Felisha Wells June 2, 2011 Block 2 Mr. Gloyd My Footprint
My name is Felisha Wells and I am a senior. I am graduating high school in the year 2011 from Aveson Global Leadership Academy. One thing that I noticed is that Aveson is big making the community a better place by going green. A lot has happened in the past few years that have made our generation the one that has keep the world going. We are expected to make a change in the world, so therefore we have a huge responsibility on our hands. Some of us will be able to handle it and some will not. But our generation and the next depend on it. Being part of this generation, I decided that I would join the part that can handle the responsibility and stand up for what I believe. Stepping up to the responsibility means that me and everyone else needs to be a leader. I try to be a leader at home, church, school, in the community and other places by putting my foot down when I see something that doesn’t look right. I always think that it is best to stand up for what you believe. I believe that people should be treated equal. In my life I see and hear a lot of bad things. From racism to gang violence it is done everywhere all the time. I have always tried to be positive. When you are being positive you life becomes easier. I learned that even just a smile could make someone’s day. Just the little things can make you see life differently. Another thing I am trying to do to make the world a better place is helping the homeless and the hungry. Our generation, to me is kind of spoiled. We see families and
people wasting food everyday, even restaurants. If we stop and think about it, we can be feeding hundreds of people the food that we don’t need or finish. My grandmother has been an example to me by going out of her way to help other people, even stranger’s needs. I have never seen someone with a bigger heart than her and I am so thankful. On May 29, 2011 my grandmother was at a drive thru and saw a hungry women. She was dirty and hadn’t eaten for days. My grandmother asked her if she could by her some food and the women said yes. She bought her a meal and had told her that God loves her and to never give up. She gave her a blanket and asked her if she had someone she knew so she can have a place to sleep. The women said her mother lived down the street, but her mother hated her. She said her mom makes her sleep in the back yard with the dog. This story made me want to cry. But it makes me so happy to see that there are still good people on this earth and I can be part of this segment of society. My experiences in helping the community and the world have been a life changing adventure. When I was younger, my experiences started when my family and I decided to donate all of the clothes that we were no longer wearing. We collected boxes and bags of clothes, toys, food, and other unused furniture. It made me happy to know that I can help others around the world by donating my old things and I am sure it made them happy too. As I got old I started to do these activities much more often. Like going to a food drive with my church to separate canned foods for people in need. Little did I know that doing that one deed would help hundreds of people. Doing this for other people made me more thankful for the things I have. Some of my favorite experiences in helping people have been helping the children. It is so sad to see kids on the street looking for food, clothing, a home, and love. Most of the time it is not there fault that
they are homeless. No one deserves to be treated like some sort of animal. To help stop that, I volunteered to make clothes and blankets for families. I put my love into making clothes because I would have wanted someone to do the same for me if I was in that situation. We also made them books to read and to teach them how to read. Many of these children and adults do not get an education. You cant get anywhere without an education in this day and age. And I plan to help change that. I am nowhere close to accomplishing my and many others life long mission, which is to make the world a better place. If I were to die in the next ten years I would want to be remembered for the great things I have done in life. I have many plans in the future. My first plan is to finish high school and go to college. I will be going to BYU on January 4, 2012 and take Pre-Med classes. It has been my dream to get my PhD and become a pediatrician. Ever since I was five I have wanted to be a pediatrician. When I was five years old I had to have openheart surgery because I had a hole in my heart. My pediatrician saved my life and I want to do the same. After I receive my PhD I will get a job as a pediatrician in Los Angles. I also plan to travel the world to places that are too poor to receive health care and help them. I also want to create a scholarship and organization in my name so people can do what I did and accomplish their dreams. In conclusion, I think that my life has been and will be full of joy and happiness because of many people in my life. We are not perfect but we can always try your best in life because life is short and we are only given one life to live. I love my life because the of the choices I have made. I have had my ups and my downs but they only make me stronger. I think I have been living my life how I am supposed to. Live life like there is no tomorrow. You should always treat people how you want to be treated. Respect those
who are around you. Many people wait too long to start stepping up for what is right. Do the right thing no matter what and be the better person. Graduating from high school has been something I have been waiting for, for years.
