PENSANDO EN COMPONENTES Seis meses dan para mucho, y más aún en el sector de los componentes del calzado. En todo este tiempo, en AEC, tenemos nueva Junta Directiva, hemos aprobado un plan estratégico hasta 2010, hemos adelantado las tendencias del verano 2009, hemos llevado la pasarela «GeconeÑe» a México, hemos ido a ferias y a misiones, hemos firmado acuerdos y convenios, hemos mantenido reuniones con las distintas administraciones, hemos preparado la cuarta edición de la pasarela… y nos ha dado tiempo también a hacer su revista, a terminar FMODA+, para que puedan estar al tanto de todo lo que la asociación pone en marcha, con un único objetivo: buscar el beneficio de las empresas asociadas.

Y como FMODA+ es su revista, queremos abrirla un poco más a sus empresas, por eso es muy importante que nos envíen aquello que consideran importante para sus firmas: sus diseños, acciones de sus empresas, cosas qué mejorar....

En este número les vamos a presentar ,un poco más de cerca, los planes de futuro del nuevo Presidente de AEC, Manuel Román. Vamos a presentarles todas las tendencias que ha preparado el Comité y muchas más cosas relacionadas con nuestro sector.

THINKING OF COMPONENTS Six months is a long time, especially in the footwear components sector. After all this time, at AEC we’ve got a new Board of Directors, we’ve approved a strategic scheme which extends until 2010, we’ve advanced the summer ’09 trends, we’ve taken the «GeconeÑe» fashion display to Mexico, we’ve participated in fairs and trade missions, we’ve signed trade agreements, we’ve had meetings with all the administrations, we’ve prepared the fourth edition of the display... and we’ve also had the time to issue your magazine, to finish FMODA+, so you can keep up with all the actions started by the association, all with one single aim: to work for the benefit of associate companies.

As FMODA+ is your magazine, we’d like to open it up to your companies; that’s why it’s important for you to send us what you think may be worth publishing: your designs, your company initiatives, the things that can be improved...

In this issue we’ll take a closer look at AEC’s new President, Manuel Román, and his prospects for the future. We’ll also show you all the trends prepared by the Committee and many more things related to our sector.

La vigencia del plan estratégico es de tres años, desde 2008 hasta 2010 y tiene como misión hacer crecer a las empresas y generar una rentabilidad sostenida para que el sector asegure su futuro.

El Director General de AEC, Álvaro Sánchez destaca que «los objetivos del plan estratégico son incrementar la cifra de negocio de las empresas de componentes, mejorar la capacidad productiva de las mismas, potenciar la innovación en el sector, promocionar la marca Footwear Components From Spain, y aumentar el número de empresas asociadas a AEC».

Uno de los aspectos más importantes es la marca. La Asociación Española de Componentes para el Calzado (AEC) utilizará en el segundo semestre, la nueva marca comercial, que servirá de paraguas para todas las acciones de la Asociación tanto nacionales como internacionales.

La nueva marca FCFS (Footwear Components From Spain) será la referencia de AEC, una vez que el Instituto de Comercio Exterior (ICEX) ha dado el visto bueno a los logotipos, aplicaciones y todas las acciones de marketing.

«Hemos elaborado planificaciones estratégicas definidas y presupuestadas para cada uno de los objetivos, y esperamos lograr el apoyo de las distintas administraciones con el fin de poder llevar adelante los más de 20 proyectos concretos que recogemos como herramienta de futuro», señala Sánchez.

El plan estratégico está abierto a la incorporación de acciones nuevas que puedan ser de interés para el sector. La inversión en la mejora productiva de las empresas, la formación técnica, la potenciación de la marca, la innovación en el sector y la continua promoción exterior serán las claves de este Plan.

THE SPANISH ASSOCIATION OF COMPONENTS AND FOOTWEAR MACHINERY (AEC) HAS PRODUCED AND APPROVED A STRATEGIC SCHEME OF ACTION SO AS TO BOOST THE SECTOR, ITS COMPANIES AND THEIR

PRODUCTS.

The validity of the strategic scheme is 3 years, from 2008 to 2010, and its main aim is to help companies grow and generate a sustained profitability so the sector may be able to ensure its prospects.

AEC General Manager, Álvaro Sánchez, points out that «the aims of the strategic scheme are to increase the business figures of footwear components firms, to improve their productivity, to boost innovation in the sector, to promote the brand name Footwear Components From Spain, and to increase the number of companies associated with AEC».

One of the most important aspects is the brand name. The Spanish Association of Footwear Components (AEC) will use the new trade mark in the second semester, which will represent all the national and international actions carried out by the Association.

The new brand name FCFS (Footwear Components From Spain) will be the AEC logo, once the Institute for Foreign Commerce (ICEX) has given the green light to all the logos, applications and marketing actions.

«We’ve prepared clear strategic schemes with a specific budget for each one of the objectives, and we hope to achieve support from all the administrations in order to develop more than 20 concrete projects that we’ve undertaken as a tool for the future», Sánchez remarks.

The strategic scheme is open to the inclusion of new actions that may be of interest to the sector. Investment in improving company productivity, technical training, brand name promotion, innovation in the sector and constant international promotion will be the key factors in this Scheme.

Si, he ejercido de secretario con la anterior junta directiva y de Presidente de Futurmoda, después de muchos años trabajando en el sector. Hemos confeccionado una junta continuista, con algunas personas nuevas, y con un objetivo muy claro: ofrecer todas las posibilidades que estén en nuestra mano para las empresas de componentes.

