Fashion Revolution is a global movement with a collective vision for a fashion industry that conserves and restores the environment and values people over growth and profit. Fashion Revolution Week is our annual campaign bringing together the world’s largest fashion activism movement for seven days of action surrounding the anniversary of the Rana Plaza factory collapse on 24th April 2013.

MONEY FASHION POWER The mainstream fashion industry is built upon the exploitation of labour and natural resources. Wealth and power are concentrated in the hands of a few, and growth and profit are rewarded above all else. Big brands and retailers produce too much too fast, and manipulate us into a toxic cycle of overconsumption. Meanwhile, the majority of people that make our clothes are not paid enough to meet their basic needs, and already feel the impacts of the climate crisis - which the fashion industry fuels. As global citizens, we all have the power to take action. This Fashion Revolution Week, join us in reimagining a just and equitable fashion system for people and the planet. Now is the time to rise up together for a regenerative, restorative and revolutionary new fashion system. Now is the time for a Fashion Revolution.

We believe transparency is the first step to transform the industry. We need a shift in the relationships between brands and suppliers, so that the rights of people and the rights of nature hold more of the power wherever decisions are being made. We can bring about this change by first demanding transparency from brands and retailers, encouraging fashion businesses to disclose information about their purchasing practices and offer the public a view into their social and environmental impacts. In our annual Fashion Transparency Index, we review and rank the biggest global fashion and apparel brands and retailers according to how much information they disclose about their suppliers, supply chain policies and practices, and social and environmental impact. We publish the results so brands can be held accountable, which we believe will lead to real change.

Take action on living wages Wearing good clothes means the people who made them receive fair pay for their work. But right now, the majority of textile and garment workers cannot afford to live in decent housing, eat healthy food or go to the doctor. They even struggle to send their kids to school. A living wage is not a luxury, it is a fundamental human right. There is no sustainable fashion without fair pay. So this Fashion Revolution Week, we want you to disclose whether you’re paying living wages to the people in your supply chain, and uspport our calls for laws that protect the human right to fair pay.

Respond to #WhoMadeMyClothes? During Fashion Revolution Week, thousands of Fashion Revolutionaries ask brands questions like #WhoMadeMyClothes? #WhatsInMyClothes? and #WhoMadeMyFabric? If your brand is tagged in these posts on social media or you receive DMs, comments and emails, it’s important to respond with as much detail as you can. Transparency is a crucial tool for change.

Share photographs of the people who make your clothes with your customers around the world. Take a photo of your producers (makers, sewers, farmers, weavers, pattern cutters, artisans, etc) and share it on social media (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc). You can download and print an ‘I Made Your Clothes’ or ‘I Made Your Fabric’ poster to hold for your Fashion Revolution photo. You’ll also find posters saying ‘I made your bag/belt/hat/jewellery/ scarf/shoes’.

Lead the way: Pay a living wage In nearly every country where clothes, textiles and shoes are manufactured, workers are not paid enough to afford their basic needs. These workers are predominantly mostly women who make up 80% of the workforce. Brands and retailers have the responsibility to use credible benchmarks for the regions they source from to ensure the people who make their products are paid a living wage.

Support collective bargaining and freedom of association within your supply chain. If there are no legal requirements for minimum or living wage within your producing country/ies, make it known to all producers that you support collective bargaining and freedom of association within your supply chains. @fash_rev

This ask aims to start a conversation about the chemicals and materials used in our clothes. Host an event Hosting an event is a great way to engage with your customers in a unique and personal way, whether online or in-person. You can use the opportunity to showcase practices you are proud of and that show your commitment to bettering the system, while also taking in feedback. Read our How To: Host an Event guide for some in-depth info on hosting physical and virtual events or see a list of ideas below.

Make a film A great way to show that you’re proud and passionate about transparency in your supply chain is to create a film showing us exactly that - your supply chain. You could follow the journey of one item, from raw material to finished product. Or make a factory, farm or mill visit and interview some of the people who make clothes for your brand.
