SLOVAKIAN AND CZECH FOLK: RESEARCH
TRADITIONAL SLOVAKIAN FOLK SHIRTS
The origin and development of the folk costumes were affected mainly by domestic raw materials, the type of work and employment, social class and nationality, religion and belief, contact with foreign countries and historical fashion of the higher social class.
SLOVAKIAN FOLK
FOLK INSPIRATION : SHIRT
I was inspired by Slovak folk and choose to focus on techniques such as drapping fabric and embroidery. I was also inspired by traditional folks shirt which is one of great importance in slovak cultural indentity and used it as point of reference to create a contemporary collection I decide to use recycling second-hand clothes (white shirt, trousers , scarf ) and dyed them in burlesque red.
CICMANY-TRADITONAL FOLK VILLAGE
Čičmany is different from other typical village: hundreds of years ago, for reasons unknown, locals began decorating the exteriors of their wooden abodes with various artistic designs, including abstract geometric shapes, animals, arrows, clovers, crosses and hearts.
