Five Steps to a

Face Flawless

6

STEP

1 Prep and Prime

Cleansing and moisturising your skin preps it for achieving the best results. Follow skin preparation with Mary Kay® Foundation Primer Sunscreen SPF 15 to help reduce the appearance of fine lines and imperfections, as well as to extend your foundation wear.

STEP

2 Foundation

Next, even out your complexion with foundation or CC cream. Pick your perfect formula and shade.

STEP

3 Perfect

Use the facial highlighting pen to optically “lift” away shadows, and concealer for covering imperfections.

STEP

4 Finish

Set your look with powder, add a touch of radiance with cheek colour, and then keep makeup looking fresh with a makeup finishing spray. Not all steps are necessary to finish a gorgeous look, but when combined, they create a long-lasting effect for maintaining the best results.

STEP

5 Bronze and Highlight

Your flawless face is complete, but you can still add dimensional effects if you want to. Add a sun-kissed look with Mary Kay® Bronzing Powder or a touch of luminosity with Mary Kay® Highlighting Powder. See how!

FOR SHADOWY AREAS

Apply to inner corners of eyes, outer edges of the nose, and under the lower lip.

FOR PUFFY EYES

Apply just below the puffy area, only highlighting the shadow under the puffiness (not the puffy area) to “lift” it and make the area appear more flat. Then, use your ring finger to lightly pat the edges to blend.

Bronzer Bronzing powder adds warmth and dimension to the face.

Mary Kay® Bronzing Powder • C reates a natural-looking sun-kissed glow.

WHY INVEST IN BRUSHES? “Every woman needs a brush set. Brushes are tools, and if you let them do their job, your whole makeup application will be easier.” – Luis Casco, Mary Kay Global Makeup Artist

MUST-HAVE BRUSHES

Customise Your Collection Mary Kay Global Makeup Artist Luis Casco shares his

views on why these brushes are great additions to your brush collection.

Mary Kay® Cream Eye Color/Concealer Brush* “The way that this brush is shaped allows you to access hard-to-reach areas and apply product really close under your eyes. Another way to use this brush is with Cream Eye Color. If you want your look to make an even stronger statement, pat on Cream Eye Color.”

Mary Kay® Smudger Brush “Using this brush is my favourite way to deepen a smoky eye, make it look like you’ve spent hours blending your eye shadow to perfection. It really gives you that control, that ability, to apply the colour right where you want the most dramatic effect focused and blended.”

24

Add drama: Use upward

colour close to lashlines.

Mary Kay® Liquid Foundation Brush “By applying your makeup with a foundation brush, you’re going to use a lot less product than you would if you applied it another way. I like to take what’s left on the brush and run it down the neck, just to make sure that everything is blended.”

Mary Kay® Mineral Foundation Brush “This is a really cool brush that I love. It makes it so easy to apply your mineral powder foundation. You can also use this brush on its own to buff out makeup after you’ve applied it.”

Expert Extra

Don’t forget to clean your brushes! Brushes can gather makeup, oil and dead skin cells. A good rule is to clean your brushes often in order to help keep makeup application at its best.

*For hygiene reasons, it is recommended that you dedicate one brush for use with cream eye colour, and another brush for use with concealer.

Eyeliner

EASY EYELINER APPLICATION By drawing three short interconnecting lines across the upper or lower lashline, you can achieve your desired thickness far more easily than you would if attempting a single continuous line. The three lines can then be blended or connected. To create a thicker line simply repeat this process!

TIP: For eyes with a narrow upper lid, apply a lighter shade of eyeliner or eye colour to the lower lashline in order to help make the eyes appear more open.

Three Ways to Line Eyes:

1 2 3 30

Pencil = Defined line Mary Kay® Eyeliner allows you to draw a thick or thin line for definition in intense colours.

Liquid = Dramatic line Mary Kay® Liquid Eyeliner delivers dramatic precision. Add a winged tip at the outer edge by gently ticking up the line to create a cat-eye effect.

Mineral Eye Color = Blended line Use an angled flat brush like the Mary Kay® Eyeliner/ Eyebrow Brush to apply any shade of Mary Kay® Mineral Eye Color as an eyeliner. Blend Mineral Eye Color over other eyeliner formulas to create rich effects or accent colours. For lower lashlines, soften the look with the Mary Kay® Eye Smudger Brush.

TIP: • First draw your line with pencil, then go over it with liquid eyeliner. • K eep Mary Kay® Oil-Free Eye Makeup Remover and cotton swabs nearby to gently correct any mistakes. • Use pencils on lower lashlines, as liquid eyeliner can make eyes look narrow. • Line upper lashlines only for a fresh, natural look. 31

Brush from the Mary Kay® Brush Collection to apply Mineral Eye Colors or Mary Kay® Cream Eye Color/Concealer Brush to apply cream eye colour.

