City Manager Ray Gibson during the September 1 City Council meeting presented the Above and Beyond Award to several staff members for their work on the new City Hall & City Center Park project: Community & Economic Director David Rast, Public Services Director Chris Hindman, Finance Director Mike Bush, Technology Director Kelvin Joiner, Downtown Development Director Brian Wismer, Assistant City Manager and Fire Chief Alan Jones, and Executive Assistant and Deputy City Clerk Valerie Glass.

FIRE DEPARTMENT ALAN JONES Events - All shifts completed company-level inspection training. Projects - Chief Alan Jones and Deputy Chief Linda Black attended the strategic priorities meeting at City Hall. Chief Black attended a seminar with Vista Forge via Zoom and sponsored by the Atlanta-Fulton County Emergency Management Agency. Division Chief Keith Harris and the Community Risk Reduction Officer Core attended the district safety meeting with the Fayette County Board of Education. Daily cleaning and sanitizing of SCBA mask and regulators continue. Three applicant interviews conducted for open firefighter positions. Routine maintenance performed on Squad 9 (LOF). Awaiting date from Purchasing Department for water stations to be installed at fire stations 92 and 93. Monthly training report completed.
POLICE DEPARTMENT SCOTT GRAY ▶ Monday, August 30 - Departmental employees assisted with traffic for the WIC program and the Fayette County Health Department with a drivethrough farmers market at the location of 300 Lee Street. 400 vouchers were handed out. ▶ Tuesday, August 31 - Today was the last day for interest for specialty units. A meeting was held with Lexipol for policy review. ▶ Wednesday, September 1 - Chief Scott Gray and Deputy Chief Robert Mask attended training at City Hall. Captain Patty Kent attended a meeting about the 2021 Christmas Parade route. Departmental employees assisted with Meals on Wheels. ▶ Thursday, September 2 - Departmental employees attended the Southern Credit Union 10th Annual Select Employer Golf Tournament at Whitewater Creek Country Club. Fayetteville Police Department finished in First Place. Chief Gray attended the City Council meeting.

HUMAN RESOURCES DEPT. NELLA COOPER Personnel: Continue to update ClearCompany with Appraisals metrics. Maintaining a case spreadsheet of potential Pandemic cases involving City employees. Turn Over Report: There were no new-hires and one termination during the period of August 30 to September 5, 2021. There are 14 vacant positions: three in Fire Services, two in Public Services, and nine in the Police Department.
INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY KELVIN JOINER Work orders: 37 new, 62 closed. Projects: We are continuing to work on a list of technology needs for the new City Hall building; documents retention continued (working), Building records (scanning in progress), Court; Fleet Maintenance System (in-review); Occupational Tax online form project; Water and Public Works work order system (in-review); firewall upgrade (testing); reviewed and responded to numerous e-mails throughout the week having to do with City projects; upgrade finance system point of sales (in progress); e-mail upgrade. Meetings: Technology Department staff daily standing meeting; security meeting; staff meeting to define City’s goals; new software install

ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT BRIAN WISMER Economic Development: Attended and presented at the City Council work session. Received an update from the Georgia Department of Transportation that the construction bid evaluation is almost complete for the multi-use bridge/path project. Provided a letter of support to Southern Conservation Trust for a state grant application. Downtown Development Authority/Main Street: Continued marketing and logistics efforts for 2021 concerts. Site visit with prospective lessee at the Holliday Dorsey Fife House. Meeting with the Fayette County Historical Society and Southern Conservation Trust regarding remaining displays at the Holliday Dorsey Fife House. Meeting with Kiwanis regarding the October 16 beer festival. Attended the Strategic Priorities meeting with City staff. Held the bi-monthly City Park events meeting with park stakeholders. Continued work on Christmas decoration options for City Hall and City Center Park. Further review of amphitheater renovation plans. Continued review of Phase II wayfinding signage replacements.
PUBLIC SERVICES DEPT. CHRIS HINDMAN Public Works: Cut and maintained Helen Sams Parkway, South Jeff Davis Drive, White Road, Highway 314, East Lanier Avenue from Jeff Davis Drive to Knight Way, Lane Brown park, Highway 85 from the Courthouse Square to Dunkin Donuts and the medians, Stonewall Avenue from Melissa Segars Way to Jeff Davis Drive, Lanier Avenue West from Bennett Street to Tiger Trail, Church Street Park, and Church Street to the roundabout. Replaced street signs, stop signs, and posts in the Woodbyne subdivision, and installed various street signs throughout the city. Stormwater: Removed debris from the catch basin located at 220 Buckeye Lane. Sewer: Average daily flow treated was 2.08 million gallons per day; performed weekly maintenance at 26 lift station sites; maintained wastewater plant and remained in compliance of our permit requirements. Water: Average daily flow of 1.72 million gallons of system demand per day; repaired two water leaks; and maintained water plant and remained in compliance of our permit requirements.
