Refunds/ Transfers For Camps
• Complete one set of forms and make multiple copies of the completed set. Forms must be turned in at each location for each week. • Be sure to put your own name on the Pick-Up Authorization Form as an authorized individual even though you are the one completing the form. • Label ALL of your child’s belongings, including his/her lunch, water bottle and snacks. • Keep electronics and other valuable items at home. • Children should dress in play clothes and sneakers every day. Shoes such as sandals, wheelie shoes, flip flops, clogs and other shoes unsafe for physical activity are not permitted. However, flip flops are allowed on the pool deck and in locker rooms. • For your child’s safety, parents must sign children in and out of camp each day. An I.D. is required at pick-up. Please do not drop your child off at the front door.
• Cancelations and transfers are processed in person or by phone only. For operator assistance, call 703-222-4664. • If school make-up days extend into the camp week, FCPA will automatically credit your member account for camp days missed. • There are no refunds for missed days due to changed work or vacation schedules, sick days or other non-emergency reasons. Up to Two Weeks Prior to Camp • Refunds and transfers must be requested at least 14 days prior to the camp session from which you are withdrawing. Transfers may only be made from one camp to another camp; not from a camp to a class or Rec-PAC. • All but $25 will be returned for each camp session approved for a refund. Within Two Weeks of start of Camp • Refunds are not permitted for those who register within 14 days prior to the start of a camp session. • Transfers are not permitted within the 14-day period before the start of camp. • Within 14 days of the start of camp, refunds are given only for medical emergencies with doctor’s written verification as long as the verification is received BEFORE the camp begins Once Camp Begins • If a medical emergency occurs during camp, a doctor’s written verification will be needed within 24 hours for a pro-rated refund. Requests received after the camp session ends will not be granted.
About Our Staff • All our staff members are 18 years of age or older. Most are college students or teachers. • All staff members are certified in first aid and CPR and have been through background checks, including police checks. All staff members attend an intensive training course before camp begins. • Staff to Camper Ratios: For school-age children, our camps maintain between 1:10 and 1:15 ratio. The state standards are 1:18, so FCPA provides more individualized attention with lower ratios. Preschool camps maintain a 1:10 ratio.

Other Important Information • Licensing: Certain camps are licensed by the Va. Dept. of Social Services. These camps require additional paperwork. Please download the camp forms packet at www.fairfaxcounty.gov/parks/campforms to determine if your child’s camp is licensed. Licensed camps require an immunization record and proof of child’s identity. • Out-of County Residents: Out-of-County residents are welcome to enroll in camps. There is a $15 fee for non-Fairfax County residents. • Early Weeks: Some weeks listed are designed for non-FCPS students who get out of school earlier than FCPS. • Camp length and times vary. Some camps are one week; some are two. • Inclement Weather and Code Red Days: On rainy days or when substantial rain is expected, some outdoor camps may be canceled for the day. On code red days, campers will engage in outdoor activities during the day while taking in plenty of water and several shaded breaks. Many of our camps are held outdoors. Please check with the site for more information. • Camp Forms and Check-In: To expedite the check-in process, please make copies of your child’s forms for each camp and each week. Forms are not transferred from one camp to another. • Pool Closures: Please note some of our RECenter pools may be closed in late August for maintenance and cleaning. Contact the RECenter directly for details. • Host-a-Coach Program: We are always looking for families who would like to host a British soccer coach for a week during the summer. In turn for hosting, families earn a free week of British soccer camp. For application and details, visit www.fairfaxcounty.gov/parks/campforms. • Schools and Buses: Many RECenters and parks use classrooms and gyms in nearby schools during the summer as a respite from the heat. Campers may be bused or walk to/from our facilities to a nearby school during the camp day. • Camp Cancelations: It is important to register early! Camps that do not meet minimum requirements for enrollment may 4 be canceled.
