Touched by God to Touch Others
Home in Thailand Hi Friends at Faith Bible Chapel South From almost being denied visas in Cambodia, looking for housing, and attending my first Leadership Service Team (LST) meeting, it has been a full month. But there are more updates then those. Below you can find out all that is going with the Campbells as we are adjusting to our new lives in Thailand.
Needing Visas. One thing about Thailand is that visas can be a problem for missionaries. There are many different ways to go about it and in the north of Thailand we are working on it. But as for now, as long as we stay in Asia, we can only get a 3 month visa. What does that mean? That means we (as a family) have to leave the country every 3 months, apply at a Thailand Embassy, and pray that they will grant us our needed visas. It seems that every Thailand Embassy has their own set of roles, so it doesn't make things easy.
After we attended the DTS Gathering in Battambang, Cambodia we made our way to Phnom Penh to apply for our 3 month visa. From talking to others who applied there we were told that the only thing we needed was an invitation letter, a copy of YWAM Thailand's license, and money then we would get our visas after a couple of days.. What we didn't know was there is a new consulate in the Thai Embassy. We ended up producing a lot more paperwork and even then we were almost denied. But after writing a letter to the consul and waiting 6 days we finally got our 3 month visa.
Please continue to pray for our visas.Currently it cost us $400 ($80 per person) for only 3 months plus the travel out of the country. Please pray for provision for visa runs and a long term visa.
Housing? Kinda It seemed for a month we would hear about houses for rent, and then once we get a chance to look at it they were rented. Even our short term housing was falling apart. With us moving around so much it was hard to finalize anything. But when we got back from Cambodia we saw this house that we liked. After taking a few hours to pray about it we decided to rent it. Only to find out that while we were praying about it someone else was taking it!
After all the stress of the looking for housing knew God was showing us something. We felt God leading us to talk to the Chiang Rai leadership team to join the base. After some prayer they agreed. And since we didn't have any housing we moved onto
the base. The only problem with that is currently they don't have housing for families. So we are pretty crowded. We are looking for housing walking distance from the base. Please pray with us.
Leadership Service Team (LST) This is a Leadership team with the main goal of serving the YWAM locations in the Northern Region of Thailand and expanding YWAM in that region. The team was just formed in the beginning of this year and have been meeting since. We have been preparing for our move to Thailand so last June 14 and 15 was the first time I had the chance to join. First of all I feel privileged to be on this team. They are a great batch of leaders who are very different from each other, but at the same time everyone is very open for new ideas. Even though I was just joining, I felt that I have been there since they started last January! I can tell that in this leadership team is having a positive impact on each other and I pray that our unity will spread throughout the region. We are going to have our Northern Thailand Regional Staff Conference this August 4 to 7 and I am looking forward for what God has for us as we start this new season! Friends at Faith Bible Chapel South thank you for taking the time to read our newsletter. We couldn't do what we do without people like you who support us through prayer and finances. We are truly grateful. Below are some prayer request and some other links you my enjoy.