Ha sido todo un éxito. ANPIC León es la feria más importante de América y un escaparate inigualable. Nuestra apuesta por la moda de los componentes de España es total. Con un objetivo final y fundamental, que redunda en que la pasarela sirva como apoyo a la venta de nuestras empresas tanto en el ámbito nacional como internacional.

Es muy importante, AEC es propiedad de las empresas asociadas, es su casa. Es un punto de referencia vital para la representación de los intereses del sector. Dadas las dimensiones de la mayoría de empresas asociadas, micro pymes, la única posibilidad de acceder a servicios, información, asesoramiento de subvenciones, organización de ferias y misiones comerciales, es a través de la asociación, que defiende los intereses de todos y realiza estos servicios para el colectivo, ya que de forma individual sería imposible.

¿QUÉ OBJETIVOS SE MARCA SU JUNTA EN LOS PRÓXIMOS CUATRO AÑOS? Vamos a trabajar todo lo posible por garantizar un futuro de estabilidad a nuestras empresas. Cómo se hace eso; pues buscando nuevos mercados para nuestros productos, defendiendo ante las administraciones públicas todas las necesidades de las empresas, apostando por la formación y por la innovación en el producto, que acompañado de la moda debe ser nuestro elemento diferenciador. No estamos pasando un buen momento y muchas empresas de nuestro sector han caído en el camino. Pero tenemos que ir recuperando poco a poco nuestras cuotas de mercado, después de varios años complicados.

Conozco a los empresarios de componentes, su gran esfuerzo y su trabajo, y sé que van a apostar por sus empresas. Hay que luchar por innovar, por tener un producto de la mayor calidad y por la moda. Nuestra meta debe ser estar en todos los sitios, sondear los mercados y encontrar nuevas oportunidades de negocio.

VE AL SECTOR DE LOS COMPONENTES EN ESTE PRIMER

¿SIGUEN SIENDO IMPORTANTES LAS AYUDAS DE LA ADMINISTRACIÓN? Si, las distintas administraciones públicas han reaccionado muy bien al llamamiento del sector. Pero estamos aún en un proceso de cambio y reindustrialización, y seguimos necesitando su apoyo en los proyectos de innovación, y en la internacionalización del producto, así como en la moda. Su apoyo es un pilar fundamental para seguir trabajando, y estoy seguro de que son conscientes de la importancia del sector manufacturero y van a seguir brindado su apoyo a los componentes.

¿EL PRODUCTO ASIÁTICO SIGUE SIENDO LA PRINCIPAL AMENAZA? Asia es una oportunidad de futuro, un mercado en el que tenemos que entrar a vender. Lo estamos haciendo, pero muy poco a poco. Las importaciones asiáticas siguen siendo altas, pero no son nuestra competencia. Nuestra principal amenaza no es Asia, es la desaparición paulatina del pequeño fabricante de calzado y la reconversión del gran fabricante en importador, nos quedamos sin mercado, por eso es importante la internacionalización de nuestra empresa.

Nuestro segmento de mercado es otro, estamos por la innovación, la calidad y la moda para diferenciarnos, y es ahora cuando debemos prepararnos y hacer la apuesta por el futuro de los componentes españoles.

«AEC’s AIM IS TO STAND UP FOR OUR FIRMS» Last January, Manuel Román took over the presidency of AEC. He now has four years ahead of him full of challenges and projects in order to fight for the interests of firms and improve the sector’s situation.

WHAT ARE THE MAIN OBJECTIVES FOR YOUR BOARD IN THE NEXT

COLLABORATED WITH PREVIOUS BOARDS FOR MANY YEARS AND

LIKE AEC?

HAVING PRESIDED OVER FUTURMODA.

It’s very important since AEC is owned by the associated firms, it’s more like their home. It’s a vital point of reference for the sector’s interests.

Given the dimensions of most of the associated firms, micro pymes (small & medium firms), the only way to gain access to services, information, advice on subsidies, organisation of fairs and trade missions is via this association, which defends everybody’s interests and performs these services for the collective that would otherwise be impossible to be performed individually.

Yes, I acted as a secretary at the previous board of directors and I was also appointed as President of Futurmoda after having been working in the sector for many years. We’ve gathered a board that will continue with the current policy, with a few new people, and with a clear aim: to offer all the chances we may have to firms specialised in components.

FOUR YEARS? We will strive to guarantee our firms’ stability in the future. How can we do that? Well, by finding new markets for our products, by defending all the needs of our firms before public administrations, by promoting training and product innovation, which together with fashion must be our distinctive element. Another aim is to promote the Futurmoda fair, our display, by offering visitors not just an exhibition of items for footwear, but also a survey on trends displayed in our fair and a new way of showing our work, the «GeconeÑe» fashion display, and we also mean to start the Strategic Scheme for the sector passed by our Board of Directors.

«GECONEÑE» HAS BEGUN ITS INTERNATIONALIZATION, WHAT DO YOU MAKE OF THIS FIRST ADVENTURE IN MEXICO? It’s been quite a success. ANPIC León is America’s most important fair and a matchless stage. Our bet on the Spanish fashion components is unconditional. It helps to let people know the kind of products we’re able to manufacture and to promote Spanish brands all over the world. All of this, with a final, essential objective which results in the display helping our firms’ sales in both the national and international market.

HOW DO YOU SEE THE COMPONENTS SECTOR IN THE FIRST SIX MONTHS?

We’re not going through good times and a lot of firms have disappeared along the way. But we must slowly regain our market shares, after several hard years. I know the components employers, their great effort and dedication, and I’m sure they’ll bet on their companies. We must stand up for innovation, for achieving a high-quality product and for fashion. Our goal must consist in being everywhere, surveying markets and finding new business opportunities.

