Message from the Owner In 1994 I established FBI Fashion College Pty Ltd (FBI). In the beginning there was only me, now there are more than twenty teachers and ten wondrous head office staff. FBI began offering flexible part-time Fashion Business Courses, then due to popular demand we added Fashion Design. Most recently our newest subjects: Event Management, Online Fashion Business, Fashion Magazines, Computer Skills for the Fashion Industry and Fashion Photography have proven very useful to FBI Fashionistas. In 2007 I was fortunate enough to buy the FBI building at 181 Glebe Point Road. This meant that extensions and renovations could begin immediately. So far the exterior and interior of FBI have had a face lift and another Design Studio has been added. It’s now a favourite classroom with Students. Now we have expanded into the beautiful Post Office Building next door. We are very excited about adding a new waiting room, Student facilities room, boardroom and a giant Design room into this space. For me the most exciting addition is our new FBI Fashion Retail Store – Chariot. This is situated at the front of our College. The merchandise in the store is designed by FBI Students and it is managed by FBI Students. This includes store Visual Merchandising, Marketing, PR, Buying and Customer Relations. I believe that a College is only as good as its Students. I am happy to say that so many Students have succeeded in making us look amazing. Thank you. An homage to some of these Students can now be seen on our ‘Hall of Fame’ wall. Past FBI Students have achieved notoriety in Fashion Design, Fashion Styling, Fashion Marketing/PR, Event Management, Fashion Buying, Fashion Journalism and as Fashion Entrepreneurs in their own successful businesses.

“Every month an average of three hundred and sixty Workplace Training opportunities are filled with outstanding FBI Students in outstanding Fashion Companies.”

FBI has added a Diploma of Fashion Business which includes Advanced subjects in our most popular Fashion Business modules. Also added to our curriculum is a Diploma of Fashion Design. We are very proud of this as it has been a long time in the making. Expanding to the Post Office Building next door is extremely timely! I have been blessed with some excellent staff and they just keep getting better. To date the FBI Careers Department is the most effective. Every month they succeed in placing several Students into jobs in the Fashion Industry. Every month an average of three hundred and sixty Workplace Training opportunities are filled with outstanding FBI Students in outstanding Fashion Companies. These Workplace Training placements are usually in the Students’ chosen field.

FBI Fashion College Owner Selena Mazuran.

It has been a wonderful year so far at FBI, I look forward to what the future brings. Opening an FBI in Melbourne could possibly be on the horizon. There are definitely positives and negatives to this expansion. I would be very interested in your opinion. Feel free to let me know what you think. If there are any questions about FBI please don’t hesitate to contact me. Email: train@fbifashioncollege.com.au or phone: (02) 9566 2020.

FBI has become an important partner to our HR team. Jane Pollard – Human Resources Manager

DAVID JONES’ LTD One thing I have noted, is that FBI students are really keen and appreciative, I think this maybe because most Students are there part time and want to get the most out of everything they can get. They have mostly always greatly appreciated learning new skills and were willing to perform all tasks as best as they can, without question. They have generally been a great pleasure to have with us in the studio. Stephanie Said – Design Assistant

Akira We have worked with FBI on several occasions and the calibres of candidates have been very helpful. The people we’ve met have been well vetted for suitability and we’ve hired people several times from these introductions. Simone Zimmermann – Owner

Zimmermann We have worked with FBI on some placements at Hermes over the past few years with real success. The candidates proposed are always suitable for the role required. While FBI candidates have a natural enthusiasm for fashion due to their studies, they have also developed a real interest in the underlying structure of the Fashion Industry. They know it is not “glamour” but hard work and application that count. Karin Upton Baker – Managing Director
