New York Fashion Week
As fashion week moved to London straight from New York the political trend followed with designers continuing to showcase statements in support of the Trump trend. London Fashion Week also highlighted a closer trend that is happening in the UK of BREXIT and how BREXIT may affect UK designers. With bold shimmering slogan T’s going down the catwalk once again they were more focused on self-loving slogans.
New York fashion AW17 was slightly disrupted by the political trend of Donald Trump recently becoming president for the United States of America. Trump has actioned orders that a lot of people do not agree with. It seems NYFW was the platform for designers to make statements against the decisions that trump has made.
The Row used social media as a form to showcase their support by uploading an image from there catwalk collection which had very minimal detailing of the words ‘hope’ stitched onto
Although the image above does not include any slogans on the garments it shows the model wearing a Mexican fighting mask to show the support against Trumps decisions.

Designer PoliticalTrends
A number of big designers have used political inspired clothing in their catwalks at the AW17 fashion week collections. Some of the designers include Jonathan Simkhai who focused his finale wave on political clothing in New York fashion week, Tome who attended the Women’s March in Washington also sent models down the runway of their show in New York wearing slogan T-shirts. Public School also focused on political topics on the accessories being used in their catwalk show.
Street PoliticalTrends
Political trends are trickling down from the catwalks onto our streets and this is being seen much more since the Donald Trump campaigns. Generation Z are leading this trend by wearing political inspired clothing to make a statement and posting images of this all over social media (as seen on the image above).

Celebrities often like to use their status to promote a debate that they believe in. When campaigns are happening people will often use celebrities to promote it as it gets across to their fan following a lot quicker this is a marketing technique so that people feel they have a connection with the celebrity. A good way of doing this is buying getting the celebrity to wear an item of clothing with a image or slogan on to a public effect where they will be photographed.