ARE SUBSIDIES FROM THE ADMINISTRATION STILL IMPORTANT?

Yes, all the public administrations have reacted very positively to the call of the sector. But we’re still immersed in a process of change and reindustrialization, and we keep on needing their support for innovation projects, as well as for product internationalization and fashion. Their support is a fundamental pillar to carry on working, and I’m sure they’re aware of the importance of the manufacturing sector and will continue offering their support to components.

IS THE ASIAN PRODUCT STILL THE MAIN THREAT?

Asia is an opportunity for the future, a market where we must enter to sell. And we’re doing so little by little. Asian imports are increasing, but they’re not our competitors. Our main threat isn’t Asia, but the gradual extinction of the small footwear manufacturer and the transformation of the big manufacturer into an importer, which makes us lose our market, hence the importance of internationalizing our industry.

Ours is a different market segment, we believe in innovation, quality and fashion in order to make us distinctive, and now is the time when we must get ready and take a chance on the future of Spanish components.

BELÉN JUSTE CONSELLERA DE INDUSTRIA

Componentes Innovadores El sector de fabricación de componentes de calzado es una actividad con personalidad propia ganada a pulso en décadas de trabajo, esfuerzo empresarial y perfeccionamiento; de proyección hacia los mercados internacionales; de búsqueda de modos y tecnologías propios y de progreso en el conocimiento. Es un sector con un hondo arraigo en esta Comunidad; nacido casi desde la nada y apegado en sus orígenes a la industria principal, el calzado, ha logrado tomar una dinámica singular y abrirse hacia nuevos productos, ganándose un lugar destacado en los mercados.

En años recientes los cambios tan profundos que ha sufrido la industria del calzado le han afectado también, poniendo en cuestión su competitividad. Sin embargo, el sector en su conjunto –y cada una de las empresas que lo componen– han sabido adaptarse a esa circunstancia y encontrar solución a los retos. Hoy, las perspectivas de futuro de la industria de componentes se han consolidado, y se le han abierto horizontes nuevos a la actividad que se dirigen hacia una mayor diversificación productiva y de mercados; a una mayor autonomía del calzado sin desligarse de esa función original.

The footwear components manufacturing sector is an activity with a personality of its own that’s been much deserved after decades of hard work, commercial effort and perfection; years of projection towards international markets, of searching for its own methods and technology, and of progress in knowledge. It’s a deep-rooted sector in this Community, born almost out of the blue and very related in its origins to the main industry, footwear, which has managed to take on a peculiar character and to open up towards new products, thus achieving an important place in markets.

In recent years the drastic changes undergone by the footwear industry have also affected the components industry, questioning its competence. However, the whole sector –and each of the firms that make it uphas learned to suit to this fact and to find a solution to these challenges.

Nowadays, the prospects for the components industry are consolidated, and new horizons have been opened which aim at a bigger productive and market diversification, at a larger autonomy from footwear without losing its original function.

En suma, fortalecer todos aquellos elementos que fortalezcan el desarrollo y la innovación en el sector.

Esta medida general se completa con la colaboración en muchas otras acciones individuales en las que participan empresas del sector y la misma AEC: apoyo a acciones formativas en innovación tecnológica, promoción de la moda en la que los complementos de cuero son parte importante. En este sentido, he de reconocer que la labor de la asociación está siendo muy fructífera y que su impulso está resultando decisivo en ese proceso de renovación empresarial y avance sectorial.

Un escenario de colaboración ya consolidado que va a seguir en esta legislatura, con más intensidad, apoyando e impulsando la renovación productiva y empresarial de un sector que ha visto claramente cuál es su futuro y que tiene la voluntad de aplicar su saber hacer y su conocimiento de la industria para dar valor a su oferta y progresar en producto, en materiales y en atención a sus mercados.

The Council of Industry, Commerce and Innovation is working jointly with business associations and with the Chambers of Commerce of the Community in order to renew the sectorial competition schemes. Among them we have the Scheme for Competition for the Footwear, Components and Tanning sectors. The objective is to boost the technological ability of the companies in this sector, the qualification of their human resources, the industrial development and co-operation; to implant a common brand name image and to consolidate the sector’s internationalization. In short, to strengthen all the elements that enhance development and innovation in the sector.

This general measure is completed with collaboration in many other individual actions in which there is participation by some companies from the sector and by AEC itself: support for formative actions in technological innovation, promotion of fashion in which leather components are an important element. Here I must admit the association’s job is proving highly productive and its support is turning out to be decisive in that process of industrial renovation and sectorial progress.

It’s a consolidated scenario of collaboration that’s going to continue in this term of office, with even more intensity, supporting and boosting the productive and industrial renovation of a sector that’s clearly foreseen its future, and which possesses the will to put into practice its knowledge of the industry so as to appreciate in value its offer and make progress in terms of product, materials and market service.

Over the past few years some actions have been carried out with a view to improving the status of such a wide guild; however, the dispersion in regulations and the pressing demand from this collective of people who perform a professional job by risking their own economic resources, required a level of protection similar to that of employees.

Este es el principal objetivo de la mencionada Ley: equiparar el nivel de protección social de los trabajadores autónomos con el de los trabajadores por cuenta ajena. En la Disposición Final Tercera se habilita al Gobierno para dictar cuantas disposiciones sean necesarias para la aplicación de esta Ley.

This is the main purpose of the aforementioned Act: to put on the same level the degree of social protection of self-employed workers with that of employes. In the Third Final Ordinance the Government is qualified to adopt all the necessary measures to ensure the enforcement of this Act.

