Maryborough Wide Bay Burnett Historical Society Situated in the School of Arts, one of Maryborough’s most beautiful heritage buildings, explore a snapshot of early history through a wonderful collection of more than 3500 photographs, historical records, more than 3000 books, weddings gowns from 1890-1910, needlework and lace artefacts.
u Maryborough Whistle Stop Museum
Maryborough’s impressive rail heritage is on show on the site of the heritagelisted railway station (c. 1882) with a small but remarkable collection of railway memorabilia. Dedicated volunteers also crew the Mary Ann, a working replica of Queensland’s first steam engine built in Maryborough in 1873. Ride her through Queens Park every Thursday and last Sunday of the month.

o Croydon Foundry Museum
This museum provides valuable insight into one of Maryborough’s major industries of the last century. Established by English immigrant William Stevenson in 1908, the foundry produced the popular Croydon stoves and boiler stands along with agricultural, mining and timber milling machinery and equipment for Queensland’s sugar mills.
a Maryborough Hospital Museum
Housed in a 1927 former doctor’s residence, and displaying items and documents which relate to the city’s early public general and maternity hospitals dating from the 1850s. Learn about the pneumonic plague outbreak of 1905, which killed eight people including two heroic nurses.
s Hervey Bay Historical Village & Museum
A multi-award-winning tourism complex with 21 buildings spread across three grassy acres, including a faithfully furnished slab hut from 1898, fully equipped blacksmith shop, old church, complete railway station and dairy shed. Blacksmith, corn shelling, woodturning and rope-making demonstrations are held every Sunday from 1-3pm or other times by appointment for large groups.

Burrum District Museum Explore Howard’s past as a major coal mining centre from 1863, when the first coal seam was discovered on the banks of the Burrum River until the closure of the last coalmine (Burgowan Number 12) in 1997. Enjoy displays of farming and war memorabilia, and cottage crafts.
