Scottish Land & Estates boosts senior team

Scottish Land & Estates, which represents land-based businesses across Scotland, has today announced a signi cant strengthening of its senior management team as the organisation engages in an ‘unprecedented’ range of legislative issues.

Two new appointments have been made at executive director level with the promotions of Stephen Young

(left) to director of policy and Tony Stevenson to director of operations.

Stephen will drive all areas of policy development and member advice, and Tony will play a key role in all commercial aspects of the organisation. Both will support and report to Sarah-Jane Laing, chief executive o cer.

Ian Ashton retires from Collings Brothers

Parts manager Ian Ashton, of Collings Brothers of Abbotsley, has recently retired following 50 years of service. Mr Ashton last featured in the pages of

Farmers Guide in May 1998 as he celebrated 25 years of service with the company.

Commenting on his time with Collings, he said: “It was a long and rewarding time working for the company and it doesn’t seem like 50 years. I will miss my colleagues

The Agricultural Mortgage Corporation (AMC) has boosted its provision for rural businesses in the south of England with the creation of a new specialist support role, following a period of strong loan applications across the region.

Amey Green has been appointed to support AMC’s network of regional agricultural managers (RAMs) and joins a team of nine RAMs and over 280 land agents that provide nancial expertise, funding, and guidance to around 4,000 farming businesses across the South of England.

She steps into the new role, which is e ective immediately, having previously worked for Lloyds Bank’s commercial nance team since 2013. Amey worked closely with agricultural and landbased businesses, providing asset nance loans to help them invest in new farming machinery and equipment. and all the people I have had the privilege of meeting, especially through the trade.”

Amey will now work alongside AMC’s team of RAMs and independent land agents who carry out the business’ loan application and valuation work across the region. Her new remit will cover a signi cant geographical region for the AMC spanning the width of the south of England including the South West, South East, South Wales, and the South Midlands.

Mr Ashton says he now intends to spend more time travelling, following motorsport and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He was joined by his wife Kathy at a reception held in his honour at Collings Brothers of Abbotsley, attended by the directors, staff and former colleagues.