La Ley 20/2007 va dirigida a los socios industriales de sociedades regulares colectivas y comanditarias, comuneros de las comunidades de bienes y socios de sociedades civiles irregulares, a quienes ejerzan las funciones de dirección y gerencia o presten otros servicios para una sociedad mercantil capitalista, a título lucrativo y de forma habitual, personal y directa, cuando posean el control efectivo, directo o indirecto de aquella y a Trabajadores autónomos económicamente dependientes (aquellos que realizan una actividad económica o profesional para una empresa o cliente del que perciben al menos el 75% de sus ingresos).

Act 20/2007 is intended for industrial Partners of collective and limited regular companies, joint owners of co-ownerships and partners of irregular civil companies, for those who act as directors and managers or perform other duties for a capitalistic trading company, in order to make a profit in a habitual, personal and direct way, when they possess effective control, whether direct or indirect, over such a company, and it’s also intended for self-employed workers who are economically dependent (those who perform an economic or professional activity for a company or a customer whereby they obtain at least 75% of their income).

Se formula un catálogo de derechos y deberes de los trabajadores autónomos, como son el derecho a la igualdad y no discriminación, derecho a la conciliación de la vida profesional y familiar, el derecho a la salud y a la seguridad en el trabajo y al mantenimiento de un Régimen Público de la Seguridad Social que les garantice la asistencia sanitaria (maternidad, enfermedad común o profesional y accidentes, sean o no de trabajo) y las prestaciones económicas (incapacidad temporal, riesgo durante el embarazo, maternidad, paternidad, riesgo durante la lactancia, incapacidad permanente, jubilación, muerte y supervivencia y familiares por hijo a cargo) suficientes ante situaciones de necesidad.

A charter of rights and duties of self-employed workers is formulated, such as the right to equality and to not being discriminated, the right to reconcile professional and familiar life, the right to health and safety at work and to the maintenance of a Public Regime of Social Security which may guarantee medical assistance (maternity, common or professional illness and accidents, whether on or off duty) and economic compensations (temporary disability, risk during pregnancy, maternity, paternity, risk during breastfeeding, permanent disability, retirement, death and survival and relatives with children in their care) that are fair enough in the event of hardship or situations of need.

A lo largo de los últimos años se han llevado a cabo algunas iniciativas destinadas a mejorar la situación de este amplio colectivo, sin embargo la dispersidad normativa y la ya acuciante demanda de este colectivo, que realiza un trabajo profesional arriesgando sus propios recursos económicos, necesitaba un nivel de protección social semejante al que tienen los trabajadores por cuenta ajena.

más habituales en este tipo de empresas. Los nuevos planes contables no rompen la estructura de los anteriores.

Es importante destacar que aunque se viene hablando habitualmente de «un» nuevo plan contable, realmente han sido dos los aprobados, uno para la gran empresa y otro para las PYMES, aunque los fundamentos son los mismos para uno y otro plan. El Consejo de Ministros de 16 de Noviembre 2007, aprobó mediante Real Decreto estos dos nuevos planes contables, dando así cumplimiento a lo establecido en dicha ley.

Desde el año 1990 se disfruta de una relativa «paz» contable, únicamente alterada por la aprobación de nuevos planes sectoriales que adaptaban la normativa del Plan General de Contabilidad a las características específicas de cada sector de la economía y por las resoluciones del Instituto de Contabilidad y Auditoria de Cuentas(ICAC), que desarrollan el PGC y sus adaptaciones sectoriales.

Sin embargo la economía está cada vez más globalizada y se hace necesario que la legislación contable y mercantil española esté armonizada con las legislaciones homólogas de un ámbito más amplio que el de la Unión Europea, con la finalidad de poder alcanzar un mayor grado de comparabilidad de la información contable que presentan las empresas.

En 1989 se hacía necesario que el entender y leer un balance de una empresa alemana no presentase dificultad para una empresa o inversor españoles y viceversa, hoy se hace necesario que el entender y leer un balance de una empresa europea no presente dificultad para una empresa o inversor de fuera de la UE, y viceversa. En otras palabras se puede decir que hemos pasado con la reforma actual de una «europeización» de la normativa contable que se produjo en 1989 a una «mundialización» de la misma.

Llegados a este punto cabe preguntarse también por la conveniencia o no de un nuevo plan general de contabilidad destinado específicamente para las PYMES (el 96% del tejido empresarial español, no lo olvidemos). Pues bien la conveniencia se basa en el deseo de una simplificación que evite unos costes desproporcionados en la elaboración de la información contable, así como facilitar su comprensión a los destinatarios de la misma. (Los acreedores) y no los inversores de las grandes empresas. Se trata de centrar la norma en las operaciones

Aun así, los cambios son numerosos sobre todo en los criterios de valoración, perdiendo el precio de adquisición su carácter casi exclusivo, la aparición del concepto de valor razonable constituye una de las grandes novedades. Podemos citar también el del valor neto realizable, el del valor actual, el del valor en uso... y así hasta cinco más.

También hay novedades en cuanto a los principios contables se refiere, así el principio de prudencia pierde su carácter prioritario, si bien sigue teniendo un carácter relevante, ya que el nuevo PGC establece expresamente «se deberá ser prudente en las estimaciones y valoraciones a realizar en condiciones de incertidumbre» (necesidad de reflejar contablemente la incertidumbre en el cobro de créditos a clientes, por ejemplo). Pero en los casos de conflicto entre principios contables, deberá prevalecer el que mejor conduzca a que las cuentas anuales expresen la imagen fiel del patrimonio, de la situación financiera y de los resultados de la empresa.

