festival of crafts programme
Sat 12 & Sun 13 October 2024
A celebration of contemporary makers & designers from across the UK at our annual festival of crafts.
Hello and welcome to the 28th year of festival of crafts. Since its launch in 1996, the festival has established itself as one of the UK’s leading independent craft fairs. The annual two-day event is a celebration of contemporary craft in all its forms. Our curated marketplace features over 90 talented makers and designers, so make sure you take time to talk to them and learn about the skilled craftmanship that goes into their work.
For those inspired to try a craft and make something for themselves, we offer expert-led bookable taster workshops, free participatory activities including The Big Draw, and the chance to see maker demonstrations all taking place throughout the festival.
We are delighted to be collaborating with Farnham’s New Ashgate Gallery by offering the New Ashgate Award to one lucky festival of crafts exhibitor. The award recognises the outstanding work of one maker with the winner offered an exciting opportunity to display their work at the gallery.
Farnham is now in its fifth year as England’s first World Craft Town and the Maltings is just one of the many supporters of October Craft Month, an exciting monthlong celebration of local craft. Visit farnhamcrafttown.com to see the many events taking place or pick up a brochure from our Box Office.
Don’t forget to follow us on Instagram @farnhammaltingscraft to keep up to date with all our craft news.
Enjoy!
Jo, Caroline, Madeleine and Eloise The Craft Team
Farnham was granted World Craft Town status in June 2020 by the World Craft Council following a successful application by Farnham Maltings and Farnham Town Council. The award is in recognition of the special role that craft plays in our community. Every October we hold a month long celebration of craft.
Please check in at the Box Office in the foyer 15 minutes before your workshop. All workshops require advance booking, please check availability.

This annual award is selected by our World Craft Town partners the New Ashgate Gallery. One lucky maker at festival of crafts is chosen to be the recipient of the New Ashgate Gallery Award.
The winner is invited to exhibit at the gallery the following year during October Craft Month.
There are over 90 exhibitors spread across seven rooms throughout the whole building, so take time to explore and make sure you don’t miss anything.
Each item is handmade by the maker selling them and is not available on the high street. Enjoy meeting and buying directly from the maker and learn about the craftsmanship involved in making their collections.
