Tom Clark is the General Manager of Brit Stops, and has more than seven years of experience operating the scheme. Tom and his parents started Brit Stops as a small family business and passion project and have grown Brit Stops into an established and recognised brand within the motorhome industry. Tom is focused on driving innovation and expansion at Brit Stops and supporting the next chapter of UK motorhome tourism.

Helen Davies works as the Business Development Manager at Canopy & Stars, the UK’s leading glamping booking agent. Her role is to find amazing new places and provide support and recommendations to new owners based on market trends. Chris Delaney PManaging Director Green Building Renewables Chris has recently joined Bidwells after a decade of building the Energy department within GSC Grays. He has spent his career working in the energy industry identifying, promoting, and developing projects for landowners and developers alike. His enthusiasm for new technologies and being at the cutting edge of new opportunities for his clients, provides knowledge and insight across all renewables including wind, solar and battery projects to bespoke technologies including hydrogen, anaerobic digestion, micro nuclear, synchronous condensers and solar powered EV charging.

Chris Delaney is Managing Director of Green Building Renewables, which was launched in 2021. His renewables’ legacy reaches back further. He co-founded Go Eco Renewables in 2016 in York with Green Building Renewables Group Technical Manager John Gilham.

Charlie has spent the last 10 years in the forestry and arboriculture sector across the UK and internationally with a focus on new woodland creation planting and forest management. After studying forestry and arboriculture at college Charlie enjoyed many years working practically in forestry and arboriculture before taking up a graduate forest management position in Scotland where he worked in all aspects of forest management across one of the largest timber producing regions in the country. With a renewed focus on new woodland planting from the government he helped plan and deliver multiple woodland planting projects across the region. Charlie is focusing on helping landowners deliver their new woodland planting objectives.

Ellen Fake is the Senior Land Manager for the South West team at Environment Bank. This includes working from the onboarding of land for delivery of Biodiversity Net Gain, to negotiating commercial agreements to co-creating Habitat Banks with landowners in the South West region.

Tom joined Stemy Energy to lead their commercial and industrial business in the UK. From a farming background himself, he has years of experience of agricultural processes and is in a unique position to advise farms and businesses on how they can consume and produce energy more flexibly and efficiently. From fruit and vegetable producers to dairy and cereals, he has worked with a wide variety of farms and businesses across the UK to help them reduce both energy costs and carbon emissions.

Andy Elley Head of Commercial Mortgage For Business Andy specialises in commercial investment and holiday let mortgages. He has a long-standing client base, predominantly in the commercial investment and owner-occupier mortgage sectors, but also looks after many investors in the leisure and retail space. Andy and the commercial team have championed the niche market of holiday lets, working with lenders to offer more innovative products in this area for the benefit of their clients.

Alistair Fell Iron & Pine Alistair is an experienced leader within the development, energy and construction sectors. He couples a passion for making projects happen with the ability to identify opportunities and maximise value for clients. As a co-founder of Iron & Pine, a luxury modular construction company and Director of Prospus Group, a multidisciplinary property, architecture and energy consultancy he is involved in delivering a diverse range of projects for clients across the UK within the agricultural and commercial property sectors.

Torsten Gabrielsson PR Manager Tentipi Event Tents Torsten Gabrielsson has been Tentipi’s PR Manager for nine years. Based at the company’s Head Office in central Sweden, the core of his work is interacting and engaging with people, whether it’s sharing customer journeys or managing communications. Coming from a small town in the deep forest of Sweden, his understanding of authentic experiences in the serene wilderness has helped accentuate the Nordic roots of Tentipi and the originality of its Scandinavian design and innovation.

Mark Jagger has worked in the pigs sector for over 35 years, nearly 30 of those being with BQP. He started as a finishing fields person and understands the difficulties of day to day pig farming. His role now is to help and aid new partners into the pig sector with BQP and developing future developments within the company.

Simon co-founded Navigate to help tourism and travel businesses enhance their digital marketing and attract wider audiences locally and internationally. With 30+ years of operational experience in the industry, he’s led strategic marketing on both client and agency sides. Simon is one the most experienced marketing leaders in the sector, having worked with hundreds of brands to increase revenue, grow audiences and build brands. He uses his vast industry knowledge and client experience to allow Navigate to deliver the best for its clients.

Olivia is a journalist and editor and joined Farmers Guardian’s London team in 2011. Olivia became editor of Farmers Guardian in March, 2023. She is also a director of the Guild of Agricultural Journalists which promotes training and careers for journalists and PR professionals working in agriculture.

Hannah Jones British Dog Fields Hannah James set-up & operated one of the most successful secure dog fields in the UK and has spent the last three years helping farmers and landowners do the same. She knows all the mistakes to avoid and how to design fields for success. Having studied at Newcastle University’s Agricultural Department, with 20 years marketing experience, and first-hand experience of two challenging rescue dogs, she brings a variety of tools to her consultancy business, making her one of the leading authorities in this niche.

All new business ventures need careful thought to fully understand the opportunities, challenges and risks, and many current enterprises will be impacted by changes in regulations. The seminars at the CLA stand will provide independent and impartial updates on important market insights, understanding regulatory realities, and point to sources of funding and grants, to help you make the right decisions. The CLA focuses on supporting rural businesses and our experts are well placed to help you. Market insights Rural tourism is a popular option for many farm businesses. There has been strong demand in recent years, but what are the prospects for the future? We hear a lot about new markets for environmental projects such as biodiversity net gain or carbon credits, as well as government schemes, so we take a look at the breadth of environmental funding and what to consider. Overcoming business constraints At the top of the list when considering a new enterprise is securing enough labour with the right skills which is a continuing problem. We will present some options for addressing this. A more under-rated constraint is water supply security. Water is essential for all businesses, but it is easy to overlook the impact of climate change, so we look at the options to build water resilience.

Regulatory changes Keeping on top of regulatory changes is never easy, but that is what we do at the CLA, helping to ensure CLA members are not disadvantaged and keeping members up to date with changes. This year, we will have a deep dive into the implication of changes to residential lettings and in the planning system to help you prepare for and meet the new requirements. Grants and funding We will look at funding and grant opportunities in most of the sessions but there will also be a seminar specifically looking at the options for woodland creation. Tree planting is often cited as the solution for climate change and biodiversity, so the seminar will explore the important question of how it fits into your business and how the economics work.

Kathryn Mitchell The Lambing Shed The Lambing Shed Farm Shop & Kitchen was opened in September 2015 by Kathryn and her father Michael, it is housed in the very building where Kathryn’s grandfather lambed his sheep many years ago. The farm remains a working farm today with Michael and his son Robert rearing both cattle and sheep, supplying the farm shop butchery with home reared meat.