En cuanto al camino para conseguir el objetivo de la «imagen fiel» que persigue la contabilidad, se establece como novedad la condición del «fondo sobre la forma», es decir en la contabilización de las operaciones se atenderá a su realidad económica y no sólo a su forma jurídica. Así por ejemplo un coche adquirido por leasing deja de reflejarse como derechos sobre bienes en régimen de arrendamiento financiero dentro del inmovilizado intangible, para reflejarse en función de la naturaleza del bien, esto es, elementos de transporte, que constará en el inmovilizado material exactamente igual que si se hubiera comprado.

El año 2007, será el último ejercicio en el que las empresas cuando presenten sus cuentas anuales lo hagan en tres documentos (balance de situación, cuenta de p y g y memoria anual). Desde 2008, tendrán que añadir dos más: el estado de flujos de efectivo (viene a sustituir al cuadro de financiación y no es obligatorio para aquellas empresas que puedan formular el balance abreviado) y el estado de cambios en el patrimonio neto (éste si es obligatorio para todas las sociedades).

No cabe duda que esta profunda reforma de la contabilidad española va a suponer un esfuerzo de estudio tanto por parte de profesores, asesores, auditores así como para todos los profesionales de la contabilidad.

REGARDING ACCOUNTANCY TO HARMONIZE IT ON AN INTERNATIONAL LEVEL AND BASED ON THE EUROPEAN UNION REGULATIONS.

It’s important to point out that although people have usually been talking of «a» new schemes of accountancy, in reality there have been two schemes approved, one for the big companies and another one for SMEs (small and medium companies), though the foundations are the same for both schemes. The Board of Ministers passed these two new schemes of accountancy on November 16th 2007 by means of a Royal Decree, thus fulfilling what is established in said act.

Since 1990 there’s been a certain «peace» as regards accountancy, which was only altered by the passing of new sectorial schemes that adapted the regulations of the General Scheme of Accountancy (PGC) to the specific features of each economic sector, and also by the resolutions of the Institute of Accountancy and Accounts Audit (ICAC), which are carrying out PGC and its sectorial adaptations.

However, economy has become a global issue and it is therefore necessary for the Spanish mercantile and accounts regulations to be harmonized with equivalent regulations from a wider sphere than that of the European Union, with a view to achieving a higher degree of comparability of the accounts information that is owned by companies.

In 1989 it was a necessary thing for a Spanish company or an investor to be able to understand and read the balance sheet of a German company without difficulty and vice versa; nowadays it’s necessary for a company or an investor coming from outside the European Union to be able to understand and read the balance sheet of a European company without difficulty and vice versa. In other words, we can say we have changed from a «europeanization» of the accounts regulations that took place in 1989 to their internationalization with the current reform.

Having arrived thus far, we must also ask ourselves whether it is convenient or not to have a new general scheme of accountancy specifically aimed at SMEs (96% of the Spanish industrial structure, let’s not forget that). Convenience is therefore based on a wish for simplification which avoids disproportionate costs in the gathering of accounts information, as well as facilitating its comprehension for its potential addressees,

Even so, the changes are numerous, above all in the assessment criteria, making acquisition price lose its almost exclusive character, with the appearance of the concept of reasonable value as one of the main novelties. We can also mention other novelties, such as those of realisable net value, current value, value in use... and up to five more changes.

There are also novelties as far as principles of accountancy are concerned; thus the principle of discretion loses its status of priority, though it carries on having a relevant character, as the new PGC states clearly that «discretion is recommended regarding estimates and assessments to be made under conditions of uncertainty» (the necessity to show on the accounts the uncertainty when cashing credits to clients, for instance). But in the cases of conflict between accounts principles, there must prevail the one that best leads to a situation in which annual accounts show a faithful image of the heritage, the financial status and the company’s results.

As regards the road to achieving the goal of a «faithful image» sought by accountancy, it is established as a novelty the condition of «background over shape», that is to say in accounting for transactions special emphasis will be put on its economic reality and not just on its legal character.

So for example a car acquired by leasing will cease to be regarded as rights over goods in a regime of financial lease within the intangible immobile properties, and will now be considered according to the nature of such an asset, namely, transport elements, which will figure in the material immobile goods exactly the same as if it had been bought.

The year 2007 will be the last fiscal year when companies will present their annual accounts in three documents (balance of situation, p and g account and annual memory). From 2008 onwards, they’ll have to add two more documents: the status of cash flows (it’ll replace the finance chart and it won’t be mandatory for those companies that can formulate an abridged balance) and the status of changes in net heritages (this one is mandatory for all societies).

There’s no doubt this profound reform of Spanish accountancy will involve a big effort in research by both professors, advisors and auditors as well as by all the professionals in accountancy.

En 2006 México ocupó el noveno puesto como cliente de España y, por otro lado, fue el principal destino de la exportación española a Iberoamérica.

Las principales zonas comerciales e industriales del país son la gran zona metropolitana de Ciudad de México, así como Guadalajara y Monterrey.

Con respecto a la industria del cuero, calzado y sus componentes, junto con la marroquinería, cabe indicar que son sectores muy arraigados en la industria mexicana, con una gran tradición y especialización regional.

En la cadena productiva cuero-calzado-proveeduría participan 6.000 empresas con 140.000 empleos directos.

México es uno de los principales productores mundiales de calzado con 220 millones de pares anuales.

El principal mercado de exportación es Estados Unidos, seguido de Puerto Rico, Canadá y Guatemala.

Al mismo tiempo las importaciones de calzado cada año aumentan considerablemente siendo originarias de Brasil, y cada vez más de China y Vietnam.

