.Though the road is long and arduous; I am enthused by our resolve. 39

MAXIMIZING MARKETING WITH QUINTESSTIAL Kriti Anand | Business Connect Entrepreneurship is a challenging endeavour. It does not differentiate between men and women. But women, typically, play multiple roles in life, where entrepreneurship adds to those roles. At the same time, women have to establish their credibility to people. For the Founder of Quintesstial Media and Marketing, this journey was made a little easier with the support of people around her who were positive and professional, and did not let gender biases interfere with their work relationships. In our society, we have a set mindset that only certain jobs are suitable for women and while women might be as ambitious as their male counterparts, they have to work harder to prove themselves. Farheen Shaikh, the Founder and Creative Director of Quintesstial Media and Marketing, has conquered these challenges and risen above them. She establishes that it is just as important to give credence to the fact that women, despite additional challenges, have been keeping up with the pace of the industry. Shifting the narrative from challenges women face, she intends to give
PARTING WORDS FROM FARHEEN SHAIKH, FOUNDER AND CREATIVE DIRECTOR:
“
Do what makes you happy, regardless of what others think, or the fear that might come from trying things out. Success is a long and continuous journey and may be measured in many ways (not just the monetary reward) so don’t loose your values in the process. If you have decided what you exactly want from yourself, then all the hurdles turn out to be the stepping stone towards success. You simply need to be confident and determined towards your goal and above all you must enjoy your work for only that can keep you going and bring out the best in you.

Opportunities are everywhere, there are no different or special doors for women.
them more credit for standing against the overwhelming opposition at every step of the entrepreneurial life cycle, from fighting cultural perceptions, juggling personal and professional responsibilities, to securing funding and leading their initiatives.
“All we need is a clear vision and a strong will to grab it,” states Farheen Shaikh. There are ups and downs but the joy of attempting something on your own is unparalleled. Each time you struggle and overcome a crisis, you will have beautiful memories to look back and celebrate. Challenges give Farheen reason to work harder than before.
These days the number of women entrepreneurs is increasing considerably. They tend to be more successful, too, because of their trusted status in the community. There is no doubt that there is always an initial struggle, with the majority of the high-level business world still being dominated by men. However, everything is possible, provided one has the determination to take on these challenges.
She says, “We learn from our own experiences in life and that becomes our ideology.” ABOUT QUINTESSTIAL
THE ENTREPRENEURIAL JOURNEY
Quintesstial Media & Marketing is a Digital Marketing Agency based in Pune. As a front-line digital marketing agency, it offers a wide range of services starting from website designing to social media marketing, brand development, graphic designing and much more.
Artists and designers are creative people who touch our hearts through their imagination and creativity which is why visually playing with colors came very natural to Farheen. Farheen’s journey towards entrepreneurship has been for her an amazing learning experience. It has, in many ways, shaped and defined her as a person. It demanded tremendous courage and perseverance. Her struggle as an entrepreneur has been as easy and as difficult as any other person’s. When achieving a dream of owning a startup regardless of gender bias, Farheen believes that the most difficult part is getting started.
Based on the client requirements and keeping up with the market’s pace, the company offers varied creative solutions like video magazines, brand campaigns, motion posters, and videos that have proved a great way for customer retention & engagement. Each of their engagements are tailored to suit every individual client’s needs and goals. Quintesstial believes in connecting with the clients, understanding their ideas and transforming their brand as they have imagined it to be. Every relationship the company builds with a client is markedly different. The company works as their digital marketing partner that only succeeds when they succeed.
While the gender biases never disturbed Farheen, she did face a few challenges while starting up the business. Within days after setting up her first office space and spending about a major part of her savings, she had to move out from the space overnight since the landlady was not happy with the office interiors. Left with a complete setup of office furniture and no space to move in immediately, she had to keep all her furniture in her building’s basement for over a month. In spite of this, she found herself lucky enough: work kept coming in and the ball started rolling once again. Thus, after forty five days, she shifted to a new premise.
Things have changed drastically post the pandemic, and most businesses have realized that the conventional way of marketing their product or services are not enough anymore. Because people are indoors and consuming information online, this is the right time to go all out with digital branding. In the current scenario, Digital Marketing is the ‘only’ most important thing for businesses to reach out to the right audience at the right time. With its clientspecific approach, Quintesstial is one of the most-suited and valuable digital marketing agencies in these times.
Farheen remarks that she has been fortunate to have worked with people who believed in her abilities irrespective of her gender. She believes that everything is possible regardless of a person’s gender, if one is ready to face the challenge:
QUINTESSTIAL’S MILESTONES Under the determined leadership of Farheen, Quintesstial has achieved several milestones in its journey so far. From being nominated for India 500 Startup Awards 2019 to being recognised as one of the most stylish leaders in business by Business View Magazine, the agency has established itself as a trusted and sophisticated digital partner in the industry. It has designed exclusive Magazine & Lookbook Design for celebrities and fashion brands, promotional campaigns for fashion brands in Dubai, London & Germany, editorials for international fashion magazines (London Fashion Week), and been a digital partner for films promotion, among a number of other marked successes.
“When you do something so deliberately & with conviction, you are bound to achieve it!” When a woman starts a business in our country, it is mostly taken as a hobby of hers. Here is the real struggle-in having to prove themselves to overcome this bias. According to the Founder of Quintesstial, women do not need any special status or attention. Working women are as capable and as normal as any other working person. Instead of bringing an agenda of helping women, entrepreneurship should be made ‘normal’ for everyone. For her, it has always been about making things ‘Gender Neutral’. A woman can work as efficiently as anyone else.

