from the editor Spring weather is full of surprises, but this year in particular has kept us juggling spring coats, shorts, umbrellas and sunglasses constantly. Regardless of the weather and its instability, everyone is eager to reveal a summer-ready version of themselves just in time to hit this vibrant season with style. The runways for Spring/Summer 2012 were flooded with colour galore bright yellows, blues, greens, hot tangerines, corals and reds. Neons and pastels were paired with whites and textured fabrics, making it one of the best seasons to date. Our team had so many incredible trends to work with, that shooting the LE$$ TRENDY feature turned into a “mix and match” styling session, which in turn produced some amazing images. Beyond this season’s garments, we wanted to expose some of the individuals working behind the scenes that influence and contribute to the fashion world. Making these wonderful fashions accessible to all of us are the Retailers, Stylists, Models, Designers and Creative Directors. They play a crucial role on deciding what trends are pulled into focus and how great fashion is presented to the world. We are thrilled to have been able to get some insight into the whole process. While working on this issue’s release, many of our readers sent us pictures of their favourite Spring/Summer looks from the many designers showcasing their collections on the international stage. We were so impressed with the choices and all of the wonderful visuals, that we are asking you (our readers) to post photos of either yourselves or others wearing inspired fashions of the season on our Facebook page. Continuing with the excitement that’s in the air, we have some fantastic giveaways in this issue. Stay tuned to our social media (Facebook/Twitter) for more details on how to participate. Also, don’t forget to take a look at the new faces on our team, as well as some new and exciting features that we think you will really enjoy. On behalf of everyone at fave Magazine, I would like to take a moment to thank you for your continuous support, contributions and feedback. Wishing you a joyous Spring and a great Summer! FASHIONW@RKS By: Erica Wark, fashion journalist and stylist

Spring has officially sprung, so what’s a girl to do? Shop of course! Colour surrounds us this season through print, pattern and perfectly textured pieces. And with all of the options for spring, it gives us an opportunity to really make our mark in personal style. Here are the top trends worth picking up this month.

clothing literally does the work for you, incorporating varying colours into one fashion-forward piece! Try using it in a statement item like a great blazer or power skirt, and then build the rest of the outfit off the colours that are used in the stripe!

Stripes Done Differently So long nautical, colour-blocked stripes are in the house! For those of you who have been following the colour-block trend over the past year but weren’t sure how to wear it, now’s the time to try it. The

Neon Brights I’m completely head-over-high heels in love with the bountiful colour combinations in stores right now, especially the brights. Whether you’re completely decked out head-to-stiletto in colour, or maybe just an infusion of neon in a clutch, you’re sure to stand out!

BCBG

Garden Party Floral print is everywhere, in every shade, and in every colour – so no matter what your style is, you’re sure to find something that works for you. The Spring 2012 runways were covered in full-body florals: jacket, blouse, pant, shoe, bag... you get my drift. But don’t think you have to take the trend TOO literal, you can easily incorporate floral into your wardrobe, even something as simple as a tropical scarf or a rainforest printed pant. Whether you decide to go bold, or more subtle, this trend is something worth taking a second look at.

BRUN

Celebrates 7 S By Jennifer Lecompte

I take a seat on the red leather couch in The Loft’s sleek and sophisticated waiting area. The Elgin Street salon exudes a Europe-meets-New York aesthetic, which gives me the impression that something extraordinary is about to happen. It is my first meeting with The Loft CEO and Ottawa Fashion Week Creative Director Bruno Racine, but I spot him instantly among his staffers. His seventh season with Ottawa Fashion Week was getting underway and while one would be understandably flustered and frantic when dealing with a long list of preparations and a schedule peppered with media appearances and business meetings, he seems composed and unfazed by it all. After a double-cheek kiss, Bruno leads me into The Loft Academy (a one-of-akind, salon-run private school) and like any seasoned host, offers me a choice of beverage. “Water? Cappuccino?” “Double whatever you’ll be having, please.” I reply. “How about some wine?” he asks with a smile. “It’s after work anyway.” As we get comfortable in the salon chairs of the private classroom, he quickly proves to be one of the most charismatic and candid people with whom I’ve ever had the pleasure of embarking on an impromptu 5-à-7.