En la actualidad el sector tiene que afrontar los graves problemas de la competencia asiática que les amenazan. Desde 1993, México ha puesto barreras a la desleal competencia de los países asiáticos que venden a precios dumpings para lo cual se establecieron medidas antidumping (aranceles entre el 100% y el 1000%). Actualmente, y durante este 2008, la industria mexicana del calzado se encuentra en un procedimiento jurídico para seguir demostrando que China sigue siendo un competidor desleal, y continuar la renovación de las cuotas compensatorias durante, al menos, 5 años más, ya que en caso contrario el daño que se causaría sería grave e irreversible y supondría la desaparición de más de 400 fábricas de zapato mexicano.

In 2006 Mexico ranked 9th among Spain’s main customers and, on the other hand, it was the main destination for Spanish exports to Latin America. The most important commercial and industrial areas of the country are located in the big metropolitan area in Mexico City and also in Guadalajara and Monterrey.

Regarding the leather, footwear and components industries, together with the leather goods industry, we must point out that these are very traditional sectors in the Mexican industry, with a great regional specialization. In the leather-footwear-supplier productive chain there are 6,000 companies with 140,000 direct jobs.

At present, the sector must face the serious threats from the Asian competition. Since 1993, Mexico has been facing unfair competition from Asian countries that sell at dumping prices, so in order to stop this illegal practice some antidumping measures were introduced (duties between 100% and 1000%). Nowadays, in the present year 2008 the Mexican footwear industry is engaged in a legal trial to carry on proving that China continues being an unfair competitor, and to resume the renewal of compensation fees for at least 5 more years, or else the damage that can be caused would be serious and irreversible and it would mean the disappearance of over 400 Mexican footwear factories.

Con el apoyo del Instituto Valenciano de la Exportación (IVEX) y de la Cámara de Comercio de Alicante se puso sobre la pasarela las tendencias Otoño/Invierno 08-09, que bajo el título «Muñequita de Lujo», asombró a todos los presentes. La delegación española de AEC recibió las felicitaciones tanto de la organización mexicana como de los diseñadores que se acercaron al Poliforum de la ciudad de León para ver la pasarela. Representantes del ICEX y del IVEX en México estuvieron presentes en la feria para interesarse por la pasarela «GeconeÑe».

With support from the Valencian Institute for Exports (IVEX) and the Alicante Chamber of Commerce, the 08-09 Autumn/Winter trends were displayed, which under the label «Luxurious Dolly» caused a sensation among everyone. The AEC Spanish delegation was warmly congratulated by both the Mexican organization and the designers that visited León’s Poliforum to watch the display. Mexican representatives from ICEX and IVEX were present at the fair to watch the «GeconeÑe» display.

El director de la pasarela de tendencias, Antonio Moreno destaca que «la puesta en escena en México de las tendencias españolas tiene una doble vertiente muy importante, por un lado ponemos en valor el diseño español y lo que son capaces de hacer nuestras empresas, y además es un respaldo muy importante para las empresas españolas que acuden a la feria de ANPIC».

The trends display’s director, Antonio Moreno, stressed that «the display of the Spanish trends in Mexico has a very important double meaning: on the one hand, we draw attention to Spanish design and to what our firms are able to produce, and on the other hand, it’s also a very important support for the Spanish firms attending the ANPIC fair».

En este extremo coincidieron plenamente los empresarios españoles presentes en la feria. Un total de 14 empresas acudió con la participación agrupada organizada por AEC, mientras que una decena de firmas nacionales lo hicieron a través de sus marcas mexicanas. La feria cerró con un buen balance para los componentes españoles, que tienen en los artículos de calidad y de moda sus opciones de venta más importantes en el mercado centroamericano.

The majority of the Spanish employers present at the fair agreed on this point. Over 135 celebrities support certification «Made in Green» has got the altruistic support from 138 relevant characters in the world of sports, culture and the arts. They’ve all contributed with a statement and a photograph to promote the «Made in Green» campaign. These words help boost a project that was born with the conviction that a committed process of textile production is still possible to be achieved.

Sentada ésta premisa, quisiera dedicar estas líneas a comentar la tendencia de las innovaciones en el sector que, entre otros aspectos, pasa por convertir al calzado en un dispositivo para aumentar activamente el bienestar, ya que hasta ahora, el objetivo del calzado ha sido proteger al pie de forma pasiva, con componentes estáticos y con una adaptación limitada al usuario.

Los desarrollos en el área de materiales se refieren a adhesivos y pieles biodegradables, procesos de curtición ecoeficientes, plantillas activas, procesos de microencapsulación de sustancias activas en forros y plantillas, materiales multifuncionales y marcadores moleculares para la lucha contra la falsificación y el aseguramiento de la trazabilidad de los productos.

Estos temas están siendo abordados en un Proyecto Integrado sobre Calzado, en el marco de la Unión Europea, en el que INESCOP es uno de los líderes, en concreto del área de materiales.

Having said this, I’d like to dedicate these lines to commenting on the current trend of innovation in the sector which, among other aspects, is bound to turn footwear into a mechanism that will actively increase our well-being, because so far footwear’s main aim has been to protect feet

in a passive way, by using static components and with an adaptation limited to the user.

The developments in the area of materials deal mostly with adhesives and biodegradable leather, ecologically efficient tanning processes, active insoles, processes of microencapsulation of active substances in lining and insoles, multifunctional materials and molecular felt-tip pens to fight against forgery and ensure product outline.

As regards technology, our efforts are being aimed at enabling fast, efficient co-operation among multilocated companies, which involves the development of data exchange standards and the enhancement of 3D computer design systems, based on a virtual last, which allow the application of computer design to the whole product development and can be complemented with personalization, which makes it possible to achieve a focus that’s «centered on the person», backed by 3D optical digitizers for lasts and feet, together with virtual product representation advanced peripherals and software tools for footlast comparison.

