The Brooklin Community Center and Library is a community center with a library and gym in Whitby, Canada. As the name suggests, the main function of this building is as a community center, which includes a youth and senior centre, for the people of the city of Whitby, both young and old. With a variety of facilities and activities, this community center can accommodate the interests and talents of teenagers and become a place to socialize to develop social and cultural values in the youth themselves. Public
The wider the room, the more public the nature of the room as in a gymnasium. Likewise, if the area of the room is getting smaller, the nature of the room is more private, such as in the dressing room.
The building uses a formal/symmetrical balance that can be seen from the looks and plans. The choice of shape in the building and the use of line elements are able to create balance.
Circulation
Plan to Section
The wide span structure is in the form of a bulk active system, namely a portal frame with a steel frame reinforced with a scissor truss.
Unit to Whole Using seperate units because of the dominance of rectangular shapes with different dimensions and separated by corridors.

Sirkulasi antar ruang
The approach to the building is no direct or oblique. The circulation is a linear path following the layout of the space. The circulation between the masses uses the corridor as a liaison. Humans are free to move throughout the area by pedestrians
Geometry
Rectangular floor plans arranged perpendicularly irregular and have undergone additive and subtractive. The floor plan and looks have a solid platonic shape, namely a rectangle and a triangle
Repetition to Unique
There are additional blocks in mass 2 for additional public space and many subtractives that separate each mass and then shape it.
The section of the building follow the shape of the floor plan where the room is shaped rectangular.
Tangga (sirkulasi vertikal)
The building uses the Unique Added to Repetition pattern, marked by the repetition of the shape in the form of laying glass in the form of a rectangular stack.
Natural light
The walls are dominated with glass material for lighting needs. The shape of the building is elongated with a courtyard in the middle of the three masses so that the lighting is maximized.

The south and west sides of the site are undeveloped land, so the wind can enter the site without obstacles.
Rainy season:
In the rainy season, the site has the potential to be flooded due to overflowing water on the river border on the east side of the site.
201-500 mm
The highest noise comes from busy vehicle activity on the highway on the east side of the site.

Using a 40x40 cm grid steel column with a span of 6 m. Between columns there is bracing on several sides to withstand lateral loads.
Lower Structrure The foundation applied is a 2 m deep pit foundation with a concrete pile cap.
2nd Floor Plan (Mass 2)
The east and west sides of the mass have a more massive wall, with natural stone cladding and a more massive secondary skin to protect the building from excessive sunlight.
