Artist Statement: “I pursue shapes and colors. My semi abstract, expressionist portraits tell a story of whimsical spontaneity. Based on an underpainting, my art begins to emerge as color and texture are added layer by layer. The landscapes pull the viewer into a world of color, light, and emotion. My body of work has developed and evolved over time, with much of the outcome being driven by creative impulses.”

About Kelly: Originally from Tennessee, Kelly Fischer has lived in Switzerland for the past thirty years. She maintains strong connections in both countries, spending equal time at her studios in Bern, Memphis, and Weehawken, NJ studios. Her paintings have been featured in numerous galleries and exhibitions, including Art Basel Miami, the Austrian Biennale, and the Venice Biennale. Aside from creating art, Kelly has published eleven children's books and is the former founder and principal of the English Montessori School of Bern.

Kelly’s work is the mirror image of the artist that creates it. Each brush stroke translates her zest for life onto the canvas. At her worldwide exhibits, her welcoming smile and down to earth friendly approach attracts the public as much as her mesmerizing art. A keen observer, she files away all the wonderful things she sees during her travels; returning to her New York, Tennessee, and Switzerland studios with the renewed energy that gives birth to her ever expanding body of work. While her collectors eagerly wait for the opportunity to add other artworks to their collections.

Art Daily News is thrilled to have the opportunity to share an intimate look into this amazing artist’s studios; the place where the magic we admire is conceived and developed.

Memphis, TN Studio

8
9 “I
truly feel you are only successful when you make it come true where it all began. Tennessee is where it all began for me.

I was born in Nashville, and at the tender age of six during Saturday art lessons I realized I not only enjoyed making art, but other people enjoyed collecting art.

Even though I am originally from Nashville I have called Memphis home since eight. One can consider themselves lucky to be around the energy and artistic vibe that is generated at a fast pace in this soulful, vibrant city.

10
11
“The artwork that I create in my Memphis studio is colorful, energetic, and deeply rooted in natural energy that flows throughout the community.”

The luxury of being able to create in three amazing studios New York, Memphis and Switzerland is something I relish daily. They are equally important in my artistic journey. But Memphis clearly stands out as the studio where I am truly at ease and in my element. No rules just a sense of freedom to create.”

12

New York Studio

13

"Finally finding myself in the NYC area is the culmination of a long awaited dream. The energy and vibrancy of the city speak directly to my emotions, which translate onto the canvas.

14
15
“I chose Weehawken, NJ for my new studio's location because it provides the perfect quiet, meditative ambiance, and the opportunity to be an arm's length over the Hudson River and into electric, stimulating Manhattan.”
16 “I found perfection!”
17
“Maintaining my three studios in Bern, Switzerland, Memphis, Tennessee, and Weehawken, NJ can sometimes feel overwhelming, but being fortunate to have this opportunity is certainly not lost on me."

Switzerland Studio

18
19
“Snowcapped mountains, pristine rivers and lakes are wonders one finds in abundance in Switzerland.”
20 “
The structure of the cities and the people themselves are very rule oriented. There are not many grey areas to pursue out of the box ideas.
21
”This has an enormous impact on my artwork. Being that I am an individual who loves to bend and break the norm and rules in the art world.”
22 “The
artwork that I create in my Swiss studio is much more structured.
23 “I
tend to have a lot of repetitive brushstrokes in my work; adding mindfulness and hyper focusing is an attribute that I can credit to my Swiss surroundings.”
