Waves I love the water, it soothes me. I go for a surf every morning before getting ready for University. “Hey Sam!” I yelled. Sam is my best friend and she is such an amazing girl, all A’s student, finished her degree last year and now a full-time doctor. “Hey Ryan!” She yelled back. We were riding ( on our bikes ) towards each other down main street, my stomach aching for food. She sped right past me, giving me the peace sign, yeah, that’s something she would do. Then she fell over, “Ha!” I screamed. “RYAN!!!!” She screamed in laughter, throwing her empty milkshake at me. She got up from the path and walked her bike over to me, I stopped. “I hate you!!” She yelled, punching me on the shoulder. “Ow!!” “Ha!” I laughed. “SAM!!!!” We both said, laughing. “Surf?” We ran up to the shoreline, pushing each other over. We jumped into the of infinite happiness, where everything seemed like nothing. We bobbed on the waves, sitting up on our surfboards. Then Sam caught a big, curling wave, and started to ride it, then she fell off her board, not coming back up. “Sam, very funny! You can come up now.” She did not come up, “Sam, SAM!” I put my head into the water, and couldn't see her, then my board flipped and I fell into the water, that's when everything went black..

I woke up, my breath shaky. Sam shaking me, crying. “Where are we Ryan?” “I don’t know.” “Well we better find out, cause this place is weird and I want to go back home.” She said, still crying. I jumped up, off the floor, starting to hug her. She cried into my shoulder, it getting damper and damper. “We better get out of here and try to get back home.” “Yeah.” We walked out of the room and eventually, the building. Everything was the exact same as Truce Bay, but the sky was water ,rippling. There was no one around and it seemed like it had been that way for a while. We ran out into the road and ran to my home. The door was unlocked, and we walked straight in. There was blood on the walls saying; “Go home, before it gets you.” Sam and I walked into the living room, disturbed by what the message said. “Hello Ryan.” Said a voice.

“What the?” I whispered, turning around. It was a girl with blond hair, wearing ripped and ragged clothes, she had clearly been here for a long time. “I’m Felicity.” “I’m- well you know my name, and this is Sam.” “ You need to follow me.” “ Why should we do that?” “ Yes, well I’ve been here for 13 years. The water brings in two drowners every year, my partner died 9 years ago.” “Drowners?” “Yeah, the people who love the water. My partner was killed by it, look out for him. He kills everyone in his path.” “ Did you put the message on the wall?” “ No, that was my partner. As he was left to die here, he wrote the message with his blood to warn any drowners.” “ And the water in the sky?” “ You came here through Truce Bay beach, right?” We both nodded. “You came in through the water, so that water is the way out.” “ So why haven't you left already?” “ I’ve dedicated myself to help other drowners get out of here, I have no family in the real world, so it doesn't really matter.”

We left Felicity in the house, we wanted to get out of this place as soon as possible. We needed something that would bring is up high enough so that we could get out. We walked to the tip, hoping to find something. “Hey, Sam will these do?” After finding hardly anything, I picked up two big fans. “YEAH!” She screamed. We walked out of the tip, heading to the house. Hoping Felicity would be able to power the fans. “Felicity, we found something!” I said, overjoyed. “Cool. Need help starting them up?” “Uh, yeah.” “I’ve got masses of electricity stored up in my generator. I found one that worked in the tip.” “Is that tip like heaven, or what?” I said, laughing. “Yeah, it is pretty good. So you want to get the power into those things?” We both nodded. The whirring of the generator made me more and more eager to get home. Once the fans started spinning we knew we were ready to go. “That little jump start should be enough for you to get up to the surface.” Felicity reassured us. “Well, you know, thanks for the help and everything.” “ That's all good.” “Well, see ya.” “Bye.” “Bye.” Sam and I said.

“Sam, you all good back there?” “Yep.” I was so nice and peaceful, flying through the sky, only meters away from home. “Ryan! He- it, has grabbed me!” “ Oh my god.” I muttered, trying to think of something to do. The massive black silhouette, almost identical to a shadow, was pulling Sam down, towards his, giant, gaping mouth. I flew down to the bottom of the monster, trying to lift it up towards the sky. “Ryan, help!” “I’M TRYING!!!” I flew up to the giant arm that Sam was in, the monster still falling. I tried to use my fan to cut the giant arm, only to ricochet off the spongy skin. After that, in such simplicity. The monster took her into his mouth, swallowing her in one, tiny gulp. “NOOOOO!!!!” I screamed. “SHE WAS SO CLOSE!” That’s when I hit the water, everything going black. I woke up, to the feeling of grainy sand, itching on my body. People were swarming all over me, discussing things I didn’t understand. I was home, I knew it. Waves take me places. The water, it doesn't just soothe me, it moves me.
