Dean Haun, Senior Pastor OUR GREAT CHOIR has knocked the ball out of the park in their latest CD. It is one of the most worship filled choir presentations in song that I have ever heard. Every song leads you to the throne of God’s grace in praise and worship of our great King! Brother John, choir, orchestra, and all our music team…THANK YOU! Thank you for helping us worship the Lord Jesus every Sunday and now in our homes and automobiles through the week. I am so very appreciative that our choir has decided that all the proceeds from the sale of the new CD are going to be used to help fund our Harvest of Israel Ministry. Harvest of Israel (HOI) is beginning to mushroom in growth as more and more churches, Sunday School classes, and individual believers are helping us take the message of the Gospel to the land of our Savior and the land of the Bible. We are expecting a tremendous uptick in HOI support and involvement when the Tennessee Baptist Convention officially endorses HOI as one of its partner ministries at the TBC Annual Meeting in November. We are working closely with not only the Messianic and Arab Christian congregations in Israel but also our very own IMB coordinators.

I wanted to update you on a couple of exciting HOI events upcoming. This fall we will be sending a team on our very first “SEE and SERVE” Mission Trip to Israel. They will be helping our IMB personnel at Baptist Village in Peta Tikvah as well as assisting the Ha Mayon Messianic congregation outside of Tel Aviv. A portion of the trip will be devoted to seeing several of the key Bible sites as well as serving through mission and ministry. Future tours are also planned through Harvest of Israel beginning with the tour scheduled for the day after Christmas (Monday, December 26, 2016) and returning the first of the year in January of 2017. We are currently taking names on a list for those interested in this trip. This will be a tour-only trip. What an incredible place to spend New Years Eve and New Years Day…in Eretz Yisrael…the Land of Israel. I am so proud to be your Pastor and to work alongside you for the sake of the Gospel! Next month I want to give you and update about another exciting ministry partner…Living Waters Ministries. Buy a CD…bless Israel…and be blessed by the great music you’ll hear! PS- Mark your calendar for Sunday, July 5. We are going to have ONE SERVICE that morning… ALL TOGETHER… 10:45 am…and we are going to raise the roof for Jesus! More to come on that in a few weeks! Stay tuned! Page 2

Joel Young, Church Administrator In the last two months we have started to introduce the 10 ways to GIVE program to “MAKE GIVING EASIER.” This month we will look at ACH giving through your bank (also known as “online bill pay”). Besides giving in the offering plate, one of the easiest and least expensive ways to give is to automate it through your own checking account. These days, almost all checking accounts come with free online bill pay. You go on your bank’s website with your login and then schedule bills you want to pay either automatically or manually as you receive a certain bill in the mail. You can do the same with your tithes and offerings for the church. You can set up your tithe as an automatic bill payment, to be sent weekly, monthly, or at some other interval you choose. You choose the amount and the payment will be sent in the mail to the church, free for you and free of fees for the church. This way you can be sure to give even if you are sick, at the beach or at home in an ice storm. I would encourage you to review the amount each January. You can also manually make special offerings (i.e. Building Fund, Lottie Moon, State Missions, etc.) to the church by putting in the memo or notes how you want the offering designated and we will honor your request. Other methods of online giving deduct certain fees before we receive the contribution, so this is a way to save the church money.
I hope you were able to be present for the mission testimonies on Sunday evening, May 17 as we heard story after story of how our members, through your support, are winning people to Christ all over the world. One of the most moving was the story told by Tommi Lindsey about the Jail Ministry and how so many women are being saved and baptized. However, our ministries can’t operate on good deeds or past giving, as Paul told the church at Corinth below, your continued faithfulness in giving makes ministries like these possible and you become part of the mission. But while giving is great, God also wants you to pray and GO get personally involved which will open up your travel plans, prayer closet and wallet to new possibilities. Who owns your life, possessions and wealth? “But just as you excel in everything—in faith, in speech, in knowledge, in complete earnestness and in your love for us—see that you also excel in this grace of giving.” 2 Corinthians 8:7 Paul loved the church in Corinth as a parent loves a child. He witnessed the outpouring of God’s gifts upon the whole believing community. They had been given salvation in Christ, an
articulate testimony, knowledge, faith, and spiritual gifts that continued to enrich the community. It seems they lacked nothing. Even in the area of material and physical needs, the Corinthian community was very comfortable. Yet, just as any loving and committed parent would, Paul continued to lead, teach, and advise the community at Corinth. In his second letter to the church, Paul encourages the believers to identify themselves with the greater ministry of the early Christian church. Paul recognizes their past support and yet admonishes them to continue to support the ministry going on in Jerusalem. He also encourages them that their practice of generosity should match the same standard of excellence they demonstrate in other areas of their walk with Jesus. Specifically, they should count God as the owner of all they possess and give from that posture. Generosity flows from a posture that sees everything as owned by God. Paraphrase from “30 Days of Stewardship Devotions” by Sunshine Community Church of Grand Rapids, MI, p. 5, Used by Permission. Page 7
The Mother’s Day Offering was a special offering collected for the Tennessee Baptist Children’s Homes (TBCH). Thirty-three percent of the TBCH’s operating funds come from this particular offering. A special thank you to those who contributed and gave in honor or memory of their mother and/or other loved one. John Griggs, Pastor of Prayer What is really important? People disagree and fight wars over things that are really unimportant. Who created us and why? Is it not the great God and Savior revealed to us in our Lord Jesus Christ? Why? So we could have intimate fellowship with Him daily in His Word through prayer! Consider these facts: 1. ONLY GOD IS GREAT! Man’s glory is borrowed, just as the moon reflects the sun. 2. ONLY GOD IS WISE! Created in God’s image (Genesis 1:26-27), we reflect HIS wisdom! 3. APART FROM GOD NOTHING MATTERS! In eternity all passes away except GOD! 4. ONLY WHAT WE DO IN GOD WILL REMAIN IN US AT LAST! “Only what’s done for Christ will last!” 5. HUMAN SIN IS REAL! Only when sin is given to Christ will life have PEACE and PURPOSE! 6. W I T H G O D T H E R E I S FORGIVENESS! Why? Because of Christ’s payment for our sin by His death and resurrection when we make Jesus the Lord of our lives!(Romans 10:9) 7. ONLY WHAT GOD PROTECTS IS SAFE! All else perishes with the
using or the hoarding. Paul knew this secret when he said, “Christ is able to keep that which I have committed unto Him against that day! (2 Timothy 1:12) You say, “How can I implement these great truths into my life?” The following simple “5 Steps” followed daily upon rising will make them real in your life!: 5 STEPS FOR DAILY “VICTORY” IN THE CHRISTIAN LIFE: 1. DIE TO “SELF”! (Luke 9:23) (Galatians 2:20) 2. ENTHRONE JESUS AS LORD! (Romans 10:9) (Luke 18:18-30) 3. PUT YOUR HAND IN THE HAND OF YOUR HEAVENLY FATHER AS A LITTLE CHILD! (Proverbs 3:5-6) (John 4:34) (Matthew 18:3) 4. READ YOUR BIBLE! (Psalm 119:9-11) (Jeremiah 15:16) (2 Timothy 2:15) (John 5:39) 5. LISTEN TO HIM AND OBEY! (John 14:21) (1 Kings 19:13,19) (1 Samuel 15:22)