NO RACINE

Seasons of Creativity and Catwalk A Change of Fate

-

Growing up in Hawkesbury Ontario, Bruno Racine initially had financial world aspirations. Completing a Bachelor of Commerce in Accounting from the University of Ottawa in 1991, he became a Junior Auditor for Deloitte & Touche. “Finance was a good career path at the time for me.” he explains. “Being a numbers guy, I always wanted to be a CEO of a big corporation. Finance was always my strongest subject, so it just made sense to get my CA and my CMA.”

ing people at the door and cutting hair – all at the same time. I started hiring other stylists about two months later and opened my second salon (Le Spa) a few years after that.”

One year later, he realized that a life in finance was not for him. “I no longer enjoyed it. I was always questioning everything: “Why is this done like this? It should be done like that!” I did not take orders very well. I needed to be in control. I know what I like.” It was by doing taxes for his many hairstylist friends (who had about 12-15 years of experience in the beauty industry) where a new direction started to materialize before him. “They were making about twice as much as I was as a Junior Auditor!” Inspired, he left his job at Deloitte and enrolled in Sutton Hairdressing School’s ten month program, not yet knowing if he would even be able to cut it in that kind of industry. Puns aside, this decision would become a lucrative leap of faith for Racine. While building a clientele working for The Hair Shoppe, it didn’t take very long for people to notice his talent. Gradually, Bruno became the proud owner of his very own salon. “The Loft grew slowly.” he recalls. “In the beginning, it was basically just me taking the bookings over the phone, greet-

Seventeen years later, the secret behind his entrepreneurial success boils down to two things: “Timing and gut feelings.” he says decisively. “I guess a background in business doesn’t hurt either.” he adds with a laugh. “Mostly timing and intuition though.”

Hands-on Hair Even with his success, Bruno saw the potential to use his business as a means for training and education. The Loft and Le Spa have something unique to offer aspiring hairstylists. In its second year, The Loft Academy is the only hair school in Ottawa that is fully integrated with the salon. The eleven month full-time course provides theoretical and practical elements as well as the opportunity to learn from key beauty industry professionals. Taking a page from Vidal Sassoon in London, the Academy is also used as a recruiting tool. “The only way you can work for Vidal Sassoon is to train with them.” he says. “You take your basic or advanced courses and then move it into the salon. The Loft offers a similar co-op experience.” Bruno still travels to Europe annually to refresh his techniques and observe the latest trends. “You see a big difference between North American and European women.

25

FEATURE The West is very “Jennifer Aniston and Halle Berry”. It’s more commercial. That’s not necessarily a bad thing; it still has appeal, but European styles are more tailored to the individual and not mass-produced. It’s more creative and customized.” he explains. “Frank Sukhoo takes a similar approach with his clothing designs. They’re tailored for each silhouette. When it comes to hair, we’re the same way. We try to bring that individuality into our salons.”

Fashion Forward Business was good, but even bigger changes were on the horizon. Before long, L’Oréal Professional came knocking at Racine’s door wanting him to work behind the scenes on Project Runway Canada. “I was just sucked into the fashion world overnight. For me, making people beautiful is so rewarding.” he says, beaming.

when it comes to makeup and hair, it’s not necessarily their expertise. That’s where we come in.” he says. “We’re hoping to become more avant-garde in the long-term. We are the National Capital, so why not feature more haute couture and haute coiffure?” The transition from Lead Hairstylist to Creative Director was seamless. “I worked really well with Hussein Rashid (co-founder of OFW) and everything just fell into place naturally.” he says. “Owning a business helped a lot too. Right now, Ottawa is a tougher market. To support and budget for this event, we have to rely a lot on sponsors and ticket sales. I have access to a heavy network and bring in sponsorship through The Loft’s suppliers.” As it stands, OFW has a local audience of 40%, the rest flock from out of town. “OFW is growing exponentially” he says. “The focus is trying to be original. We’re different from Montreal, Toronto, New York and Paris because we’re open to the general public.”

I was just sucked into the fashion world overnight. For me, making people beautiful is so rewarding.

Working in television would lead to liaising with L’Oréal on many more projects, including a two- year contract with Toronto Fashion Week. “I was exposed to a well-oiled machine while working with Eddie Malter (National Makeup Artist) and Eric Del Monaco (L’Oréal’s Official Hair Artist and Colourist and Lead Hair Artist for TFW).”

