Sandra invited me to her weekly unit meeting where I met other sharp, professional women. I knew I wanted to be a part. On Sept. 13, 1985, I submitted my Mary Kay Independent Beauty Consultant Agreement. Coincidentally Sept. 13 is the day that Mary Kay Ash started this wonderful company!” Cleta remembers Independent Sales Director Patti Fisher suggesting she book eight parties with the intention of holding at least five within her first two weeks. “I did exactly as I was coached, just like in my basketball days,” says Cleta. “I only sold $35 at my first party, but by the end of my first week I had sold $400. I went to my first unit meeting and was crowned the Queen of Sales that week. This athletic, no frills girl had found her calling!”
