When researching American Prep I found so many letter motiifs used particularly on Varsity jackets and sweaters. letter motifs sorced on placement

I think the lettering works so well on a jacket as it adds something else other than just a pocket or a zip.

Following on from my idea of letter motif’s, I have looked more specifically at Varsity jackets. In America these are such a big thing, with there being a different jacket for each sport team/ university, they are a staple in the student wardrobe.
I was attracted to this because of there oversized silhouette, particularly the huge collars. I also love how they have added letters and numbers which I could replicate into a University initial if I wanted to develop into a more “American Prep� style.

In my research I really love the trousers worn by American footballers and how these have changed over the years. I think I could take details such as knee supports, high waists and tie fastenings to come up with new designs from this.
KTZ FALL 16 As I have taken quite an interest in American football for this project I thought I should research into the actual sport itself. I found myself looking at the actual ball used in the sport.
Immediately I loved the almost tie fastening in the centre of the ball as well as the stitch lines which I could replicate onto a garment.
JUUN. J SS14 I was immediately attracted to the oversized silhouette of the garments in this collection and feel like this was the main focus/theme to the collection.
I also loved how the lettering/ numbering almost look as if it had been placed on the garment and lifted up to make the numbers really stand out.

I love the “college crews� poster the the right of the page showing the different uniform and oars used by the teams.
Another popular sport in American Universities is rowing. I have collaged together both present and past images on this page.

When visiting New York last year I went to the Old Navy store. I think this fits in perfectly with the theme "American Prep". I think the big flashing signs in store really give the shop an American vibe almost like you're in an American diner.

American Universities are very grand with the most beauitful architecture particularly Yale.
Yale University does also have some modern buildings. On this page I have tried to show the comparison from the grandure of Yale. I have managed to create my own check print just from using the windows and lines of the building.
