by: Dan Corse 5:1 (NKJ) – Stand fast therefore in the liberty by which Christ has made you free, and do not be entangled again with a yoke of bondage. How blessed it is when Christians understand and experience the liberty or freedom that Christ by his birth, death and resurrection purchased for all who come to know Him as Savior. The antithesis of this liberty is bondage. Set free by Christ, believers are admonished not to be entangled again or ensnared by such bondage. Yet, tragically, such bondage occurs when we as Christians do not understand the parameters of our freedom in Christ, seek by religious legalism to procure the favor of God that we already possess in Christ, or use this freedom as an
excuse to sin, thereby experiencing the loss of freedom and resulting bondage associated with sin. Let us begin by considering the first challenge to experiencing our liberty or freedom in Christ that of failing to understand its parameters. Foundationally related to this discussion, John 8:36 (NKJ) reminds us, “Therefore if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed.” Based on this and other verses, it is imperative as Christians to remember: 1. Liberty or freedom in Christ is already legally ours. 2. Our understanding of this freedom grows experientially as we continue in His word (John 8:31-32) and grow in grace. When we speak of our liberty or freedom in Christ, some might ask, “What exactly are we referring to?” Liberty is the Greek
eleutheria. It refers to the nature of our relationship with Christ, which Paul in Galatians contrasted with Old Testament believers under the law. Eleutheria speaks of “freedom from slavery, independence…freedom of access,” empowering us “to serve” Him “in all the ways that are consistent with His word, will, nature, and holiness” (Word Wealth from the New Spirit Filled Life Bible). Under the law Old Testament believers did not experience liberty or freedom as we do in Christ.
They did not have the right of self-determination or freedom of action that we can now experience. That is true because Christ, who by His life fulfilled the law, empowers we who come to know Him as Savior to experience freedom, which includes freedom from seeking righteousness or right standing with God via the law. Such freedom does not suggest that the law was unholy, for Romans 7:12 (KJV) states, “Therefore the law is holy, and the commandment holy and just and good.” However, God chose to impute or impart righteousness by faith. Romans 3:21-22 (NKJ) declares the righteousness of God which is by faith, “But now the righteousness of God apart from the law is revealed, being witnessed by the Law and the Prophets, even the righteousness of God, through faith in Jesus Chris, to all and on all who
believe.” Clearly, righteousness or right standing with God is for all who believe (pisteuo), believe being the verb form of the noun faith (pistis). Believing is the action of faith. That being said, what then was the relationship of the law and faith? Galatians 3:23-25 (NKJ) elaborates on the relationship of the law and faith: “But before faith came, we were kept under guard by the law, kept for the faith which afterwards would be revealed. Therefore the law was our tutor to bring us to Christ, that we might be justified by faith. But after faith has come, we are no longer under a tutor.” The law served as a tutor or pedagogue until faith came. However, when faith came believers were justified or made righteous by it and found themselves no longer under the tutor or pedagogue, the law.
Sadly, many Christians, rather than being led by the Spirit, embracing and growing in their understanding of the freedom we have in Christ, seek by legalism to assure their right standing or salvation. Though Christ by His death, burial and resurrection fully purchased our salvation, religious legalists try by often man-made rules and actions to assist God in earning their salvation or gaining His favor. Those who embrace legalism either are unaware of or ignore the fact that in Christ we are justified, legally made righteous, in right relationship with God. Justified by faith, there is nothing we can do to further assure that we are in right relationship or standing with God. That being so, rules, often related to such things as dress and other external factors, have no bearing on our salvation.
When it comes to dress, surely a biblical case can and should be made for moderation, meaning blatantly ostentatious and sexually provocative clothing do not reflect holiness. Thus, such clothing should be avoided. However, neither are personal tastes in clothing to be brandied about as God’s measure of holiness. Those who prefer formal dress like suits and ties are no more or less holy than those who prefer more casual dress and vice versa. Tragically, the body of Christ, rather than accurately walking in liberty, has often allowed such things to produce bondage, strife and divide the body in many unnecessary ways. Commenting on issues often related to legalism, Colossians 2:16-17 (NKJ) states, “So let no one judge you in food or in drink, or regarding a festival (feast day) or a new moon or Sabbaths, which are a shadow of things to come, but the substance is of Christ.” Related to the latter times, the days in which we live, Paul spoke of issues related to what we eat, “For every creature of God is good, and nothing is to be refused if it is received with thanksgiving; for is
sanctified by the word of God and prayer” (1Tim.4:45) When it comes to feast days, new moons or Sabbaths, there are among us those who seek to assure us that our keeping of such things are paramount to holiness and our growth in grace. Such things surely served as shadows but the substance is of Christ. Under the law they pointed to Christ but by His incarnation and substitutionary work they were all fulfilled in Him. Whether we do or do not observe such things has no bearing whatsoever on our salvation; nor if we observe such things should we insist that others do so as well. As was previously stated, salvation if all about faith in Christ, faith that results in our spiritual regeneration (being born again or born from above) and being made righteous, in right standing or relationship with God (2 Cor. 5:21). Legalism, rather than enhancing our walk with Christ, instead leads to bondage. Of such things Colossians 2:23 (NKJ) comments, “These things indeed have an appearance of wisdom in self-imposed religion, false humility, and neglect of the body, but are of no value against the indulgence of the flesh.” That which does not