Quickly breaking through the fashion networks of Toronto and Montreal, it was only natural for Bruno to begin his budding affair with Ottawa Fashion Week. As Lead Hairstylist during OFW’s first two seasons, he was now officially bringing his business into Canada’s fashion world. The Loft continues to be OFW’s exclusive salon. A team of ten stylists and makeup artists work closely with the designers to pull in inspiration, but make strong suggestions when creating consistent runway looks for over 120 models. “Designers know a great deal about fabrics, colours and styles, but

SPRING | SUMMER 2012

Even though the show goes on twice a year, preparation is continuous. “We’re constantly dealing with sponsors, looking at new designers and searching for venues.” OFW (originally called Fashion in the Capital) made its debut at the Arts Court, moved to the National Gallery of Canada for two seasons and then made its way to the Convention Centre last year.

Fashion and Ice For the first time, Ottawa Fashion Week partnered with the National Capital Commission and showcased Fall and Winter fashions at a new venue in the downtown Westin Hotel. Winterlude attracts more than half a million visitors to the National Capital Region and solidifying a partnership with OFW (who, in their own right, pull in over 5,000 attendees

each year) was just common sense. “Because of this partnership we’re heavily focused on Canadian designers this season; however, every year we look to bringing in more and more of an international influence.” he says. An influence they’ve dabbled in before. Previous seasons featured London-based designer Simon Ekrelius and Barcelona’s Alexis Reyna. This season, Zimbabwe’s DeMoyo, whose focus is being eco-conscious and creating jobs in at-risk areas of Africa by sourcing from small communities, took her place on the OFW runway. When selecting designers, a slew of research and industry observation takes place. With hundreds to choose from, this process is tedious and complex. “We’re really looking for variety in a clothing line. We’re also eyeing production detail.” Leafing through the pages of Flare Magazine, the OFW team took notice of Halifax designer Lisa Drader-Murphy. Her label (Turbine) has not only graced the runways of France, but the likes of Hollywood actor Dennis Quaid, Jennifer Love Hewitt and the new cast of 90210. Re-appearing on the runway were Ottawa’s local designers that have been supportive since day one: Rachel Sin, Amanda Emmanuel, Jana Hanzel and Emila Torabi.

The week ended on a high note and a helping hand. Toronto’s Kevin Carroll (All Access with Kevin) cohosted the closing UNICEF Charity Show “Runway for a Better Way” on February 19th. The show featured designs by Rachel Sin, Turbine, DeMoyo and Sukhoo Sukhoo worn by celebrity models including Gabrielle Miller (Corner Gas/Call Me Fitz), Elizabeth Manley (Olympic Silver Medalist), Rosey Edeh (ET Canada), Tré Armstrong (So You Think You Can Dance Canada), Erica Wark (CBC’s Steven and Chris), Leesa Butler (www.flist.ca), Casie Stewart (www.casiestewart.com), Gail McInnes (TDot TV), Cory Lee (Degrassi), TL Rader (TV Personality and Professional Ballroom Dancer) and Solange Tuyishime (UNICEF Canada Ambassador). With over $2000 raised, funds will go towards UNICEF programming. Along with Executive Producer Hussein Rashid, Bruno hopes to continue promoting and encouraging the ever-emerging Ottawa fashion scene; supporting up-and-coming designers from across the country and abroad by providing a platform that will bring both creator and spectator together for many fashionable seasons to come.■ 5 Questions post Ottawa Fashion Week with Bruno Racine - see video below

M o d e l Citizen An Interview with Rachel Sin By Cassidy MacIntyre

Strength in fashion can be defined by color, structure, pattern, fabric and sometimes simply through the talents of the designer. Rachel Sin is a Canadian clothing designer based out of Toronto. As a trained architect, she continues to evolve her tailored fashions using surprising design patterns, layers, fabrics and fitting. The contemporary, sexy and elegant style of a Rachel Sin woman is transformative for daytime attire to evening wear - ideal for today’s modern woman. Reminiscent of the fashions from a Pedro Almodovar film, Rachel Sin’s FW2012 Collection is darkly romantic and defines today’s modern style – an appealing contradiction of strength and vulnerability. The Almodovar protagonist (a.k.a Penelope Cruz) inspired a mood board with rich materials including textured lace, faux-fur and shimmering sequins. A feminine neutral toned colour palette consisting of camel, charcoal gray and peach nude elevate the contemporary expression of the collection. “Imagine the Almodovar heroine – You can’t help but notice as she walks by.” Rachel shares. “The simple, form-fitting dress is as visually stunning as her beauty. She is well put together, but doesn’t have to try hard to make you look. Known to create a strong presence of female characters in his movies, Almodovar consistently creates female characters that can do it all. They can be plain, spectacularly glamorous, needy and possessive or fiercely self-sufficient.” True to Rachel Sin’s structured design talents, FW2012 is a stunning compilation of work to evening dresses, fall suiting separates, fitted skirts, sequined dinner pants, and a formfitting blazer with a faux-fur accent on the breast. Cut-outs, sheer lace, and a falling back-line are distinctive of Rachel Sin’s sophisticated, yet sexy design approach and are incorporated into many of the collections pieces. I have worked with Rachel for the last 4 years, and I have found her to be one of the most down-to-earth and genuine designers that I have modelled for. Despite the backstage chaos during a fashion show, Rachel sat down to answer a few questions for fave about her life and career. 54 f ave

