Frostival
January 13 – February 24, 2024
Frostival is all about cold being cool. Throughout the six weeks of winter fun, you can expect classic outdoor activities like cross-country skiing and snowshoeing and North of Normal fun like cardboard sled races, snow sculpture competitions, and so much more.
Grab your mittens and join us outdoors.
YOUTH POND HOCKEY DAY
Embrace the cold of winter by enjoying a day of hockey played where it all started, outside! Cheer on youth hockey teams as they play in a three-game jamboree structured tournament. Don’t forget to warm up in the warming tent with cozy drinks and snacks at Lindenwood Park.
WINTER WARM UP AT THE ROURKE
Get cozy at the art museum. Fill up on cocoa after browsing the handmade mug market, shop for winter accessories from local fiber artists, and gather round the fire pits in the M. Dorian Clemedtson Memorial Sculpture Court. Help keep our neighbors warm with the hat and mitten drive before browsing their vast art collection.
CANDLELIGHT TRAIL WALK
Arrive at night and ski, hike, or snowshoe through the trails while checking out the stars and heading through Mary’s Light Tunnel. 50 thousand string lights once used in Downtown Fargo are now a 60-foot canopy of bright lights showing winter’s beauty as you make your way through.
HOW FROSTIVAL CAME TO BE
Although winter can be long and cold, the truth is, if you’re able to go outdoors and celebrate with the community for at least part of it, it won’t be so bad after all. Frostival began as a two-day event in January, but recently expanded to a 6-week-long celebration starting in mid-January and running through February with events hosted by all three park districts (Fargo, Moorhead, and West Fargo), as well as the Downtown Community Partnership, Moorhead Business Association, and many more partners.