empower us to “reckon” ourselves “to be dead indeed to sin, but alive to God in Christ our Lord” may have the appearance of spirituality, but in actuality is nothing more than bondage. That being so let us recognize and avoid such things. Yet sometimes what others do or do not do is not about a desire to conform to some type of legalistic bondage but is instead a matter of conscience. Those who do or do not do something based on conscience seek to not fall prey to what they regard as sin. They are seeking to walk in faith for what is not of faith is sin (Rom. 14:23). Related to those who for conscience sake seek not to sin, we who walk in greater understanding of our liberty or freedom in Christ should not condemn them. That means the love of Christ in us would not have place a stumbling block before them by flaunting before them our freedom in Christ. In such cases the love of Christ would have us consider the conscience of others before we consider our own (Rom. 10:23-29). As our liberty or freedom in Christ should not be used as an excuse to ignore the consciences of others neither should we ever use it us excuse to serve the flesh and
sin. As Galatians 5:13 (NKJ) reminds us, “For you, brethren, have been called to liberty; only do not use liberty as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another.” Likewise, Romans 6:1-2 assures us that sinning is not for appropriating a greater abundance of God’s grace in our lives; sin ultimately brings about bondage and detrimental consequences. As Galatians 5:24-25 (NKJ) reminds us, “And those who are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.” Romans 8:6 (NKJ) adds, “For to be carnally (fleshly) minded is death, but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.” Sadly, some today teach grace in a manner that suggests sinning is not an issue. Such teaching clearly contradicts Titus 2:11-12 (NKJ), “For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men, teaching us that denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and
godly in the present age.” Grace accurately taught does not deny or minimalize the effect of sin in our lives: it teaches us to deny ungodliness and worldly lusts. Teachings that inaccurately portray grace as a license to deny or minimalize the troubling consequences of sin should be rejected, as should teachings that keep us bound to sins that God via our repentance has forgiven, thereby making us prey to the bondage of condemnation. We arm ourselves to stand against condemnation when we confess our sins to God 1, John 1:9 (NKJ) declaring, “He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” Forgiven and cleansed from all unrighteousness, let us reject errant teachings related to our sinning or those that bring about the bondage of condemnation related to sins for which we have been forgiven.
Not yielding to the bondage brought about by sin or condemnation, may we strive via His grace to be experience the “life and peace” associated with being spiritually-minded (Rom. 8:6). May we always acknowledge what is biblically apparent. Legally speaking, that is to understand and confess the freedom that we have in Christ. Yet, not content to stop there, let us desire to continue in God’s word and experience growth in our understanding of that liberty or freedom. Understanding and growing in that knowledge are not about seeking to walk in the bondage of religious legalism. Nor is it about trampling on the consciences of others or using our liberty as an excuse to sin. Rather, may we seek to walk in love by serving others. Doing so, we will experience the blessedness of the truth that those whom the Son sets free are free indeed.

No matter how you label it… It means something special to us who not only live in this country but who have fallen in love with a country and served even unto death for that connection to the founding spirit that makes patriotism real. We have shared the same faith walk of the founders of this country…and found God in our Love and devotion to our country. Yes like politics they argued…that religion and politics sometime meet and agree so we also in our walk testifying and sharing the Good News…the same good news I may say that the founders of this country came here to express…each group in their own way But one thing…one thing remains from that day…what we have in common is the journey and legacy of religious freedomto worship, and a new
beginning …It would seem to be very hard to express what that means in one thought. After reading writings from the Founding fathers it occurred to me that it’s all about one thing …a person named Jesus. They all were called out to be Christians…and what they believe in is justification by faith - -that through their belief in Jesus as the Son of God, and in his death and resurrection, they can have a right relationship with God whose forgiveness was made once and for all through the death of Jesus Christ…as revealed in the Bible and testimony of many followers who have gone before us. They believed God in His Word and when they read in Psalm 33:12 “Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD, The people whom He has chosen for His own inheritance.” They knew the key to success was in founding on His principles …they felt God
had brought them here …that they were chosen for His own inheritance… God So loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son…Jesus so that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. Now I was blessed tolive for a season near the Jamestown colony and got to visit and study the cuisine of those first settlers. Also ate colonial inspired dishes in Williamsburg. and hope eating something like this could inspire dinner table conversations about such a time and how God was there working His plans for us, and seeing the Love for country being true Love…and we know God is Love…Independence? Yes but by Dependence on Our Father’s provision “O taste and see that the Lord is good; How blessed is the man who takes refuge in Him!” Psalm 34:8.
