welcome Hello, and welcome to our 24th festival of crafts. 2020 has been a strange year so far, one in which we’ve taken comfort in our creativity and making, just as our participating exhibitors have. Whether you’re a loyal regular or first time visitor we’re thrilled to welcome you to Farnham Maltings’ longest-running craft event. We like to think of our festival as the jewel in the crown that is Farnham Craft Month and hope that you’ve had a chance to enjoy many of the activities on offer throughout our town this October. This year we have even more to celebrate with Farnham’s new designation as a World Craft City by the World Crafts Council that was granted this past June. While our numbers are smaller this year due to social distancing we’re delighted that the festival continues to be a mix of emerging talent and established artisans showcasing a wide range of homewares, jewellery, textiles, ceramics, leatherwork, glass and more. Our one-way system around the building is designed to make sure you don’t miss any of the rooms filled with makers. Take time to explore and learn the craft stories from over 50 passionate creatives. Make the most of your visit with our bookable workshops – your chance to learn new skills and enhance your own creativity. You’ll also want to look up in the Great Hall and see the finished result of our ‘Stitching Together’ project with textile artist Alice Kettle – on display for the first time. The festival is a wonderful opportunity to get started on your Christmas shopping and find items that are truly unique and will be treasured for years to come. We hope you have an inspiring visit and look forward to welcoming you back to the Maltings again soon. Allison, Caroline & Jo The Craft Team

festival of crafts extras Stitching Together with Alice Kettle Revealed for the first time since the project began during lockdown. The project celebrates the Maltings’ contribution to the shape and character of the town. Drawings from local school children are interpreted in over 100 individually stitched squares that cover seven panels in a backdrop that represents Farnham and the surrounding area. Look up in the Great Hall to see the finished piece!

The Big Draw with FADEG This year the Big Draw is encouraging everyone to draw at home and respond to the theme ‘Climate of Change’. Collect one of the Big Draw’s kits with a graphite stick, chalk and animal images and share your drawing on Instagram with the hashtag #bigdrawfarnham2020.
