LINEAR DESIGN BASIC DESIGN / Fall 2015 The aim of this little project was exprimenting the linear movement within a space, we were requested to design an art museum. It was precieved in such a way to expriment the different shades and shadows within the space, sun rays and light reflections, Different roofing layers allowed more openings to the space to reduce heat but allow light. Working with triangles was an expriment of structural balance and stability.

The approach of the design came from the aim of creating a transparent community of students and teachers that are separated but still feel connected. The building is a one mass in an L-shape where one strip is for Art and one strip is for the Sciene sector, In the middle is a triple agent that created the main circulation point of the building, is the main structural element of the building as well as the one the main source of ventilation. Great considerations of methods of sustainbility has been considrered like the use of cross ventilation carrying cold air from the small pond into the outdoor students cafeteria, the use of building materials that reduce the energy efficiency within the building as well as social sustainability through creating spaces that can be used by the communtiy during non working hours.

The main vehicle access to the city passes under a big pedesterian bridge that connects the four quarters of the site, the bridge in which is the main node will be used for daily perdesterian movement as well as crowd management in days of olympics, and as shading to an open market.

A chellenging site of 4 million sqm has been designed from the concept of creating a healthy communtiy and an environment that supports an active lifestyle for it’s residents and visitors. Planning a smart sports city that promotes sports with connectivity and offers people a smart way of living, moving and competing internationally.

REHABILITATE SHIS: A PROGRAM TO REVITALIZE UAE COMMUNITY THROUGH ECO-CULTURAL TOURISM SENIOR DESIGN / 20182019

44 universities, 261 projects, 3 rounds of assessment

This research moves within the workframe of Sharjah tourism vision 2021, and particularly tackles the valorization of the local cultural heritage through the UAE Emiratization initiative. The mountainous area of Khorfakkan (Sharjah) is characterized by several villages among them; Shis emerges as one of the most interesting realities. The local community consists of 15 families that resided up the hill, living of small agriculture. In the past, the urban environment within Shis enabled strong cultural interaction and the placement of the now abandoned houses promoted community gathering.

The long-term objective of this research is to make Shis a pilot project for the revitalization of the local heritage into a destination that combines eco- and cultural- tourism. By questioning and framing the value of the village, the study deduced that Shis’s intrinsic value resides in the integrity of its community, beyond the mere existence of its buildings or its urban fabric. Shis’s community needs to be preserved and developed as a diffused hotel and developed with new construction: extra accommodations/rooms and service for tourists.