If you have cooked an omelet this will be helpful; But I
have some tips to make this recipe more…user friendly? I quote from the original: The Complete Housewife: Or, Accomplished Gentlewoman’s Companion, 1742 (the first cookbook published in the US)
“Take three pippins, slice them round in thin slices, and fry them with butter; then beat four eggs, with six spoonfuls of cream, a little rosewater, nutmeg, and sugar; stir them together, and pour it over the apples; let it fry a little, and turn it with a pye-plate. Garnish with lemon and sugar strew'd over it.” The tips being: if no pippins, any apple with a little tartness. Over a Medium Hot burner Use 3 tablespoons of butter & heat till almost brown add apples and turn often till apples start browning. Now making a custard…beat eggs and heavy cream. Don’t worry about the rosewater it is a delicate flavor if you have some make sure it is CULINARY rosewater only about 1/2 teaspoon. About a third of a nutmeg or a good teaspoon of already ground, and 2 Tablespoons sugar. OK so now you are making an omelet reduce heat to medium and stir it often till it starts to come together, check for brownness. Flip it or turn it by putting a pie plate over the Tansey and turning it over in one quick motion, then sliding it back into the pan. Make sure it is very brown. For a no flip option place it under your oven’s broiler until the top is very brown. Think of this as making Apple French Toast…serve on a plate. Now personal tip, since I had to get a ½ pt minimum of cream for the 6 teaspoons for the Tansey, whip the rest of it as sweet as you like and top the Tansey with that or powdered sugar and lemon wedges to garnish. Ask your guests to squeeze a little lemon over the Tansey….

GOD and COUNTRY For our 4th of July celebration, we honor Aubrey Johnson. He entered into the military on July 7, 1944. He served in the Army branch as a Combat Medic on the island of Luzon in the South Pacific. Aubrey Johnson is not only a veteran for the United States Army, but also in God’s army. Aubrey has been a minister for most of his life.
by: Dr. Bill Hanshew John 8:32 says, “And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” When we think of freedom, many people ponder the freedoms a particular nation can afford them. For example, in the United States of America, people often give credibility to its military personnel who have labored endlessly for over 200 years, to maintain freedom for the citizens of this country. However, no military can fight for, nor can any government pass any laws that could ever provide any degree of freedom that would last for an eternity. Now, there are two types of freedom a Christian can experience. One is the freedom that instantly comes when you are born again. The other type is the freedom that comes through gaining continuous knowledge from God’s Word. And John 8:32 speaks of becoming acquainted with a truth that
is able to make a person free. But then John 8:36 says, “Therefore if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed” or really and truly free. But when it comes to eternal freedom, this begins the very moment you accept Jesus into your heart and life, as your personal Lord and Savior. And eternity is not simply a matter of becoming a Christian by confessing your sins to God. It also involves experiencing the life of Jesus here on this earth, by getting to know more about God. Then comes experiencing an eternity with God, forever and ever. The Bible tells us that Jesus is the Word made flesh (John 1:14), or in other words, Jesus is the Living Word. So, the more of God’s Word you become acquainted with, the more of the life Jesus you experience. In other words, the more you get to know God, the more
His truth continues to make you free. Romans 8:2 says, “For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death.” In other words, we are not only free from sin for the duration of what our natural body is able to endure in this life-time; but through Jesus Christ, we now have gained a freedom that lasts beyond this physical realm. So, while we are here in this natural life, getting to know God’s Word helps us become more familiar with God; who He is and how He
thinks. But remember this; to know God is to know His Word, and to know God’s Word, is to know God. So, if God lasts forever, which we call eternity, and then we are promised an everlasting life with Him, which is in an eternal heaven. Simply put, eternal life means, a life that lasts for an eternity. This concept is hard for some people to wrap their mind around. They are limited by their own human thinking and reasoning, so they have to go beyond the limits of their own mind, and start thinking like God thinks. 2 Timothy 1:9 says, “who has saved us and called us with a holy calling, not according to our works, but according to His own purpose and grace which was given to us in Christ Jesus before time began,” What makes people eternally free is the fact that the Son of God came down from
heaven, to the earth, in the form of a man, and went to a place of death. He gave up His very own human life as a sacrifice for all. In other words, when Jesus gave His life, it was for a payment for the entire sin-debt of all mankind. Jesus didn’t owe it, but He paid it anyway. And therefore, our eternal freedom was purchased. Wow, what an exchange. Anyone who accepts Jesus into their life, are those who enter into His eternal life. In Acts 16, Paul and Silas were once asked a question about being saved. They said to the man and his family, “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved, you and your household” (Acts 16:31). When John 8:32 said that you will know the truth and it will make you free, it is dependent upon a person confessing with their mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believing in their heart that God raised Jesus from the
dead (Romans 10:9). This is the biblical criteria for one to be saved or born again. And a born again believer will be with God, not only for a natural life-time; but for His life-time, which never ends. Today, many people are sick, diseased and some are even bound by wheel chairs or other devices. Some people are bound by the addictions of drug and alcohol, or many other things. If that is you, then know that only Jesus can make you really and truly free. Bondage can come in many forms, but being eternal free only comes in one form and one way, and that is through Jesus Christ. You might think that freedom comes by living in a country that provides freedom for its citizens. But you are citizens of heaven, and in God’s Kingdom we have the freedoms promised in God’s Word 1 Peter 1:23 says, “having been born again, not of corruptible seed but
incorruptible, through the word of God which lives and abides forever.” And Matthew 24:35 says, “Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will by
no means pass away.” If you want to experience a freedom that will last forever; simply embrace it by faith, and on the basis that God Himself, “so loved the world that He
gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life” (John 3:16). … Think about it!
