How to Write SEO Friendly Blog Post Titles and Drive Targeted Traffic to Your Blog By Giovanni Farotto Article Word Count: 499 Since the latest modifications in most of the search engines, the title of a web page has become one of the main elements to set properly in order to get the search engine rankings you're searching for. I remember listening an interview where Joe Vitale told he spent more time choosing the title than writing the body of the post. In fact, one of the most important things to take care of on a blog post is choosing a good title: Your title should be catchy, should get users' attention, because it is the first thing they will see on the page. This requires a minimum of fantasy and humor. At the same time, it should be in accord with the body copy: if it is misleading, then you can be losing valuable readers as well. In other words, it should contain the main keywords of the body. Here is where you have to be creative: mixing keywords (substance and matter) with "catchiness" (verve and humor) to craft a good short masterpiece in order to grab targeted attention from readers and search engines at the same time. If you think seriously about it, it's a hard work to do and it takes time, but it can lead to a huge amount of traffic. In order to do this, I suggest you to: - Identify the subject of your post, meaning the problem you're addressing with it. For instance, you are writing an article about how to get your teeth white and you are addressing it to smokers. - Search for the keywords connected with this problem You can do a search on the Google Keyword External Tool to identify the good keywords to target, meaning the ones having a good compromise between the amount of searches and the competitiveness (the so called "low hanging fruits" by the SEO experts). In the case study, the keyword "teeth whitening" would be a bad choice, because it has a high search volume, but a high competitiveness too. A good choice would be mixing it with the "smoke" modifier. So, a title like "How to find the best teeth whitening" would probably get lost in the search engines sea. On the other hand, something like "3 teeth whitening solutions for smokers" would be way much targeted to the right audience and to the search engines as well. Ok, this is just a short example, but I think it is enough to make you aware of the problem and of the ways you should follow to solve it. Furthermore, this is something you would better do yourself rather than outsource: You can hire a ghostwriter to get your posts done, if you think you're not so good at writing, but the title choice is so important in the log term traffic strategy of your blog that you should keep a close eye on it.