Ladies Tuesday Morning Bible Study Begins June 9 at 9:30 am in the Parlor 7 week study Led by: Donna Mathis Page 9
The office of Deacon in the New Testament Church is a very important position. The men that serve alongside our Pastor and staff should be men of integrity, encouragement, and should meet the Scriptural qualifications found in God’s Word (see below for qualifications). The word “deacon” comes from the Greek word DIAKONOS. It is used 30 times in the New Testament. Only five times is it translated "deacon." In other passages it is translated “servant.” Thus, the role of deacon is “one who serves.” Jesus taught that the test of leadership is not power, authority, or influence. He said, “He that is greatest among you shall be your servant… (Matthew 23:11,12). Please do not recommend any person who does not meet all of the following standards. Don't lower God's standard. 1. He is full of the Holy Spirit (Acts 6:3,5) - Such men are spiritually minded and submissive to God’s leadership. 2. He is full of wisdom (Acts 6:3) - Such men have spiritual knowledge and understanding that provide sound direction for the ministry of the church. 3. He is also full of faith (Acts 6:5) - Spiritual men walk by faith and not by sight because they know and trust the God of the Word and believe in the Word of God. 4. He has a good reputation (Acts 6:3) - Such a man demonstrates integrity and honesty to others. He has a believable Christian life. 5. He should be a man of integrity, reverent and worthy of respect (1 Timothy 3:8) - Such a man faces life seriously and has a certain stateliness about him that commands respect. 6. He is a man who is not double-tongued, but is sincere in his speech (1 Timothy 3:8) - He should speak with verbal honesty and integrity, without gossip or slander, not saying one thing to one person and something else to another. 7. This man abstains from the sale and use of alcoholic beverages and illicit drugs (1 Timothy 3:8) as a lifestyle - He realizes the importance of his Christian influence and is willing to limit his liberty for the sake of others. 8. He is not a greedy person (1 Timothy 3:8) - Such a man is free from the love of money and other earthly possessions. 9. This man has a deep Biblical commitment (1 Timothy 3:9, Ephesians 4:14) He holds to the truths of the Christian faith with a clear conscience. He is not easily swayed from the truth because he strives to live what he knows. 10. He must first be tested and proven (1 Timothy 3:10) - This man must have proven over time that he is faithful and that his walk is credible. 11. He must also be beyond reproach and blameless (1 Timothy 3:10) - Such a man must display a lifestyle free from continual patterns of scriptural disobedience. There should be nothing in his life for which he could be accused and thus disqualified. 12. This man’s wife should be a woman worthy of respect (1 Timothy 3:11), not a malicious gossiper, but temperate, faithful and trustworthy in everything. 13. He should be the husband of one wife (1 Timothy 3:12) - This man should have never been divorced. He should be devoted and faithful to his wife. 14. He must manage his children and his household well (1 Timothy 3:12) Such a man should demonstrate leadership in his home life. He should have a well-ordered family life and wellbehaved children. 15. He must recognize the God-given spiritual leadership role of ministers (Hebrews 13:7,17) and submit to their leadership and authority. 16. He shall practice “storehouse tithing” of his family’s income (Malachi 3:10) to support the ongoing ministry of the church. 17. He should do all he can to create and preserve unity and harmony in the church (Ephesians 4:1-3) Such unity and love is our witness to the world of our being Christians and their need for God’s love. 18. He must be faithful in attendance and participation in church life (Hebrews 10:25) - Such a man is expected to faithfully attend church services and special events, finding places of ministry and service which fit his spiritual gifts. Page 10
