Fatra Modular Tray Green Roof System
Fatra Modular Tray Green Roof Systems are the best way to create instant green roofs. These modular, pre-grown, fully established extensive roof systems are simple, clean and extremely quick to install. Dimensions: 540mm x 540mm, Height: 90mm, Weight: 15kg
All drainage and filtration components are pre-installed within a tray module, so the green roof construction consists simply of placing the trays onto the deck in one operation. Each tray has fixings at the sides so that it is clipped to the next tray. The plants will grow above the level of the tray sides, hiding the joints and creating a seamless green roof. No fixings are required into the roof deck beneath.

Key advantages of the Fatra Modular Tray Green Roof System:
Lightweight - easier to install and possible roofs with lower weight thresholds
Speed of installation - more than twice as fast as loose lay construction
Ease of installation - one person can carry a tray easily, restricted access areas possible
Instant green roof - pre-grown plants are over 12 months old to ensure healthy vibrant vegetation
Instant green roof - pre-assembled components mean no disturbance and ‘settling in’
Instant green roof - plants do not suffer during transit, vegetation stays in primary condition
Easy transport and movement - modules are packed onto pallets for easy movement onto roof
Simplicity of installation - landscaping experts are not required to construct the green roof
Less mess - no risk of loose aggregates spilling onto waterproofing membranes
Less mess - packaging and waste component materials are reduced
Less irrigation required - because of the unique special substrate blend
Variety - Fatra modular trays come with sedum vegetation or sedum and wildflowers for biodiverse roofs
Future-proof - if the roof deck ever needs to be inspected one tray can be easily lifted with minimum disruption
Made from recycled materials - including drainage membrane, geotextile and substrate
Fatra Modular Tray Green Roof build-up:
Protection fleece: FF801 geo-textile fleece is loose laid above the Fatra waterproof membrane to provide protection and separation Drainage layer: Is provided by the three dimensional moulded trays made from recycled polypropylene which is an integral part of the Fatra modular tray system. Our drainage layer also holds some water to help keep the substrate moist which reduces plant stress during dry periods. Substrate: Fatra modular tray substrates are an engineered growing medium to provide a specific ratio of organic and nutrient content, and moisture retention combination to support specific plant growth. The substrates are a mixture of aggregate, green waste and absorbent polymer fibre (Microlot) that provides the primary support for the vegetation and means no irrigation is required. Plants: Fatra modular tray is planted with sedums and wildflowers which have a strong root and stem development since they have been grown for at least 12 months. Fatra modular trays are grown in situ and when they are transported there is less disturbance. Our lorries are loaded up and delivered in less than 24 hours ensuring that the Fatra trays arrive in near optimum condition.

Frequently Asked Questions: Do I need to place a protection fleece over the waterproof layer? Yes, it is good practice and is part of the GRO (Green Roof Organisation) guidelines. FF801 fleece is recommended.
What depth of build-up is recommended? Overall depth should be a minimum of 90mm deep.
What are sedums and wildflowers? Sedums are a species of low growing, drought tolerant plants that adapt readily for life at roof level. Different sub-species are chosen to give a good aesthetic mix, flowering predominately between May and July. Wildflowers are native species, non-invasive flowers which can live in low nutrient substrates.
Can I cut the modular trays? Yes, with a hand saw. However, the cut edge must be contained by either butting it next to an adjacent tray module or by enclosing it within our aluminium edging.
Can green roofs be installed on a completely flat roof surface? We recommend a minimum fall of 1:80 with no areas of permanent standing water.
Is irrigation necessary for an extensive green roof? Not necessary but for periods over 3 weeks without rainfall irrigation is recommended.