FREEDOM TO
KINGDOM OF
by: Rev Melissa Shepherd When Jesus began His ministry, the first words he spoke were: “Repent: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.” Matt 4:17
He began his ministry of demonstrating this new kingdom by preaching repentance and by healing all that were sick, diseased, maimed, blind, demon possessed and paralyzed. He taught the principles of the kingdom of heaven: to love God, your neighbor and your enemies, to walk in faith, to be filled with the power and wisdom of God himself, to live with all of your physical needs met, to live with all of your financial needs met, to have the fullness of the Holy Spirit to dwell in you and do miracles and wonders, to do all the works that He did on earth and more, to share the Gospel of the Kingdom of Heaven, and to reconcile mankind with God. Matt
5:43-45, John 13:34-35, Mark 12:30-31. presence and essence of God Himself in us by His Spirit. We begin to see evidence of that change immediately when we are born-again! Suddenly, we experience the love of God, and know that He desires good for us! After being born-again, the new nature of the spirit within begins to desire to live and love as Jesus did. A hunger is born to learn of this new great gift inside and of this new Kingdom. We find ourselves no longer encumbered by the power of the world’s ways, or the pull of temptations in the flesh. In the great moments of pressure by the world or the flesh to conduct ourselves by the laws of darkness vs. the laws of light, we bornagain creations can simply choose light. When we are born-again, the sin nature, or the kingdom of
darkness, is removed and sin has no more dominion over the believer. Romans 6:14-23 This Kingdom of Heaven begins to operate immediately when we believe in Jesus. When we say yes to Him, and receive Him, the Bible tells us that we receive God himself. Matt 10:40 Jesus instructed His believers to “Go, preach, the Kingdom of Heaven is here now. Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse the leper,
LIVE IN THE
OF HEAVEN freely you have received, freely give.� Matt 10:7-8 Every believer has the Life and Spirit of God residing inside them. They must only begin to release that Life and Spirit for the principles of the Kingdom of Heaven to manifest. Many people do not know what exactly they received when they were bornagain, nor did they learn how to let God and His Kingdom to touch people through them. This lack of knowledge is why many born-again people do not fully walk into the divine operations of God. Jesus taught on this principle with the parable of the sower in Matt 13:18-23. He discussed why some people will only bear fruit of thirty fold, sixty fold or one hundred fold in the Kingdom of God, some will not understand the Kingdom words, or some will be persecuted because
of the Kingdom words, and some will get sidetracked by the care of life and other things that cause them to not operate in the Kingdom of Heaven words or principles. The one hundred fold described is the capability to walk in the fullness of the fruits of the Kingdom of Heaven, like Jesus did. This capability is available to all believers, but some will not fully embrace and cultivate the Kingdom of Heaven principles in their lives. There are examples of believers who were able to embrace the fullness of this Kingdom principle and we see the evidence of that in the many revivalists that have emerged in various cultures throughout the world since the time of Jesus. Modern revivalists like Smith Wigglesworth, Maria Woodworth-Etter, William Seymour, Evan
Roberts and others received the revelation of the Kingdom of heaven and began to operate in the supernatural wonders of God bringing many to be reconciled to God and helping them receive the gifts of the Kingdom like healings and miracles. We receive many reports of revivals and powerful evangelistic outpourings in many nations today where the people are seeing the same types of miracles as Jesus did when He walked the earth. Say YES to God and learn the ways of the Kingdom of Heaven and He will use you to bring the Kingdom of Heaven to the people of earth. It is your destiny as a believer! 4

There are differences of ministries, but the same Lord. 6 And there are diversities of activities, but it is the same God who works all in all. 7 But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to each one for the profit of all: 8 for to one is given the word of wisdom through the Spirit, to
another the word of knowledge through the same Spirit,\ 9 to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healings by the same Spirit, 10 to another the working of miracles, to another prophecy, to another discerning of spirits, to another different kinds of tongues, to another the interpretation of tongues,

But one and the same Spirit works all these things, distributing to each one individually as He wills. 1 Corinthians 12;411 Go and preach that the Kingdom of Heaven is here now! Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse the leper, freely you have received, freely give! Matt 10:7-8 You are free to live in the Kingdom of Heaven now!

