We are Fashion Revolution. We are designers, academics, writers, business leaders, policymakers, brands, retailers, marketers, producers, makers, workers, trade unions and fashion lovers. We are the industry and we are the public. We are world citizens. We are you.

What’s wrong with the fashion industry? We love clothes and we love wearing them. But the clothes we wear go on a long journey before they reach us. They are made from nature, like trees in the forest and wool from sheep. Our clothes are made by many human hands, and sometimes the people who make them don’t earn enough money or work in safe and fair conditions. That’s why we need to use our voices to tell fashion brands to protect the natural world and respect the makers of our clothes. Make a poster for your window In 2020, people went into lockdowns around the world and used the windows of their homes to share messages of inspiration and support for their neighbourhoods along with messages of awareness and activism. This Fashion Revolution Week, we are encouraging students to use their windows and their creativity to spread the message that our clothes matter, and so do the people who made them. Introduce your students to Fashion Revolution through the introductory presentations (see previous pages of this guide) and then have the students illustrate a picture or phrase to respond to the campaign and invite their communities to join the Fashion Revolution! Posters can be displayed in windows at home or in the corridors and classrooms at school. Some ideas: • Create an illustration or make a collage from old fashion magazines that inspires people to think differently about the clothes they wear and buy. • Illustrate a quote or statistic about the fashion industry. • Write and illustrate your own slogan about your dream for the fashion industry. You can find inspiration in our manifesto.
