01 Can Limon Boutique Hotel Professional Work Alchemy Design Studio Year: 2021 Location: Ein Sokhna, Red Sea - Egypt Phase: Design Development Project Area: 5,800 m2 Project Timeframe: 18 weeks
Along with one of the most leading developers in Egypt, we were able to come up with a concept for a 25 rooms boutique hotel in the Red Sea in a private compoud that sells serviced apartments as well. We were aiming for a minimal architecture and chic raw interiors. I was in charge of the whole design process of the hotel- the plans, the architecture and the interior. We mainly wanted the user to be able to define the different spaces from the architecture. Therefore, every room had a different alignment, the walls shifted, the main vertical circulation of each building was outdoors which resulted in having intersting masses. The attention to details gave the project character; the tiling, the greenery and the furniture were selected very precisely to enhance the users ‘ experience throughout the whole project.

02 Rixos Magawish Hotel Professional Work Alchemy Design Studio Year: 2020 Location: Magawish, Hurghada - Egypt Phase: Design Development Project Area: 83,500 m2 Project Timeframe: 20 weeks
As a team of 3, we were asked to design a family hotel with a specific number of rooms following very specific standrads. I was in charge of the main building plans and architecture, the back of house specifications in coordination with the operator and some of the hotel rooms as well as the landscape.

03 Costa Mares Restaurant Professional Work Alchemy Design Studio Year: 2019 Location: Costa Mares, Red Sea - Egypt Phase: Schematic Design Project Area: 1,100 m2 Project Timeframe: 2 weeks
One of the biggest developers in Egypt, Travco was in charge of a new resort by the sea. The brief was to resdesign the all day dining restaurant to make it more attractive and more suitable to the context.

04 G Town Mixed Use Strip Professional Work Alchemy Design Studio Year: 2019 Location: New Giza, 6th of October City - Egypt Phase: Schematic Design Project Area: 35,000 m2 Project Timeframe: 4 weeks
As a design team, we were asked to design a mixed-use strip in one of Egypt’s most renowned new cities. The brief was to mix between office spaces, retail shops, residential units and F&B outlets. In one commercial strip, we unified materials and each architect designed a building accommodating to the client’s wishes. The architecture was a mix between industrial language softened by some modern elements. As for the landscape, it was meant to break the regularity of the buildings to make the space more approachable and familiar to the users.

As a design team, we were asked to design an office buildings strip with an engaging landscape that connects all the buildings. I was in charge of the landscape and one of the buidlings that was repeated 4 times throughout the whole strip. I worked on the plans and the 3d visuals of the project. The real challenge was designing the landscape to solve the height difference between the steps, around 3m each, to create functional accommodating and inviting public spaces for the users to enjoy as well.

06 Beit El Zakat Office Building Professional Work Assaf Consultancy Year: 2018 Location: Salah Salem, Cairo - Egypt Phase: Schematic Design Project Area: 4,500 m2 Project Timeframe: 3 weeks
Beit El- Zakat, a religious institute that wanted a new administrative office building in the city center. The brief focused on their need for a modern design that reflects their beliefs and tranditions, a building that is sustainable while showing their true essence. My role in this project was to generate a form that translates their beliefs and traditions. I worked on the design concept and the 3d studies and the elevations. The office won second place.

What is El Zakat? And what is the main role of Beit El Zakat? I started breaking down the actual meaning of the word as well as what this institution symbolizes and then I was able to translate everything along with their role and main functions of the building into geometric forms and shapes to get an adequate form generation. Zakat is one of the pillars of Islamic Law, which is based on the distribution of muslims’ money to 8 different parties. Beit El Zakat is the medium between the giver and the receiver. I have symbolized the idea through 2 separate blocks linking them to a central component: the core which represents the link of this relationship. When this initiative is carried out, the institution transfers the user from a tight narrow space to a big open space overlooking a garden that gives a feeling of comfort. In order to emphasize on the idea of the eight parties that receive Zakat, eight arches were designed at the main entrance. Also, the main eleation‘s curve symbolizes the building’s embrace of the people.

07 Dar El Sallam Civic Center Bachelor Degree Thesis Project The American University in Cairo Year: 2017 Location: Dar El Salam, Cairo - Egypt Project Area: 21,000 m2 Project Timeframe: 14 weeks
The project intends to work as a mediator between the Civic centers and the people. It aims to empower people to voice their demands as well as to prepare the government to listen, accept and work with its people to make a change. The main purpose of this building is to represent the lost role of the civic centers and the striving role of the community service centers. In other words, the project is supposed to enable the local youth of the community and define their role as community builders by the creation of a new civic platform through an architecture that shows the complexity of the relationship between the citizens and their government.

The design process’ kick start was a series of collages focusing on the details of the look and feel of each space (or stage) that the different stakeholders of the project have to go through focusing on the nature of activity in each space. First: Main Entrance Elevation Highlighting the entrance along with the slanted wall. There is a lot of traffic in this area because this is also the main entrance leading to the Symposium, the first stage where the government and citizens share a common ground to have an open discussion. Second: The People’ s Elevation Al-Qahwa, the main attraction where a familiar setting is designed to act as a meeting space.
First: Section A-A The Casual meeting room is surrounded by timber and is visually connected to the working space. The Symposium is an underground space because hypothetically, both parties should find a new common ground and meet to discuss important topics. Second: Section B-B There is a connection between the Symposium and the office of the government for easy access. Whereas the other space shows the intimate discussion spaces in Al-Qahwa where people gather to talk more privately in a familiar setting.

First: Echo Perspective Section E - E Echo is a common stage between both stakeholders where the citizen enters as an actor from Al-Qahwa and becomes a viewer when he goes through the exhibition and reaches the final stage at the end of the corridor. On the other hand, the government representative enters from Al-Qahwa while self reflecting on his position. In this stage, the architecture is set in place to enhance the whole experience- for example, having the noise reflectors in the ceiling. The section also shows the connection with the ground floor where the stakeholders can listen to discussions taking place in the seminars and workshops while visually seeing the Main Auditorium where the last stage: Voicing/Listening to demands takes place. 08 Mixed Use Development Urban Design Studio The American University in Cairo Year: 2015 Location: El Dahab Island, Cairo - Egypt Project Area: 162,000 m2 Project Timeframe: 6 weeks
The aim of the project was to design a mixed-use urban city that acts as a connecting point to the surrounding lands due to its strategic location in the city center. The design is following a grid that is imposed by the ring road that acts as the main access to the island. The pixalization effect guides the whole design by having different units with different expansions in all dimensions combined together to create the pixel-like city. The project intends to create an open public space in the middle of the nile with different access points emphasizing the importance of the land with its inward and outward views.
