The Fayetteville Fire Department once again climbed Stone Mountain to commemorate the events of September 11, 2001, in honor of the public safety personnel who served and died that day. And once again, they were joined by fellow public safety personnel from all over the Atlanta area, who will never forget.

Meetings: Met with members of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority to present Women’s Equality Day proclamation. Attended a Pay & Class Study meeting. Attended the Fayette County 9-11 Tribute event at City Center Park. Projects: Scheduled volunteers/hours for the City Hall lobby reception area. Sent resolution for package store referendum to Legals at Fayette County News. Met with a surplus buyer at the old city hall building to remove items sold on the GovDeals auction. Tuesday, September 7 - Chief Scott Gray met with the Command Staff and updated them with current events and other information. Departmental employees attended the Pay & Class Study meetings throughout the week. Wednesday, September 8 - Departmental employees attended the Mothers Against Drunk Driving meeting at the College Football Hall of Fame in Atlanta. Officer Diana Snider received an award. Thursday, September 9 - Officers participated in the Ride of Honor, honoring first responders, presented by Southern Crescent Technical College. Departmental employees attended the Brightmoor Public Safety Luncheon at the American Legion Log Cabin. Friday, September 10 - Departmental employees attended the 9-11 Stone Mountain Climb with the Fayetteville Fire Department. Officer Charles Wilson and Kenneth Marcucci graduated from the Georgia Public Safety Training Center Academy. The Command Staff attended the ceremony, and both officers were also sworn in by Chief Gray. Reviewed the divisions’ weekly reports. Saturday, September 11 - Departmental employees attended the Fayette County 9-11 Tribute event at City Center Park.

HUMAN RESOURCES DEPT. NELLA COOPER Personnel: Updating materials for the Performance Management/ ClearCompany system. Maintaining a case spreadsheet of potential Pandemic cases involving City employees. Continuing to review and update various Administrative Policies for accuracy. Reviewing and updating proposed changes to the Personnel Manual. Conducted employee meetings with Management Advisory Group on the Compensation and Classification study. Preparing data in order to roll out training module provided to the City by Trident Insurance (our Property and Casualty carrier). Turn Over Report: There was one new-hire and no terminations during the period of September 6-12, 2021. There are 13 vacant positions: three in Fire Services, two in Public Services, and eight in the Police Department.
INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY KELVIN JOINER Work orders: 66 new, 60 closed. Projects: We are continuing to work on a list of technology needs for the new City Hall building; documents retention continued (working), Building records (scanning in progress), Occupational Tax (document prep and scanning in progress); Court (waiting for sources); Planning & Zoning (document prep in progress); Fleet Maintenance System (revamping); Occupational Tax online form project; Water utilities forms (pre-planning) Water and Public Works work order system (revamping); firewall upgrade (testing); upgrade finance system point of sales (in progress); e-mail upgrade (cleaning e-mails for processing). Meetings: Technology Department staff daily standing meeting; old city hall equipment review; fillable forms meeting; web pages implementation meeting; council lighting meeting.

ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT BRIAN WISMER Economic Development: Met with the new owners of the Fayette Place shopping center to discuss future redevelopment options. Downtown Development Authority/Main Street: Continued marketing and logistics efforts for 2021 concerts; final prep to hold the Fayette County 9-11 Tribute event and movie night on Saturday, September 11; continued work on Christmas decoration options for City Hall & City Center Park; internal staff training on ticketing and deposits/payables processing.
PUBLIC SERVICES DEPT. CHRIS HINDMAN Public Works: Cut and maintained Lester Road, Veterans Parkway, old city hall, New Hope Road, Jefferson Avenue, Lanier Avenue West between Grady Avenue and Tiger Trail, medians between Veterans Parkway and Sandy Creek Road, Jimmie Mayfield Boulevard medians, Hood Avenue roundabout, Dickson Springs Park, Highway 314 medians, Church Street Park, and 328 First Manassas Mile. Completed the trash run on Glynn Street North and Church Street Park, removed limbs and debris from the cart path. Installed signs on Commerce Drive. Attended a meeting at City Hall Sewer: Average daily flow treated was 2.04 million gallons per day; performed weekly maintenance at 26 lift station sites; maintained wastewater plant and remained in compliance of our permit requirements. Water: Average daily flow of 1.68 million gallons of system demand per day; repaired five water leaks; and maintained water plant and remained in compliance of our permit requirements.
