5th SEMESTER S10 | DESIGN UNIT

Alternative forms to “make the city TUTOR Michele Bonino CO-WORKERS Tiziana Buso Marianna Gaetani The project for Scalo Vanchiglia area intends to create a new highvalue urban district, marked by the relationship with the landscape, and the integration between the functions and public spaces. This aims to achieve a new system of new urban centers. The project works on the realization of a hill, as a linear park and public space crossed in many directions. The green area is partly equipped for the inhabitants of this urban sector: a hill accessible from the first level. The groung floor is characterized by commercial functions.

NEW FORMS IN VANCHIGLIA New residential and commercial buildings as social housing of good quality. These buildings need to have a clear cross urban character. the impressiveness of the system is disproved by gabs and openings ensuring ‘life breath’.

6th SEMESTER S13 | DESIGN UNIT

A pedestrian bridge to “connect the city TUTOR Giovanni Durbiano CO-WORKERS Giacone Federico Davide Maraffino The Design Unit is built on disciplinary knowledge of architectural design and structural engineering. The case study is the footbridges crossing the river Bormida in Millesimo (Italy). The exercise consisted of a simulation that responses to the characters of the place and the implications on urban spaces.

A RIBBON ON THE RIVER Creating a new urban spaces for recreation is the major challenge; the solution is the “white ribbon. The ribbon was designed against the background of green vegetation and blue water. This integrates a boardwalk, seating, and a pedestrian bridge. A square is distributed along the ribbon, which provide meeting opportunities and visual focal points.

6th SEMESTER S13 | COURSE

New methods to represent the architecture TUTOR Anna Osello Practical exercises devoted to the use of specific tools for the acquisition of the BIM approach. Selected a building planned by Alvar Aalto in 1951, called Rautatalo, it is imported in Revit software. It was essential to control the management of the construction process (both during the design phase for the structural and economic fields) using the integrated database that is able. In addition, for the data display was offered the use of augmented reality to experiment with new channels of communication in the technical enrichment of the sheets in traditional graphic.

RAUTATALO UNDER NEW CLOTHES Rautatalo 2d drawings was imported in Revit and translate in a 3d model. Subsequent detail levels were developed until an augmented reality model. A lighting study was carried out on the central hall.

7th SEMESTER S14 | DESIGN UNIT

Barca-Bertolla social housing project TUTOR Giancarlo Motta The Design Unit intends to pay great attention to the geographic specificity and the principles of settlement which characterise the area of study (the “cartographic machine). The choice of the area of design interventions is based on a recent research on that leg of the river Po which crosses the city of Turin carried out in the context of a master thesis project. The interventions propose social housing solutions within the Barca-Bertolla zone.

SOCIAL HOUSING ON BERTOLLA ISLAND Three solutions for different uses were proposed; tower, linear and courtyard building. According to masterplan guidelines, a park project was explained.

7th SEMESTER S14 | COURSE

WINE MUSEUM in PIEDMONT TUTOR Marco Vaudetti CO-WORKERS Gianmarco Baire Fabio Calledda Anna De Filippo The course aimed to illustrate the specific problems of the design of the interior spaces from exhibit and interior design issues. A renovated historic building represents the case study. The project chose to develop is a wine sensory museum, according to Piedmont culture. All five senses are involved in the experience.

A SENSORIAL MUSEUM IN THE TURIN CENTER

In each museum room a number of fine and particular objects illustrate one of the five senses, suggesting connections with other themes that enrich the overall picture. Each piece of furniture of exhibition itinerary was designed and implemented.

7th SEMESTER S14 | WORKSHOP

DIGITAL PHOGRAMMETRY

TUTOR Antonia Spanò CO-WORKERS Martina Caruso Anna De Filippo The workshop aims to present an overview of the latest digital methods for the metric representation of the cultural heritage. The laser scanning technique integrated terrestrial digital photogrammetry, and test its use in an application that highlights the opportunity of use represent the opportunity of workshop. The choosen case study is the St.Uberto church located in Venaria (Italy).

SANT’UBERTO IN 3D

The course provides for the acquisition of point cloud and 3D model generation. Eleboration of the scans througn SCENE software, andmodelling by 3D RESHAPER. The contextualization of analized object was developed using GIS software.