fave: What made you want to become a designer? Rachel Sin: I’m one of those “want to do it all” people. Fashion design is another channel for creative release. It was something that I always wanted to pursue, but did not think I had to go to school to study. I took sewing classes while completing my Masters in Architecture at Carleton University.

fave: Where do you see yourself in 5 years? RS: I would love to have one job title. Designer and design anything in any medium I feel like creating. I think it would be wonderful designing both a clothing line and a standalone store to house the collection. fave: If you had the opportunity to design for any celebrity, who would you want to design for? RS:: Rooney Mara is the first person that comes to mind. I was excited to see what she would wear on the red carpet for the Oscars. She’s edgy, yet classy and always ultra femme—quintessentially the Rachel Sin woman.

fave: What do you enjoy most about your job? RS: Designing a new collection is still my favourite part of the whole creative process. Seeing your hard work walk down the runway is a close second. Designer Frank Sukhoo taking a moment to enjoy the shows at Ottawa Fashion Week 2012, photo by: Alcides Munoz Jr. 56 f ave SPRING | SUMMER 2012

Interview By Sienna Vittoria Lee-Coughlin This season, Ottawa Fashion Week attendees were entranced by Frank Sukhoo’s elegant and edgy collection. Models paraded down the runway in a series of richly textured pieces that attempted to encompass the full range of his designs. From casual frocks and tailored skirt suits, to dramatic and extravagant evening wear, Frank Sukhoo does it all. Not only does his success lie with his impeccably tailored clothing, but with the unique manner in which he produces and sells his line as well. Entering his boutique on Dalhousie, you’ll find a glittering chandelier in a showroom where his pieces adorn the walls and drape various mannequins. In the centre of the room stands a glass table covered with embellished hats, flanked by two antique arm chairs. Ottawa Fashion Week was just around the corner, and yet, Frank took time out of his busy schedule to meet with me. He greeted me with a warm smile, invited me to have a seat, and I got to know the man behind these beautiful clothes. Interview on the next page.

Fave: Ottawa Fashion Week is fast-approaching! Are you excited? Sukhoo: Yeah, it will be interesting. I’m just there to have a good time, you know? It’s a show. I don’t get freaked out about things like that. I honestly don’t. F: You seem to be a very relaxed sort of guy. S: Yeah. I have to be. My stuff is done. My clothes are done. The people that are looking after hair and makeup are fantastic, so I’ll be relaxed. F: What can we expect from you at Fashion Week? S: Basically I’m trying to show the whole range of what I do - coats, daywear and evening wear. Most of it (I want to say 70-80% of it) will be evening wear. F: What made you want to join Ottawa Fashion Week? S: You know what? I was always hesitant about it. I did the first one, because it was new, but the venue was a little bit different. Now the venue is much nicer, so that’s why I decided to do it again. F: It has really evolved. S: Yeah, exactly. It’s growing. They also have some good designers this season.

SPRING | SUMMER 2012

F: Tell me about your own work evolution. Where did you start? How did you end up where you are today? S: While in university, I got my degree in Sociology. I was going to get into a program for Social Work in my last year, but a friend of mine said: “You should get into fashion design.” So, I applied at Richard Robinson – was accepted and completed the two-year program. When I graduated, was asked to start teaching. I taught the Fashion Design program there for about 13 years. I taught patternmaking, sewing, and their administrative course. After that, a company called Silk Wear in Ottawa hired me as their head designer. I worked there for a year, and then seven years ago I opened up [my own store]. F: How have the last seven years treated you? S: It’s been really good. I mean, this is what I like doing. I’ve built up my clientele and I’ve built up a reputation in Ottawa. It’s going well. I cannot complain. It’s hard out there, but as I always say to designers: “You know what? Once you finish your program, get as much experience as you can. Do what you need to do. “I wouldn’t recommend opening your own store right away, because there’s a lot to learn. Most of the programs teach you what you need to learn, but there’s a lot more to it. Work with other designers and look for different ways of doing ways of doing things. Get internships.

