Solas Trust Newsletter 2/13/12

It is time for another update. So what is new about Solas Trust and for us?

Well the good news is that we are now a charity. It took a long time in coming but now we are legitimate! So - we can begin applying for funding. Anyone who knows how to apply for funding or fill out trust forms please will you help us, we’d love to hear from you.

I have been reading in Exodus 36 recently and was amazed how God equipped two of the craftsmen assigned to build the Tabernacle with the skills (wisdom) and the ability (understanding) to do all the tasks required to see the project completed. Hmm -I think the Lord has given Mike some creative ideas already.

The other event was that the people gave so generously that they had more than they needed for the project. Moses had to tell the people ‘stop, stop, we don’t need anymore.’ What a wonderful experience that must have been! It hasn’t been quite like that for us but we have seen some very generous people give of their time and finances to see this ministry on it’s way.

We even have a wonderful couple coming from the US to make a promotional dvd about the ministry for us. What a blessing that is.

There is much to be done. We are still hoping to be in the house by the middle/end of summer but it is slow work with Mike doing most of it on his own. This past month Mike has decided to take a break from his YWAM - Western Europe responsibilities in order to do some work on the house and spend time being refreshed in the Lord... very much needed space.

However whilst the work on the house is slow we are seeing the anti-trafficking network grow and become more of a community. Relationships are growing and the awareness of what is being done to address the need in Northern Ireland is more obvious. There are growing concerns that the situation here in NI is getting progressively worse as laws in the Republic of Ireland change, making us the ‘easier option’ for traffickers. It has been encouraging however, to see the increasing number of MLAs (Members of the Legislative Assembly) that are working together with the NGOs to see something concrete being done to combat the misery of these oppressed people.

Our vision is still in place but it has been tossed about a bit this last few months. We are discovering that their are a lot of people with opinions of how we should be running our safehouse . It is good to get advice and allow the shaking and refining of the vision but we have confidence that whilst we continue to wait on the Lord He’ll bring His design into play just as He did with the craftsmen building the Tabernacle.

Please continue to pray for us. We really do need some help both practically and financially, but it is also very encouraging for us to know that you are praying for us.