We also gave them a Gospel tract and good candy! It was so heartwarming to see the children and parents smiling and even crying as the Lord touched them at our doorstep as we prayed with them. One mother asked us to pray for her 10-year-old son who was at home very sick. This mom cried big tears as we prayed for her son and sweetly said, “Thank you for caring enough to pray.” As we watched her tears, we were reminded of what Jesus said, “Whoever in My name and for My sake accepts and receives and welcomes one such child also accepts and receives and welcomes Me and whoever so receives Me, receives not only Me, but also Him who sent Me.” Mark 9:37

by: Leon Gosiewski When we talk about freedom, being free or being set free we are, by definition saying that there was or is something that we are actually freed from. In this sense freedom is specific to a certain condition or state that we may have found ourselves in but now we are finally freed from. Undeniably when we look at the various definitions of freedom we discover that it is often described as a state of being free from confinement or restraint. It is about a person being released from external controls, interventions and regulations. It may also be about being given the power or freedom to decide one’s own actions without restraint and so in this sense it becomes the absence of or release from ties and obligations of bondage or servitude. Although our experiences are different I guess many of us will in one way or another easily recognize these definitions but our understanding of freedom may arise from different perspectives. The question
though is this, ‘are we ever totally free?’ Freedom means different things to different people. It is also different in different contexts and environments such as freedom of speech, financial freedom, behavior freedom or religious freedom. None of these are free in all circumstances, places, cultures and environments. A wise person once said, ‘there is only freedom in restriction’ (anonymous). Is that true? In his gospel message explaining the world’s need for God the prolific New Testament writer Paul wrote these stunning words: ‘For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has set you free from the law of sin and of death’ (Romans 8: 2). In this statement Paul brings us to a spiritual reality of human existence, we live under the shadow of laws. There are for example the laws of the land, laws of society or laws such as ‘honour amongst thieves’ and not ‘grassing on your
mates’. But more pointedly and importantly is the law of the Spirit and law of sin and death. Each of these place restrictions on us and so we function within the freedom that these restrictions allow. To the Corinthian church Paul said, ‘Now the Lord is the Spirit,1 and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom’ (2 Corinthians 3: 17) but he qualified this in his words to the Galatians saying, ‘You, my brothers and sisters, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the flesh; rather, serve one another humbly in love’ (Galatians 5: 13). Although as Christian believers we were gloriously set free by Jesus from the law of sin and death there is nonetheless an expectation placed upon us in this freedom to serve one another humbly in love. It is
not a freedom to do as we will. The paradox of Scripture is that as true Christian believers we serve one another. We become servants of the Lord and humbly acquiesce so that the person we are decreases whilst the Lord in us increases. The Kingdom principle is that the last become first and the first become last (reference Matthew 19: 30 & 20: 16). So with these thoughts in mind let’s take a closer look at what Paul is saying. The Law of the Spirit Christians are free; they are not controlled. A controlling and oppressive spirit only comes from satan and it is best seen through the characteristics of controlling and oppressive people, the slavery of addiction and oppression of sickness. Satan controls all those who are not set free by the blood of Calvary and his control has a purpose
which Jesus explained in this way: ‘The thief (satan) comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I come that they may have life, and have it abundantly’ (John 10: 10). Satan’s end game is to bind people to sin and spiritual death but Jesus gives spiritual life. The blood of Calvary releases Christian believers from the control and oppression of satan. We are therefore set free from sin and death to serve God. But in this freedom the Christian believer pays a cost and willingly becomes a slave to Christ (reference 1 Corinthians 7: 22) who owns them. The Greek word for slave used in this verse is doulos and it means to willingly give oneself up to
another’s will or devote oneself to another to the point of disregard for one’s own interests. There is no controlling spirit with God. He is love. His purpose is love and His actions are love, His wish is to lead us in love to a room in the Kingdom of Heaven. Serving God is then to willingly ‘keep his commands. And his commands are not burdensome’ (1 John 5: 3). Christian believers make a free choice, the depth and significance of which I cannot express better than through the words of Hebrews 2: 14, 15 which says: ‘Since therefore the children share in flesh and blood, he himself likewise partook of the same nature, that through death he might destroy him who has the power of death, that is, the devil, and deliver all those who through fear of
death were subject lifelong bondage’.

Paul explained this ownership to the Corinthian church saying, ‘Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, which you have from God? You are not your own; you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body’ (1 Corinthians 6: 19, 20). The law of the Spirit is that we are specifically set apart to live as the ‘salt of the earth’ and the ‘light of the world’ (reference Matthew 5: 13, 14). The law of the Spirit sets us free from the law of sin and death. That means that although the law of sin is in us it no longer has power over us, it dies, its power goes. This is why Paul said, ‘Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has passed away, behold, the new has come’ (1 Corinthians 5: 17). We now live according to the Spirit and not the flesh. Sin does not reign in our bodies because those born of God cease to practice sin (reference 1 John 3:9). Although Christians are graciously set free the tragedy of this fact is that most do not live in that freedom. Many still hold on
to and live according to the flesh which they keep alive by allowing satan a foothold. No Christian believer can receive all that God wants to give them whilst a rebellious streak remains because of the abuse of His love that removed the control that satan placed over our freewill. No Christian believer can walk in the supernatural power of God unless they are totally humbled, broken and surrendered to the point where they can say, ‘I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me; and the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me’ (Galatians 2: 20). The Law of Sin and Death Those that are not saved by the blood of Jesus live according to the flesh and they live under the spirit law of sin and death that they were born into. They are in this sense owned by and under the control of satan. Their free-will is in reality restricted and made subject to satan’s control and so without often realising it they live according to his ways. The compelling law of life is that if our minds are
steadfastly set on worldliness (the flesh) we will live according to the world. But if our minds are purposefully concentrated on the Spirit we will live according to the Spirit. The net result is that when we let our sinful nature control your mind it leads to death. But when we let the Spirit control our mind it leads to life and peace (reference Romans 8: 6). What I am trying to say is that unbelievers are not free – they are owned, controlled and deceived by satan who is in every way opposed to God. Satan is sin and sin is satan and so for our sakes this is why, ‘Scripture declares that the whole world is a prisoner of sin,1 so that what was promised, being given through faith in Jesus Christ, might be given to those who believe’ (Galatians 3: 22). You see, sin has a price attached to it which Paul described when he said, ‘the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord’ (Romans 6: 23). The price for sin in our lives was once and for all paid by Jesus. The cost of freedom Freedom has a cost that at some stage was paid by someone. Someone stood up
and despite opposition, hurt and pain attained freedom. Soldiers on the battlefield paid with their lives for social freedom. Jesus paid with His life on the cross for our spiritual freedom. Just as we honour those that have attained freedom or
died for our freedom in memorial services or with celebrations of fireworks, parades and festive carnivals how much more should we give praise and honour to our blessed Lord and saviour? What better honour can we give to God than to lay down our lives, walk by the Spirit

means different things to different people. To some, freedom means doing the things that they want to do and not listening to others. To others, it means being the person that they think they are. To them, it means expressing themselves in any way that they can. The world and the devil lie to people and distort what freedom really means. Sadly, people believe that living a lifestyle of sin is freedom, but in reality it is bondage. John 8:36 says, “If the Son sets you free you are truly free.” Therefore, TRUE freedom is being made free by the Lord Jesus Christ. We must find out who we are in Christ and from what Jesus has made us free.
