Festive chandelier

Save space on your Christmas dinner table and create an impact by elevating a traditional centrepiece and creating this dramatic hanging chandelier instead. 1 1 Begin by winding lengths of faux green ivy around the wreath base, tucking the ends in between the willow to secure them. Repeat the same method with lengths of faux variegated ivy until most of the willow wreath is covered.

2Carefully add a selection of picks featuring berries, fir, pinecones and toadstools around the wreath, making sure the ends are firmly wedged into the willow wreath base to keep them secure. Use lengths of florist wire to secure longer picks and keep them tightly attached to the wreath base. Make sure you place the picks on both the top and the underside of the wreath.

3Once you’re happy with the placement of the picks on your wreath, wind a length of foliage string lights around the wreath. Place the battery pack on the top side of the wreath, hiding it carefully among the foliage and securing it in place with a length of florist wire.

4Carefully measure and cut a 2m length of chain into four 50cm lengths using wire cutters.

5Attach four S hooks at equal distances around the top of the wreath and hook one end of each hook into the willow base. Attach one end of each 50cm length of chain onto each hook.

6Take the other end of each length of chain and hook it onto a carabiner snap hook. Attach clip-on battery-powered LED candles around your wreath, spacing them evenly. These lights give a realistic candle effect without the fire hazard. Then use the carabiner to suspend the wreath above your dining table, making sure that your ceiling hook can take its weight.
