Whilst looking at this trend it is easy to see that this trend came first from the general public and bubbled its way up to the catwalks. The fact that people wear this as casual everyday wear and as evening wear shows the fexibility of such a garment. The Jumpsuit is a recuring trend partly due to the flexibilty and practicality of this garment is. That is why it started with the general public and then ended on the cat walks.

Over the last couple of years there have been lots of developments on the point of gender. Today there are many genders and there is a big emphasis on gender fluidity. This as had a massive impact on fashion over the last few years, whilst alot of clothing has remained distinctive as to which gendre they belong to, there has been more clothing that has become less distinct toward which gendre the clothing is aimed at. As more and more barriers are broken in this area, as it becomes more apperent in fashion with more and more androgynous models being scouted for their talents on being able to portait one sex or both sexes at the same time, there has been an emphasis on gender fluid clothing. (ref 2, 3) The jumpsuit can appeal to this area of androgony as it combines both top and bottoms. As such it can be designed to both genders.