These issues are being discussed at an Integrated Project about Footwear, within the European Union, in which INESCOP is one of the leaders, specifically in the materials area.

El objetivo es potenciar y fomentar la práctica de la investigación científica, el desarrollo tecnológico, el asesoramiento técnico y la formación de personal cualificado en Biomecánica, aportando crecimiento sostenible a la sociedad en general e innovación y desarrollo al tejido empresarial de la Comunidad Valenciana.

The purpose is to boost and promote the practice of scientific research, technological development, technical advice and the training of qualified personnel in Biomechanics, by providing sustainable development to society as a whole and innovation and growth to the industrial fabric in the Valencian Community.

El Presidente de AEC, Manuel Román destacó que «este acuerdo se establece en beneficio de conseguir un sector de los componentes para el calzado mucho más sólido, respaldado por la experiencia que aporta el IBV en materia de salud y bienestar, investigación, desarrollo e innovación y calidad, trabajando siempre unidos tanto AEC como el IBV en beneficio de las empresas y el consumidor final».

AEC President, Manuel Román, pointed out that «this agreement is established in order to achieve a footwear components’ sector with more soundness, backed by the expertise supplied by IBV in terms of health and well-being, research, development, innovation and quality, with AEC and IBV working together all the time for the benefit of firms and the final consumer».

Alrededor de 30 empresas acudieron, a finales de febrero, a la segunda jornada de innovación organizada por la Asociación Española de Componentes y Maquinaria para el Calzado (AEC), dentro de las actividades previstas en el plan estratégico de la Asociación.

Around some 30 firms attended the second day of innovation arranged by the Spanish Association of Footwear Components and Machinery (AEC) at the end of February, within the activities prepared by the Association’s strategic scheme.

La jornada estuvo centrada en la innovación dirigida al producto, mientras que la anterior se centró en los agentes industriales. El director de AEC, Álvaro Sánchez subrayó que «nuestra intención es acercar la innovación a las empresas, porque entendemos que las firmas que no lo hagan lo van a tener más complicado. Queremos acercar las ventajas competitivas que esto supone y todo el desarrollo en sus productos desde el punto de vista de la innovación».

The day was focused on innovation for product, while the previous one dealt mostly with industrial agents. AEC director, Álvaro Sánchez, remarked that «our aim is to bring innovation closer to firms, since we believe the firms that are reluctant to accept it will have it much more difficult. We’re intent on showing and facilitating the competitive advantages this means and the whole product development from the point of view of innovation».

En la jornada se dio a las empresas los pasos a seguir en esta materia, y se habló de nanotecnología, materiales y procesos implicados en innovación.

During the event firms were given the steps to be taken in this issue, and there were talks on nano-technology, materials and processes involved in innovation.

Las empresas de AEC contaron con la participación del MITYC (Ministerio de Industria, Turismo y Comercio), CDTI (Centro para el Desarrollo Tecnológico Industrial), así como con los Institutos Tecnológicos; INESCOP (Instituto Tecnológico del Calzado), AITEX (Instituto Tecnológico del Textil) y ASINTEC (Centro Tecnológico de la Confección).

La moda japonesa de estilo occidental nació tras la Segunda Guerra Mundial, cuando durante la posguerra Japón vio en su enemigo (EE.UU.) al mejor de sus socios. Así comenzó la era de la economía mundializada. Así comenzó también la nueva sociedad occidental de Japón.

Japanese fashion in the western style was born after the Second World War, when during the postwar years Japan saw in its enemy (the USA) the best of its partners. That was the start of the age of global economy. It was also the start of Japan’s brand new western society.

¿Dónde poner los límites de lo que es propiamente japonés? ¿Es Japón una sociedad oriental u occidental?

El kimono es su vestido tradicional, pero, al contrario que en la mayoría de los países occidentales, sigue siendo un vestido vivo, presente en lo cotidiano, propuesta enérgica de una continuidad respetuosa con lo pasado. A los japoneses más occidentales no les interesan los desfiles de kimonos (nos asegura Michael Caronna, de la agencia Reuters), y nos lo confirma Hidenobu Yasui, quien dice estar únicamente inspirado en el arte del francés Paul Poiret. Pero aquí la paradoja, Poiret era un diseñador occidental influenciado por oriente, y todo diseñador japonés, por muy occidental que sea, lleva en sus venas la tradición del estilo oriental.

Where can we mark the limits of what is typically Japanese? Is Japan an eastern or a western society?

The kimono is Japan’s traditional dress, but unlike in most western countries, it keeps on being a living dress, something that’s present in ordinary affairs, an energetic proposition from continuity respectful with its past.

Western Japanese people aren’t interested in kimono displays (according to Michael Caronna, from Reuters agency), and this fact is confirmed by Hidenobu Yasui, who claims to be solely inspired by the art of French artist Paul Poirer. But here lies the paradox, Poiret was a western designer influenced by the East, and every Japanese designer, no matter how much influenced by the West he may be, has the eastern style tradition in his veins.

