REFERENCES “ Fariza spent 2 months as an intern with GAD Architecture in Istanbul. During this period she has been successfully working mainly on concept design projects and as office coordination assistant. Her positive attitude, curiosity and enthusiasm made her a valuable team member and a pleasant person to work with. She is disciplined, respectful of the rules and hardworking. I suggest you to take advantage of working with Fariza.” Martina La Vista Architect, MSc, GAD Architecture Assistant Vice President, GAD Foundation “ We had the pleasure to work with Fariza for one year and 2 months and during that period I could see her blossom from a newcomer - university student, into an equal position holder among the other senior architects in my company. I am glad I had the opportunity to be part of her mentoring at the beginning of her career. For start, I had her teamed up with another architect on an on-going project of an international seaport in Turkmenbashi. I could see they were making a good team in solving problems on the project by working in tandem. I always appreciated her talent as well as her ability to stay focused and meet the deadlines.” Esin Tercan Architect, Norm Architects Founder and Principal, Norm Architects

The Development of Turkmenbashi International Seaport This is the first project I have started with - my proffesional career. I had a chance to immerse into the details of construction and design of Turkmenbashi International Seaport. I joined to the team at the middle of the project’s second year. Currently, it is under construction. It is a state-of-art seaport facility with various types of terminals and promote all related logistics, traffic and trade activities at the Turkmenbashi port area. The new seaport at the Caspian sea is becoming an important junction for a new state-of-art traffic infrastructure within the region to boost the economic cooperation between Asia and Europe. The scope of work covers planning, design and construction of all architectural and building works and services necessary to complete the Works. This includes the provision of all design services, labor, material, equipment, temporary works, transport to and from and in or about the site and everything whether of a temporary or permanent nature required in and for the design, construction and completion of the building works. The general architectural design concept shall take account of appearance and visual impact of individual buildings and structures within the overall development whilst ensuring a durable, economic and functional arrangement.

Oasis Residences Cairo state: concept Assignmnets: assisting in masterplan and concept design Oasis Residential Compound is a 300 000 m2 residential neighbourhood project in the new development area of 6th October, Cairo, Egypt. The entire project masterplan is based on the idea of permeability, for the enjoyment and feeling of community for the residents. Apartment blocks face semi-private courtyards, and then connect to larger green spaces. The central “oasis park is immediately visible from the main enterance, and acts as a shared space for the residents and their community. It is the key identity of OASIS, providing many benefits for its users. And residents can enjoy natural surroundings, public facilities within the central park, such as cafes, retail, prayes spaces, recreational facilities.

MASTERPLAN

Bufferzones

Initial residential blocks

There are two external buffer zones to the east and south of the project. The other two bufferzones are inside the plot boundary, and provide a green buffer to the adjacent industrial park.

The residential blocks are located each with access to tertiary access roads, in a linear layout primarily facing north and south aspects.

Circulation

Developed residential blocks

The main access to the site is via the existing Polaris Parks office HQ entrance, located centrally to the project. The secondary access is to the north east corner, and is also for emergency vehicle access. These two access points connect to a ring road around the boundary of the residential components. Finally there are linear tertiary roads that connect to each residential block and also to the commercial space at the site entrance.

The residential blocks are developed to maximise green space between them, and the amount of northern facing aspect.

Green oasis

North orientation

The residential blocks are divided and moved to allow the insertion of a long green park in the centre of the site. This park is connected to all green spaces that exist between residential blocks.

The residential blocks are then modified further to offer variation of the masterplan with private courtyards, plus further adjustment to increase the amount of northern light aspect. Green network and blocks design The facades of each residential block is developed and articulated to provide variety and visual interest for the development and of the streetscape. Further development of the green park is completed, with community buildings added.
