(17th Ecotouristic and Production Fair)
V BINATIONAL ECOTOURISTIC AND PRODUCTION FAIR SAVANETTE, Center Department, Republic of Haiti HONDO VALLE, Elías Piña and San Juan provinces, Region El Valle, Dominican Republic FROM NOVEMBER 30th. TO DECEMBER 15th 2013 In the Decade of Biodiversity TOWARDS A BINACIONAL ECOTOURISM ROUTE! This year 2013, from 30th November to 15th December, the Science and Art Foundation from the Dominican Republic and two Haitian institutions, the Foundation for Development of Alternative Tourism in Haiti (FONDTAH) and Sant Pon Ayiti in coordination with the Dominican and Haitian governments, will celebrate the 5th Binational Ecotouristic and Production Fair, in Savanette, situated in Haiti, on the border with the Dominican Republic. This fair corresponds to the 17th edition organized by the Science of Art Foundation, so far . The Ecotourism and Production Binational Fair is being organized with two purposes: 1.‐ Making people of the region aware of the possibility to develop ecotourism, as a way of receiving incomes and creating jobs, and contributing at the same time to the preservation of nature and cultural heritage. 2.‐ Strengthening links with the Haitian people, who shares the Island with us, working together and developing common projects. That is why we consider that the ecotouristic fair is: A song to nature for human development and peoples´ solidarity The fair will include commercial exhibitions, scientific conferences and workshops for children, artistic presentations, as well as sports and excursions. We expect that, like in previous fairs, more than a hundred thousand of persons of the Dominican Republic, Haiti and other countries will attend. The governments of the Dominican Republic and Haiti, national and regional institutions, private companies and international organizations are accompanying us and participate very intensely in this activity. In the ecotouristic fairs that were celebrated on the border and in the South West Region of the Dominican Republic, we have found out that all these places have a great natural and cultural potential to develop ecotourism. Thus, we have started to promote the idea of a BINATIONAL ECOTOURISM ROUTE which first step would be starting in the city of San Juan de la Maguana and ending in the Haitian Municipality of Savanette, going through the towns and villages of Las Matas de Farfán, El Cercado, Juan Santiago and Hondo Valle, and returning to San Juan de la Maguana going through the Municipality of Vallejuelo. The V Binational Ecotouristic Fair's motto is: ¡Towards a Binational Ecotouristic route!