Entonces, de forma maniquea, podríamos hablar de dos tipos de diseñadores japoneses, el oriental y el occidental, y estaríamos cayendo en el gravísimo error que hoy en día nos amenaza, la clasificación radical, la diferenciación que renuncia de las raíces y nos empobrece. Podemos comprobar la convivencia amistosa y lúcida entre culturas en las chaquetas de Mikio Sakabe, donde grandes solapas estilo años 70 contrastan con grandes mangas típicas del kimono, en el mestizaje de Kamishima Chinami, o en los diseños de las firmas Aptform y Poesie, donde se mezclan diferentes materiales, como el paño y el punto, con transiciones suaves, producto de un estudio minucioso, de una investigación precisa. Porque cosa importante es el talante refinado de la precisión y la eficacia japonesa. Los kimonos del diseñador de Kyoto (cuna de la pervivencia de la tradición centenaria japonesa) Jotaro Saito son rotundamente modernos, utilizando telas vaqueras y nuevos estampados multitextura con atrevidas combinaciones de color, brillantes medias tabi, propias del calzado zori, sandalias que, recordemos, dieron lugar a las hoy mundialmente utilizadas guarachas, con degradados maravillosos y materiales esponjosos y cómodos.

Cierto es que diseñadores consagrados como Issey Miyake y Yohji Yamamoto proyectan una terrible sombra sobre todo diseñador japonés, y pueden parecer imitar sus formas, sus estéticas y su modos de investigación (moda de laboratorio, estudios de materiales y manipulaciones con el rigor de la ciencia), pero más allá de todo esto está la realidad: todo japonés contiene en su interior una fuerza innovadora ávida de experimentación: JAPÓN ES UNA NACIÓN ABIERTA, PERO MUY EXIGENTE.

Then, in a Manichean way, we could talk of two types of Japanese designers, the eastern and the western types, but we would be making a serious mistake that’s threatening us today, that of radical classification, the differentiation which rejects the origins and so impoverishes us. También existen novedades en los diseñadores de moda textil con firmas de primer nivel, nuevos creadores y la importante participación de dos escuelas de diseño. «GeconeÑe» incorpora marroquinería con el objetivo de dar una nueva visión de creación a los complementos.

El Director de «GeconeÑe», Antonio Moreno subraya que «la pasarela pretende ser un punto de atención a lo que son capaces de hacer las empresas de componentes españolas. Nuestra «workshop» de tendencias es un apoyo a las firmas españolas de calzado y textil, pero sobre todo al sector de componentes con el objetivo aumentar su promoción, y en definitiva, la venta».

El certamen continúa siendo uno de los puntos de referencia para los profesionales del calzado dentro del circuito internacional de feria.

Futurmoda, the Spanish footwear components and machinery fair, celebrates its tenth anniversary as a meeting point for the national sector. This event keeps on being one of the reference points for footwear professionals within the international fair milieu.

FUTURMODA SIGUE EL MISMO CAMINO QUE EL SECTOR DE COMPONENTES, CON LOS ALTOS Y BAJOS QUE MARCA EL MERCADO, PERO CON EL ÚNICO OBJETIVO DE SER UNA HERRAMIENTA DE VENTA Y UN PUNTO DE PROMOCIÓN VITAL PARA LA MODA ESPAÑOLA EN ARTÍCULOS PARA CALZADO.

La feria acoge la presentación de las cuatro tendencias, elaboradas por el Comité de Moda de AEC, que se podrán ver en las colecciones de los expositores con la vista puesta en la temporada Primavera/Verano de 2009.

Futurmoda está pensada para el profesional del calzado, los industriales que visitan el certamen son el alma de una feria que, aunque ha reducido su espacio en las últimas temporadas, sigue manteniendo a las principales firmas de componentes de España, lo que supone todo un seguro de éxito.

Esta edición cuenta con la presencia de las principales empresas de maquinaría, que exponen en la feria cada dos ediciones. La presencia internacional está garantizada con las misiones inversas y la participación de una delegación de industriales colombianos interesados en la materia prima de España.

Pero es la moda el pilar fundamental de Futurmoda. El Salón de Tendencias y el Área de Modelistas tiene espacio reservado para las principales creaciones de diseñadores, así como los artículos más destacados de las firmas expositoras. El concurso de diseño vuelve a reunir un centenar de trabajos de los jóvenes modelistas, que traen nuevas ideas al mundo del calzado.

Futurmoda trabaja edición tras edición por renovar sus contenidos y sus propuestas. El gran trabajo realizado por las empresas en la diversificación de mercados a los que dirigir el producto, traerá nuevos aires a la feria en próximas ediciones, por el interés mostrado por otros sectores, distintos al calzado, por los artículos españoles de componentes.

FUTURMODA IS FOLLOWING THE SAME WAY AS THE COMPONENTS SECTOR, WITH ALL THE UPS AND DOWNS THAT THE MARKET SETS, BUT WITH THE ONLY AIM OF BEING A TOOL FOR SALES AND A VITAL SPACE OF PROMOTION FOR SPANISH FASHION IN FOOTWEAR ARTICLES.

The fair holds the introduction of the four trends designed by the AEC Fashion Committee, which will be ready for display in the collections at the stands, with all eyes set on the spring/summer 2009 season.

Futurmoda is intended for footwear professionals; the businessmen attending the event are the heart and soul of a fair which, though having reduced its space in the last seasons, carries on keeping the top components firms in Spain, which is a guarantee of success.

The current edition will enjoy the presence of the main machinery firms, which display their products in this fair every two editions. The international representation is guaranteed by the inverse missions and the participation of a delegation of Colombian businessmen interested in Spanish raw materials.

But fashion turns out to be the fundamental pillar at Futurmoda. The Trends Hall and the Modellers’ Area have reserved a space for the main creations by designers, as well as for the most remarkable articles exhibited by the participating firms. The design contest has once again gathered a hundred projects made by young modellers, who introduce in this way new ideas into the world of footwear.

Futurmoda works hard in every edition so as to renew its contents and its propositions. The great job done by companies regarding market diversification in order to place their products will let in some fresh air into the fair in future editions, especially because of the interest shown by other sectors with no relation to footwear in Spanish components articles.