When someone receives Jesus as their Lord and Savior, they don't have to be bound by a lifestyle of sin. This isn't something that we do; it's something that Jesus has already done. His Spirit makes us a new creation on the inside. We don't struggle and fight to do what's right; we just yield to the Holy Spirit and the Word of God. More and more, we'll live out on the outside, the new creation that He has made us on the inside. Jesus doesn't focus on our sin. Sin doesn't define us. I hear many Christians say that we are all sinners, but that is not what God's Word says. We all sin and miss the mark at times, but a sinner isn't who we are anymore, if we are born again.
2 Corinthians 5:17 says, “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ he is a new creation, old things have passed away; behold all things have become new.” 2 Corinthians 5:21 says, “God made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, so that in Him we might be made the righteousness of God.” He sees us through what Jesus has accomplished for us. We need to see ourselves the same way. Proverbs 23:7 says, “As a person thinks in his heart; so is he.” How a person thinks and believes could be the farthest thing from the truth, but they will behave the way they think and believe. If you see yourself as a sinner, struggling with sin; that is how you will live. See yourself as righteous because
that's who Jesus has made you! Romans 6:14 says, “Sin shall not have dominion over you for you are not under the law, but under grace.� Grace isn't a license to sin, but freedom from sin. His grace made us free from sin. In order to live out this freedom, we must see ourselves as free because we
truly are. We are not sinners anymore, but new creations. Get into God's Word regularly, confess and believe who you are. Don't feel weird, or ashamed to say and believe good things about yourself. Jesus accomplished so much for YOU! It's because of what He has done! He made us worthy. Make it personal because what Jesus did is for
you! This is how He sees you. You'll then live out what His word says about you more and more. As America celebrates freedom this month on July 4th, take time to reflect on and thank the Lord for the freedom that you have as a human being. Don't stop there, reflect on, and thank the Lord for the freedom you have as a Christian!

Some call it the Fourth of July, Independence Day or simply the birthday of the United States. I prefer to call it Freedom Day. I am in awe of this beautiful, great and powerful country. I love this nation and am so glad God selected this as the place where I have grown up, raised a family and are now enjoying time with my grandchildren. If there is anything we as parents and grandparents can leave our offspring, it is a deep respect and love for this country. It is not perfect, but when you look at the big global picture there isn't much we have to complain about by saying we are from the United States of America. Many times in our busy lives, we hardly realize that we receive a great deal more than we give, and that it is only with gratitude that life becomes richer. We do have much to be
thankful for. Whether it be for the roof above our heads, the meals in which partake, the ability to share with loved ones or the less fortunate, or just the presence of family and friends - none of these stand alone. God should be the foundation of our praise and thanksgiving. I do remain disappointed that some of our freedoms are continually being diluted away by our leaders, who seem destined to make this a nation that turns its back on our deep Christian roots. For the founders of our nation, the completion of the signing of the Declaration of Independence completed a very special day and years of turmoil, as well as plenty of blood, sweat and tears. This day on July 4, 1776, was a day of freedom for all. It was a day of unlimited opportunities. It was a day that religious freedom in our country was formally birthed. It was a day
that the founders had dreamed about and fought in battle and lost many lives to secure. It was day of answered prayer for many, a day to enjoy the freedom to pray unbridled from intervention by a governmental power in their homeland. After signing the Declaration of Independence, Samuel Adams, who is known as the "Father of the American Revolution" said, "We have this day restored to Sovereign to whom all men ought to be obedient. He reigns in Heaven and from the rising to the setting of the sun, let His Kingdom come."
