Fayetteville 2021 Community Survey off to a good start, open through December 3 Hundreds of people have already completed the Fayetteville 2021 Community Survey, and City leaders say they hope even more will take the opportunity to influence them on matters ranging on municipal utility customer service, capital improvements, public safety, and more. Those interested may access the survey at www.FayettevilleGA.gov/survey.
“This Community Survey serves as a consumer report card for the City by providing residents the opportunity to rate the quality of life in the City and their satisfaction with community amenities and local government,” said City Manager Ray Gibson. Survey answers are only used for the purposes of this study. Results will be reported in aggregate form only, and they
cannot be identified individually. Launched on October 8, the 2021 Community Survey will conclude on Friday, December 3, 2021. Results from the survey will be published in early 2022. Survey participants may enter a free drawing to win one of five pairs of Brightmoor Southern Ground Amphitheater tickets for select 2022 Concert Series concerts. Winners will be notified by e-mail or telephone.

Fayetteville’s Church Street Park to receive more improvements this year and next
Pictured with the new Church Street Park equipment are (l-r) Public Works crew leaders Keith Simon and Wes Howell along with maintenance workers Corey Dorsey and Carlos Calderon.
New benches, tables, and trash receptacles are being prepared for installation at Church Street Park in Downtown Fayetteville, and City officials say this is just the beginning of a new round of improvements in store for the beloved family gathering space. “We’re pretty excited about how this new equipment will look and function at Church Street Park,” said Assistant Public Services Director Cajen Rhodes. “Our Public Works employees have been assembling the equipment in our shop, and we’re getting ready to take it all over to the park soon for installation.” Rhodes noted that other improvements to Church Street Park in the last year have included a new picnic pavilion, commercialgrade basketball goals, and adjustments to relatively new playground equipment to make it more accessible for smaller
children. City officials are in talks to do more extensive playground work in the future, but Rhodes says the City will consult with industry vendors to get the best recommendations. “The City and community groups have done a lot to improve Church Street Park in recent years, and we’re happy we can do more soon to make it another fun and engaging space for our residents and guests,” said City Manager Ray Gibson. “I think it’s going to be a spectacular neighborhood park within the next year or so.” While on the subject of parks, Rhodes said the Public Works Division is also in the early stages of researching ways to make the City’s Patriot Park on Redwine Road more attractive to all ages. He noted it is used regularly by walkers and joggers who enjoy the scenic sidewalk that meanders through trees, flowers, and military 4 - October 2021
veteran memorial displays. He said more can be done to accentuate the existing, open-air exercise equipment, and he said the City is considering adding a children’s playground in the park space. “We have listened to the community over the last several years, and we heard loud and clear that people want great parks and more recreational opportunities here in the City of Fayetteville, and especially in our downtown area,” Gibson said. “We have just launched a new online Community Survey to capture more of that public sentiment, not just about parks, but about every aspect of the City of Fayetteville.” Updates on park improvement progress will be posted on www. Fayetteville-GA.gov/news. The 2021 Community Survey can be accessed at www.Fayetteville-GA. gov/survey.

CITY CENTER PARK UPGRADES CONTINUE, WALTON CONSTRUCTION TAKING SHAPE
Additional construction on the City Center Park playground is expected to be complete by the end of November.
The playground at Fayetteville’s City Center Park, located behind the new City Hall building, remains closed for additional improvements that will make the popular downtown destination even more enjoyable and engaging. Officially opened in midJuly, the playground at City Center Park features custom landscaping and play structures that appeal to children of all ages and abilities. One of the most popular attractions is the splash pad, which is now closed for the season. City officials say they expect the playground to reopen by the end of November, though the splash pad will remain closed
for the season. Other City Center Park attractions remain open, including the several picnic pavilions, the dog park, great lawn, and walking paths. “The community was enthusiastic about City Center Park well before we opened it in July,” said City Manager Ray Gibson. “It has been the perfect complement to our new City Hall, and we have loved seeing all of the children, families, and others enjoying the park over the past few months. Once these current upgrades are complete, they will have even more to enjoy.” Gibson noted that construction is almost complete on The Bus Barn, which will feature a microbrewery, specialty restaurants, October 2021 66- -August 2021
and event spaces. As well, Walton Communities is well into their construction of residential homes that will face City Center Park. “A few weeks ago, we welcomed The Dottie to City Center Park, and we love what Roundtown Collaborations did there with the historic Fayette County Gym building, and repurposing it into such an incredible event space,” Gibson said. “The Bus Barn promises to be just as amazing, and we can’t wait for it to open. “Next year, we’ll have our first residents living along City Center Park in the adjacent Walton Communities development,” Gibson continued. “It’s exciting to see.”