36

Lips Luscious

42

STEP

1

Prep

Before you dive into a lip colour, don’t forget to protect and pamper your lips. Buffing lips and applying a lip balm is a great way to exfoliate and then hydrate lips so that they look their best – even without lip colour. Satin Lips® Lip Mask and Satin Lips® Lip Balm are great for conditioning lips.

STEP

2

Liner

You may want to consider lip liner first, once you’ve prepped to apply lip colour. Makeup artists also use lip liner to create a base for lipstick and lip gloss and make lip colour last longer. Learn how to get the perfect application.

STEP

3

Colour

Lip colour is more about personality than perfection. It’s easy to apply, so you can have fun changing colours depending on your mood. Find your perfect shade here.

43

LUSCIOUS LIPS

Lip Liner Application

TO APPLY: Draw a line around your natural lip line. You can choose to fill in the lip line completely to create a matte base. Then apply lip colour, if you want, or just wear lip liner as your lip colour.

TO MAKE THIN LIPS LOOK FULLER • Line lips slightly above the natural top and below the bottom lip lines. • Fill lips in completely with lip liner to create a matte base. • Apply lip colour. Apply lip gloss only to the middle of the lips to create a fuller appearance.

TO MAKE FULL LIPS LOOK THINNER • Line lips slightly inside of the natural top and bottom lip lines. • Fill lips in completely with lip liner to create a matte base. • Apply lip colour.

EXPERT EXTRA: TWO-TONE LIPS: Apply two different lip colour shades to lips – one to the top and one to the bottom lip. You can create different effects by mixing textures (think lipstick and gloss) and shades. It is best to choose shades within the same colour family. Create a wearable version of this by taking two coordinating shades of lipstick and layering them on top of one other to create a pretty “ombre” effect.

44

CHOOSING SHADES:

There are two ways for you to choose your lip liner:

1 Mary Kay Lip Liner

2

To match the natural colour of your lips. This helps create a layered, dimensional lip look.

To enhance your lip colour makeup. This is when you really want to play with colour and have fun with colour pairings.

LUSCIOUS LIPS

Picking Everyday Lip Colour “Every woman should have a go-to, natural lipstick shade that is just a bit darker than her own lips. It just adds a little extra something to your natural look – like your lips, only better!” – Luis Casco, Mary Kay Global Makeup Artist

Lip Tips: • Consider that the natural tones of your lips will affect the way a lip colour looks. This is why you might fall in love with a shade your friend wears, only to be surprised that it looks completely different on you. • Don’t just test shades on your hands! Luis recommends trying shades on your lips to see what they look like. • To determine the lip colour formula that’s right for you, consider the finish you want to create. — A matte or semi-matte lip look is very classic, so you might use True Dimensions™ Lipstick. — The satin finish from creme lipstick formula gives lips rich, colourful impact. — Lip gloss can add a bit of sparkle and shine for a fun finish.

EASY LIP LOOKS 50

The Basic Lip Look “Colour combinations are endless, but every woman should have a lipstick shade that looks natural and that doesn’t detract from other features. Usually a pinkish brown tone works great.” – Luis Casco, Mary Kay

step

1

step

2

Apply lip liner. See application options here.

step

3

Apply lipstick in a shade close to your natural lip tone, or one or two shades darker. Start in the middle of the upper lip, sweeping to the corners. Then, repeat application on the bottom lip.

step

4

Blot lips with a tissue.

Add shine or create a colour combination with lip gloss on top.

The Stained Lip Look “To ease into colour, I would recommend using stains or a brighter gloss. Remember to wear it with a neutral, and not too dark, eye look.” – Luis Casco, Mary Kay Global Makeup Artist

step

1

step

2

step

3

Apply Clear Lip Liner to your lips.

step

4

Apply lip liner to entire lip.

step

5

Mix a bit of lipstick (dark reds and berries work best) with a tiny bit of lip balm, like Satin Lips® Lip Balm. You can use the back of your hand if you don’t have a makeup palette.

step

6

Pat colour onto your lips with your fingers.

Blot with a tissue.

Repeat this application process once or twice as needed. The more you layer, the longer your stained lip will last.

Younger With Makeup

Your age is your secret – and applying Mary Kay® makeup flawlessly will help you to keep it!

Choose Colours With Confidence. FOR EYES:

FOR CHEEKS:

• Neutrals are always flattering.

• Soft, warm shades give the most natural, youthful glow.

• To downplay fine lines around the eyes, use shimmery shades primarily for highlighting. • Use an eyelash curler to open the eyes. • Concentrate soft eyeliner on upper lashline to minimise the appearance of fine lines near the lower lashline.

• Shimmery shades can accentuate fine lines, so matte shades may be a better option.

For Flawless Foundation

FOR LIPS: • Medium-bright or complexion-compatible shades help make lips look younger. • Pinks, peaches and watermelon shades look great with silver hair.

Apply lightly and build coverage as needed. Too much foundation can accentuate and settle into fine lines. Find your perfect formula now!

• Stark brights and pale neutrals can fade the complexion.