Adams was a man of no small stature in the colonies. His views are widely known and he was not a closet Christian. He formed the Committees of Correspondence that unified the colonists preceding the Revolution; signed the Declaration of Independence; and served as Lieutenant Governor and Governor of Massachusetts." It was Adam's view that in declaring their independence from Great Britain, the colonists were placing themselves under the only true "sovereign", the King of Kings and the LORD of lords. Adams believed that as God "reigns in Heaven" it was His desire to further His Kingdom in the New World "from the rising to the setting of the sun." On July 3, 1776, the day following Congress' approval of the Declaration of Independence – John Adams – a signer of the Declaration and later our president wrote the following to his wife Abigail: "The second day of July, 1776, will be the most memorable epoch in the history of America. I am apt

These suicide attacks on our nation that produced horrific carnage stunned the world and caused many to turn for consolation to spiritual faith and God's Holy Word. This just wasn't an attack on the United States. More than 90 countries lost citizens in the attacks on the World Trade Center alone. In different degrees we all experienced a kind of emotional meltdown that day and for some time afterward. The pain and grief of 9/11 has moderated some, but still the horrors of that remain real. of our freedoms through legislation, we remain steadfast in our love of God, our pursuit of liberty and we give thanks to the precious Lord for blessing this nation’s founders with a desire to be free, free at last. Thousands of Americans have died on battlegrounds to preserve those freedoms that were written about in the Declaration of Independence. My late father, Francis Nicholas Schneider, like so many of our parents, was a veteran of World War II. He served in the Pacific Theatre in the U.S. Army Air Corps. I am so proud of his service to this nation and as a daily reminder of the sacrifices he made to help preserve the freedoms that we enjoy today, I carry his 'dog tags' attached to my keychain.
When I am feeling alone, I can simply rub my fingers across the letters of his name and serial numbers that are etched in the small metal tag. In my own way, it gives me security and is a simple nudge knowing that I am carrying something he carried during four years of service for our country. There have been recent times where our faith and security in our nation has been tested, but not deterred. On Sept. 11, 2001, 19 cowardly terrorists flew commercial planes into the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center in New York, the Pentagon in Washington D.C., and a failed attempt that crashed in a field in Pennsylvania. The September 11 attacks resulted in 2,996 immediate deaths: 2,977 victims and the 19 hijackers.
The wise know that there can be such a thing as good grief—not that tragedy and death are good, certainly, but that there can nevertheless be something good coming out of the pain that follows them. Good grief finds hope grounded in truth. It’s a much large challenge when violence and tragedy strike on the scale of Sept. 11, 2001, but the principle remains the same. We must not let something like 9/11 make us run from God's truth, when what we need is to run toward it all the more. One part of that unwavering truth is that evil is real. We all saw the manifestation of evil that historic day. We have new impending threats from terrorists groups like ISIS, who
seek out and kill Christians as modern day sacrifices. We need to pray against those threats and urge our leaders to do away with a lamb's approach to dealing with these vicious murders. Now is the time to show strength and power to eradicate the earth of these vicious killers who target our Christian brothers and sisters. Let us take comfort on this day from the words that Paul etched in Philippians 1:9-11 (NIV) “And this is my prayer: that your love may abound more and more in knowledge and depth of insight, so that you may be able to discern what is best and may be pure and blameless for the day of Christ, filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ — to the glory and praise of God.� On this national Freedom Day let us remember the many innocent lives lost that day and the lessons learned that day. This nation was rocked on 911, but let it be said and remembered that the U.S.A. still stands strong, a blessed
nation where freedom reigns and in God's holy name is where our trust lies. Let us never forget what we felt that day on our home soil; for the memory of that hurt and sorrow will make us strong in our faith. We were punched, but we arose from the disappointment and shock of that blow to the depths of our souls. Our nation needs to have the faith of the Canaanite woman that we read about in Matthew 15:21-28. Let us keep kneeling before God and praying that God will hear our cry. We need to be persistent in praying for our great country and its leaders. Many of the leaders are misguided, but through prayer we have hope that they might
see the ways of God on which this country was founded. We are blessed to be Americans and residents of this great land. It's not perfect, but better than other lands. We are a melting pot of immigrants who took a chance to come to this country for a chance to do better for their families and generations to come. Our prayer on this day as Christians ought to be to get government out of our lives and keep its greedy hands off our freedoms. It might be wise for those on Capitol Hill, those sitting on all of our judicial courts and those residing in the White House to dust off a copy and read the Declaration of Independence and work every day to restore what our forefathers intended, as well as the liberties that their signatures on this historic document represented. Nonetheless, let us thank the Lord for blessing this country that we proudly call the United States of America!

I had great plans to cheerfully go into the great military feats of all the soldiers of all the wars that have continued giving us the right to live in this great country in freedom and security. I’ve come to the conclusion it’s not actually a right, it’s more of a profound privilege. Oh, we do have a Bill of Rights and a Constitution, but if our expressing ourselves in unhealthy or destructive ways as our “rights” is how we handle it, then we’ve missed it. We’ve made the sacrifices our amazing military have given through these many decades nearly of “none affect.” I now believe we have to earn what the soldiers fought for us to have; freedom. We have to earn it by respecting the awesome responsibility that goes with it; life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness, but not at the expense of others. Not by demanding other’s “rights” are removed. Not by reinventing the meanings of words and terms that have always meant specific things; redefining things in the Constitution to place a spin on them to take us down a different path than our forefathers intended in order to produce a desired end politically. We have to earn our right to be free by guarding the great documents that laid the foundation for this nation with kid gloves, and not allow them to be twisted and
rewritten to suit a purpose not in the interest of the United States of America. We have allowed public entities in the form of media and politicians to spin stories about racial tension and the police far beyond the problems that actually exist and turn it into a racialflavored circus that in many cases that don’t actually start out that way. We have fed into the anger and bewilderment in Ferguson and Baltimore and others by supplying more fuel of anger. Did we stop and ask Holy Spirit how we should respond? I’m not talking about Americans. I’m not even talking about American Christians. I am talking about Christian Americans…there is a difference, you see where “Christian” comes before “American”, and color and gender has nothing to do with it. As the Body of Christ, how many opportunities are we grabbing to show Jesus to the world and what makes us different in these situations? Many of the families of the victims in Charleston are reaching out in forgiveness, yes, forgiveness, based on their absolute faith in our Lord. Can we stop playing into what we’re being presented on our TV and computer screens and pray for our country; our soldiers, these horrible situations, and respond as the Holy Spirit leads and not how the media and politics lead? Can we truly stand up against a true wrongdoing in a Biblical way? Can we honor our military’s sacrifice by supporting the home front while we still have the freedom to do it? Can we stop blame shifting and finger pointing? The Bible tells us it’s really not “flesh and blood” that we war against. Let’s try to see the REAL enemy behind all this and confront him and his little army with Truth. Independence Day is a beginning of sorts; each year we celebrate our history. I challenge us to celebrate this year with a commitment to really support our country by praying diligently over it, speaking up ONLY when the Lord leads, loving, forgiving, walking in mercy, and standing strong.

