thread... a festival of textiles exhibitor listing Sat 12 & Sun 13 June 2021 A celebration of all things textiles, from sewing to macramé, printing to embroidery and weaving.

welcome Hello sewists and fabric lovers! Have you been inspired watching the latest series of The Great British Sewing Bee? Or just continuing to cultivate your sewing and stitching skills post lockdown? Or perhaps you’re looking to top up your stash after a Me-Made-May? Whatever your reason for coming, we are delighted to welcome you back to the maltings for our ninth annual thread…a festival of textiles. This year, thread’s curated marketplace is spread out across the building for your socially distanced comfort and enjoyment. All your favourite fabric shops, stitching vendors, yarn purveyors, haberdashers and makers are here. A one-way system is in operation to keep you safe and make sure you don’t miss a single room of the festival. Face coverings are required unless you hold an exemption. Please do make use of the hand sanitising stations located in every room. We hope you have a fantastic visit! Caroline, Allison and Jo The Craft Team

booked on to a workshop? When you arrive for your workshop, please head to the the Information Desk in the foyer. You will be accompanied to your workshop approx. 10 mins ahead of the start time.

workshop: Macramé Wall Hanging

Time: Sat 9am – 11.30am £45 includes entry to the festival Have you ever wanted to learn how to make a macramé wall hanging? Modern macramé is one of the most popular crafts at the moment. This workshop is ideal for beginners.

Stitching Together - Alice Kettle This project is a collaboration between Farnham Maltings and British textile artist Alice Kettle. It celebrates our organisation’s contribution to the shape and character of the town. Drawings from local school children are interpreted in over 100 individual squares that have been hand stitched by local community groups. They cover seven panels in a backdrop that represents Farnham and the surrounding area.

workshop: Botanical bundle dyed scarf

Time: Sat 2pm – 4.30pm £45 includes entry to the festival Enjoy the magic of creating with nature through direct application of roots, seeds, flowers & food waste onto cloth using a bundle and steaming process. Learn about fast and fugitive dyes and a few ways to fold and apply your chosen plant materials to create a beautiful watercolour effect silk scarf.

Stitching Together is part of the Future Arts Centres’ Here and Now Project celebrating 25years of the National Lottery. On display in the Long Kiln Gallery.