F: Tell me more about your time as a teacher. What did you like the most? S: I had to take what I learned and put it into practice. You have to think really fast. That’s what the teaching did for me; it helped me reinforce what I already knew. F: Tell me more about your clothing line. What is it that you specialize in? S: In a way, I specialize in everything. Everything here is custom made. When you come in, we’ll have a little chat to assess what you’re looking for. I’ll ask you what you like, what you don’t like and what colours you prefer. In about a week’s time, I’ll put together sketches for you based on our discussion. I’ll also source your fabrics. We’ll go through the sketches and discuss what you like and what you don’t like about them. This is followed by taking measurements. From the measurements, I make my pattern. From the pattern, I do what is called a ‘canvas’. (It’s like an unbleached cotton version of the garment that the customer tries on.) I make sure it fits, adjust my pattern and then go into fabric. You try on the fabric, and I make the final product. F: You deal with a lot of personal requests. Do you also create a general collection per season? S: No, it’s not season per season. For me, I just add pieces that I think are unique. I get a lot of inspiration from my clients. I may be doing a specific garment for them, but as we talk, I get other ideas on what I can add to my line.

do anything I want - something that’s completely crazy - but if the client doesn’t feel good in it, then forget it. F: Do you have a specific targeted buyer? Or are you really client by client? S: It’s client by client, but my clientele tend to be ladies or men that don’t like to shop. I get a lot of busy businesswomen and a lot of people who can’t find what they’re looking for in the stores. I probably shouldn’t be saying this, but I find that there are a lot of clothes in the world of retail that aren’t suitable for every body type. It’s easier for my clients to come in and be measured properly. The nice thing is, when you get something made here, I’ll keep source of the fabric. If you come back again wanting another piece to go with it, I can always resource that exact fabric. My clients can build up their wardrobe that way. F: I’ve read a lot about you enjoying designing gowns for women attending galas. S: Yes. I design a lot of dresses for women who attend fund raisers. I tend to do a big one for the British High Commissioner’s wife in the summertime. I also donate quite a bit to the different events that my clients attend. I always feel that I have to give back. That’s very important.

F: Other than your clients, what are you inspired by? S: I also get inspired by fabric. Sometimes my suppliers will come in and I’ll have no idea on what I’m going to make. I’ll then see a piece of fabric that I really like, and I’ll order it. The ideas are not always immediate though. Sometimes it takes me a couple months before I decide what to do with it. F: How would you describe your personal design aesthetic? S: My style is very classic. I love tailoring, but there’s always got to be that edge to it. I like something that’s a little different. A jacket will always be a jacket; a dress will always be a dress, but it’s the detailing and the fabric that makes it unique. For me, it has to fit the client’s personality. FASHION F: Where do you see Ottawa and its place in fashion? S: It’s growing. Right now, we’re very conservative. We say it’s because we’re a government town; but as I said, there are always groups of people here that are very trendy. They’re just a little bit hidden and they stick within their group. Within the past 3 years, we’ve been more exposed to fashion. The internet plays a big role in this because you have access to a designer’s line a week after, or even an hour after they’ve completed their show. It’s growing quite nicely, actually. Things are very accessible now in terms of fashion. I mean, you can order online. For me, it’s so easy to get a hold of fabrics now. It wasn’t this easy 10 years ago. F: It’s interesting that the time frame you gave regarding Ottawa’s growth was 3 years. That is roughly the same time Ottawa Fashion Week started. Do you think that OFW is playing a role in its growth? S: Oh yes, for sure. OFW is exposing up-and-coming local and international designers. It’s exciting.

F: Who are you inspired by in regards to other designers? S: You know what? I love all designers. I’m not inspired by one in particular, because my mind changes constantly. I’ll love one designer one season, but then I’ll like another designer the next. It’s a creative process, right? I don’t limit myself to one particular style. I like a variety of styles. F: Have you been keeping up to date with New York Fashion Week? Have you seen anything that you like? S: Zac Posen had some interesting pieces and Diane Van Furstenberg had some nice leather pants. F: Where do you see yourself in the future, as a designer? S: For me, I always take it as it comes. I’d like to do a ready-to-wear line, but I’m not ready to do it this year. I never really said “In 5 years I’m going to do this and this…”, because there’s always a flow for me. Every time I do something, it takes me to the next level and I just follow that. I never force it.

