HELLO THERE!
it's so great to meet you!
Hello there! I'm Brittany K. of GlamConn.com. I’m an entrepreneur, model, fashion/beauty influencer and content creator based in New Jersey. . A little over six years ago I started a magazine as a way to connect all of my friends that were creatives with other creatives and their potential clients. During the process of putting a magazine together and learning how to put a team together I grew overwhelmed, frustrated and to be transparent I became discouraged completely. Those things coupled with the fact that like most creatives I struggled with consistency. I gave up. Fast forward to now, plain and simple, I was naturally forced by God and the internet's algorithm confusion to relaunch so here we are. Introducing GlamConn's The Look Book. It is an extension of my social platforms but packaged in a high quality lifestyle magazine. It is created to be a platform for not just creatives but also creatives who are brands or who own a business and need to find and connect with real people who are your target demographic all while expressing your creativity. It’s me trying out a new way of networking across and getting your work and content presented in the best way possible. So here’s to starting over and committing to consistency. Come on this journey with me and friends. I promise it'll be a RIOT!

Lets tap in with the title: KALEIDOSCOPE DREAMS. From the screen shot of the definition above, let's highlight and focus on the "an everchanging sequence of colors or events.” part. If 2020 & 2021 taught most of anything, it taught us that life is NOTHING BUT an ever changing sequence of events. I believe if we keep our overall vision / dream in our minds and hearts, no matter how life turns and changes the colors on us we wont get knocked off our path to the goal. Most importantly we have to be prepared, PLAN and see the vision CLEARLY in order to do that.

Broken To Restore: A Road to Recovery WITH JUSTICE WILLIAMS |
@WOMENINPOWER____
WHAT IS THE OVERALL TAKE AWAY FROM YOUR BOOK? There are a few overall. These three things, HEALING, THE JOURNEY AND EMPOWERMENT. All in which I embody and had to undergo myself. Real recognize real, now let’s heal….together!
WHAT MADE YOU WRITE THIS BOOK? This book was written because God told me to write it. I know not many people believe in religion or even the church for that matter but I am one of the few who still believes in the advancement of the kingdom first and God's bride second (The church). So with that being said it was prophesied to me to write the book two years ago. I sat with it and toiled back and forth with God about it because at the time it was spoken I didn’t believe in “telling my business”. The perception of people (hence how my family would feel and others who added to my story would feel) kept me at a standstill with finishing what I started. The truth is the prophetic word that was even spoken to me about writing the book was just confirmation to what I already started, which was in fact the book.

Wheewww chileeee, the process itself was like I mentioned before, a long two years! I started questioning if I had the capability of even writing a book. My book started out with a whole different title, which was DEAR BLACK WOMAN, but the title just wasn't sticking with me. Then one night as I’m watching one of my favorite medical shows (Chicago Med) I kept hearing the words in my head “Broken to Restore” as I typed out the rest of the title I realized that this was indeed the title because it’s my story in its entirety.

What was the writing process like for you? How long did it take?
Do you want {THIS} book to stand on its own, or are you trying to build a body of work with connections between your future books?
How many hours a day do you write? Wheewww girl, you’re trying to expose me tuuuhhhdayyy! Just kidding. On average it depends if I have the drive and the motivation to write for hours so on a good day I can write consecutively for 4-6 hours without any breaks in between unless I'm drinking water or something. Any other day minimum is about 2-3 hours.
You know, this is a good question because there are many things I long to achieve, some things I can't discuss other things I can, such as wanting to create short films, limited series, movies and plays. Everyone is struggling with something, whether its from their past or present you’re dealing with some type of weight that’s too heavy for you to carry and this is why I love God so much because He’ll step in and lighten the load if we let Him.

If you had to do something differently as a child or teenager to become a better writer as an adult, what would you do? I would for sure say building consistency! That was and still is one of my biggest struggles even until this very day.
@WOMENINPOWER____
What does literary success look like to you? Success to me looks like being wealthy naturally and spiritually because whatever you do for Christ will last!

THE FAIRY BRAND MOTHER
"I'm no stranger to doing whatever it takes to ensure that they are equipped and empowered to give their audiences and clients their best." -Corrinn Shishimba
My Name is Corrinn Chishimba and I'm what one could call a Creative Concierge. I truly have a versatile wheelhouse of skills that enable me to identify the problems and needs of a brand and/or individual as it pertains to visibility, strategy, growth and awareness, and provide a solution leveraging words, wardrobe styling and a bit of whimsy. In layman's terms, I'm a Brand Strategist with a knack for elevating aesthetics, experience and impressions. That's not really layman's terms, but most have had to experience it firsthand to truly understand! However, my clients describe me as a fairy brand mother, I'm no stranger to doing whatever it takes to
ensure that they are equipped and empowered to give their audiences and clients their best. I work really hard to make sure that their story is heard, seen, and felt through the art we create via photoshoots, narrative building, content and digital marketing, events and so much more. While I've always been creative and whimsical, being raised by my Grandma, who was an advocate for education, structure and follow-through, I rely heavily on lists (both tangible and mental) and planning to ensure that my vision is clear and ready for execution.