Education Has Put off Physical Classrooms and Shifted to Online Classes The best days were when schools and colleges were open and students were seen rushing to school in neat and tidy uniforms with bags in their shoulders and sometimes running with those heavy bags to not get late. After reaching school, to stand for morning prayers and then some physical activities, after that straight to the classrooms filled with our classmates. The same way for college, when students were always confused with what to wear today, what period to bunk and go to the canteen, etc. Those days now seem to be just a memory to cherish. An education center is the best public policy tool available to raise skills. While school/college time can be fun along with raising social skills and social awareness if we look from an economic point of view the primary point of being in school/college was that it helped in increasing a child’s ability. But the arrival of COVID-19 has led to the departure of students going to education centers. Well! we say a coin has its two sides, the same way this too has both good and bad impressions but let’s just go for a positive version because 2020 has brought us enough negative things. Whatever the condition comes, one should never stop learning, and if one way of going to an educational center is closed than open another way of e-learning. The arrival of Covid-19 has forced schools and universities across the world to put off physical classrooms and shifted to online classes. While the faculty deals with the new ways of managing this sudden transition to online education, students are left clinging on to their mobile phones and computer screens.
FUTURE EDUCATION SYSTEM
The new way of learning where courses are conducted online, examinations are conducted online, assignments are submitted through email. For India, this seems to be a good opportunity to strengthen internet connectivity across rural India. It will help every village and town to be digitally connected for the better interaction between the students and teachers. When it comes to the students some are quick at adapting this system and some take a little longer time to acquaint with this system. Fundamental structural changes should be made in the curriculum/syllabi and programs should be a part of the curriculum in engineering and science degree programs. This will help in creating future entrepreneurs and this can be one way to help beat unemployment and increase business skills amongst the youth. The business community should play a foremost role in this new educational system. Higher education in India needs to be more international but more locally connected and socially responsible, more flexible(curriculum), should be innovative and open for more collaboration. Innovative models should be introduced, Universities/institutes could be online that would provide internet-based flexible offerings. The Post Covid-19 is an opportunity we look forward to transforming the higher education system. Institutes/Universities should definitely utilize this opportunity to transform itself. the focus should be more on internationalizing higher education as today we are facing Covid-19 but no one knows what lies ahead in the future for millions of youngsters.
