Regional/Community Design -The 100 audience capacity performance space and 70 people office incerease the site activity. Office is used at 9AM-6PM weekday, and performance space is used at lunchtime, afternoon, evening and weekend. -Easy access to bus route.
Bioclimatic Design
-West and South office facade support different angle of sunshading.
Materials and Construction -Concrete: lower ground floor use site cast concrete foundation, columns, beams, walls and slabs, which help to reduce energy waste. -Glazing: low-e glaze help to insulate part of sunlight. -Aluminum sunshading is recycled. -Steel: steel structure above ground is recycled.
Light and Air -All workspace benefit from ambient north skylight and natural ventilation.
Water Cistern
Water Cycle -Rainwater is collected by roof slot into basement water cistern and treatment reuses greywater for toilets and watering gardens -Using groundwater for heating/cooling of the building.

Keywords: wilderness, intervention, biodiversity, urban environment Considering the conflicting attitudes between human intervention in the built environment and general understanding of the wilderness which seems to center on creating “natural habitats� in urban environments, this Ecological Practices Studio researches strategies for incorporating diverse habitats into the spatial and built environment by considering buildings, urban structures, and infrastructure as opportunities for design and appropriation, to enable co-species habitation at multiple scales.

The hunting place is in the middle part of buffalo district, which is a recessional residenial area.
The site has many vancant buildings and lots where have abundant of overgrowth vegetations which supply resources fro species. In the Mastern Park, the bird trace was also found in the snow.
Master Park has higher height restriction and the possibility to build tower which can be a visible landmark attracting not only animals but also humans.
Mastern Park has difference in altitude with surrounding roads which will influence the vision of people around. The bird tower needs to be more than 39 feet to make it as an ecological landmark of this area.

A
There are three bird towers in each side the football field which are connected with bleachers by deck. This strategy built bird habitat without occuping recreational spaces. The birds habitat is spacial connected between second floor and third floor to build different birds watching space. To avoid the noise produced by the football activity, birds’ habitat and bleachers are seperated by the buffer zone, which can be used as kiosk. The facades of bird habitat facing the football field are enclosed by wood frame, the frame was weaved by plants which can help to reduce the noise produced by field activity.

Keywords: felt architecture, self-support, social interaction, parametricism, live database. This Situated Technologies Research Group focuses on the design of artifacts, spaces and media that are responsive to their context. This project investigated “felt� in its many senses - structured, sensed, soft, entangled, and more by making soft cloth architectures, with pliant and supple structures, with their literal software, and with our own processes of exchange at micro scales and at macro scales. And our choices in form, scale, program, and more are all entangled with one another: we are both methodical and adaptive to one another in this.

Form
Half scale felt structure failed to self-stand as dome enclosure.
Reverse extention direction as pillar.
Adding quantity of ribs. Handstanding the pillar to increase area that contacting the ground.
In macro scale, the project investigate the interaction between felt forest and people walking around. The columns have different size, patterns, distances between other, which make people have difference feelings at each step.

Using CNC machine to cut full scale model at Eastern Machine Company.
Straighter and wider bottom rib has better self - support character. Adding brown paper and starch to make each rib stiffer .

Considering felt’s good character of absorbing noise, this project interacted the transformation of felt pillar with people based on inaudible sound database. As the radiation changed, Arduino will control the rotation of motor, leading to expand or shrink the pillar. When the pillar expanded, the louder the sound will be heard from the hole of honeycomb structure.
The more quantity of ribs and shorter sewing intervals, the easier the pilllar stands. Bigger bottom area has better self- support character.