Why is it important to create a vision board for yourself and/or for your brand? "And then the Lord Answered Me: "Write the vision; make it plain on tablets, so that he may run who reads it" Habakkuk 2:2. Without vision, the people will perish. These passages are very frequent throughout the Bible for numerous reasons. A vision board serves as a map for your goals and aspirations. It provides an initial inspiration for all that you'd hope your life and brand to be. Oftentimes, we are lost on how to move forward in life and business because we haven't done the planning to determine our interests, desires, or impact we like to have. A vision board is a visual outline of what you'd like to prioritize and accomplish. Having this can truly give you a consistent view at what you are working towards. Being an entrepreneur isn't for the faint of heart, a vision board can remind you of why you started, reignite your passions and help you to remain objective in your decision making when you know exactly what you are working towards. A vision board for both personal and professional endeavors can serve as an aesthetically appealing list of to do's for your year.
41
How far should a vision board extend out to? 1 yr? 5yr? End goal? A vision board can extend as far as the creator would like. I often create a vision board every 3 years. This way, I give myself grace when I haven't achieved something on it when a year comes to an end. Additionally, our vision boards should align with our purpose, so they should be more representative of a journey versus an end goal. As far as a brand's vision board, I believe a yearly vision board broken down into 4 quarters is a great opportunity to get really specific about goals. Splitting your brand's goals into Q1-Q4 can help you curate a strategy for each quarter that will help you more easily bring those things that you desire for your brand to fruition.
What are some key features to have on your vision board? Vision boards should speak to the total of you whether personal or for your brand. Putting an emphasis on finances, health, lifestyle, spirituality, community, love and tangible things are all great options. A vision board is a manifestation tool. So whatever you desire that you are willing to work towards, should be on your vision board. If you want to get specific with your vision board for your brand, add things like stores you may want to see your products sold, or the screen grab of someone else's $1m Shopify year etc. When you complete it, you should place your vision board in a frame and give it a place to reside so that you can see it often and remind yourself of your WHY. Creating a vision board is not just a fun activity to do with drinks and friends, in an intentional investment into finding clarity for what you desire, what you'd like to evolve into and where you'd like to see your business go.
Why is it important to plan or be prepared? Planning is an elite skill. It truly allows you to forecast as many scenarios as possible for the best outcome. Planning and preparation is what sets apart the winners from the losers. And let's be clear, when we don't plan, we do LOSE a lot; we lose a lot of time, money, opportunities, and access. Leveraging tools and systems that help you predict what you'll need to do to get to the next level and implementing them when the time comes is like having a cheat code. As a brand strategist, I tell my clients that clarity and comprehensive action planning makes a large project feel smaller, but it also allows you to maximize every opportunity you encounter. Setting your intentions, establishing your goals and then planning what you'll need to do to achieve them is very similar to building a building with a blueprint. Building without one is dangerous. I work one on one with clients to create a strategy/plan for their brands from inception to implementation. While these sessions can be time intensive, the outcome is always excellent ( for those who trust the process) because they have a clear and concise plan for their brand. Planning helps us not fumble around in the dark.
What are some of the most important lessons you’ve learned on this journey? Some plans don't work, and when they don't it's an excellent opportunity for a fresh start and fresh perspective. We don't know everything and can't be everything to our business. Building a community of people who you trust to help you both personally and professionally is how you get the things accomplished on your vision board more expeditiously. I've also learned that time doesn't owe us anything. Some people's journey to achieving the plan is shorter, while others' are longer. What matters most is your dedication to the journey just as much as the outcome. Sometimes we get so focused on the $1m that we forget to celebrate the $1K or even the $100. And finally, success leaves clues. Don't reinvent the wheel, there are others who have taken the same path you're now on, don't be ashamed to reach out to them and leverage their experiences for your growth and knowledge gain. Community over competition will get you so much further so much faster.
42
What issues/habits should new or struggling brands prevent? What can they do to switch those mistakes/habits? The number one thing that I see in this social media age is brands who are so focused on "looking" perfect that they forget the customer experience. Instead of investing $100's of dollars on graphics etc.; when you first get started, invest in systems that streamline and automate the customer experience. Services like virtual assistants, or social media managers - truly help you engage in a timely manner, will make your customer feel important and heard. New and established brands have a responsibility to ensure that they are providing relatable, informative content for their audiences. The number one goal of the content that you make should be to demonstrate what solutions your product or services provide to the audience problems. When we partner with brand owners for content days, we create a strategy for each service and product based on the solution it provides and determine how that can best be communicated through visuals. Curated with intention, your social media will offer free marketing for your products and services.
Do you have any events coming up? How can we register or get tickets? On January 22, 2022 in Philadelphia Pa, I will be hosting PROFITABILITEA, an Intention Setting Workshop and Tea Party. It's aligned with establishing new goals for you and your brand in the new year. We will be creating vision boards, enjoying brunch and learning new wealth, wardrobe and wellness insights for establishing and achieving our goals both professionally and personally. Limited Tickets can be purchased here: bit.ly/PROFITABILITEA We truly hope that you will join us.