Freedom to Choose by: Briana Bishop Imagine if we were all robots programmed to obey every command of the Master! God could have designed us this way, but He didn't want our relationship with Him to be of dictatorship and control. He didn't want us to serve Him because we simply had no choice. He loves us so much that He designed us to have a free will. The New Living translation of Deuteronomy 30:19 says, “Today I have given you the choice between life and death, between blessings and curses. Now I call on heaven and earth to witness the choice you make. Oh that you would choose life, so that you and your descendants might live!� He gave us the freedom to choose, starting with Adam and Eve in the book of Genesis. We all know how that played out! In life we have to make choices every single day. Some are simple and some not so much. An example of an everyday choice that we have to make is what to eat for breakfast, an apple and water bottle or a candy bar and a can of soda. Each choice that we make has a consequence whether it be a good one or a bad one. For example, if you decided to eat that apple and drink a water bottle for breakfast it will give you the willpower to get you through that long school day, but if you make the choice to have the candy bar and soda, you may have all the energy in the world in that moment, but once second period hits all that sugar will have you feeling drained and you would have wished that you would've eaten that apple and drank that water bottle. I know all that sugar is just so tempting, your eyes came in contact with that oh so delicious candy bar and soda, craving it, so you finally give in.
That's how it is with sin, it just looks so tempting. Even magazines, books, TV shows, music, etc., are trying to sell it to you, glamorizing things like hooking up with that hot guy or girl, experimenting with homosexuality, immodest dress, smoking, just to name a few. What they are really glamorizing is death. Tell me, what's so glamorous about that? The King James version of Romans 6:23 says,” For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” Although God gave us a choice, He knows that sin will eventually kill you, so He's begging you to choose Him, choose life, so that you will live. He just loves you so much and when you don't choose Him, when you choose the things that your flesh lusts after, it devastates Him. Who wants someone they love so deeply to die? In reality your choices also reflect on just how much you love God. The New Living Translation of John 14:15 says,” If you love me, obey my commandments.” I'm not saying that if you mess up from time to time that you don't love God at all, what I'm saying is that if you really truly love Him, you will do your absolute best to obey Him. I think that we could all love God more. How much do you love God? If you have gone astray and have made some bad choices, you can repent. It's not too late to choose life, to choose God. Those choices that you made in the past did have consequences though and you can't change them. For example, let's say there's a girl named Susie. Susie had sex with her boyfriend and had an unwanted pregnancy. She decided to terminate the pregnancy. Susie can't change the consequence of that choice, but she can repent and God will forgive her. He will heal her heart; Susie can start a life full of forgiveness, so full of life, and love. It's not too late for Susie and it's not too late for you! You have a choice to make, what will it be?

On June 26, 2015, the Supreme Court ruled 5-4 that the Constitution guarantees a right to same-sex marriage. Faith Unlimited e-magazine does not agree with this ruling. by: Faye Hanshew, Editor As people celebrated, lights of rainbow were put on the White House in honor of this ruling. According to the Word of God, the rainbow represented FREEDOM NOT SIN! According to the Word of God, marriage is between a man and a woman, and the Word of God does not change its position just because the Supreme Court Judges do. They are human, and make mistakes just as other humans. As Christians, it is our duty to love all people, but it is not our job to agree with sin. Mark 7: 20-23 says, “And he said, “What comes out of a person is what defiles him. For from within, out of the heart of man, come evil thoughts, sexual immorality, theft, murder, adultery, coveting, wickedness, deceit, sensuality, envy, slander, pride, foolishness. All these evil things come from within, and they defile a person.” So, Christians, just because we are very disappointed in this new ruling, remember what Paul says in Ephesians 1: 15-23: “15 For this reason, ever since I heard about your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love for all God’s people, 16 I have not stopped giving thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers. 17 I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better. 18 I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in his holy people, 19 and his incomparably great power for us who believe. That power is the same as the mighty strength 20 he exerted when he raised Christ from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly realms, 21 far above all rule and authority, power and dominion, and every name that is invoked, not only in the present age but also in the one to come. 22 And God placed all things under his feet and appointed him to be head over everything for the church, 23 which is his body, the fullness of him who fills everything in every way.” Let us Love one another and win the lost for Jesus Christ!
