Special Events Rockin’ Around Owatonna is Back!
Explore your Owatonna Parks and you might just find an inspirational treasure! Owatonna elementary school students are helping us kick off this project. Head out to your Owatonna parks this May, and you might be lucky enough to find one of their works of art – a rock creatively painted or with an inspirational message. If you find a painted rock you would like to keep, feel free to do so; however, you must replace it with a work of art of your own. Here’s how the project works:
Create and leave a rock in a park:
Decorate a rock with an inspirational message or design and place your rock in an Owatonna park.
Take a rock, leave a rock:
If you find a painted rock in a park that you like, feel free to keep it but just be sure to replace that rock with one you’ve painted. Please be sure not to place rocks in areas where park maintenance crews will be mowing.
Share your rock:
Take a photo of a rock you’ve found or one that you’ve painted and share it on social media, using the hashtag #RockinAroundOwatonna.
39th Annual Corky’s Early Bird Softball Tournament May 3, 4, 5, 6

Brooktree is Offering Online Tee Times in 2018! Season Pass holders, Punch Card users and those paying daily green fees will be able to reserve tee times online. Whether you’re a single or golfing with one to three others, you have this option to find your tee time on your computer, tablet or smart phone. And yes, you can still call us too. Not only is it more convenient to make a tee time, it’s also easier for us to communicate with you. For example, if we have a storm roll through and we need to have carts on the path only, we can e-mail everyone with a tee time the rest of the day. We will also be better able to monitor pace of play and adjust tee times accordingly, giving golfers more tee time options. We are excited for this new technology, please be patient as our staff learns this new system.
A great golf destination to play, relax & enjoy! 1369 Cherry Street (507) 444-2467 Jesse Wilker, Park Director – jesse.wilker@ci.owatonna.mn.us Mary Jo Knudson, Clubhouse Manager – maryjo.knudson@ci.owatonna. mn.us Wes Miller, Greenskeeper Lead – wes.miller@ci.owatonna.mn.us One of the finest municipal golf courses in southern Minnesota, the 18-hole, 6684 yard championship course is located in NE Owatonna near the entrance of Mineral Springs Park. The course is welcoming to players of all ages, yet still provides plenty of risk-reward opportunities for seasoned golfers. Brooktree is a member of the USGA and MGA. Brooktree was voted the Best Golf Course in Southern Minnesota the last three years by SCENE Magazine readers.
The course is generally open from April – October, as weather permits. Clubhouse and Pro Shop hours listed here are general guidelines and change based on daylight, weather, league and tournament play. Hours are posted monthly at the clubhouse. May 8:00a.m. – 9:00p.m. June, July & August 6:30a.m. – 9:30p.m. September 8:00a.m. – 8:00p.m. October 9:00a.m. – 7:00p.m.
The way you check in will change slightly. No more bar codes needed! It will still be important for golfers to check in at the turn and when they’re finished so we can fully use the tools this software has.

Season Passes
In 2018, we have restructured our membership guidelines giving you more options for passes, based on when you golf. As part of the restructuring and budgeting process, a market analysis was completed. Brooktree had the lowest membership rates of all regional competitive courses in a 50-mile radius. After rate adjustments, we still land in the bottom third of the regional market. We are proud to have one of the best courses at an affordable rate. When choosing your 2018 membership, be sure to pay attention to the “age as of ” date. All previous pass holders who turned 55 in 2017 are grandfathered in to the new senior category. To maintain ‘grandfathered status’ for more than one year, golfers must not let their membership lapse from year to year. All season passes include a reciprocal card for area courses. NEW! courses added this year: Faribault Country Club, Meadow Greens in Austin and Waseca Lakeside Club. Returning courses include: Green Lea in Albert Lea, Dodge Country Club in Dodge Center, The Oaks in Hayfield and Riverview in New Richland.

Community members can use the site as a way to familiarize themselves with organizations and needs in the community. When they are ready to sign up for a shift or let the organization know of their interest, they will be asked to create a volunteer profile with some basic information that will allow organizations to confirm the details of their participation and provide them with any other important information they will need before they arrive. The website is mobile friendly and allows volunteers to schedule and change shifts from their phone or computer, print off volunteer resumes with their documented volunteer hours and discover new local volunteer opportunities that match their interests and skills. Opportunities currently listed online include engagement opportunities for various Steele County non-profits. Users can go to the website to respond to these needs.