SPRING | SUMMER 2012

F: What made you decide to base yourself here in Ottawa? S: Hmmm. There’s not as much competition. I think in Ottawa you can let yourself grow, but you grow slowly, so you learn more. In Montreal and Toronto there’s a lot more competition. It’s a lot harder. Ottawa is a market that hasn’t been tapped into. Why go somewhere else, when things are available in Ottawa? F: You can be a shark in a little pond. S: Exactly. Let Ottawa grow a little bit. Like I said, the clientele is here. Ottawa is conservative, but there is money in Ottawa. A lot of my clients have the money, but they’re low-key. Right now, I have some new clientele; specifically, the wife of the Governor General of Canada. F: That’s exciting. Are you making something for her right now? S: Yeah, I am, but people are people. I have to say that I haven’t really come across anybody that I haven’t really gotten along with. People come in for a specific reason and you have to make it fun while you get to know different personalities. F: How does your pricing range? S: My suits usually start at around $1800. My evening wear starts at around $2000.

F: Are there any other art forms you’re inspired by? S: No time!! (He laughs wholeheartedly) F: Do you feel that being in the Arts Program at Canterbury helped shape your career? S: Yeah, it’s a very good program. When I was in Grade 12, they were only first starting the program, so I only had it for the last two years of high school. That’s why I went to university. I didn’t fully know what was out there and I had only gotten a small introduction. I had always been interested in art, and a part of me knew that was the direction I wanted to go into, but I didn’t know where specifically. At that time, I wasn’t exposed to it enough. I didn’t even know there were schools out there for Fashion Design. F: What is your advice to aspiring designers? S: My advice is to get as much experience as you can. If this is what you want to do, you’ve just got

to keep going at it. It’s not an easy field, and like anything else it’s a learning process, so just keep going at it. F: What suggestions do you have in regards to attaining this experience? What sort of positions or atmospheres would be beneficial? S: Take whatever you can get when you graduate. Just learn. I mean even if it’s just assisting a designer. Don’t go in with the attitude that you’re a designer when you’re just fresh out of a program. Go in with the attitude that you need to learn. It’s only within the past 7-10 years, once I opened my store, that I called myself a designer. Even at that, I have a hard time saying it, because to me a ‘designer’ is just a word. It’s just a title. It’s what you do that’s important. If you’re like me, and you’re dealing with clients, then the clients come first. That’s what’s important. I want to make them happy.■

Aristocrat of Scent ‘s choice: Yellow Diamond by Versace This fragrance was produced by Donatella as Gianni Versace gave her a yellow diamond which she treasures to this day. It has been voted as the Best Female Fragrance Made in Italy for 2012 by The Italian Association of Cosmetic Companies. I love it because it exemplifies glamour and femininity. Pear sorbet, orange blossoms and the sensuality of amber are some of the notes found in this luxurious fragrance. It transcends all ages and it is easy to see why the House of Versace is a winner. RESTORE

Eyebrow Transplant Unlike other brow enhancement techniques such as tattooing or dying, minimally invasive eyebrow restoration at Rahal combines advanced follicular unit transplantation and our proven FUE hair transplant technique to create a truly natural and permanent look. What to expect the day of your procedure: Before Picture: Marked area for transplant

1. Personal Treatment Plan Each eyebrow is artistically designed based on your facial structure, features and desired result. Your Rahal physician also considers arch shape, thickness of hair, space between brows and brow length. 2. Minimally Invasive Graft Removal Using our proven fue hair transplant technique, 200+ grafts are removed from just above the ear using a small 0.8 millimeter in diameter instrument. The device creates a tiny circular incision around the follicular unit. The edge is grasped with forceps, and the graft is removed directly from the scalp. Incisions usually heal within a few days. 3. Grafts Are Inspected for Quality Every individual follicular unit is then inspected under microscopic control to ensure quality, avoid damage and increase hair yield for our patients.

After Picture: Final results of transplant

4. Placement of Grafts You are given local anesthesia in your eyebrow region, and your Rahal physician creates a tiny incision for every individual follicular unit. Each graft is then skillfully placed into the donor sites at the correct position and angle. The procedure takes only 2-3 hours. Because of the incredible results and reasonable procedure cost, eyebrow restoration is increasingly in high demand. Schedule a free consultation with a Rahal physician to learn how an eyebrow transplant can create beautifully shaped and permanent eyebrows using your own hair.
